I’ve been waiting for the new Blade set since I saw the preview screens. Here goes my rating.

Looks (General)
Apart for being a cool concept for a tileset, this tileset looks great, as we’re used to coming from Blade. Personally, I like the paved ground tiles best.

Easy to use?
This tileset is ordered in a more logical way than Islands… =P It’s indeed very easy to use and has plenty of possibilities.

Eyecandy
This tileset has loads of eyecandy. From wooden fences to flickering streetlights to breeding birds. This tileset has everything you might possibly encounter in a park (Exept UFO’s). The background looks sweet, the layer 5/6/7 tiles looks sweet, the pipes look awesome. Good job.

Example level
The example level gives a great idea of the whole tileset. It shows many eyecandy tiles, as well as logical structure required for any level. The example level makes even newcomers handy in using this tileset. And, just to finish it, the best Urban music file I ever heard is included with the level (Although Streetwize (City1g.it) comes close…)

Overall
This tileset is ideal to use in any town-like episode. I would like to see some good levels with this. Might even consider picking up my JCS again… =D

Score
This is one of the best tilesets that I know (so far), so I’ll rate this as one of the best tilesets. You’ll get a 9 from me. And, because of the cool example level and music, make that a 9 point 5! And, ofcourse, Download Recommendation. Everyone should have this tileset.

Further comment
I’d love to see another tileset anytime soon. :) If I was gay, I’d love you.

Finally! A new single player! I’ve been waiting for new downloads, since the J2O download section is practically dead.

Gameplay
After playing the first level (which was rather short), I noticed that you are a newcomer. No offence, it just looked like this would be your first level ever. Straight lines, things copied from other episodes and levels. The gameplay sucked throughout the game. Straight lines and shooting enemies… Sorry, but yawn.

Gameplay = Bad

Placements
No ammo, gems, powerups, and if there are enemies, they’re in straight lines and places you won’t bother watching.

Placement = Very bad

Story
Devan is back, he has come to destroy the world etc… Old story. We need new idea’s.

Story = Old

Balance
Way too easy to be an episode. Sorry, but this just plain sucks.

Balance = Very bad

Eyecandy
Flowers with exactly the same distances between them, moving background, waterfalls made of texture backgrounds… Nothing special.

Eyecandy = Not worth mentioning

Music
I personally like the music from the first level, but it doesn’t fit the level. Most levels didn’t have music (Or music included in the pack).

Music = Bad

Originality
Well, he DID have a trigger puzzle… =\ Also, there was this wide open space in which you needed to find the single-tile-wide exit…

Originality = Could be better

Score
I really don’t think you deserve any score higher than a 2. Just because I am nice, I’ll leave the rating blank. Use it wisely…

Score = N/A

Bonusses/substractions
Nothing worth mentioning (Although I like fact that you used Fawriel (Formerly known as Piccolo) his old tilesets.)

Added Score = N/A

Download Recommendation
No.

Further comment
If you want to make good episodes, think of a good idea. As for eyecandy and level layout, check the best downloads… =P

I downloaded the level. Before I played it, I already saw this for a minute or two in a battle server I joined yesterday. I think it’s time to review it.

Gameplay
The gameplay of this level is nothing more than plain brilliant. You can just hold your shift-button and one direction and you will get about everywhere easily. The flow is great. The speed is great! I only had to jump one or two times before I could see the whole level!
_Gameplay = Magnificent! _

Placement
The ammo placement was also very good. Nicely spread around, no useless weapons, some fastfires were placed a bit close to eachother, but the rest was okay. What I didn’t like was the PU placement. The Seeker PU was too easy to get. The ElectroBlaster PU is quite useless, exept for the fact that it gives you ammo. The RF PU was nice, though. Placed under a spring, you stomp it automaticly when you just run up some staircases. That was cool.
_Placement = Good _

Eyecandy
First of all, your use of the background wasn’t quite what I expected. I just though: “What? Only smoke and a black background?” When I looked at the tileset, I saw that you didn’t had much of a chance. You did a good job with it. The layer 3 eyecandy was also good, I like the curvy edges in front of the wall.
_Eyecandy = Quite good _

Music
Music choice wasn’t the best. It fitted in with the level perfectly. It has the agression that your level shows, but still, I would go with another music file, but that’s personal preferrance. It was a bit too agressive, in my opinion ofcourse. Strangely enough, I knew the music, while it wasn’t even in my folder… Strange. Did you rename it or something? =D
_Music = So-so… _

Originality
What can I say? It’s a battle level, I’ve seen this kind of structure before. Still, the springs+wind are quite original, just like the ‘run into your PU’ idea. I quite enjoyed playing this.
_Originality = Good _

Score
If it was an eyecandy contest, I’d give you a 10. Simply because it’s not, I’ll give you an 8.5 on basic score.
_Score = 8.5 _

Bonusses/substractions
I just can’t seem to forget the ‘run into your PU’ thing… That really made my day. =D
_Added Score = +0.5 _

Download Recommendation
Sure, it’s fun to host with about 5 people. Then again, I wouldn’t wanna host this on friday evening or something.

I see that you have made time for this within your busy schedule for Jazz X. Still, you got talent. Use it wisely. =D

Long time since I reviewed a tileset… Here goes.

The looks
The tileset doesn’t quite look like a ‘planet’, but it can be used for an office or building pretty well. The background in the example level was really neat. It doesn’t look too bad. But still, I’ve seen better tilesets using a block theme. (Mez tilesets)

Completeness
-Poles
-Tubes
-Path
-Ground
-Ramps
-Spikes
-Edges
-Background (although it’s not a textured background, it looks pretty neat)
-No vines, but the poles could be used for vines.
-Also no destruct-blocks
-Signs
-Spikes
-Even a HareKing logo. :)

Yep, quite complete.

Eyecandy
Sadly enough, besides the good looking background, there are no eyecandy tiles. Although you could make complex looking walls and backgrounds with the normal ground tiles, you could have added a few eyecandy tiles, such as life wires, broken blocks, etc.

Originality
Not the most original concept I ever saw, but the idea was nice. It seems to miss the form of a ‘planet’, though. The signs look totally l33t though. :)

Example level
Good example level, a bit too linear. but it shows the benefits of the level very well.

Music
You added music with the tileset name, so I figure it must be rated, too.

The music really wasn’t that good. It’s a simple beat, only drums, which continues all the time. But, for some reason, it fits. It’d fit a treasure level more than a SP level, though.

Overall
Nice looking tileset, ideal to work with if you are a ‘JCS Newbie’. It’s worth a 7, in my opinion.

Further comment
The music seems a bit… rushed. Spend more time on it next time. =)

I just want to add that I am STILL playing (or trying) your episode on hard, rather than playing World of Warcraft. Keep up the good work, Mike, and don’t let me down on the third!

Starting Comments
The long awaited sequel to Invasion of Deserto is finally here! I finished this episode after a long night and seven cups o’ coffee, but I did it!

Story
As for the story… It’s a little… Well, err… Basic. Devan this, evil scheme that. BUT! (There always is a but…) This one is not about mass destrustion or stealing diamonds and girlfriends! This story is one of the GREATEST DEVAN RELATED STORIES I have ever hear of. Ofcourse I won’t tell more details, play it yourself.
Story = Great

Balance
This pack sure was hard. Hard as in “KICK SOME LIZARD” hard! The puzzles were amazing, the enemies and ammo were well placed, but it was hard. I finished it in easy (Both endings(!)) and still had a tough time. Although, the fact that I made it through this pack says a LOT!
Balance = Nearly Perfect (True perfect does not exist.) :P

Eyecandy
First, I have never seen Top Secret used like this. This isn’t Top Secret anymore, this is ‘teh b0mb’. The first level was the best, IMO. You really feel like being in a scorching hot desert area… :)
Eyecandy = Super!

Originality
I noticed many of the things I saw in this episode were also in my latest project. I am not saying that you stole them (Or that I stole them…), but I also have multiple endings, layer 5 speed used to make you move faster, vehicles such as the escape pod, etc. Although, I won’t complain about this any further. :)
Originality = Nice to others, but because I knew it already, just a little bland. ;)

Score
This nice pack DESERVES to be a nice pack, and should be rated as such. If you played Invasion of Deserto, this pack is a MUST2PLAY for you! And, if you didn’t, I suggest you scroll down Mike’s download page and GET IT NOW!
Score = 9,5

Any bonusses/substractions
Nothing TOO MUCH outstanding to earn a bonus… No flaws, either. ;)
Bonus = 0

Welcome to the fantastic world of JJ2! And, ofcourse, welcome to the even more fantastic world of JCS! Ok, the level.

Originality
This is an interesting idea! Jazz is having a dream! Haven’t seen lots of those before! :D

Creativity
First, nice job on the animations! I don’t seem to get those right… Ever… Anyway, there was a creative twist to the Devan Robot boss. You can’t attack his robot (hidden somewhere) but you must bring him a chest with ham! LOL! Once you brought him the chest, you get paid and can use the warp to the end of the level. :D

Music Choice
Just plain old Mario Music. :D It fits the tileset anyway, so it’s good.

Overall
It certainly not bad for a first level. Just basic, but fun! I’ll give you a 6.

Good thing
If you notice, there is a house near yours which says “Tuf turt’s place”. If you kill the turtle and come back later, it says “For sale”. LOL!!!!!

Trigger Frenzy
A puzzle level. Finally… Reminded me of QoB, by the way… Anyway, as I was hoping for some good stuff, this turned out to be VERY cheap stuff… The eyecandy was fine, the enemy placement wasn’t… The weapon puzzles were almost invisible, making it very annoying…

Not bad… Could use a story…

Diamondus Hike
It all starts in Diamondus, and it ends there as well… (Well DUH! one level…) You just jump around, climbing high platforms and using springs in a smart way. Just a simple level, with a random (?) endboss. Enemy placement was good, but mind that bees shouldn’t respawn that fast. Give people some time to look around after killing something. Ammo placement was alright.

Score: 7

Good thing
Nice placement on the coins.

The Bolly boss. In a Diamondus level, it is best to use the Schwartzenguard or Bubba Boss. If there was a story involving the Bolly to be there, I would have approved.

Well, this tileset has about everything an average levelmaker would need. Some vines, invisible tiles, masked messages… :P Yep, not too much, good platform blocks… Well, this is worth a 7.5!

Good thing
Cornerless pieces of wall. I need that a lot… In Natures Ruins you have the vertical outside block, the horizontal outside block, but NO cornerless block, making in impossible to make bigger blocks! Good job on this one!

Gameplay
In the very beginning you turn into a frog. Seeming that you can’t attack, you must run from your enemies. When you found 10 coins, you can exit the level. Nice idea, but it needs some improvements, like a story (As you mentioned).

Eyecandy
Not much eyecandy… And even a few tilebugs… Try to find the correct tiles for every corner and such.

Creativity
In this level, loads of puzzles and other stuff I never saw before. Very nice on the sucker tube usage.

Originality
Frog levels aren’t that original, nowadays, and also since this level hasn’t got a story… Well, it’ll cost you some score…

Overall
Not a very bad level, but at least you had some creative points.

Good Thing
Push a crate on a TNT to explode it.

Bad Thing

Hellow, here to give out some points again… =D

Gameplay
The story was very nice. Nothing like a bad guy and frogs. Apart from that, the levels were a bit crowded. The paths were narrow and loads of baddies, sometimes unpredictable, which can be annoying.

Eyecandy
Loads of pillars, curtains and other stuff. No holding back on the eyecandy for you!

Creativity
I never thought the frog can be so powerfull. The idea of pushing a trigger crate over a TNT wasn’t such a bad idea at all! You got extra credit for this one!

Originality
Not the most original, I must say. I still have an old frog episode somewhere, and I’ve seen a few on the net too. Apart from that, this wasn’t bad at all.

Overall
It seems like I will give you an 8. It was not bad at all, but it could have a little improvement. Work on ‘space’ and enemies you ‘can’ beat.

Good Thing
Frog can destroy crates afterall!

Bad Thing
Why does Jazz has to crawl his way through these levels?

Gameplay
Ok, here’s the deal. Some lab animals have broken out, it is your job to eleminate them, or anihalate, whatever you like. You must solve some puzzles, which are hidden quite good. The boss gave it a nice touch, for a lava level. I enjoyed playing, and I hope others will too.

Eyecandy
The eyecandy was really good. Almost every spot is covered with an iron block, or some background walls. It looked very nice, and there were no tilebugs either.

Creativity
The story was quite creative, for as far as I could read. (Please make 3 @‘s before entering the actual text, or else it might be blocked by HP, score, boss HP, etc.) The puzzles weren’t that creative. You have to find a crate to lift a big box, that sorta stuff. Ever tried lever triggers? It is a bit hard, but there is a good article on J2O to learn it. (Took me about a week before it worked…)

Originality
I like the story, which is the most original from this whole level. For a single-single player level, it has quite original events, like when the teleporter broke, you must find a way around. It took me very long before I discovered that one… Pfew… Nope, it was quite original to me!

Overall
If you like puzzles and plain old shooting action, you’d better download and review this one.
