You said this zip has an example level included. It hasn’t. It is exactly the same download as the one you uploaded before, so the rating won’t change for me.

If I were you, stop uploading anything that has to do with this tileset, and try practicing alot! I’m sure you will create a good tileset soon.

Ah…my first upload on J2O..brings back such..such…DANGED memories! >:(

Oh well…Look what we got here.
first of all, this is not a 1.23 tileset, but a TSF tileset – please tell that in the authors discription!

second: the tileset is horrible. There are some pokemon in it, but the colors are ugly, and there arent any good blocks to build with. Then, tiles don’t fit – you just drawed all over the stencil, without looking at the squares!

I cannot give it higher than a 1…but…I’ll give it a 1.2, because somehow you did manage to create a tileset.

Wow- this IS good. The tileset is so good-looking, it looks like a REAL crypt. Good job!
The whole set breathes a dark, gloomy atmosphere, nice for scary levels. Also, Nitro added some funny elements such as skullheads and gravestones. Too bad he didn’t include more eyecandy, it would have been even better! (Maybe an idea for a version 2?)

There is only one small mask bug – the big pile of skullheads has a small dot in it, so you can get stuck at it, but you can easily delete this bug, just by placing the pile on another layer.

A 9.0 – very good tileset, but a lack of eyecandy. Everyone should download this NOW. (argh, Nitro – failed again to get above a 9 here eh ;))

pretty good level. The layout was more than decent, but it was pretty empty at times, try to fill up stuff more…
the level has some nice details – the Jazz1 tilesets are always very basic. Cell has added a cool feature, sand and rocks will fall off the ground you walk on, just like in a real mine! Weapon placement was good…grabbing ammo isn’t hard, so you shouldn’t be afraid of walking around with only your blaster (which can be upgraded, though.)
One big lowdown: the brown cavy like background in the lower part of the level simply hurts my eyes, it makes them focus on the background, and meanwhile you are pretty much disorientated in the level…(don’t laugh, maybe some other people get this too)

Overall, a good CTF level. Flagmen – download!

(looks at all ratings above and is surprised) -the tileset is way too basic. way too basic! It looks pretty nice (well…Disguise, you can do better these days!), and it only contains some basic tiles and a background. Can’t really say more about it. Tileset freaks may want to get this…
Stop uploading old tilesets Disguise, we want new ones ;)

Pretty small tileset. Goo-looking, but small. The idea is nice – playing around on fishies is funny. Yessss. But the tileset is actually pretty boring, cos there is hardly any eyecandy (NO, you cannot call the regular building blocks eyecandy, no matter how beautiful they are :D). People might want to try this, maybe not. I dunno. Taste varies, and I like chickens better :D. a 6.7.

Another race-level! (celebrates for the underused gamemode)

The level was petty original. It had some standard traps (like the hor springs, they bounce you back), but most of them were new ideas.

There was (IMO) a huge lowdown – the level felt way too linear at some parts. You had to press buttons to open doors like 5 times. Then there was a jump, with a whole lotta blue springs. It would have been better if the auhtor has mixed the obstacle doors between the other traps. Also, the level features way too many springs, sometimes it made me wonder if it was the goal to run backwards…

There was ice available to freeze your opponent. There were bouncers, which could be used to open blocks. But the author also put in (useless!) RF missiles. They have absolutely no point in Race, and they did not serve a goal like the bouncers.

Overall: For your first Race level, this is a very good one, but it will not last that long. Practice some more on future Race levels, I’m sure you will create perfect ones. A 7.

I guess this will be my final review for 2001, :), let’s get going!

The level was pretty good. It uses the Carrotus tileset (very overused!), but heck with that ;). The layout was good. The fun was spread over the whole area, it’s not that you suddenly enter a huge open space, everywhere you go there is something to solve or fight. The author did not use any background layers (or, if he did, I could not locate them). However, the great amount of (great) puzzles made up for that -Puzzles were excellent. The paths are lineair at times, but it is always filled with carrots, flowers etc. etc. In the whole level, I could only find one bug – there is a plant growin out of nowhere. I think the author is on his/her way to become a JCS pro, post more of your stuff! A 7.7. next time, use more layers, add a nicer music and I think you will be on your way to…err…victory! :)

It is nice to see that people are creating Race levels again, we didn’t see much of them…However, this level is absolutely horrible. The goal of a race game is to quickly race to the end, yes, but I think the author took the word “fast” too literally. There are absolutely no obstacles, all there is is an ugly line of craps, some lines of ice (which you can use to freeze your opponents – pretty useless actually, you are all swimming with equal speed, so the one that starts in the front will always win). One lap will take you like 12 or 13 seconds. Bjarni Cool, I strongly suggest you use the original jazz levels as examples, so you can see how to create beautiful levels. And about that 7, you ain’t getting it. This level is not even worth a 2 (probably, It didn’t even took you 2 minutes).

Yes, it WAS worth it! The Dinocraze is back again, with this extremely awesome kewl Single Player pack!

As Jazz, you have stranded on “Site-B”, which is, as many people will know (or feel-this pack isn’t called “The Lost World” for nuffin, filmfreaks :P), infested with dinosaurs. Some elements from the Jurassic Park movies were put into your fav Jazz game, such as the long grass run, and a meeting with the big guy…well…can’t really tell, that’s a huge spoiler- but I can tell you it is AWESOME! The levels weren’t extremely easy, but they weren’t extremely hard either. Sometimes they were a bit short, but heck with that! The cutscenes are marvellous, I really like what you did with them :)

Dunno what to add more…Move over Tomb Rabbit, push The Other Dimension back into it’s case, ‘cos here is the Lost World!

I think I will have to congratulate you 2 with (one of) the first levels that use Agama’s latest! claps.

The levels have a big amount of detail. Just huge! If you are looking for eyecandy, this is your download ;)
However, the gameplay was, due to the huge amount of detail, pretty awful. You cannot actually see where you are going in some places, making it hard to evade or attack. Also, alot of jumping in this level.
Weapon placement was pretty ok, although I kinda dislike this type of ammo spreading (like Blade – mixing sorts of ammo, so you constantly have to keep pressing the ammo keys to switch back…), don’t think I can really take off points for that.

Overall, this is a good pack. Do not take if because of the gameplay, take it because of the detail, and the fun. A 8!

A tileset about a forest ruin. It doesn’t have the real “Jazzy” feel like Agama’s Nature tileset has, instead, Disguise (again) manages to give his own feel to the set: 3D-ish style! Wow, Well done and Weefun! The whole set looks very, very nice. Trees, statues, rocks, everything looks just right. Well…dunno what to add to the review anymore, I think everything is said, so I suggest everyone who has not yet downloaded this should do so immediately. I would also suggest people to start mixing Disguise’s and Agama’s latest, plus a bit of the original Jungle, to create some wowy Jungle-packs! A solid 9.2!

edit: Barney will lose. He is outnumbered ;)

What do you get when you mix Jazz with an RPG? Something like this I guess. (And to be honest, that is exactly why we never play any Jazz RPGs…)

The idea was kinda cool. Like in “Cracco Land Of Coins”, the goal of the level is to detroy all crates, then find your way to the exit. But where “Cracco Land Of Coins” had some fun in it, this is absolutely boring. Not just boring for a battle-freak. No, like boring for everyone who has a private life. The level exists of a certain number of times. In every time, your goal is to…you guessed it…stomp crates. You also get some info about the time and what happens in it, but you cannot really interact with people, solve quests and stuff, just the normal running and stomping. No enemy to be found either.

The tileset isn’t that great. It consist of mostly tiles ripped from all kinds of stuff, like RPG maker to Final Fantasy. Plus the usual Jazz stuff. If you really want to make something that is fun to play, make sure you have something nice to look at as well.

The music was horrible. It is another one of those old RPG musics (Ok, there is nothing wrong with RPG musics, but this is Jazz. Jazz is “hip”. Jazz is “groovy”. Plus, the file sounds absolutely awful in Jazz.) Next time, try to find music that fits both Jazz and the theme.

So, here is a small list of Pro’s and No’s:

No:
-Bad tileset.
-The level is boring.
-The music is bad.

Pro:
-The idea was good. Too bad the workout was bad…
-It is not a battle level.

Next time, make sure the public you create stuff for is interested in the works you create. Never think something is good because you like it yourself, best is to hire a team of testers who can give their opinions before you release your work.

I was gonna give this a 5, but because I feel bad because you 2 worked so hard on this…I’ll put an extra +0.5 on top of it.

Ratings like these, make me wonder if people are really rating the levels, or rating friends…

The idea: another test level (boringgg..ok, let me get this straight: we are not 3. we do not want tests or hotels. we want real levels. quality)
The tileset: Carrotus. (over, overused. Very easy to use tileset, an still the author manages to make huge mistakes.)
The tests: kinda hard to call them original. There were some good ones, but the rest was the usual test-madness.
1. Wind+ warps=dang!
2. Maze= dang!
3.The rushing frog idea was done before by F!re. Dunno if you took his idea or if you thought it up by yourself, anyway, it’s not new.
4. Huge amount of baddies + regeneration = dang!
5. simple, a test level= dang!

Where the author tried to create a fun level, he creates a horror for us hard-working level builders. I assume the author is not the most experienced JCS’er out there, and I am not saying he/she should be, but I would like to suggest not to make any tests or hotels. Practice using the different tilesets, and create real levels. I am sure you will succeed. Oh, and a final note: from all the test levels, this WAS the easiest one, so even as a test it wasn’t that good! sorry..)

a 3. Learn to live with it, and go practice on real levels. Good luck!

(the reviewer of this post is not out to harm anyone by using offensive talk or the like. You cannot sue me for this either. Thank you) :P

A battle level with the same name as one of the official Single Player levels…:D

The playability was pretty decent. Most places were accesible. Some places weren’t (as Jazz, it is kinda hard to jump over some walls. And there were no springs there!).

Weapon placement was good. They respawn a bit quick, but since this is a small blast-it-away-on-someone-level, you will quickly run out of them…
Only one carrot in the level, so expect people to die quick, better put up that roast count!

Use of tileset: could have been better. The houses look almost superb, there are some small errors to spot. The author hardly used any of those fine background walls, and most streets look empty…too bad.

Level is decent. Gameplay is decent. Eyecandy is not that good. Fun: awesome!
Good cure for a day of stress!

Overall: a 6.7, battle fans should get it, others might want to try it once.

Huge+hard+puzzle= bingo.
The level was pretty big, it kept me busy for about 6 or 7 mins, which is pretty neat for a single player level. It was hard, and hard= good. Puzzles were very good, dunno really what to say about them. The tileset is IMO a bit boring, but since it is not yours, I can’t really complain to you. Music was boringggggg…almost made me fell asleep, could have gone sleeping in that giant maze forever, ya know…

Overall: Very Good level. Some small things (music+set) make it boring, but you should play it anyway. Hardcore battlers should stay away from it : hurray for Single Player!

Actually, I don’t like this skin very much. It is a plain black skin with some red an yellow colors. The Big Jazz/Spaz pic looks ugly cos it is deformed. The special cursors were pretty nice, but not nice enuff to make this a good skin. Try to create a goodlooking skin, make it look nicer, use more colors, and keep the cursors.
