Your tilesets still fascinate me, keep up the great work!

Pardon the short review, but I really can’t think of anything to say, this is great.

I really like this tileset, you did a good job with it. A nice variety of tiles, lots of different colours, the texture is sweet and enough background layer eyecandy to prevent it all from looking boring. Don’t see any problems in the mask either.

Nice drawing style too, I can see some sweet levelmaking potential here. Good luck to you in the contest, personally I think you did a better job than me.

You know, after this has been up for so long not once have I checked the mask to read the messages. I love the tileset, really, I’m touched, nobodys ever made me a tileset before, I feel so special :P

I can’t rate the tileset, it would be horribly biased, I’m not even supposed to be online now. I’ve banned myself from the internet to work on something special, I MUST FINISH IT! And mirrow you’re gonna be here at my place this weekend…wow it feels weird to say that.

Anyways, the mask messages, I love it, I feel so special wipes off a tear in his eye I LOVE YOU GUYS!!! :D :D :D

P.S. To labratkid: I made Mirrow’s Kingdom for mirrow he didn’t make it himself, this tileset is sort of a payback I got it for my birthday even! :D

I’m sorry but in all my life I have never seen reviews like that, it is, simply put, totally crazy.

Tick, I hope you understand that I’m not writing a huge review, I’m doing that considering you will be busy through the whole of this year reading those other two reviews.

Anyways, I really enjoyed playing this, it was great being betatester aswell, even though I felt quite helpless compare to the amazing power of traftie. The highlight of all this is for me is the level you made with Spacey Universe (gee, I wonder why), I never thought I’d see stuff like that using that set, great job!

The one thing I particularly liked was the design of these levels, it was great! Not at all linear, I think you desevre an extra pat on the back there. That’s it from me, great pack, ‘nuff said.

This really does rock, you did an awesome job with the underwater theme. So pretty, so colourful, the fishes were a great addition. Gotta give you a pat on the back (or somehting like that) for a job well done with this one. It looks like a pain in the rear to use, but don’t all sets at first sight?

I’m not up to writing a big review, why don’t you just read what trafton wrote if you want big reviews ;)

Ouch, dont think Jazz’s review is quite fair… :/

Oh well, because this is a 2nd version, I wont give it a rating (comment only), but this is still a great tileset, and with the bugs fixed and extra tiles (YaY for diagonals!) you can’t go wrong in making levels with it.

Grrr, stupid thing, submitted the review before I was done, I’ll carry on now :P

Anyways, I wouldn’t quite associate this tileset with the Zerg from StarCraft (it’s one word blazey, get your blizzard terms right ;), but it is still pretty eerie, and has a very original theme. It rocks, get it :D

P.S. I’d like it more if you made other tilesets, fix the mistakes from the one set in the next set, thats what I do ;)[This review has been edited by Disguise]

EDIT: Jazz’s review is no more. :P

P.S. I like the grass, it rocks! dont think of changing it ;)[This review has been edited by Disguise]

I’ve got tons of this set ahnging around my Hard Drive, but I’m at shcool now, cant give a huge review, I’ll keep this here as ‘pending’ until I get home. Can’t say much until then.

Small Review thingy:
It’s a great set, but the extra background stuff could be a bit better.

This is really not a bad tileset, lots to do, lots to create with.
I’m a bit lazy on my review today, so dont expect much ;)
The quality isnt bad at all overall, but the worst part are the characters, their animations and looks arent too lifelike.

Then theres possible masking errors, they’re not smoth enough on places (expecially the characters) so people might get stuck in them.

Thumbs up on a great set though :D

“…”

That’s about all I have to say when I saw it…

Apart from the fact that I hate rips (oh, sorry, I’ll call it a ‘conversion’), this isnt a rip from the best looking tileset either.

The ripped stuff look fine (practically the whole tileset), but the textured background doesn’t work in 8-bit. I almost rated it badly for not tiling properly, but that was a little mistake from my behalf. The example level showed it tiling wrong, and only on closer inspection did I notice the extra few tiles throughout the set. Just as a tip, next time make it tile correctly in the example level.

Also, there isnt much of a difference in the tiles used. I know its only one tileset in an episode, but thats the bad part, some more couldve been stacked in and made it look a lot more interesting. Yes yes I know you only intended to make the one tileset, but man, giving it a bit more work would’ve helped a lot yaknow, the sets pretty tiny already and a problem with space wasn’t an issue.

Apart from that, I must congratulate the set on having a few ‘additional eye candy’ items to play around with, not to mention the lava animation and some useful ‘key’ triggers. Too bad those come with more problems. Well, there are NO diagonals. That really hinders gameplay and design capablities of a possible level. Apart from that the tileset lacks a load of event tiles like vines, poles, sucker tubes, EXIT SIGNS, arrows etc.

Msg to URJazzCC:
Oh, I get your logic, so you’re saying that the tileset did what it is supposed to do (do a total rip from a game), then it would get a 1-10 depending on how well it did it, and since its near impossible to go wrong with a rip unless you cant make custom palettes all ‘converted’ should get 10 or near 10 ratings. That’s a bad logic if you ask me. Don’t expect us to follow it, we’re welcome to use our own logic, and I would agree with Craccoboy and Soulfire (except his part on modifying the main rating to his own wishes) on their logic used when rating this.

I suggest if you’ve played Hocus Pocus, you go back and play that again, because this is JJ2, and here we do things our way.

Whooooaaaa, hold on a second, this is not right. i see a 9.2, but I dotn see a 9.2 tileset. It’s fully ripped (except ofcourse for the ‘Level and Tileset by Craccoboy’ signs and a few plain tiles) and the graphics its ripped from is really old. Nintendo RPG style, nothing great about the graphics.

Trafton, I really dont understand how you could give it a 9.2 with a comment of: “Definately one of the better Cracco tilesets. Very nice job.”
How do you get to a conclusion like that? I dont know if its an insult or a compliment, I’ve seen some cracco tilesets and to call THIS one ‘one of the better’ seems like an insult. There are sets that are better out there, thats for sure!

Overall you can see these are first tilesets, but you dont get bonus points from me because they are, sorry ;)

Anyways, the major improvement that can be done on quality of the tiles is shading. The tilesets also need some extra layer eye candy. Dont worry too much about tileset size, that just comes automatically ;)
Finally, the one tilesets textured backgrounds doesnt work.

My favourite of the three tilesets is the Castle one (Scion02). Nice textures, shading and perspective for a first tileset and has a decent amount of different tiles, not to mention towers for etxra layers. Improve on that style, I see a bit of potential ;)

P.S. Sorry I took so long, I’m always busy :P

I really like this, some ripped tiles, but it’s definitley not the majority. Still, can’t complain about the tileset, has everything you need. Keep up the good work, and next time, make your own textures, don’t use the ones from PSP7 itself ;)

Reerved for when I get home before I forget AGAIN. NWN is evil.

Anyways, a small comment so far, the set is good, nice textures and stuff, but there are ripped tiles (in my book you get a rating a lot lower than it deserves because of that). I would also liek to see some nice blending in the tiles. Now it almost seems to just swap from the one tile to the other without a nice ending. Needs to look more 3D. Great variation of extra eye candy though (if only a lot of them weren’t ripped).

Yup, I ripped Mirrows face and his Mirrowbabe, you cant make a tileset for mirrow without his face and mirrowbabe now can you? ;)

P.S. thnx for bug, I’ll reupload in the morning after a good nights sleep. Well, looks Like I wotn edit it, after looking at the pole event on the block that little bug doesnt make any difference (phew). I just hate having two versions of somehting floating around.

P.S.S to White Rabbit. There IS a useful exit sign in the level aswell :P[This review has been edited by Disguise]

Always wanted to make a 20 tile tileset, and I found this the perfect time to do it, killed 2 birds with one stone, I’m evil, evil to the CORE!!! MWAHHAHAHA!!! :D :D :D

Oh well, the reason I’m putting this here is to force myself to upload the set today before I go off doing something else (school started today). The real set is done, it’s been done since yesterday, I just have to upload it ;)

P.S. I thought this would get a 4 or maybe a 5, it only took me an hour! Shame on you guys![This review has been edited by Disguise]

Hmmm, this isnt what I expected from a tileset with an average rating of 8.7 at all. I’m very suprised that it got that rating in the first place.

The quality of the drawn tiles aren’t that good, they have very little texture (if any). Apart from that there is tons of tipped tiles, I hate ripped tiles, always draw your own. I dont see why someone should get rated for another person’s work, it’s just wrong, so I always lower the rating.

I don’t know where to start with the comments, and I havent got a lot of time, so this is as much as I will write, it gets a 5 from me, a lot lower than the other ratings, but that’s my opinion on the set.

Download reccomedation? Nope, cant say that it has.

Hmmm, I’m supposed to comment on this, but I cant really. Sure I can say the usual stuff like “This is a CTF pack with 10 levels made by futuristic tilesets blah blah”, but this deserves more. Sure it’s a CTF pack, but its not just any CTF pack, its the best CTF pack I’ve seen.

The amount of time spent on eye candy and design, even to the smallest degree amazes me, each level is unique from the other, but all still keep the same futuristic theme. Good job boss, shame on the rating, I think you deserve higher.

I agree with Soulfire in the overrated part. Red asked me not to be strict, but I always am, its just me I suppose ;)

Anyways, the fact that it is his first tilesets should not give him a higher rating, rate them according to their quality, ease of use, and how practical the tileset it (masks, etc.)

The tilesets do look quite easy to use, but the quality of the tiles isnt good at all, sure there are lots of stuff, but if they dont look good it amounts to nothing. There is also hardly any texture on the tiles.

Apart from that, there are some ripped tiles (from me and agama, apart from other places), and those are just plain evil, DOWN WITH RIP! I dont see why anyone should be rated for someone else’s work, so I go very strict on that.

Still, these are his first tilesets, so there is room for improvement in the future, but for now you get a 6.5 from me.
