Psychic tileset. Finally! :D
A pretty nice battle level, here. The layout could have been better, as Flash said, too lineair! You could improve it by adding more hills and paths. Also, the level has mostly open (unused) spaces, doesn’t really look good. However, weapon placement was good, as well as the groovy background music. Also, using a well-underused tileset adds up more points.

Overall, not a level you should download for the great eyecandy. No, you should download this level for the same reason you download all of F!re’s levels: Big mass fighting – play this with alot of people! a 7.2

Cool, indeed. But I really don’t think this deserves an 10.0. The level is sometimes really looking empty, but that’s prolly cuz the non-existant background mountains. The level is nice, has some good ammo plaecement, maybe a bit too few but that doesn’t really matter. But now I see why this level looks empty. It has not enough groovy flowers, trees or caterpillars. Also the platforms are maybe a bit too linear, and in fact there are really some empty places. But the music adds the points that you lost with emptyness: it’s excellent! A really seventies disco song (or something, I’m not from the seventies ;). It kinda reminds me of the music from the “Monolpoly” PC game (part one, from about 4 years ago or something) and Jamiroquai ;).

To sump it all up, a 7,0 is yours.

EDIT: Oops, reviewed whil low detail was on. Added 0,5.[This review has been edited by Fl@$h aka BlewMeUp]

!? F!re, did you bribe MattW and Xan to give your lvls a super high rating??
Cause, simply, although ya lvl’s pretty nice it doesn’t deserve that much?!

Oh well, let’s get started with the review. This is a very nice lvl for a first one and it has excellent eyecandy. I luv the background stuff and the Nile and with some few major changes in the lvl, you could put water there to make it more realistic. Also, there are also stuff like diamonds, pillars, statues and other nicey pyramidy stuff. :-)

The weapon placement is OK but is a little bit too scattered around for a lvl in this size. The powup placement is also OK and it’s not so hard to get them although I wish you had changed the freezer powup to bouncer powup.

The gameplay and lvl design is better than the weapons placement. I discovered no dead ends whatsovever and there’s not too many obstacles but however, the gameplay can be rather…eh…jumpy ;-) cause there are some obstacles that spoils the otherwise good gameplay.
The fastpaced Egyptian style music also fits this lvl well.

I haven’t got anymore to say, this is a good medium sized lvl. Download NOW.

But the idea of a western set is original also the indians and the saloons .

The idea of using one of Blade’s incredible tilesets is already worth some points. Very good choice, F

Not to mention the level: it has a very playable design (good enemy and goodie placement) and some layer work that’s worth looking at.
A big disadvantage is that the author didn’t include the music in the ZiP file. Actually, i wouldn’t accept that and rate the level as if it had no music but i had to make an exception here: the background tune “Ancient Mystery” made by finnish tracker RAZOREDGE sounds very cool and fits great into the atmosphere of the level.
Oh, and the underwater boss at the end is not my favourite part of the level, by the way (horribly slow even on my super-fast 1,5 GHz PC).

Anyways, to sum it up, “Ancient Aztec” (hmmm, i could swear i heard this name before somewhere…can’t remember) is a MUST DOWNLOAD for all Jazz2 fans, because it’s one of the few very good single player level using one of Blade’s elite tilesets. Good work, F

P.S.:
As soon as you include the music file, i will increase the rating to 7.5, F!re. So lemme know.[This review has been edited by Aiko]

Hey, always nice to see levels like this! Ancient Aztec is nice single player level, but little short one. The eye-candy is different, something fresh. I liked it. The music was pretty good, but it was short, too.
Keep out the good work, F

Tell me if you are making a level using my tileset. I’ll rate every single one. Understood?

Nice level, f!re.
I didn’t really notice the carrotus tileset as overused, but that’s because I’m not really a collector(I only rate and download sertain levels, like my enemies levels. he he j/k)
I really don’t have much to say, because I really didn’t pay much attention to this really cool level.
There’s an idea stuck in my skull that this treasure hunt level was gotten from the idea I had. But forget that &

Same procedure as every time: thanks for not putting an SP starting event. CTF players stink!! :-)
Errr…okay, back to my review:
The layout of “Flaming Flags” is pretty good, circular, good weapon and powerup placement and so on. The eyecandy is okay and the D.a.m.n tileset is underused anyways (good idea, F!re).
Nevertheless i found some small things i dislike: the spring constructions at the bases can get very annoying after a while, as well as the heavy metal music (“The Fat Price” by a guy called Salkin…just a bit overdone, F!re, don’t you think?), which really isn’t worth its 850 KB size.
Plus, what Fquist said about the readme file is very true.

Still, a very decent CTF map that should fit well for some online jump and run action…i recommend you to CLiCK THE DOWNLOAD button :-)

The idea to put the bases behind springs that need to be frozen is better than most longer game attempts (mainly bonus warps).
I haven’t seen many levels in D.A.M.N. Tileset either so Ill give this a good ol’ 7.2

Hmm this review was a bit on the short side.
I think the weapon placement is okay too.[This review has been edited by BlackDeath]
