The first level, using a Disguise tileset (I forgot the name) is a good and hard level with some trigger puzzles and lots of suckers. It took a few attempts to complete the level, which is good (I don’t like easy levels). The eyecandy was decent, but what reallly annoyed me here was the foreground layer which hindered my view. After that comes my favourite level of the pack, using the Beach tileset by Nick Stadler. It has some nice puzzle elements with TNTs and great eyecandy. I love the background and foreground layers in this one, they give a cool atmosphere. It was again difficult, but a little less than in the less level. The third was again a good level, but worse than the second. It uses Castle Eclipse by BlurredD and has some of the crate puzzles the first level had, with enemies falling from the top. The eyecandy felt a little uninspired. Most of the time it looked boring. Level 4 was a downfall. After killing a few enemies and collecting some ammo you get pushed into a boss arena with two robots and a bolly, but as the control Devans (for the robots) are at the top you can’t see anything for a few seconds and loose two hearts unfairly. As you try to kill one of the bosses you get hindered by a waterfall in the foreground, and can’t see anything again. I couldn’t beat this level, and gave up.
Overall this is a nice pack, though with some clitches. I liked the puzzle elements and the difficulty (apart from level 4). At some parts it could use more eyecandy, and a story would’ve been nice too, but I enjoyed playing for most of the time.
Nice music joice aswell, except in level 3 (standard castle music is boring).

More people can play it if it’s 1.23… though 1.24 makes no real difference.
The fog is incredibly annoying. The music is trash, but the game is sort of fun, It’s a challenge only because of the fog in the first level. It will annoy the hell out of you!

Alrightiness, here we go.
Level Desing-8/10
This level is refreshingly linear. Basically, a level you want to play as a cool down after you beat a rather complex level/pack. This level is a set path, which you sometimes stray off of to hit a trigger crate so you can continue your path. Which is ussualy bad, but Fearofdark pulls this off nicely. The result is a fun level which you will strive to beat(which isn’t all that hard). My 2 complaints are a bug near the end of the level where I cannot hit a spring, thus forcing me to use JJFLY, and the fact there are no checkpoints, so if a raven near the end of the level kills you, you have to start from square one.
Story-NOT RATED
In case you’re thinking, “Wow, sounds like a level with no story” you’re wrong. This part of the review will not change the score this time since it is only meant to inform. The story(from what I gather) is this: Devan attacks a city, so you go to stop him. But it’s a trap! So you escape the trap via secret passage way, and decide to rid the city of the remaining goons and leave.
Eyecandy-8/10
The eyecandy is above average. For the most part it looks like an official level, except bare. And there is one annoyance: The Doodril Optical ads that get in your way. Now, if they had some pratical use for a puzzle I wouldn’t be complaining, I understand something blocking your way can make a puzzle fun(somehow) but in normal gameplay, it’s annoying. Especialy while fighting off ravens.
Difficulty-7/10
Nothing too hard, the only thing that made this level challengin is the lack of checkpoints. But if you aren’t reckless like me, then you should beat it no sweat. The puzzles aren’t all that hard either(however, there was one oppurtunity for a great puzzle in which you would have to conserve ammo for, but the author left some of the needed ammo lying nearby. Go figure)
Placement-7.8/10
It’s average, but hey, there’s not alot you can do with a linear level. It gets a boost because some of the enemy placement seemed ingenious with the Doodril optical blocking the view, but it ends up being annoying.
Closing-
In the end, this is an average level which is good to play as a cool down from a harder/more complex level/pack.
Download Recommendation? Yes.
Co-op? Quite possibly, it could help having a buddy to fight off some of the goons.

Playability:
The levels were pretty decent for me. They were fun, but not a masterpiece. You travel through various JJ1 planets killing baddies, collecting goodies and sometimes solving a little puzzle. The levels were not very long, but the size was ok for me. Some more different obstacles would’ve made the pack more fun though, and some shields were toi easy to get. I found the bonus level in Lagunicus, which was cool, but a bit bugged. There is an event for secret levels which actually WORKS, though the author seems to have used the wrong one.
Score: 6.5
Balance:
I found the pack pretty easy, mainly because the only obstacles are enemies, which are not used in strategic areas most of the time. Increased difficulty would make this a lot more fun.

Creativity:
Most of the pack was pretty basic, some creativity was shown only in the secret level of Lagunicus, which was kind of original, and the few puzzle areas. The rest was pretty standard. Maybe more puzzles or some other stuff would make the pack much more enjoyable.

Eyecandy:
The eyecandy could’ve been a lot better. There were no major tilebugs, if any, but the background was often very empty and the sprite layer did not have enough eyecandy either. It’s decent though.

Fun Factor:
At the start of the pack there’s a message telling you Devan warped Eva to the end of the universe, therefore you have to travel through all those planets. However, that’s all so I guess I’ll rate Fun Factor instead of Story.
Apart from the easiness the pack was pretty fun, maybe a bit short but not bad at all. There could be more places with springs, poles, etc. like in the original JJ2 levels. Maybe some endbosses would’ve been cool too. Those who like fast paced packs which are not too hard will like this a lot. I found it too easy though, like I’ve already said.

Overall a decent pack. It’s not a masterpiece, but worth a play if you have like not too long packs with not too hard difficulty. The eyecandy should be boosted, aswell as the item placement should be renewed and changed a bit. Still I think it’s worth a 6.8.

This episode was something of a disappointment. Gone are the interesting ideas from the previous episodes, instead there are only four single player levels and a boss, mostly without interest. Now that the sparkle is gone, the levels must stand on their own, and they are revealed to be short, and often uninspired. The eyecandy varies between levels – Technoir looks good, while Medivo is positively ugly. There are no “next level” bugs this time, but that doesn’t make up for the fact that yes, this installment feels heavily rushed.
So, these are ordinary single player levels, but what kind? The “shoot shoot shoot” kind. Jazz runs through a series of passages generally unloading his blaster at each new villain, few of which are placed in very interesting locations. There were a few well done areas, but for the most part these were quite generic and without interest. Perhaps next time the fun will be back, and maybe the author can even introduce a plot??? who knows.
Download recommendation: Mostly a yes, but if you liked the last two installments a lot, you may not want to download this one, where the bonus level is not even remotely enjoyable.
23,000 miles away is one of those rare sequels that seems to be better than the original, encompassing all the best features of the previous episode – decent levels, lots of secrets, inventive ideas and no storyline at all – and adding them into new tilesets and new levels. I was a bit worried by Tubelectric, which was short and uninteresting, but the levels got bigger and better from there on out. The levels in this pack are still probably a little shorter than your average single player level, but there are several, and they all play well. Significantly fewer bugs than last time, and better eyecandy as well, though there were still some dull aspects.
This is just good in general, so it’s hard to find complaints, but I do have three. The levels are a little too short, some of the secrets (containing major stuff like powerups and shields) are a bit too easy to find, and there’s a general lack of story. I saw no real reason to be playing these levels otehr than the author having fun with different tilesets. Oh well. The levels could also use some more food and gems.
EDIT: Oh! The wrong Candion conversion was included in the .zip. Bad. Rating decreased to 7.9.
Huh. What we have here is a very nice single player pack, and it’s only part one. The levels all have their own individual style, and feel more or less like they belong in that tileset. Lagunicus has a lot of caves, Dreempipes is more trigger based, Diamondus is simple and flattish, etc. However, none of the levels are really all that remarkable, and there’s no apparent story, so this is not too much more than a collection of decent single player levels, all using JJ1 tilesets.
What the author lacks in level design ingenuity, he tries to make up for in flashy special effects. Strange sucker tube arrangements, fun secrets, dropping bombs, and even bonus levels add to the replay value of this pack, which alternates between normal gameplay and interesting diversions.
Unfortunately, the levels are not perfect. The eyecandy is not bad, but a lot more could have been done with the tilesets, causing some parts of the levels to look rather bland. There were also a number of tile bugs that I spotted – for examples, the slopes aren’t masked correctly in Lagunicus, and everything looks wrong underwater in Dreempipes. The last level incorrectly links to JJ16.j2l, instead of the boss level included. So there are a few problems.
Still, this is fun enough to play at least once, and how many good single player levels have you seen uploaded lately? This should help the wait for TDI2, or TR2, or FSP, or whatever sequel you happen to be waiting for.

No eyecandy??
This level has two different ratings, 6.5 from Wadledee and 1.7 from Cooba.. I don’t know which is right so I will review this to find out.
LVL DESIGN AND EYECANDY AND STUFF
The level consists of various tests, in each you have to do something different. Let’s begin..
GAME 1
Here you have to jump from platform to platform and avoid some spikes and stuff. I dunno if the spikes hurt or if you get warped back, because I didn’t get hit of them. It’s very short and you don’t need the last platform to reach the trigger crate. Above the crate there’s a full NRG carrot so I guess the spikes hurt. NEVER DO THIS IN MULTIPLAYER!!
GAME 2
I don’t know why this one is called Trigger Blocks, because you just have to use TNT to smash the blocks. Also I think you don’t really know what a test is. A test is a parcour where you have to get through, but don’t hit the sides because they are filled with warp events. This one has nothing to do with the test mode.. However, it’s very easy and not a real challenge to collect TNT and press the shoot button.
GAME 3
In this one you have to jump over some weird things. It’s again too easy and if players that are not so good play easy levels they won’t get better in my opinion.
Well, after that three thingys I got to the level 2 challenges and got stuck in level 3 which is impossible because some platforms are moving too fast and I always fall down and get back to the start.
Eyecandy is not great either, the background is a bit dull, and the tileset is boring.
I expected a level with tests, but this is something totally other. Well, the idea is good, but it’s pointed out in a bad way. Also keep in mind that you should never use weapon blocks (for example for seekers) if the player has TNT :P
Overall, I don’t agree with Wadledee, he rated too high, but I also think Cooba rated too low. This deserves..maybe a 2.7 I think.

You would say: “Another test. Bleh…”, but this is not a test like that. You could improve the eyecandy, though… There are some tests witch are easy, very hard, and normal. At the end there is a test u cant play out. If you’re Spaz and you get in, you CANT get out. You have to walk over a racing line witch goes very fast! The problem is that it goes TOO FAST!! Spaz wont be able to get out there, so thats not very nice. But the rest is okay. Nice tube-background. You did work on this test. On some places you can get hurt…(.)And thats stupid: You have a test witch need weapons to get out. TNT bouncers RF… But if you didn’t get enough TNT at the first, and you get in another lvl like this, you cant get out! Your TNT is on another side of the wall where you’re playing on that moment. :-P But however, I will rate it. You get from me a… 6.5! If you work more on eyecandy, could improve your rating.

Wow!This level is execellent. Really good eyecandy. This level is huge. There is lots of room to move in. The gems are placed really well. Try making more levels like this fearofdark.
