Yet another decent battle level by Laguna. Im not a Diamondus fan, but eyecandy and layout are definetely above the average. I didnt find any bugs except the next level doesnt work (again!).
Summary: Not much to say but fun to play (hey a rhyme!). High six stars…eh…points! Lets have a battle server!
P.S.:
Oh and im just reading Derby’s great and detailed review: as far as i know Hurt events wont improve a MP battle level like this because they only hurt the server :-) "Dino Station" was SP, of course.
When making levels, you have large levels, and small levels… When you have large levels, more open area is preferrable and its not as linear. When making small levels, you have more puzzles, and less open area (more linear.) Well, "Daydream Diamonds," being a small level, has more open area, and is less linear. Why could this be a problem? You have to have a lot of people to play to actually have fun.
Certain things look strange in this level – like stumps that don’t even fall, could be replaced by walls, which would make more sense. An average job was done with the layers. However, the goody placement was great. Overall, the design needed some work.
Ratings:
Design/content: 1.0/2.5
Tile/event use: 1.7/2.5
Tile/tile compatibility: 1.3/2.0
Event/event compatibility: 1.0/1.0
Layer use: 0.5/1.0
Game compatibility: 1.0/1.0
Overall Rating: 6.5/10.0
How could this level be improved?
Using the layers and events more effectively could make this level a little more "alive." To improve the design of this level, you might need a little more obstacles in the level. Tiles would look better with each other if they were used correctly; Walls not being composed of one stump or similar ideas. Tiles and events could be used better together; for example, if you wanted to make tall tree stump, you could have it fall down after shooting it. Or, create obstacles that give damage to players – like those spikes, that Wakeman overused in "Dinostation." =P
Eyecandy isn’t a large factor in my reviews – the design is what really counts. A good design is made of thought, effort, tiles, and events. =P
A good job, Laguna. The levels you come out with are improving in quality.

Now its just about the level. You dont think im so dumb not putting the next level string in? If i ever play online its always with a next level. And the size wasnt a problem in The Jehlevator….
Hmm, hmm, i really dont know. Lets see: it has custom music and uses a custom tileset -> good ideas that make the level something "special".
Indeed, the level is interesting because its "different" but apart from that, "Funky CTF" is still a pretty odd pack/level. The tile placement, size(!) and eyecandy are very questionable in my opinion.
However, i recommend you to have a look at this.
Besides, Laguna keeps forgetting the next level setting.
Yeah, i fully agree with Laguna. "fantasy world" is a pretty nice tileset and has many interesting (animated) tiles.
All in all: very low seven points (6.6) because there is no example level.
This tileset is made by a friend of mine who left jj2 long time ago. Im sure he doesnt mind if submit this. I think its a pretty good tileset. Enuff tiles, good animting tiles, good background, i think its worth it :>
Nothing much to add to these ratings, however I must say the base placement is pretty odd…

CTF fans will probably enjoy playing CTF in this level as much as battle fans playing battle in this level. The CTF bases are placed in fairly odd, but reasonable areas. The Castle Crazyness level is especially strange, as it is designed like a circuit, and is linear. But after a while, you’ll get used to these levels, and they’ll last for some time. Both of these levels have fairly good eyecandy, which you can expect from a level made by Laguna. Still, some things seem like they shouldn’t be there, but that won’t take down the rating. Like Aiko said, download this level and give it a looksee.

Those are still very nice levels. As you may know, im a battle freak so i wont increase the rating
just for putting two CTF bases in the layout :-)
For everything else, read my reviews for "Bridges over Carrotus" and "Castle Crazyness".
Summary: HiGH six points because Laguna made it a pack now. I recommend to download it anyways ‘cause its fun to play!
Whoops sorry it says "Assault" instead of "CTF"
Im not gonna criticise yer opinions. I do think you cant rate a level on the level thats next.
This level gets -.5 from the last level I reviewed from Laguna for several reasons…
1. The event placement if awful. I find it a flaw to put springs on 180 degree slants, and to put weapons in corners, near an annoying masking.
2. The repetitive tiling is much more present in this level than his others, I didn’t like the look of several places.
Not as many indivisual flaws, but the flaws found were quite annoying.
A nice little battle level using the Casle tileset.
I myself don’t find Castle very hard to use, but onto the flaws…
1. Don’t put springs in the foreground. It gets confusing.
2. There’s repetitive tiling above pos 52,20. You should almost always variate the tiling.
3. The next level is Battle1. I’m not sure if I should decrease the rating for this, though. It could be a problem in fast multiplayer games, though…
Overall it could’ve gotten a 7, but -.5 for the problems.
Also, correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t this the level Bridges Over Carrotus is linked to? Just wondering.
Finally a level using a different tileset (censored! Thanks Laguna. Apart from that, "Boiler battle" is another
pretty average map. The eyecandy and design is okay: for example, the way the author tried to hide the v-springs is quite interesting. I dont like horizontal springs and vines too much though.
Well, all in all i think its a good battle. 6 points again :-)
Minor bugs (nonetheless they’re annoying): 1.) filename is messed up, 2.) no next level set
"Also, the next level is non-existant…"
Its non-existant cuz i didnt have a next level
Dunno why but i always have the urge to make small levels. Guess i should try making a larger level. Ok thanks for your tips :). Im off to JCS :-)
"Castle Crazyness" is a decent battle level by Laguna and in my opinion its slightly better than
"Bridges over Carrotus". From design to eyecandy, everything is pretty good. Disadvantages are the small size and the lack of super original ideas so still 6.4 points (its very close to 7 points)!
However the summary is that you should download this and have some battle fun :-)
This level uses the castle tileset, the tileset most find very difficult to use. Laguna used the castle tileset well, as the eyecandy of the level is nothing to worry about. Its not the size of the level that brings the rating down, its the layout. He used the layers well, but the level is just too linear. There’s one basic path in a small circle. The goodies in the level were also placed well. If this level were to be improved, it would have to be a little more open and non-linear. The level’s also a bit gloomy, but its fine for the castle tileset. Hopefully, the creation of this level made the creator better with the castle tileset.

Pretty average.
I like the eye candy and such but it was a little too small and had nothing special. Also, the next level is non-existant…
nutthing special..
