If you gave this tileset 8.5 I belive you have very low standards.

So… The review. (I wasn’t going to complain and then not leave a review myself. ;D)

This is a tileset that can be found in many tilesets, (mostly first tilesets) some bricks of rather poor quality. Why are they poor quality? Because they’re texture less, and they don’t tile vertically properly. Eragon might want tot consider making all of the bricks the same size to increase realism, also doing more then just a few brush-strokes of work on the bricks. The tileset contains some three tiles that can be used for background bricks. They do contrast the color of the normal bricks, but you should probably try to make the mortar (stuff holding the bricks together) more apparent, as I had to put my face a few inches from my screen to see it. There are windows, shutters, and some unidentifiable yellow stuff. That is the tileset. Except of course if you count the 290 tiles of ‘eyecandy’ which is actually an image of a city that was obviously copy and pasted from a photo.

Now for the level.

When rating tilesets, the level is not included in the rating, the level is just to give the reviewer an idea of how the tileset can be used.
Just a note, Don’t password levels like this, it’s too much work for the reviewer, and I ended up having to hack the password away to view the level. The reason people password levels anymore is beyond me.

All in all, this tileset is very much like many peoples first tilesets. You might want to consider making another one, with a more distinct theme and more time spent, with more actual tiles to use.

First review! :D Going to review Tileset & level.

Tileset:
I’ve found a few tileset bugs, such as on the city at the bottom. What is the point of the big space in between the two identical cities?

The star could be a bit more star-like on the left bottom side.. The tileset deserves a 8.5.

Level:
If you do hit the scen crate, its too easy to fall in after that… Its a little hard to get the crate anyways!
You have to shoot some blocks 23573459762957239573466958 times just for the trig crate thats hard to break anyways because its next to the ceiling.. that means its hard for all chars to break. And whats the point of sticking the p UPs in undestructable blocks ? if you didn’t know how to drill, it would rather… unfortunate. the eycandy was a little over done, with the windows and credits. (Just a note, not including in rating until i get an answer, things with a delay of 5 won’t respawn?) Rating: ~5.5

Overall:
The gameplay was rather nice and with instagib and team battle it would be fun. Rating, 6.0. DR? Go ahead.

@birdie “When rating tilesets, the level is not included in the rating, the level is just to give the reviewer an idea of how the tileset can be used.”
its not marked as tileset ;\

I’m pretty damn sure the number one download rule is to only upload finished download content.
(It’s really the last rule, but it’s more designed to forbid demos and betas, neither of which this is. If a pack is not finished, and the author/s has/have no intention to ever finish it, then it seems only fair to let them put what IS finished onto J2O, so people can at least get a little enjoyment/functionality, if not the whole thing. I saw no complaints when Moonblaze uploaded the unfinished TDI2, for instance. I see no reason to not allow this to be uploaded, especially when it’s not even technically uploaded to J2O anyway. ~Violet)
At the time, the pack did not include the download links in the download info, that or I missed them-n00b

I would have found it more helpful if the levels indicated that you have to play as Spaz for the pack to make sense. I usually play as Jazz, and I found it irritating how I always got spawned in the upper-left tile.

It’s overall good, and I liked your use of eyecandy. Go easy on the dark areas in the future. I would recommend Set Light 0 and use Steady Light to mark the main path.

No level = No review.

Fix that.

Kubabuba, what program do you use? Winzip? XP’s zip tool? WinRar?
Rules say, it has to be a *.ZIP-file, not a rar.

This add-on is great! I’ll list some Pros.
Level Browser
Server Info
Co-op and Race serve options!
Shortcuts
Refresh list
Cons…
Freezing at level browser (!!!)
Hmm… How do i explain this… ALMOST NONE OF THE BUTTONS WILL STAY WHOLE (!!!!!!!!!)

Level browser is Great! You can see the level and the tileset! Rating: 25

Server info, is ++! You can all of the players on that server, the level name and the fur! (It sometimes doesn’t work…) Rating: 17

Co-op and race options, no more having to pull out controller just to get co-op! Its rather small but deserves a 20!

Shortcuts: Really handy, but it could be hard for new mIRC users. (ex. run “C:\Games\Jazz\jazz2.exe”) It IS great, I give it a 25.

Refresh list: Needs a little bit adjusting to just it perfect but still great. 20.

Freezing at the level browser: Not too bad but you could use some timers to regulate it? -10

Almost none of the buttons fit! a list: the < button Pallette “CL guide” Pallette dialog, etc. THIS IS BAD! -20!!!

25 + 17 + 20 + 25 + 20 _107_ - 10 - 20 -7 80/100.

DR SUPPERRRR

The reason we didn’t use the new tilesets you mentioned was that they probably didn’t exist when we built the fundaments of the levels. Most of the levels are really, really old; we have just upgraded them and put them together, and btw, if we would’ve used a new version of exoticus tileset, the walls would probably not be automasked so the wall climbing wouldn’t have worked. But thanks anyway for the nice rating!

EDIT: janus aka jahari, we’ve written that you must play as spaz in big letters, both in the lvl description and in the readme, and, in case some people doesn’t read the description or readme, we wrote it very clearly in a text event in the beginning of the first lvl. How could you possibly miss that??!

Maybe not the highest quality SP pack out there, but it was pretty fun anyway. The plot was hilarious :D/, fairly well executed through the whole pack. Most of the time I found the level design a bit frustrating, for most of the levels were pretty dark (especially the intro level), and overall it needed more ways of being hard than just placing a lot of enemies.

The levels looked pretty good, with some pretty nice tricks such as the waterfalls in the first level (you’ll get what I mean when you play). However, it would be better if you’d have used newer versions of some tilesets, for example NOKA’s Tubelectric SE, Violet CLM’s new Exoticus or Lark’s Bloxonius. Those are a lot better than the old sets you have used :p The music paired very well with the eyecandy, creating a nice atmosphere there and there (eg. Diamondus level)

Overall, the levels in the pack are around 7.5-ish quality, but the whole pack deserves a higher note for effort. Good job, I’m looking forward the other episode ;)

Ok time for a review.

The story is nice and original. First Spaz try to look where Jazz is and suddenly he notice that Jazz is dead. Then Spaz uses different recepies to clone Jazz back alive. Music fits nicely for all of these levels.

Like you said levels are quite different so gameplay varies a lot, but still there are nice gameplay in every level. Baddies placement is good and goodies placement is ok most of these levels. There are some puzzles also, but they are way too easy to solve. But overall gameplay is good.

Eyecandy is really nice in some levels, but in some levels eyecandy looks really empty. There are some tilebugs, but they are harmless. You have used some underused tilesets too like in level ‘‘666’‘ There are some cool effects in this pack like in level ‘‘The first try’‘

Overall good SP pack. It was fun to play and that is the main thing right?
