"Castle Crazyness" is a decent battle level by Laguna and in my opinion its slightly better than
"Bridges over Carrotus". From design to eyecandy, everything is pretty good. Disadvantages are the small size and the lack of super original ideas so still 6.4 points (its very close to 7 points)!
However the summary is that you should download this and have some battle fun :-)
A very simple Diamondus battle level that makes use of one (nice) effect over and over again
throughout the pretty large area. The design could be described as average but the lack of eyecandy is too obvious.
Also there are three of the old and annoying "bugs"…1.) no background music (if its custom music PLEASE include the file),
2.) no next level set, 3.) hurt events in battle levels arent a good idea.
Sorry, i cant give a download recommendation for this level.
Ooops, is this really a Disguise level? Ok, you uploaded it here so i’ll review it.
Its another battle using the…um…good old Carrotus tileset. The layout is good,
but the lack of eyecandy is obvious. Very very low six points. censored i simply can not give 5 points for a Disguise level.
"Bridges over Carrotus" is a pretty average battle level. It has some…um…bridges.
Hmm. Okay. Im honest: i think i’ve seen too many carrotus levels in the last years so…i didnt like the Carrotus look much.
However, the levels eyecandy and design is okay. Actually i have nothing special to say about this level. Sorry, this is a bad review :-) Logoff.
Do you think this is funny? Sigh. Whatever. This level is crap. It uses the cool "Lost World" tileset, contains a suckertube
and some badly placed tiles and weapons. Really, i really respect all people who make
homecooked levels. Its great. It keeps Jazz alive. But please, dont release them if they’re completely unfinished and ugly like this one.
It makes no sense. You’ll only get angry ‘cause of the bad ratings you’‘ll receive.
P.S.: If you want the people to hear the background music, you should include the specific music file. Doing not so will decrease the rating.
P.P.S.: Author forgot to set the next level setting.
its basically the same as the previous version (well it seems the author tried to add some minor improvements but it isnt enough for a better rating) so i copied and pasted my review:
…here we go…
1.) YAY!!! This level uses Purple Motion’s famous "Fishtro" tune as background music!!! 10 points for the music! Great choice!
2.) Two extra points for creativity (the water trick is kinda cool!)
3.) Framerate alert! actually "The Titanic" isnt playable
4.) If i saw everything in the level, the layout and eyecandy is very poor
5.) The readme file sucks, really
6.) I recommend to include the MEZ tileset in the ZIP
P.S.: Its 6.6 points. The level still isnt very playable.
P.P.S.: Please, dont post a 2.XX-update every few days :-)))
"SPLASH’s CTF Fortress" is another sligtly-above-average level. The design is kinda
interesting in some places of the level, eyecandy is average also, the bridge idea…well, ok…but everything else isnt
super special. I didnt find any major bugs though. Well, download if you feel like :-)
I dont have much too add to Fquists well-written rating.
This level is way too small and pretty boring. The design is ok but there is nearly no eyecandy at all.
Some minor tile bugs also. I can’t find a reason to download this, sorry.
"Spring Celebration" is a another pretty cool level by one of the best tileset/level guys of our times :-)
Not that large but it really celebrates eyecandy and design. The background music is also a good choice so this is a download for everyone!
Hmm, i am very undecided about how to rate here. 6 or 7 points, i dont know. The first level
called "Rounded Walls" is pretty nice and large (well its also kinda primitive), the second one called
"The Mysterious Secret" isnt very fun at all. It has that so-called secret and a boss. Besides, i prefer Pepsi. j/k.
And the third level tries to tell the story behind it but suddenly loses all quality in the end (very bad tileset work).
Low 7 points. (6.6)
"The Growing Walls" is a very good single player level featuring some nice puzzles, secrets, paths and
lots of other neat stuff. The design and eyecandy is pretty good (some minor tile bugs though).
To sum it up, i really recommend you to download and play this. Very good work, AtomicFeline (7.4 points
The level is not bad. The design is okay. I dont have much too say. Its slightly above average.
P.S.: Please, never name your files "battle~1" or something like that. It only causes trouble :-)
(P.P.S.: The author forgot to put the next level setting.)
Still no four stars, NewSpaz ;-)
He just changed the colors a bit, everything is a bit darker than in the "normal" version of "Battery Check".
My thoughts about everything else are in the Review of "Battery Check" (submitted on August 21st 2000).
P.S.: There is still no example level…
well, i got some comments…here we go…
The level isnt very playable.
6.6 points for VeggieMan’s Battle Pack. (I’ll give out 7 points ‘cause the sun is shinin’ here today…)
Four levels with good layout, okay eyecandy and a nice background music selection (Future Crew, Mario chip tune etc.).
I found nothing special, though (the idea of making a Pyramid isnt new). However, every battle freak should add the pack to his/her collection. Really. I mean…why not?
An even better version of this great tileset. Lots of dinos, helicopters, computers, stones, palms etc..
And finally theres a nice example level thats shows how cool the tileset looks in the game :-)
I still recommend downloading this!
Well, i dont know the "Funny Furries" but it sounds cool and so is the level.
The design is good, the tileset looks pretty cool and the music selection is excellent.
I recommend to download this and to host a quality battle server (yay)! (7.4 points!)
I really like "LW, the battle 2" because everything in it is selfmade. The level, the tileset
and even the "sampled drum" music. Well the sound is not really brilliant, but it fits pretty good for the tileset and level.
Besides, design and eyecandy in the level are very good. To sum it up: you should download this pack! Very good work, Ninja Dodo.
Well, this is small battleground using the Thermal Carrotus tileset. Design and eyecandy arent that
brilliant in my opinion and you know that im a harsh rater (i just wanna give fair ratings so i gotta be harsh, sorry).
On a brighter note, the background music selection is pretty good: its a neat tune by well-known Skaven^FC.
A very good looking tileset including a proper mask and all the basic j1 tiles.
It really is a pity that the author forgot to make a small example level. I would recommend you to download this and make
levels of "J1crysilis" :-)
