Even i think that this is a pretty awesome Capture the Lag…eh…Flag level.
From design(Wow!) to eyecandy (Beautiful!) everything is very cool and higly recommendable (DOWNLOAD NOW! :-).
Its a CTF level by Jeh. What else to say? (heh, another rhyme! heh jeh)
Design and weapon selection are very good, layer work is good and thats it. Just download and play this online. (Low eight points.)
Yeah, weird. And it gets very confusing sometimes. I should explain this: "Parallel Worlds" is split into two parts that look alike so you can warp from one "parallel world" to another. All the rest is of very good quality (layout[!], eyecandy, weapon selection[!]).
Summary: "Parallel Worlds" is another classic battle level that everyone should know and download. High seven points again.
This is an Evil Bill release. Its oldskool so it gotta be kewl i guess.
Apart from that, "Sting In Your Tail" is a very good single player level with lots of puzzles and stuff. Not much to say and low eight points (7.6) here.
"Where Warriors Fall" is one of my favourite Jeh levels. In my opinion the layout is pretty awesome and i really love playing this level.
Everything else is just fine (eyecandy, weapon selection etc.). Low eight points from me.
P.S.:
Extra 0.25 points for the level name. It inspired me to name one of my servers "Where Rabbits Rule". Heh :-)
A great level by a great J2 legend. The design is very very good, eyecandy isn’t bad also and overall its fun to play.
I dont have much to say here, i dont know. Maybe because its Diamondus!? However: Very high seven stars! Everyone should really have this in his/her level collection.
Wow, this is pretty cool. "CarrotClan Episode2" features 16 levels that show us many new interesting ideas (things i’ve never seen) and a very good layout.
The eyecandy is good and the levels (some of them use famous custom tilesets by Astronia and MEZ! btw) are pretty hard in single player mode and include many challenging puzzles. The pack also includes some well-know (but still great) custom music files that fit quite good in each level.
To sum it up, this pack is very very close to 8 points (7.4): you really should DOWNLOAD THiS and have some single player fun!
(Darn, im still unsure about my rating…maybe its EIGHT points, who knows? :-)
There are only minor bugfixes (back music fixed [doesn’t fit well by the way] and next level set) so i copied and pasted most of my old review (same level, same author).
—————
A very simple Diamondus battle level that makes use of one (nice) effect over and over again throughout the pretty large area. The design could be described as average but the lack of eyecandy is too obvious.
Also there is [still an] old bug: Hurt events in battle levels arent a good idea.
Sorry, i [still :-] cant give a download recommendation for this level.
—————
Okay, lets say high five stars (5.4) because you really tried to remove some bugs i mentioned in my first review.
Its just…it doesnt hit my style, sorry. Someone else rate this please :-)
Two cool battle levels using the Carrotus (grin) and the Jungle tileset. The author really tried to put some eyecandy in. The Design is okay also (some minor [tile] bugs and i dont like poles too much :-).
Definitely worth the download! (Very high six points!)
Yet another decent battle level by Laguna. Im not a Diamondus fan, but eyecandy and layout are definetely above the average. I didnt find any bugs except the next level doesnt work (again!).
Summary: Not much to say but fun to play (hey a rhyme!). High six stars…eh…points! Lets have a battle server!
P.S.:
Oh and im just reading Derby’s great and detailed review: as far as i know Hurt events wont improve a MP battle level like this because they only hurt the server :-) "Dino Station" was SP, of course.
Who is "MegaMan" again? Well whatever, this is a quite good, very colorful and good-looking tileset. And the example level shows what a skilled author could create using the set.
Well done, Newspaz. I dont have much to add to Derbys detailed review. Every tileset collector should download "MegaMan".
Wow! This is probably the laaargest level pack ever. If you are bored and want to have some single player fun i strongly recommend this episode.
All the levels (that use nearly all of the Epic tilesets plus the Mez tiles) are pretty neat and there are no major bugs to complain about. Design and eyecandy are above the average and some(!) of the custom music files are interesting (all in all most of them dont hit my favourite "style").
Its a pity that the author didnt make use of his own homecooked tilesets (they’re sooo cool, Blade!). Also the pack is way too large: some of the custom music files are redundant. Really.
However, this pack is much much much fun to play and i guess the author worked really very very hard on it (and for a very long time). Needless to say, this is a MUST-DOWNLOAD!
Very high EiGHT POiNTS (8.4).
Hmm, hmm, i really dont know. Lets see: it has custom music and uses a custom tileset -> good ideas that make the level something "special".
Indeed, the level is interesting because its "different" but apart from that, "Funky CTF" is still a pretty odd pack/level. The tile placement, size(!) and eyecandy are very questionable in my opinion.
However, i recommend you to have a look at this.
Besides, Laguna keeps forgetting the next level setting.
Yeah, i fully agree with Laguna. "fantasy world" is a pretty nice tileset and has many interesting (animated) tiles.
All in all: very low seven points (6.6) because there is no example level.
Okay, i hope wont regret this. Nine points(!) for this awesome tileset/pack (no celebrity bonus point, sorry).
Its very large and features a lot of good-looking tiles. The whole industrial look and feel (supported by the great atmosphere created by the music) of this pack makes it very very l33t.
The two example/CTF levels are also pretty cool: the "Jehlevator" is a bit small, though.
However, EVERYONE should immediately download and extract this ZiP to his or her Jazz dir. Its one of the best homecooked things i’ve ever seen.
Those are still very nice levels. As you may know, im a battle freak so i wont increase the rating
just for putting two CTF bases in the layout :-)
For everything else, read my reviews for "Bridges over Carrotus" and "Castle Crazyness".
Summary: HiGH six points because Laguna made it a pack now. I recommend to download it anyways ‘cause its fun to play!
"Payback Time" is a very good battle level using the good ‘ol Castle set.
Design, eyecandy…everything is fine i think. No major bugs found.
Furthermore, the level structure allows a very fluent gameplay and is fun to battle. Somehow i like this so i’ll give out low seven points :-)
Somehow, this pack is pretty funky even if i dont know the game "Chips Challenge". Well, the tileset itself only has some gray squares
with pictures on them and a nice textured background and thats it. The author also included a very small example level using a classic background music: a conversion
of canyon.mid from good ol’ Windows! :-) By the way i really wonder if converting MIDIs is a good idea if the output iT file is over 500 KB…
All in all, you should really have a look at this, ‘cause the author worked hard on it i guess!
Finally a level using a different tileset (censored! Thanks Laguna. Apart from that, "Boiler battle" is another
pretty average map. The eyecandy and design is okay: for example, the way the author tried to hide the v-springs is quite interesting. I dont like horizontal springs and vines too much though.
Well, all in all i think its a good battle. 6 points again :-)
Minor bugs (nonetheless they’re annoying): 1.) filename is messed up, 2.) no next level set
Diamondus JUMPERS v2.0 is a nice level. I dont have much to say about this level except that it is an early morning release :-)
yawn Diamondus…ok…eyecandy…ok…design…ok yawn what a sleepy review…:-)
