Really? I checked the memberslist and he’s not there.
And before you’re starting to talk about Shadow: He was Mystic Legends, and he still has the ML way of making them.
The problem I have with j2lc is that they got some names and friends (contacts) and often get overratings and I’m not the only one who thinks that way, as u heared splash also thinx so. No offence to the people, but to the way it happens.
No mate, this Agama-quality and it sure rocks![This review has been edited by $TÛNT$]
Very good tileset. It got everything the ueser needs and is very userfriendly. However there isn’t much to put on other layers.
Almost a 9. U must have this one in yer tileset list.
Pretty strange guy this Dopey (that’s one of the seven dwarves). I guess he didn’t even take a look at one of the two files (or perhaps didn
t look at both). He’s just trying to be a j2o addict as fast as possible just like another person, I won’t his name.
Anyways the pack:
This is a typical Fire Pack, as I played many of em which aren’t posted here. They’re not the best lvls, but they sure are the most original lvls. Every author sticks to the tileset concept, F!re didn’t and that’s what I like. The psychic tileset is a funky, weirdo styled tileset. And F!re used another music file, made it somewhat darker (Dopey said he couldn’t see a thing. tip: glasses) et voila a weirdo lvl with horror mix.
Toxic Wasteland has a very original background: A city sunken in toxic waste. Very ace. this pack also uses some underused tilesets. From which soem of em are hard to use cos there aren’t many tiles in it.
The boss is the best I ever played. Instead of the standard bosses which are far to easy, the author used a very cool way to make it harder.
However like Fquist allready mentioned, there’s too much space. U can easily fly over em as Jazz (or Lori). Eyecandy isn’t perfect, but adequate.
Rating 7: F!re is a good example of: practice, improves. His first lvls (which aren’t posted here) were quite lame. But now he’s making fun and enjoyable lvls. So all the: I-make-a-lvl-in-15-minutes-and-wast-some-space-on-j2o-ediors. Take F!re as and example.
Future Evolution is sure to be an ace CTF pack, not perfect but ace. A must be for CTF fans I guess.
The eyecandy looks perfect: The author used max. out of the tilesets and the layers are used very efficient. However in some the lvls it’s 2 confusing and slowsdown gameplay.
The gameplay itself isn’t perfect, rather normal/good. Some springs are placed awful (and if the’re is one thing I hate it is that). The springs are very important ingredients for gamespeed. Some lvls have these “bad-springs”. Bumping yer head against walls or being stuck behind debris cos of a spring, that’s real annoying when u have the flag and a bandit on yer six (especially one with RF missiles).
The music choice is perfect, my personal favourite is wessyT2k.mod the file used for Waste House. This file is actually a remix of the music file this same Author used in Toxic Waste.
To sum it all up this one definetely deserves a 9. It could be higher if the the “badsprings” and other “slow-down-gameplay-things” are removed/enhanced. But hey, it’s a beta perhaps he’ll change to make em even more perfect… I certainly hope so.
Then y are u saying something then?
Hotels aren’t really lvls. There’s just….things. Often heared sentences are: “Let’s jump into the pool” or “Can I have a room?”. Reminds of when I was about 5 years old: Playing mummy and daddy is about the same, except in hotels u play a person who wants to rent a room. It’s the same “When I grow up concept” or they’re just short on cash and can’t find a room in real life.
As u can see I don’t like hotels so I can’t review them cos of my not-neutral opinion. I just want to say run u could run it as a server but putting it on j2o is just a waste of 128128 bytes.[This review has been edited by $TÛNT$]
Fire allready knew my rating. But here it is for other people, who didn’t know:
The lvl used the Jazz 1: NeW’s Mayhem tileset made by Haze Hackrabbit and is a very underused tileset. The tileset is a combination of Jazz 1: Decksta, Jazz 1: Industrial and Jazz 1: Muckamo. The Jazz 1 tileset lack of good backgrounds and the author did a great job by making a very new background: A city sunken in toxic waste.
The gameplay itself could use a little tweak but overall it’s ok.
The music fits the lvl not so well (the version I played used a musicfile from Jazz3D).
If u’re a real 1P fanatic who’s sick of all those standard lvls like castle and diamondus: Download this and have fun.
>The “very original” sequel to Mountain is called Mountain Trip (I guess it’s a sequel), anyways here’s the review:
The is tileset is slightly better than Mountain. It has the things to build a fresh lvl, except, still, it hasn
t got the layer use. Some plain air and stripes as rain isn’t enuf.
But if u’re not very confident with JCS I advise u to use this one, cos it lacks of all the possibilties JCS offers and is there for (too) simple.
For the advanced builder: Look for something more challenging than is, but if u really wanna build with it u can download it, who’ll stop u?[This review has been edited by $TÛNT$]
It’s far too standard. Just some plain things to walk… Not very much thought about things to “decorate” the lvl with, like hanging vines, rubble or something else. The tileset doesn’t give the user the abilty to use different layers.
But hey it’s Disguise a 7 should be minimun, most people will think. Well not for me.
A 6, nutting more nutting less…
Average lvlpack, nothing new, nothing bad, nothing exciting good.
Download it too have a good time with it, but for more exciting gameplay u should download lvl from 8 till 10.
Psychic Tileset, long time ago when I saw someone using that one… good job.
People allready shot the guardheads in the castle lvls. Now grab yer chance to shoot some alienheads(!!). Blood included and a not-good-money-back ensurence. Download it now…
Ps. Not suitable for 10 years or younger.[This review has been edited by $TÛNT$]
U just said lol Blackdeath but it is true. Just check all Stileto’s reviews: They’re about 3 lines long and sometimes even a 1 line comment. So I think a decease name would be much better placed here than lol.
A medivo based CTF lvl created by Fire. Like other users mentioned before the start postions are quite unfair -> always start at the blue base. Weapon placing is rather bad and the playability gets a low score too: Dead ends, using the wrong spring (green instead of red in some places).
The thing which is done good is the toughnes number for the bridge.;) I’ve seen lvls from J2LC and ML where this is done very bad and unrealistic.
The “Ice-Passage” is found very good, this way the Frostbiter gets very important in the lvl.
A good 5.2 -> Not bad, Not good. See for yourself.
Oh, excuse me SPLASH. I live almost nextdoor, so nice in real but being jerky here. Big mouth online, small mouth for real… Just told me that way in real life instead of asking it miserable.
Cos of your “friendly” way of asking, I’ll change it…[This review has been edited by $TÛNT$]
Everything is a bit standard and VERY overweaponed. The eyecandy isn’t very good, especially the ground.
However an underused tileset is often worth a go, so try it.
Ultimate sounds a bit 2 good. It’s standard and it lacks of detailed stuff (A coloured bar for a suckertube for example)
Not much possibilities for layer use, but a tileset which is easy to use and provides enuf to make an adequate lvl.
U could download this, but it’s not a must-have.
This guy just thinks: Me longer here, me know better.
SPLASH is right:
Out of 20 lvls:
Lvls under a 6: 16
Lvls between 6 and 7: 1 (Blackdeath)
Lvls between 7 and 8: 2 (SPLASH and Tazar)
Lvls between 8 and 9: nothing
Lvls between 9 and 10: 1 (Agama)
two conclusions:
“The newbies have discovered the excistence of j2o”
“People don’t take time to build a lvl and make it perfect”
This is just a small messages, I don’t rate 1P lvls cos I don’t have the expierence of building one. (I don’t like building them)
