Yes, this set almost has everything it needs: animations, poles and vines. It still needs more eye candy imo. I still wish you added that 3D background, along with walls for layer 6 or 7. Makes a set more…shall we we say usefull? ;) The grey is nice, but if you want to score with me, use gradient.

OK, I won’t rate this, just review it. Bjarni, what are you up to this time?
The way I see it, this is more of a story than just a pack of levels. Even though the levels could be a lot better, it’s good to see that Bjarni’s improving a bit (not much). The levels are too liniar (too straight, in one direction), too short, they have too much ammo and too many same enemies. Same places are reachable only for Spaz! Still, i like some ideas (I even liked the pattern the ghost rapiers make when they attack you, how about that? I know, I’m weird).
Bjarni, it’s good that you keep trying to make good levels, but how about sending them to me first, huh? I don’t think others like you for filling this place up with your levels.

OK, I’ll go easy…afterall, i had to deal with Bjarni’s levels. Let me review Triforce’s one at the time.
1: Bombcha castle
This level isn’t that bad. Layout is average: it has a spring room, food room, bomb room and a giant hall. The eye candy could be better. But there is one thing that bothers me: there are too many goodies and they respawn too fast too. The music (which is unfamiliar, i assume from a Zelda game) is pretty dull, sounds more like a MIDI than like a MOD. O yeah, did i mention a faulty next level setting?
2: Carrot in Beserk Zone
This level kind of like the first, only a bit smaller. Only this level has something big: a GIANT empty space, where you must balance on carrots. At the end of that room you’ll find the powerups. A nice feature is when you land on the spikes, you get warped back to the beginning of the level. Music: see the first level. This level also has a faulty next level setting…
3: Big Mountain of Weamond
O no, not another Diamondus level! O well…This level starts with a big empty hall. Well, it’s basicly a linear level with too many goodies. It has some rooms, same as the previous two levels. This time i recognise the music: MT. Tamaranch from Zelda: Link’s Awakening. Still sounds like a MIDI to me. Phew…this level has good next level setting…
Conclusion.
Sorry, no d/l recommendation from me. Maybe newbies will enjoy this. But the levels simply have a too average layout and too many goodies. And faulty next level settings. This all adds up to a 5 (I’m too kind, I just know it).

Since these are “demo” levels, I won’t rate them.
What Bjarni obviously was trying to do is to create a “tutorial” for the JCS. I emphysise him. I mean, I wanted to do something like that too (how embarassing).
The levels are pretty simple and easy to understand. It only shows how the different events work. That’s all there is to it. A beginner would have no problem understanding it, but what if he doesn’t know how to place events? ;)
Like Bjarni said, it’s only for JCS beginners. Pictures often say more than a thousand words. If you can’t figure out the events, try these levels.

Guys, before you go complaining to Bjarni again, let me go first.
OK, this is a very simple battle level using the Inferno1 set (Ice), adapted from the offical level i might add (look at bg). All it has is some some platforms with way too much ammo which doesnt even respawn (reappear, Bjarni, a very important thing in battle). It also has a water level that ONLY works in MP (ppl, test it in MP) ok?) That’s all i can tell.
Bjarni, i know you’ve been trying your best to make this, but you have to try harder. If you want to be a good level maker you have to improve yourself. Try looking at other ppl’s levels (I’d be happy to show you mine). But if you keep creating creating levels like this…ppl won’t be happy.
edit: 1 download and 3 reviews? Suspicious ;)

Guys, he’s only trying to make a good level, and you’re not helping at all! At least read my new article before reviewing this.

This is a much better set than Ceramicus. Based on the basic Stonar set from the Tiles folder, it has some minor things added (mountains, and a decent sky even). The only thing i can complain about is that the masking can be MUCH better (we all prefer SMOOTH lines for masks) -.5 points, Cell ;)
- JelZe GoldRabbit
Good job, Cell. This is the set that was missing from the standard Jazz 1 Cd sets. It has everything the planet has (which isn’t much, but enough to make a decent level with it)…but you might like to know that the pallete is messed up (wrong colors and such). -1 point for that, Cell.
- JelZe GoldRabbit
Sorry, i won’t rate this if it’s TSF. Compile the set in the normal JCS 1.23
This is a very nice set, with an original concept. Who ever heard of a tileset of a lava lamp :) It has nice hot colors, like yellow, red and black, basic blocks, and lava lamps? Anyway, this is worth of downloading :)
- JelZe GoldRabbit
Ewwwwwwwwwwww…Talk about gross :p
This is a nice set, looks just like one of Agama (only a tad smaller). Like the author said, it’s slimy! Could use some more eye candy, then it would be perfect. Only one downfall: the author said it was 1.23, but it’s TSF! -0.5 point for that, Skulg. The example level looks OK.

About time i reviewed this…
Sonic the Hegdehog and Jazz Jackrabbit, how many SP packs have been made with those two together? (don’t answer that)
OK, the 5 levels in this demo are well done, except the labyrinth level, too open. The gameplay is quite easy, finding trigger crates in various places, finding your way through the levels…That’s basicly it.
Since this is a demo, i’ll give it a 7 for now.

Don’t we all love Agama, because of his sets? :)
Agama surpassed himself this time with this set. Lemme start with the basics… The set has very nice Egyptian things, like wall painting, vases, pillars, pyramids in the background, you name it. But what the sets make so special (there are two versions, day and night) are a number of things. I’ll start with the use of colors. It’s superb! Even with Ambient Lighting off, you sometimes get the idea it’s on. Some tiles are very dark, and be used instead of Ambient Lighting (i happen to play with Lighting off). The edited palette colors are also worth mentioning. The palette colors have nice tones, which fit excellent with the themes.
Conclusion: you have to see this set to believe it!
- JelZe GoldRabbit
I just have to review this…i dunno why :)
OK, this level is almost like Carrotus (by Mariek), only with better eye candy. But the eye candy still needs improving, like enigma said, background tiles are used in the sprite layer (i bet she took that after her sister ;))
Conclusion: I was gonna give it a 5.5, but it’s narrowed down to 5.
-JelZe GoldRabbit
Ok, if noone wants to review this i will do it…
The first level isnt that bad. The lay-out is very linear, eye candy is OK and it has some nice challenges… The things i didn’t like was that tiles that were meant for the background were used in layer 4, and the water part (toasters don’t work under water, but appearantly the author didn’t know). Also, on the lowest part of the level you see “floating background”, which is very bad. I couldn’t review the second level, because the author either forgot to uncheck the “Hide in Home Cooked Levels list” box, or forgot to set the next level setting to Carrotus 2.
Conclusion: I’m taking it mildly with one: a 5. Mariek, test your levels every once in a while. Also, i took .5 points away since you made it in TSF. (Levels are prefered made with version 1.23, if possible)[This review has been edited by JelZe]
I believe the official name of “Czechia” is The Czech Republic, Aiko :p
Yet again, another amazing tileset from Agama. He already surprised with the Heaven tileset, but this one’s the same quality. Like the author said, it looks like mixed tiles from JJ1. Here’s what i discovered (they only LOOK like JJ1 tiles, mind you):
- glowing walls from Tubelectric
- pipes from Orbitus
- fans from Fanolint
The example level (i wish Agama had shown off each of the three sets ;) ) has great eye candy and music (rocket.xm, see Aiko the music expert’s review), but thats all there is too it. O well, can’t win’em all :)
This is a MUST-download, just like the Heaven tileset :)
- JelZe GoldRabbit
Well, I’ve seen a few X-mas packs and believe me, this one’s a huge disappointment
First of all, the levels (3 in total):
The first two are completely the same, only the enemies change. They are too short, too liniar, hardly any eye candy, too many power-ups of the same kind (maybe it’s for Co-op, i dunno). Need i say more? O yeah, one more thing: the music is missing.
Sorry, can’t give you higher than a 4 for this.
- JelZe GoldRabbit
Aiko, get some glasses :) Ot at least check the sets in JCS (like i do).
I’m not familiar with the “Magic Boy” game…This set is pretty good, like Aiko said: red shaded stone and wall structures, lot of other stuff, in the meantime goodies or powerups. One downfall: it seems that the set is FULLY masked (Good morning, Aiko ;)), which i REALLY hate. Nevertheless a good set if you don’t mind reosrting to layer 5 ;)
- JelZe GoldRabbit
Well, i certainly enjoyed it :)
This is a very good SP level by F!re, which uses the 7th Lava Fall set and custom music (naranja.xm, i don’t think Aiko will say this tune fits here ;)).
First, the eye candy:
The level has a pretty good background (the red fog and the buildings), altough i wish there was no Textured Background (i play in 8-bit you know). In the level the eye candy is pretty changy.
Level in general:
The level has some nice features, like looking for trigger crates. And the level is pretty long. There aren’t many enemies, so put some more in your next levels, F!re. The Bolly (Medivo boss) is waiting for you at the end, but F!re appearantly forgot the Limit X-scroll event.
Conclusion:
A download recommendation from me. I enjoyed playing this level and i know you will too :)
- JelZe GoldRabbit
O my…If Aiko sees this set, he’s likely to eat it! :)
And Shadow, you’re not the only one with that idea ;P
Ladies and gerbils (no wait, that’s not right) Disguise made the PERFECT tileset. This tileset is just TOO good. It has lots of variety in landscape tiles:
- a rocky surface
- The moon
- a green I-don’t-know-how-to-call-it.
- A space ship
Further more: tubes, mountain background, groovy skies. The only bad thing is: NO animating tiles, the set is 1020 tiles (!) big. Now if you had TSF…and why am i telling all this? I order you to download this right away! Then check it out for yourself. :)
- JelZe GoldRabbit
P.S. I wanted to be like Aiko with this review. Didn’t work. Now i have to copy it to TSF in case Aiko will host it :P
