RATING Wisety’s Wounders

This is my FIRST custom tileset pack i have downloaded, but ONLY NOW i write my review.
My recoomendation is todownload it when you have TSF-because there is a lot of tiles.

so that is:

Raging Inferno:
Nice tileset. Cool design. Not so much Eyecandy objects but a lot of designed textures. One of the best.
Total: 90/100

Unreal Imagination:
Like in the Disguise’s readme file, that is i tileset i very loved. A cool UNUSUAL colors you don’t see at other tileset. I like the BG! BUT THERE ARE SOME Mask bugs but is not important.
97/100

Tarzan Treetop:
This is a tileset not see in everyday. Cool name! Nice level, but that tileset is hard to use.
93/100

This is got to be one of the greatest tilesets ever to be made. As well as being the world’s largest JJ2 tileset, it has some of the most immpressive graphics in a tileset I have ever seen. Disguise has worked extremely hard to make this. This tileset has inspired me to make tilesets as good as his. Personally I don’t think he should of left J20, as his next tilesets would be……..incredible. Anyway, I’m spending too much time saying how good Mega Megatropolis is so I’m will start writing the main review now.

THEME
The tileset is set in a modern city with quite a lot of plant growth. Examples of eyecandy are: Tree, Leaves, buildings, hills in background, offices, sewers, etc. It is very good for any type of level.
Examples of level ideas are: A race level on the road, a CTF level in the sewers, Devan attacking the town centre or a treasure hunt around the city. There some areas that could of been better, like it could of had more vehicles on the road. There was only one car and one train in the entire tileset. A city tileset would probably have more cars/lorries/trains etc. Also, the windows would be better with frames.
9/10

USEABILITY
The tileset is very useable for any kind of level. (as metioned above)I found it quite hard to find my way around the tileset (since its so large). What could of been done is that everything could of been arranged so there could be all the plant-related stuff at the top, then a part for the houses, then the sewers, then the interiers could be somewhere, and all the layer 5/6/7/8 backgrounds at the bottom. This tileset is designed for advanced level-makers to use, and might be a bit intimidating for begginners.
8/10

ACCURACY
There is absolutely no bugs in this tileset. The diagonals all fit together perfectly, there are no tiles missing that would be needed and there is a mask message too. This is one of the vry few tilesets done with 100% accuracy. Even Agama’s tilesets have a few bugs in them. Well done, Disguise!
10/10

FINAL SCORE
Good Points:

*No bugs!

*4090 tiles mean lots of choice

Bad Points:

*Is hard to use

*Not much vehicles

SCORE

9.6

These jungle levels have very interesting event-usage.

EYECANDY
There’s lots of vegitation and other stuff around;it has much better eyecandy than in the offical epic jungle levels:p
9/10

GAMEPLAY
There’s lots of great ways of using events;one could learn a lot by playing this.
10/10

ENEMY PLACEMENT
The enemy placement is good, but there are too many in some areas.

This tileset has so much texture.

EYECANDY
The eyecandy is……super!
10/10

MASK
A couple of minor mask errors, but it is still good generally anyway.
8/10

DESIGN
The design is incredible, there is eyecandy on practically every tile.
10/10

DIFFICULTY
Despite being an amazing set, it’s not very user-friendy.
7/10

Wow, what the heck? I didn’t review this yet? >:(

Looking at this colossal set, I can’t help but gape in awe at all the effort that making this must’ve taken. Over 4000 quality tiles in one big tileset, wow ;P. This is definately taken into consideration when deciding upon the rating of the set, but the two four letter words that come to mind when i look at this set (one of them being “holy” and the next being censored =P) would best describe my first impressions when i saw this.

As for the set itself, obviously there’s a lot of different settings possible with the amount of different terrains stuffed in here. A lot of tiles are copies with different backrounds put into them for ease of use and not requiring layer 5, though, but that’s alright.

The theme of the tileset isn’t my favorite, and a bit too cartoonish, but it is executed nicely and looking at the example level i would want to use the set.

Masking is pretty well done. There were a few things that i’d question the masking choice for when i first saw the set (such as assuming the green bricks to be solid since they resemble the solid red bricks, having the leaves be solid for whatever reason). Aside from that, the masking is pretty much great, and includes the usual mask messages from wisey =P.

As for needed tiles, the set could’ve used spikes or other hurt events and vines, but other than that it pretty much got the essentials covered. Aside from desctructable scenery, there’s pretty much no animations though, which is a shame. There’s a lot of blank tiles in the set, so at least one row of tile could’ve been economized by filling them in with some tiles (sacrificing a bit of userfriendliness in the process, though) to make the set slightly smaller, and some animations put in to fill in the rest, but I guess the sheer colossal size of the set can make up for that.

Huge tilesets usually tend to have problems with being userfriendly. The tilesets end up being too big and scare away levelmakers, or it can take a while looking through a heap of tiles to find the one you need. I downloaded this tileset completely expectant of this, but was slightly surprised to find that it’s not as bad as I’ve envisioned. Pretty much everything is logically placed and grouped together with related tiles, and it is very easy to find what you need considering the size of the set. However, this tileset is still huge and it does take ages to browse through all the tiles, as well as you have over 4000 tiles to consider using when you want to make an area, and that’s a huge amount of tiles to have in mind ;P. Generally, the set fared much better in this category then I expected it to, however, and it compels me to consider using it should I ever want to make more gigantic single player levels.

Overall, if you have TSF – even if you don’t ever use it – you should still download this set regardless. It is a unique set (not so unique now that there’s a 1.23 version of it out, but ;P) that offers a LOT. You can’t ignore the amount of work that was put into this masterpiece, and even with the high expectations I have of Disguise tilesets, I was still quite stunned the first time I saw this.

I think this deserves a 9.6 for its efforts. I really hope that this tileset will be used in several levels, and that there are levelmakers out there who can meet and overcome the challenge of using such a large tileset. Congratulations for making this wisey ;P (I’d say happy birthday too if I wasn’t 3 years late with this review ;))

Good job. These are really wonders. I like them very much. Especially the Unreal Imagination. It’s a good theme. Especially because of the inverted masks. Even the Townsville is good. Houses look a lot like real houses. And the mountains are even great. Textures in all the other tilesets and in these are wonderful and even the other background layers. Good.

I think the best thing of this set is that you made it for your best friend. I think that the presents made for friends are very good. Mirrow is lucky because he has you as best friend. All your creativity and your skill are better used for a friend. Long Live the friends.

(Unsupported rating (10) removal. You get bonus points for devoting five words to the specific upload and only misspelling one of them, but this still appears to be a five second review. Please elaborate on why Disguise’s tilesets ‘rock’ and are ‘just so good’, preferably basing that description mostly on this tileset in particular, and preferably going into logical detail. ~Violet)

Yes, this is the powerful Tileset!
But where are too much blocks. The backgronud in 4 layer you can do in 5 layer and you can delete a half of tileset. Also is very hard to use. But anybody can download this to see this incerdible tileset. But I don’t see any “good” levels based on this tileset
