I can’t say that I like this tileset as much as some of the people here do, but it’s still a very good tileset. The ridiculously named “ET’s Planet 1 v2” features a high-tech landscape but is a bit on the smallish side. The metallicly shaded doors look superb and are great examples of textures at work, but the purple ground just doesn’t seem to fit very well. It’s drawn well, but it clashes in color with nearly everything else in this tileset, so it takes some tweaking in order to get levels to look good or how you want them to look. Still, it is pretty good ground. There are some neo-techno colored stuffs, and this tileset is chock full of whatchamadoozles that I am not sure are actually an item, but look good in metallic levels anyway. The green waterfall and grass is almost like that found in MeZmErIzE, but not nearly as well done. Still, they are again perfectly fine. The hills for the background are well-done, but not perfect. This tileset is an example of a good tileset that just isn’t extremely good in any area. If it had been worked on a little longer, it might have became a beloved classic. Still, it is worth an eight and a download recommendation. This is one planet I recommend you inhabit.
Danyjel, you arent suppose to rate music for games, you rate the actual game, not the music
From a TSF tileset, this reaches near Dean quality.
It has excellent drawn ground, nice looking leafs, cool bagrund with a working texture, you cant miss anything from this tileset.
Thought the name “Slimy land” dosent really fit after all, but I wont lower the rating becuse of the name COUGH
Its just too bad that its TSF.
Good tileset, but this tileset has little colors. Big and good.
This is excellent. I think that the colors look fine, and I’m not sure what some of White Rabbit’s other complaints were about, but some of them I agree with. Regardless, you should download this now or suffer eternal sporkstabbing.
White Rabbit you have problems. You say the set sucks yet it is up there in the 9’s. You give absolutely NO reasons why it sucks, either. I’m giving it a 10 to override your bad judgement.
Review will follow, gotta lot of homework, but ET, USE YOUR MSN! :p

Yeah, I was thinking about adding some more trees and improving the mountains ( I resized them to fit the space and the mountains became ‘blury’ ) but I didn’t want to increase the file size too much.

Yeah, remember the kangaroo that I removed from the set? I could tell you my AIM address but I haven’t been on for about 4 months so it’s useless.

Yeah mate, sorry bout the leaves, they could be better but I find drawing leaves hard. I was trying hard to add detail to the set and try to make it feel like a Jazz 2 set, but as a result the leaves look too much like the ones from Jungle. I also kept the destruct sign and text sign very simular to the normal JJ2 ones because the original jj2 sets didn’t modify those in each set, they kept them the same. I could have made the exit signs use the signs which have Arrows engraved on them but I decided not to. Same with the V and H poles.

I tried to put slime in the set but I guess it’s more like the slime snails leave behind, not really the slime that oozes down from things. While I was working on this set I came across ‘Slimeset’ so I tried not to make the slime anything like that otherwise you all would be accusing me of not making this set original, though I shouldn’t have bothered because you see this set as unoriginal anyway. I guess that sets attempting to be made in a ‘Jazz’-ish sort of style aren’t considered original. Also my slimefall was not inspired by the Mezmerize waterfall, if you were to look at both of them you should see that they are of totally different drawing styles. The method Dethman used probably would have suited this set better than the one I made because it looks more like oozing slime.
Also with your last comment –
“If you disagree with me and think this tileset actually looks slimy, then download. If you don’t think it is, then DON’T.”
^^^ Never judge a book by it’s cover, or in this case, never judge a tileset by it’s title, because if you don’t download it, how will you know if it is Slimy or not? Also just because the tileset may not look slimy to you, doesn’t mean you will hate it, you might like it because you see it as a colourful tileset.
When I first saw this tileset, I thought ‘It doesn’t look slimy at all!’. And it doesn’t. The whole tileset resembles a forest with vegetiation that has got an excess of chlorophyll.
I most say that Slimy Land really dissapoints me because most tiles of the tileset consists of mushrooms, trees leafes and forests with practically no slime at all (which also means that Slimy Land DOES have life). Also, the water looks more like my Grandma’s chicken soup than gooey slime.
Even tilesets such as Slimeset has got better slime than this. And with its originality gone (the “slime” being the originality), the tileset begins to show off its really weak points. Yes, it has got decent eyecandy and no tile bugs. Yes, the palette looks really cool. But the problem is that everything this tileset got, many other, even better tileset has got too. This makes Slime Land an un-original and very boring tileset. The slime waterfalls are very similiar to the ones in Mesmerize by Dethman, the mushrooms can be found in Psych 1 and 2 plus they’re animated there too, the trees and leafes can be found in Swamp of the Sleeping Jaguar by Agama and the forest stuff can be found in tilesets such as Jungle and Forest by Blade.
This is an un-inspiring tileset and I will probably never be able to be able to make a good lvl out of it. The only thing that stops me from giving Slime Land a bad rating is that the author has obviously spent lots of time on it, and the tiles are made perfectly.
This is a fairly well-made tileset. Nice, high quality tiles but a bit un-original. It’s worth giving a try, but there are definitely better tilesets out there.
A 7.
Cheers,
White Rabbit.
EDIT: It’s a wonder how time can change your mind. :-) Raised rating to 8.7 because the tileset is huge (I, for some reason, didn’t notice that) and it does look really, really slimy!
EDIT 2: I am such a mindchanger, aren’t I? A 10% increase in the rating. :-(
Eh.. I tested this? OMG, yes! I remember it all now. My gosh that WAS a long time ago. About 5 months, roughly.
I still say the name is Slimey but…. on to the review.
I hate mushrooms. Strangely enough, this has a beneficial impact on the review, if anything. I set those little ‘shrooms to destruct scenery and boom them with all sorts of wicked weaponry. Mmm, yum. The level’s great, honestly, I just can’t explain it very well. It’s certainly come along in leaps and bounds since I last tested it. I also love the backgrounds, strangely enough. (what gives, dis?) All in all, a D/L recommendation. (Duh).
Off-Topic: ET, what’s you AIM nickname? Maybe you have MSN? ICQ? Any or all of them would be good.
Pitty, I would had appreciated it more if it was for 1.23, I dont feel like making a lvl for TSF since most people dont play it. Really, too bad. Its a very nice Tileset, worth 6 levels :)…
Cool Tilesets there, ET.
I’m at school 2 :P so I only wanna say: keep making tilesets like these, they are increadible[This review has been edited by Snowball]
FINALLY you upload this :D
I’ve got tons of this set ahnging around my Hard Drive, but I’m at shcool now, cant give a huge review, I’ll keep this here as ‘pending’ until I get home. Can’t say much until then.
Small Review thingy:
It’s a great set, but the extra background stuff could be a bit better.
Well. erm.. cool tileset, it looks great, but, the idea of a land with mushrooms and trees isnt that orginal, and the leaves on the trees, they are ehm pretty ugly I think, that method of drawing leaves is used many times before and I dont like it..
Erm.. The tileset has a sort of deja vu feeling sometimes, but it also has great new things like a huge hollow tree, a cool wierd tree in the background, and ofcourse everything is covered with slime.
The exits signs and the destr blocks are very much like in the official tilesets.
Basicly this just aother forest tileset, but this time covered with slime..
I’m just not as exited about this tileset as the ppl above..
BUT after all this negative stuff, the tileset has much tiles to build a good, and not fast-boring lvl with. It’s all great drawn and I dont see any really ugly things except the leaves, and the fact that the hollow tree is an exact circle and it’s very very thin.
D/l recommendation, if you don’t want to build another ‘normal’ forest, but an slimy one.
I’m too lazy to write an extensive review describing every single tile, but I’ll give you an idea.
Think Blade’s Forest, only with mushrooms instead of trees, and lots of other stuff.
Oh well.
Anyway, this has a lot of great stuff, especially the sucker tubes, except it doesn’t support T or + tubes, just -, | and |’‘ ones.
It also uses what is one of the only good palette modifications around (“Woodlands” by Blade is the other that comes to mind), as well as lots of stuff. Basically my only complaint is that the insides of tree tunnels don’t look too good.
I even bothered to wait the two minutes to takes to load TSF tilesets to look at this one in JCS.
Maybe it would be possible to make a ‘lite’ version that cut down on the tiles so that it could be used in 1.23. If you can do that, I’m all for it. It sounds great and I can’t wait to see it!
Exelent tileset! It’s almost Agama style. YaY! Ahem.. This tileset has pretty much everything that you need.
Very good eyecandy. Download recommendation.
I’ll upload it on Silly Wabbits for download.
anyone mail it to me size no problem
plz!!
thanxfrom scatman
