Well, Im sorry but this is quite bad. The level is mostly very linear, and is way too open in some places. Flow is decent, but its mostly decent because of the linearity.. im not also sure if only 1 way to the base is a very good idea. You should make levels way less linear in the future, Soul.
Also: im not sure if the base placement works, due to the fact that red base is way too easy to defend considering how it is placed. Same with blue. Some areas also kind of have no purpose..
Eyecandy is ok, but it mostly looks very bland.. There’s also a bug with foreground layers near red base.
This was quite a quick review, and I suggest that if you make more ctf levels, you should make them less linear and make them have more routes and stuff.

This level needs lots of work. It suffers from gameplay, eyecandey and placement issues that I will cover. A tip for new comers, ALWAYS test your levels before you upload. If you can’t beat them then you need to make changes.

Story
Non is given so I won’t rate. Another good tip. It’s always a good idea to give a story.
Eyecandey
Almost nothing is given. Background is basic. There’s something in layer 6 that is just some floating platforms. It doesn’t work. Layer 4 is basically about 5 tiles repeated over and over again. It’s very bland and the level looks empty. Everything is floating. some layer 3 would have been nice. As it stands very bland so i can only give a 1.

Gameplay
The level is very broken mainly because you can get stuck. The main mode of transport is warps. But the beginners trap is present, where the exits are placed too close too the wall and you get stuck. Another sign this wasn’t tested. Other then that no much too talk about. There’s a Queen boss at a point in the level but that’s nothing too talk about. Falling out of the level is easy and there’s no way too recover. There’s 3 carrots that aren’t needed. Little pickups. No challange and enemies you can’t really avoid. Overall I can’t give more then a 1 for broken gameplay and the fact it can be done in like a minute or 2.

Only about 15 bats and a queen boss. Only problem is you can’t really avoid the bats.

DR? I’m sorry but i can’t. The level is unplayable without cheats and it is too short. Eyecandey is bad and overall it’s no fun too play with no replay value. I give it a 1 and no DR but don’t give up. Read some tutorials, practice and get some people too test the levels and give feedback. I hope this has helped out. :) Better luck next time.
It’s Shelly’s fiirst level and I must admit, this level is not bad for a beginner.
Yeah I don’t like the pu’s replacements but with a bit of practise she can make it. And also the eyecandy could be better.
Hmmm, not much at all. Just only a few Bats you can’t dodge and other stuff.
Try putting more time in your level. Also not that bad should be placing your Warps on smarter places and not next to walls… you get stuck in that case.
Ammo was only TNT, and enemy placement was quite bad. Just only… a crapload of badly placed Bats and Spike Bolls. No other enemies.
This level also lacks any kind of secrets and Trigger Crates.
All pickups were placed on bad spots. No secrets, no use of other layers than layer 4 and 8.
I also ran up against a few errors which could crash the game, and that isn’t good for the gameplay of a level…
DR: No, for obvious reasons.
I’d give this level a 1.2 .
However, a lot of improvement can be made. A LOT. Download a few other levels first and put more time in your levels.
The only good thing I noticed is the Spike Boll near the Queen and that there are two paths to do. But one of them doesn’t work due to Warp Exit placement.
When I made my first level (Mines of Diamondus), it took me nearly two weeks (and eighteen hours spend on the damn thing).

Agreed with FireSworD. Gameplay is NOT nice,pickup positions are random with Lori/Spaz biased parts,and the eyecandy… Coin stuff is probably stolen.
I would suggest admins to remove Unearth’s biased rating,since he is in the same clan as Shelly. I don’t know why Shaker rated it so,but it’s probably biased again. Try again.

Hmmm, @NovaStar: see, the age of a computer does not depend on its system of operation. For example, I have Windows XP Professional, but my computer is quite old, I bought it about 4 or 5 years and until now it crashed 3 times and it needed to reinstall the Windows, and it’s working hard, I’m spending just much time to write a review and to post it. I really smile if I atualy post one with up to 400 characters. So I think I’ll not install this add-on, only because I’m afraid that It will crash again. I’m a realy big fan of Jazz2. I keep up to 2200 files that has reference to it. I think I have some GBs in my Jazz folder. ~Me, the silly one

The eyecandy is new and good,(reminds me of a serbian game Xox myb its in english too dunno)the background is textatured its good but I dont like textatured anymore(it wont change rate dont worrie)I like the grass and others stuff near it,the flash things are good and “flashy” =D,Okay so you made good eyecandy with this tileset.(8.9)
Gameplay I agree with Anubis the blue has quite some advantages and power ups…Its like all goes to blue =P,the gameplay is okay though even if I played this 20 times I still get lost when I get one some spring when I want to go for red base…Yeah I agree too there are more ways to aproach blue.(8.0 Its okay but The blue has still a bit more advantages :S.)
Originality there is one originality that I never seen in a level,its those FLASHY things =D.

So this is a little game about shooting turtles. But is it fun?
The point of the game is to shoot a couple of turtles withing a certain time limit or else they kill you. It is a very simple game but it is still pretty unplayble. The flying turtles fly out of the screen most of the time which is really irritating since they can still shoot you but you can’t shoot them. So I ended up loosing a lot of times because of this crappy programming.
The second major problem with this game is that it doesn’t remind me of Jazz Jackrabbit at all. You shoot flying turtles in diamondus but the background doesn’t remind me at all of diamondus. The sound effects and all the other stuff doens’t remind me of Jazz Jackrabbit also.
The graphics are pretty decent though with a nice amount of detail.
Overall this game looks quite decent but it’s simply not fun and does not resemble Jazz Jackrabbit at all.
EDIT:
You can scroll through the level using arrow keys, this improves the gameplay greatly. Sorry for the really bad rating earlier. I still think that the graphics don’t resemble Jazz jackrabbit and diamondus. Some prober documentation is also needed. Music gets pretty annoying quick.

This is a nice little level with a good background and good eye candy. The layout is not too special but good enough. This level shows the potential that the creator has, and these kind of people are the ones that we need in XLM. Good job.

First of all, welcome to XLM. I haven’t tried the gameplay, but from what I see, it seems to be a bit biased towards blue. At blue it’s easier to camp both directions from where the enemy could approach you. Another advantage of blue is the faster access to a full energy C and the seek PU, and there’s also more seeker ammo near the blue base.
The power-ups in the level aren’t the most useful ones, the blaster pu or the gun9 pu aren’t of much use in an open level like this, which leaves seek the main weapon to use in this level. It would be nice to see a bouncer power-up here as well (maybe under the bridge).
The eyecandy is good. I think it would look better if the blue tube at the gun9 pu was in front of the ground there.

The eyecandy is fine. The X and O signs,the wooden thing and the further background looks really nice. The usage of those…vines was awesome. I think they were set on the right place. But,I have a feeling that something more could be added to foreground layers. By the way…that tube could be added to foreground.
