ARGHHH!!! Very nice level! Nice eye-candy and everything is well placed. The only bad thing is that I’m gonna have to remake my level… =( THis looks too similar to my level I was working on so people’ll get em confused…. Well again, nice job! ARGHHH!

An Ice Age tileset? W000pee! I’ve been waiting for one of these tilesets for AGES!

However, I was quite dissapointed when I first looked at the tileset in JCS. The tileset is just way too empty and simple. The snow tiles are grey and dull (but maybe it’s dirty? ;-) and are really boring. The background consists of only one, small blue tile. Blah! The snow isn’t very realistic either. If someone ever used this tileset to make a lvl, I’d recommend them to use the Jazz2 snow in the Objects/Scenery section.

The animations, huts, animals, clouds, the trees and the g00fy neanderthal hold very good quality though. They are all well made and realistic and cartoonic at the same time. Those things are probably the only good stuff about the tileset.

I’m very dissapointed at Ice Age. It’s too simle and boring. Better luck nxt time, Jaws.

For now, I’ll give Ice Age a ‘maybe’ for download recommendation and a 6.

Cheers,

White Rabbit.

When RagE first told me about his and Cell’s lvl, I thought: Oh no. Sounds like another “I wanna be just like Deth” lvl. And guess what? I was right! (-D

The lvl, which happens to be named Dark Dimensions, uses Dethan’s Mezmerized tileset and is quite well-made. Both parts of the lvl has got excellent gameplay and eyecandy and the secrets are nice too.

There’s not much to say really. Oh, actually there is: Did you get the idea of making half of the lvl each from me and Saiyan??

This is all.

I’d recommend Dark Dimensions to…er…

Cheers,

White Rabbit.

This level uses the Tubelectric tileset, using probably 20 different tiles at the most.

Design:
Eight minutes, tops, I’d say. It’s composed of a few Pluses made of the yellow blocks, a few small walls, and a floor. There’s a carrot in every corner.
Gameplay:
Well, it’s hard to get around, but I’d say you might be able to get a decent game out of this, if you had some rather open minded people.
Eyecandy:
Well, the background is the red bricks. There’s no background eyecandy. But the yellow blocks are fit together correctly!
Weapons Placement:
Not good. Each of the Pluses has three pieces of Ammo or Fastfire in its corners, and that’s it.
Readme:
Short, simple, and to the point. No rating influence, however.

Design:
There is, as the author said, a big solid X, with passages through each part. In the empty area, the author has placed four identical structures. Two with a carrot, one with some bouncy and seeker ammo.
Eyecandy:
The background is the cave tile, and the background eyecandy consists of one thing only viewable close to the bottom.
Gameplay:
I’m guessing this level wouldn’t great to battle in. Hard to maneuver in, for one thing.
Weapons Placement:
Well, they’re all in one spot, but what there is is semi-decent.
Readme:
Short, simple, and to the point. However, that doesn’t effect the rating. :P

I also get a run-time error, but instead of the thingy S.S. mentioned, it says “Runtime error ‘339’ – component ‘comdlg3.ocx’ not correctly registered: file is missing or invalid.”

Erm…. wha?

Hey, this is great!
It will help me soooo much if i ever finish my project…

This is my first time reviewing, so hows this?

Usability: 2.7/3
The “tools” and “Control” menus looked like buttons.
That is a little confrustrating, besides that great!

Unbuggieness: 3.7/4
When you change to CTF from battle it acts wierd, besides that, Great!

Tools: 2.3/3
Very useful, but you should have left out the selfdestruct option.
That could be considered cheating.

3.7 + 2.7 + 2.3 = 8.7

8.7? That dosn’t seem right…

Oh yeah! + 0.5 for the readme!

9.2 for you!

Oke let me explain why I give it a N/A before I yell ‘HELP!!!’
I think there is a error in the program or I installed it wrong.
When I press on Controller.exe the program works I see the splash-screen but then
there pops up a Alert window and says:
Run-time error ‘50003’ Unexpected Error.
After pressing OK it shutts down, I tryed to put the controller
into the map which the Manual installs but that didnt work.
I tryed to place the controller in the jj2 map, but no results.
Well I hope you can help me, or fix the bug. Whatever it is, has someone els has this too?…

Operating System: Windows 98 SE

Edit: Ow yeah, did I mention the Read Me is great![This review has been edited by Super Saiyan]

First thing that i MUST say: I like the tileset. The eyes in the tree are soo scary! :P Ok, now the level.
Eyecandy: Not too bad. Only layer 3 is bad, and the quicky thing on 6/7.
Gameplay: Ok. You can play normal in it.
Weapon placement: Not much… But not bad.
The music! Use then diamondus music!

Conclusion: a not bad level. For all jj1-fans. A 6.7 from me.

P.S.: About the comment from Electric:
Ok, ok. That’s right. I delete that :)[This review has been edited by Taz]

Very Good High Quality tileset like labratkid says but its a bit small and could do with some more tiles put in ( The Stomp scene blocks and so on ). I Like the example lvl and you showed how you can use the tileset to make alot of detail so i give you a 7.5 . Hope You Make More Tilesets

Very very very good levels. All the eyecandy is there, and the weapon placement is very good. I especially enjoy those sucker tube event things that are in many of your levels. One thing though in Mutilation Manor, a big NO on the music… Makes it seem… shudders I dunno… Just reminds me of something not good. But, the levels themselves are good
Download recomendation: Very Much so.

Very high quality tileset… It’s just that it’s… small!
Here goes…

GRAPHICS QUALITY: 8
The quality of the graphics is very nice; looks professional! :)
SIZE: 2
It’s too small! For the sprite layer, all you have to work with are a set of red platforms (which could look neat if done proffesionally), some spikes for the platforms, a rope, and four tiles for white platforms. There’s lots of cool background stuff, though.
EXAMPLE LEVEL: 7
A neat CTF level with good lighting made with about 4 different tiles on the sprite layer :)
Well, average those together, I get about 5.67777777777777777777777777. I’m in a good mood so make that 5.7, not 5.5 :)
Download? Yes, it looks very easy to make a good level with!

Hm, a level using mez01, a very easy tileset but nice to begin with.

There are even some stars in the background which make the level better.
At position 69,54 there is a bunch of blue blocks which are flickering. You can get thru them very slowly, but if you finally reach the bottom you fall. Whee.

For a first level, not too bad. I haven’t seen any eyecandy bugs!

And yes, Guido. I have seen all the warps. There are a lot indeed. I’ve included them in the rating.
By the way, you should know; warps are not everything. People dislike going through much warps to get to an area. They want freedom to move, not to warp frequently.[This review has been edited by Electric Ir]
