man this is good, no words to describe.. like agood chocolate cake that you just can’t stop eatting. i really can“t say much accept what crimiclown said that it as all the element of labrat in the funkiest style that can be heard.
i damn recommand this download and fod’s other funk tunes, belive me it’s worth it
At about 1:25 inward, the song is too groovy for words.
However it takes a while to go faster, and to be honest actually feels slower than the other funk remixes.
However, the song is reconizable throughout which is something missing from the Hell Freezes Over remix, also you finally got the ending thing down-pat.
All I can say, is that with these groovy remixes, you deserve that week long holiday.
Well, überquick review.
This got me. Awesome accoustic guitar, cool melody editing and \‘improvisations\’, amazing funky beat, fantastic background,
Things I don\‘t like: Stupid ending, feeling that you had to use all the melodies, even when not all fit. Too loud lead sample which doesn\‘t fit into overall funky style…
Anyway, great tune. Your best. DL strongly recommended.
TO JOSEPH COLLINS: NOBODY ASKS YOU FOR A REVIEW. SO IF YOU HAVE PROBLEM WITH TOO MANY TUNES AT ONCE, I ALLOW YOU TO NOT REVIEW MY ONES.
[Whoa, how did I miss this? Personal attack removal. ~cooba]
I just liked to say, you make awesome remixes, and in jazz format, so we can add some good musics to our levels! YAY! Make more >:]
Slow (maybe, in some places, a bit ambient) rock re-arrangation of Dark Groove track.
Even I don’t like rock, this… made me feel nice after this f***ing bad day. So, quick review.
The samples are fairly good (some original are used, but they fit), except for really bad electric guitar looping (very well hearable in patterns 29 – 38). Slow funky/rock rhythm is okay but I’d add some transitions, because I really missed them in this song. Next thing I dislike are patterns 13 – 16, it looks like you had to use all melodies from the original. But. But. But.
The improvisations. In one word, Zomg. Improvisations perfectly coming from original, I have no words here, you MUST listen to it. In one word, awesome. Bravo. Etc.
The bassline is made perfectly, the overall structure is also okay. Although it’s a bit repetitive sometimes. But what. Go and download it, it’s a worth of it. Especially when you love rock… You’ll enjoy…
I really loved castle funk. This remix from the Hell Freezes Over music is quite similiar in terms of style and instrumentation, which is the first drawback. I had hoped it was a little darker (more like the original) and also something new, but at some points I thought it was just an altered castle funk version. It also took a while till I noticed the Hell Freezes Over melody.
I think this tune would fit well in some levels, but not those actually using the frozen hell tileset it was meant for. Still, quite funky again and it’s a good song to listen to. Not what I was hoping it would be, but worth the download.
Final Rating: 7.2, download recommendation

I probably suck, but I just don’t like it.
The lead samples are extremely high-pitched, it kills my ears, really. Lead also doesn’t fit into the rest of the tune. Funky beat is really nice, I like it, background is okay. Bass is okay in most parts. Thing I love about this are transitions; beat ends, long lead, bass changes. I also like the break patterns with that cool funky sound :). Time by time, it sounds pretty off key, and when there are parts when the tune sounds like nothing more than loudness…
Anyway, it’s really above-average mix and I do recommend download.
good job man, this remix is just great, realy this is the best funk music i heard including castle funk. the bit of the song in the beginnig plays softly with if i’m not mistaken a guitar and it sounds beutiful, after the soft beginning the song starts to play much like “hell freezes over” and this the best part of the music. the beutiful thing about this tune is that there are parts that seem not to apear in the original song but they combined in a very good style with the song (it starts in 1:50). for conclusion i want to say that this tune is worth the download so go and download it and listen to it becouse this tune is great. by the way, i hope that Fear Of Dark will continue make this tunes becouse they are great.
First off, let me begin by saying, immense improvement on the ending. Unlike Castle Funk, this remix doesn’t grind to a screeching halt at the end, it just gradually slows itself down.
You are much better at producing Funk music than rock, which seems immensly ironic. In fact this song feels so perfect, the only things I thinka re wrong with it are that’s it’s a bit too hard to tell it’s “Hell Freezes Over” at times, and sometime the samples feel a bit too loud for my liking.
Keep it up, Download reccomended
I’m not very good at rating music, so I normally don’t. However, this tune really caught me. It’s very catchy, I’m listening to it over and over the whole time. It makes me want to play JJ2 too (too bad I can’t, now that my sister’s pc is broken). I have not a lot more to say, other than that n00b is right about the ending.
Good work, and a download recommendation.
this remix is great, really good espeicelly the way that the castle tune sounds in funky style. this remix is defenetly one of the best remixes made with the castle tune. the style of this remix reminds me of the city in jazz tsf and i think this tune will be perfect for levels made with the city tileset. i have no complains about this remix and i don“t realy understand the structure of a song or how to analyze it but i can say that this remix is in no doubt one of the best i heard. i hope that Fear Of Dark will continue make this outstanding remixes but till the next tune enjoy this one. by the way……. i recommand this download very, very much.
This is great but just one problem, whenever I go to the 1st bonus level in Diamondus (Carrot Hills) and then go to the 2nd Bonus level in Lagunicus (Sea Water Caves) I get an error saying “Secret level cannot warp to another secret level.” Can this be fixed?
Also, I like the way the timer is used in the Bonus levels. How do you do that?
I can’t fix them until I know which ones don’t work. The Diamondus intro is fixed.
Well these levels where pretty good. but i’m not going to rate them because half of them didn’t work, when they get fixed i’ll rate the levels.
BLEH! My first review for this pack was rubbish.
EYECANDY
All the levels are set in the JJ1 style tilesets. They all have good eyecandy. None of the levels use a Textured Background but they do use the JJ1 style background which looks great. There was a tilebug in the Layer 8 background in the second Tubelectric level though. The wires didn’t join up correctly. But I didn’t notice this until after playing the pack for about the 7th time now so it’s excusable. There were no tilebugs in Layer 4 in any of the levels. Nothing looked repetitive.
The use of the lighting events made the level look more interesting.
The entire pack was like another new JJ1 episode. I forgot that I was actually playing JJ2 because everything looks like JJ1.
So overall, the eyecandy is great.

GAMEPLAY
The levels were a very good length. They weren’t too short or too long. The whole pack took me about 2-3 hours to finish. There was some Trigger Crate puzzles to complete in order to proceed through the rest of the level. I like the way you had warps in the wall in Diamondus so that if the player gets stuck they would be warped near to where they got stuck.
I like the way the intros are done before each world. Intros are done like the loading screens in JJ1.
There was a bug after completing the 2 Industrius levels however. I was at the Turtemple intro, but when I walked right to go to the first Turtemple level, I was warped back to the third Tubelectric level where the “?” sign was. Wow, these secret level events sure are buggy.

ITEM & BONUS PLACEMENT
I thought that there wasn’t enough Carrots to be found in any of the levels. I was at 1 Heart health quite a lot. There was plenty of ammo to be found. Some levels had a Bonus Area which I liked. The Bonus Area in the third Tubelectric level had a Bonus Gem (like the one in JJ1) you would touch. It would then unlock the way to 2 secret Industrius levels. Coins were very well hidden especially in the first Tubelectric level as the first 6 times I played it, I couldn’t find the 20 Coins.
9.5/10
ENEMY & OBSTACLE PLACEMENT
The small turtles in the 3 Diamondus were annoying IMO, as they caused me to end up at 1 Heart health a lot. Other than that the enemy placement was good, none of them were in any annoying places. The Tubelectric levels had those blaster thingies (don’t know what they’re called) like in JJ1 and they hurt too. There was also all the usual JJ2 obstacles as well including destruct & buttstomp scenery and Trigger scenery.
8.5/10
TOTAL SCORE: 36/40 = 9/10

DOWNLOAD?
Since I’ve given it 9.0 what else do you think I would say? Of course, my DR would be YES! :D
It’s a shame that this isn’t 1.23 compatible as this is an excellent pack which has not received any ratings until now. If you do have TSF download this pack now.
I think this is a better review than what I had previously. :P
SHORT COMMENT:
Thanks for using my tileset.
LONG COMMENT:
Thanks for using my tileset. With this level many beautiful things are happppened. I had known a very pretty girl. I and her became good, GOOD friends playing this level. She hadn’t never played Jazz, and you can guess who is the winner. You made a wonderful job. I hope that I and my new friend will remain good friends forever cause of this level.
2 things you need to fix:
1. Some levels can’t be found when you try to open them, like FODDiamintro.
2. You need to hide the level from the “Home Cook” list so we know which level to start on.
That’s all I have found as what is worng, so far. Fix that then reload.
Rating Journey to the top:
Punishments:
1. Only level 1 is hard, the other two are easy. (-2)
2. In all levels the tilesets are the same ones. (-¼)
3. There are not very much bonusses (-¾)
Bonusses
(none)
