This program is most excellent, providing a whole new way to look at the Words that each J2L is built upon, making it quite easy to do crazy things such as move various scenery effects (destruct and trigger) to the foreground, background, or tiles that already have events, opening a whole new realm of possibilities to level creators. Expect to see this used for spikes appearing beneath your feet, a “key” on layer 1 that shows you which triggers you have activated, and other things so awesome I haven’t thought of them yet.

Ok, Real quick I would like to say that the “Polka dot” tiles are connector tiles. They allow you to connect the white to the black to the checkered main blocks.

I see what I did wrong with the program. I’ll fix it all and let you pick the amount, then I’ll reupload it as G2C 2.0

And violet, both Gems and coins, every amount to health will have this problem.

Sorry about this, it was 3 AM when I tested it, and I missed that major bug.

I should have the next version up before christmass (BIG week ahead, not sure when I’ll get a chance to re-do it.)

Alright, let me try my hand at reveiwing a tileset.

Quality: A little more smoothe than Blade, less detailed then Disguise.
6.0

Land: Very flat. There are no slopes. Only one varity of land. Rather boring. One good point, you arn’t missing any peices.
-slopes -boring = 5.0

Stuff: Missing: Tubes, Belts, and H poles.
-3 = 7.0

Blocks: Forgot all the weapon specific destruct blocks execpt for bouncers. The ones this has were drawn like blade does his.
- Weapon specific, + Blade = 5.0

Usable: The tiles are somtimes pixels off, but mess around with the order and you can make it look nice.
-Pixals, +They DO fit = 7.0

Masks: I see no bugs in the masks, although you should have masked some part of the trees.
-Trees = 9.0

Tile Placement: Rather scattered. I had to try mutiple times to get the mountains to work, and I’m not sure if thats even how it’s suposed to work. The signs and blocks are all tossed around, and the main ground doesn’t line up perfectly by itself.
-Scattered * 5 = 5.0

Size: It is a bit small. I would expect for a tileset this size to have less varations of the same floor tile and more of everything you missed.
-stuff = 5.0

Eyecandy: Well, there are two trees, small background hills, and interior dirt. The change of sprite colors in the night version is cool.
-forground eyecand -sprite layer eyecandy -animations +nice pallet = 4.0

Asthetic: (My bias) Nice try, but I would go back to making stuff like Crypt. I know you can do better, i’ve seen it.
6.0

Total: (6.0 + 5.0 + 7.0 + 5.0 + 7.0 + 9.0 + 5.0 + 5.0 + 4.0 + 6.0) / 10 = 5.9 ~ 6.0

You arn’t supost to rate the level, you are supost to rate the fog and how it works and how well I showed you how to use fog. Not the level.

For those who are asking where I found this, I was playing with JCS.ini settings. I let the limit for light be larger than normal, and I got a bright light. I figured out that a steady light is set at 100, so if the light was brighter, it would leave a hole. I then replaced my edited JCS.ini with a normal JCS.ini and looked at the properties of the set light event, and red was set to -1. The fog still worked, so I saved it then started playing with pultz lights and flicker lights in fog. I made the large level to test the fogs capabalitys, and then the science fair started.

I’ll just quote what Unknown said:

“This is an interesting idea with a bad level backing it up. The tileset is used well, but the level itself makes me think about waiting for the author to try this again.”
Also, on the third level, not only can one of the people with the shields get all the powerups, but the person with all the powerups can get to one of the shields (via Electro blaster)
So, Nice consept, just work on the level a bit more. I would like to see all the start pos seperated, so that everyone doesn’t start in the same place, and there ar a few dead-ends in the battle, which is not a good thing.
All seven of the points are for the concept.

First off, it is TSF.
Pro’s: The Animating Tap works.
Con’s: The entire extent of the ground is some non textured generic tan counter, which has some of the grid left in it. There is also a giant cup that is masked solid, some bricks that look solid but arn’t(They look AWFUL when tiled), and a generic gray peice that is masked. There is a drawer eyecandy that actualy can be tiled correctly, and a cup or somthing that is tiled incorrectly, as you have to put it next to a tap that can’t animate. There is a slope that takes you a half a tile up, and another slope that is the first, just fliped. There is also a four tile logo of the person who made this. Oh yah, no background. The only thing I could see being made of this tileset is a cube that has grid lines on it. Basicly, I could make somthing in paint in about seven minutes that would look like Agama compared to this. Next time, spent time on your set, make sure everything tiles correctly, and make sure to get rid of the grid. Ok, if 1 is non-existant, 5 is avrage, and 10 is peferctly flawless, I give it a 1.8. There isn’t a 1.8 in the rating box, so here, have a 1.7. Download not recomended.

A truly hand-drawn tileset, and not half bad, either!
It looks very cartoony, has cows, and all the tiles seem to line up well (I havent played with it that much)

I give it a good, solid seven.

I claim first download and first comment.

I’ll be back to reveiw it, but it sounds cool so far.

=Edit=
Very nice.
I havnt tested it a lot, but from what I’ve seen, it works great.

The interface is very user friendly, and it does what it is ment to do.

Awsome Idea, and way to go on making it work. This wil be very usefull in CTF games.

I don’t rate things very often, but this is flawless, and very usefull, so i’ll give it a 10. If anyone finds somthing wrong with it, tell me and I will fix my rating.[This review has been edited by N0B0DY]

Automask.

The set is about 120 tiles big, but only about 40 of them are used. It consists of Sand(Texture WORKS, just dosn’t look like sand), Badly drawn Cacti(I don’t see any peices to connect the Cacti to the sand), Two clouds(One of which dosn’t work because of a one pixal error on the tile to the left), two background tiles(one with stars, one without), and a somthing wraped in cloth(which also can’t fit into the ground).

Don’t download this.

I could probly makes somthing better than this in a half an hour.

Really now trafton, I didn’t find it THAT bad. I entered the contest, and I downloaded everyones entryes, and for what Disguise had everyone do, this one prob. could have one a prize, if he had entered it sooner.

Yes, it is small, but the graphics are awsome. Eats Trafton’s 3.5

Download? If you like small naturely abstract tilesets, (like me) get it. If you don’t, then get it and see if this changes your mind.
