LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! MAY I PRESENT ANOTHER RIDICOUSLY RIDICILOUS SHORT REVIEW BY WR!!!!!
Ok, a very good tileset. It’s got everything that’s needed plus a lot of mountainous and grassy stuff. The textures are of amazing quality and the animations simply marvellous. The idea of chaning the palette is also very original and it looks very nice. Anyway, good tileset Blaze, keep it up.
Cheers,
White Rabbit.
Battle heaven (in the lvl it says Heaven party, though) is a very cheap lvl.
The eyecandy is appaling and there are a lot of tile flaws making it very ugly to look at and as well as making it a pain to try jumping around.
The gameplay is very bad if not even worse than the eyecandy. There are heaps of dead ends and weird suckertubes all over the place. I must disagree with Taz. This lvl is NOT fun to play in.
Also, the weapons placement simply suck. There is far too little ammo around and the powerups are too close together.
Sry 007, but this not exactly what I call an enjoyable lvl.
I’ll give Heaven party a 2.5 for the small amount of effort and a NO for download recommendation.
Cheers,
White Rabbit.
Very good lvl. It’s got nice eyecandy and weapons placement. The gameplay is quite good too although the lvl has got way too many deadends. I give BattleOut 6 a 7.5.
And I’ll write a longer review later…
First of all, very nice tileset with cute stuff and neat animations. They doesn’t have much textures in them though so they’re a little plain. I don’t think this is too good a tileset but it’s alright. I’ll give it a 6 for good animations and having all the standard hotel stuff.
Btw, nxt time, make the letters English, not Russian.
Cheers,
White Rabbit.
First of all, the tileset has got a nice idea, good eyecandy and some neat statues.
But it’s way too small. It doesn’t have those “stuff” that makes a tileset good.
Sure, it’s got spikes, vines, hooks, trigger things etc, etc and it’s based on a very original idea. (btw, it doesn’t matter if you fancy Skulg, Moonblaze, everyone does it these days ;-P) However, the tileset just…does…not…have…those little tiles with small messages saying “Hi!” or those cute little animations that makes you think “Oh, let’s rate this tileset a 10!”
The tileset’s also got ripped animations from Carrotus and censored, I think. Make yer own things nxt time.
Ok, since the idea and effort are so great and even though there’s almost nothing else in it, I don’t think I can give Land of Skulg a bad rating. Well, maybe a half bad, but not bad. Here’s a 7.
Cheers,
White Rabbit.
EDIT: Hahah! (I think) I got the longest review.[This review has been edited by White Rabbit]
A very good battle lvl. It’s way better than my first lvl (which you can – conincidentally – download on J2o as well ;-)
Rockingham Garden has got very good gameplay. It’s floating and springs/warps are placed sensibly. No dead ends here either, too.
The eyecandy could have been a lot better. There are all the usual carrots, vines, more carrots and large plants but otherwise, it’s quite boring. Try experiementing more with layers nxt time, it’ll look much better.
Weapons placement in Rockingham Garden really great. There aren’t too much nor too few ammo and they’re placed in a decent manner around the lvl.
Overall, this is probably the best first-try lvl I’ve ever seen (not that I’ve seen many ;-) so I’ll give Rockham Garden an 8 and a big good luck to Merilyn on his (or her?) later lvls.
Cheers,
White Rabbit.
I don’t understand. WHAT…IS…IT…WITH…ALL…THESE…STUPID…GIRLS?! mirrow seems to be upset with them, somehow. :-P Well anyway, the tileset’s really gold…er…good and it looks like 1000x times better than Dreamy Mirrow.
The tileset has got almost everything. Castles, marble walls, golden paths, golden doors, golden windows, golden girls (yummy!) and a whole load of other stuff that I doubt that you’ll find use of. ;-)
However, the tilest does lack spikes and a USEFUL exit sign plus it doesn’t have much eyecandy (but if you mix the H and V poles together and put them all over the lvl maybe it’ll look better).
In short, mirrow’s Kingdom is another great tileset by Disguise although it’s quite single-player unfriendly. But still, download recommendation. And a 8. Oops, I mean 7.7. Er…8. Yes, 8. It’s better. 8. 8. 8.
8!!!!!!
Cheers,
WR. :-P
EDIT: No. No, NO!!!!! It wasn’t my fault, Disguise!!! AAAARGH!!!!!! The exit sign was so small I didn’t notice it!!!!!!!!!!!! DON’T HIT ME!!!!! PLZ!!!!!! I’M BEGGING YOU!!!NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
Oh well, never mind. ;-P[This review has been edited by White Rabbit]
The training lvl is quite good. I don’t think they were made by someone else…
However, I think the lvl is useless cause who doesn’t know how to buttstomp???
Since the lvl isn’t very useful and it’s way too short…
Oh, well. A 5.
Yay! I’m a betatester of all lvls! Well, almost.
Ok, so, let’s get started. Cell’s Realms of Chaos CTF pack is one of the best CTF lvls I’ve seen. They may not be better than those in Happy CTF or Future Evolution but since we all know Cell lost his right hand, and his left hand only has 3 fingers on it, he’s done a mighty good job. (joke ;-D) All the lvl’s uses the tileset to its limit and has got great eyecandy, gameplay, music choice and ammo placement.
ZAITOX STATION 67
This is, in my opinion, the lvl with the best gameplay. It’s got no dead ends whatsoever and the springs and platforms are decently placed. I do like the large, spacey place in the middle which, for once give Jazz an advantage in this lvl. Zaitox Station CTF also has great eyecandy and has some nice uses of the bunkers. What more can you ask?
GLOWING WASTELAND
Whoa. Bones, blood and creepy steel wires. This is not a place I would want to be in on a dark, scary night…
Glowing Wasteland’s eyecandy is almost unbelievable. And Cell managed to do it WITHOUT putting a single animation into the lvl. Fantastic, eh? The lvl uses layers and layers of steel/iron wires to make the place feel a little bit more evil. Also, there are of course lots of blood, bloody mountaints and a dark sky. The gameplay is quite good, but it could be nicer. sigh, this is what happens when Cell doesn’t ask me for advice. (another joke ;) Springs and platforms are well placed, in other words, no problem there. However, the lvl tend to be a little jumpy and with that I don’t mean the occasional special jump you have to make. No, I mean you’ve got to run as fast as you can, jump, hit a spring, jump on to another platform. Fall down, run, jump again, and then jump, jump, jump, jump, jump, jump…lalaallaalala… And so on. Glowing Wasteland also lack animations, as I’ve mentioned before. It’s a pity cause although the tileset (which is very, very good and its name is Death Metal ;) doesn’t have much animations, I still think it would make the lvl better to just add a couple skeletons and spikes. Otherwise, this lvl is almost perfect.
ToXaNi-StArWaVe CtF (I needed to copy the name cause it was too complicated)
ToXaNi-StArWaVe CtF is a very good lvl with great gameplay. Now, since its name is so long, I’ll just call it starwave (not Star Wars :P) in the future. Starwave’s gameplay is superior if you compare it to other CTF lvl’s by Cell. Except perhaps Deserted Dungeon (which is not only a dungeon but also a icecream factory ;). The lvl has almost everything to help the player get his way round. Springs, vines, more springs, platforms, float ups and so on… The eyecandy is also very good although it’s still confusing, even with the removal of those annoying pipes, and I tend to get lost in the lvl. Starwave has also got another new thing. The bases are floating in air! Alright, ppl MAY have done it before, but it’s new to me and to many other ppl too. The floating bases makes it harder to defend them which can be both a good and a bad thing. In short, Starwave isn’t exactly a WOW but it’s a lvl that self-respecting CTF players should take a good look at. Yes, good. Good, good, good. GOOD.
CRYSTAL CAVERNS
Another “I-wanna-be-just-like-Deth” [(C) 2002 White Rabbit] lvl it seems. Crystal Caverns seem at a first glance an attempt to break 12 Hour Tea’s eyecandy and I can confidently say Cell has succeeded. Well, if not, almost. Crystal Caverns has undoubtly the best eyecandy in the whole lvl. There are spikes all over the place and waterfalls all over all over the place. It has also got good gameplay (although you depend too much on springs) and weapons placement. Crystal Caverns is simply superb. Nothing more to say…
CELL’S LAB
Cell’s lab is the only lvl in the pack which has a un-original name PLUS it uses an Epic tileset. Can it be worse? :P Actually, no. It can only get better. The lvl’s eyecandy (just as Flash said) may seem boring but after a closer look, Cell’s Lab has got fantastic eyecandy. It’s got tubes, sciencey stuff, vines, spikes, robots, (sinks?) and flshing lights. Everything else is great too. The weapons placement is just fine although I think it’s a bit unfair to put an full health carrot so close to blue base. Gameplay is even better. There are loads of suckertubes to get you around the lvl and lots of springs too. Again, I think you depend too much on them. You can’t get anywhere without the use of springs, you see. Cell’s Lab has also got a couple nice effects which you’ll discover once you downloaded the lvl cause I don’t wanna spoil the surprise. ;) To simplify matters: Cell’s Lab is an excellent nice lvl.
EVIL CANYON
MUWHAHAHAH, don’t make me laugh, Cell. Evil Canyon is nowhere near evil. It’s very close to be my favourite lvl of the pack though. Evil Canyon has good eyecandy, very good gameplay and excellent weapons placement. It does lack lighting effects though so it’s kinda weird seeing a burning torch and it’s not burning.
…………………………….
This is probably all I got to say about the lvl. It’s nearly perfect. Excellent job, Cell.
Oh boy, I think I was too biased there. :-S Nm, nobody’s gonna kill me for it (I hope).
Cell’s Realms of Chaos CTF pack is so good it aches my teeth. This little piece of beauty gets a straight 9 from me. Everyone must download. AT THE DOUBLE.
Cheers,
White Rabbit.
EDIT: I GOT THE LONGEST REVIEW!!!!! W0000PEE![This review has been edited by White Rabbit]
Ok, this is quite a nice tileset.
Digitalized 2 has got very cool animations and neat tiles. It’s got almost all basic tiles like vines, hooks, belts, suckertubes and signs. However, it doesn’t have exit/text signs and it lacks detruct blocks.
Scrooge has also managed to put an amazingly amount of eyecandy into such a small tileset. Everything looks great and you can make many cool effects with this tileset.
Conclusion: a not too good but not very bad tileset either. It’s a 7.
Whoa! My name’s in the database! +2 points for that!!!! :-P
Ok, ok, I’ll calm down.
This is a very useful but very un-original program. We’ve all seen this stuff before but those who hasn’t got one yet, download this NOW.
Er…
Is that a proper review, Thrifty? :-P
Oh well, nm.
Here’s my review:
The lvl’s are all very nice with good eyecandy and weapons placement. There are far too little powerups and too many dead ends however, but the rest is of great quality. All 3 tilesets are realy cool and features some neat animations. My favourite is Virus but the rest are good. I give Waz’s Small Battle Pack a 7.5. Well done.
Cheers,
White Rabbit.
ANOTHER INCREDIBLY SHORT REVIEW BY WR:
Good tileset. Great animations, cool, Greek letters, nice eyecandy and that rose rock. It’s a straight 7.5 from me…
The eyecandy is very bad. Almost no desert things at all and there are a couple weird tiles. Weapons placement doesn’t even exist. It has only got a couple powerups, 3X and crates placed here and there, that’s all.
Gameplay is also very bad. As Taz said, you can only go right and left. Not very fun at all.
Sry, but this is quite a bad lvl. Nxt time make lvls with more platforms.
I’ll give this an 4.
Very good lvl! It’s got excellent eyecandy, secrets and nice puzzles (too easy for me though). The eyecandy is absolutely perfect and I liked the sparky thingys too. As I said, very good lvl. It’s way too short though. You might wanna put in more enemies and a boss to make it harder. An 8.
I must say this: great CTF lvl. I was one of the betatesters of this lvl and when I saw it my jaw went open. Now it’s at the bottom of the floor.
The eyecandy is the best I’ve ever seen using this tileset (but then I’ve only seen two lvls ;-) and the gameplay is so good you could almost cry.
There are almost no bugs or flaws at all. Actually there is. The middle part of the lvl is way too empty. That makes toasters, RFs and seekers the dominant weapons. Also, there are only a couple 3X bouncers in the lvl, with the exception of the powerup. Put more in!!!!! (And the same goes for gun8 and gun9, too..)
No lvl is perfect, and it counts for Z-z-z-…aitocks…er…Zaitox Station 67 as well, but it’s a mighty good lvl. Every decent Jazzer should take a good look at this.
Cheers,
White Rabbit.[This review has been edited by White Rabbit]
Yayayayayay!!! Hurray for the Hotel Heroes! This tileset rock! It’s got everything the old one has plus a little more. the eyecandy, animations and textures are amazing! The only problem is that this tileset isn’t as flexible as Hotel Dream and has got too much ground tiles. Oh, well who cares! An 8.5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ahhhh…
Here comes another pack of great tilesets which there are so few of and which Disguise is so good at making…
First of all, this is probably…no, this is definitely the best tileset pack this year so far. Wisety’s Wonders includes a boring readme, 6 high quality CTF lvls, 6 super-high quality tilesets and 6 great music files. (Everything seems to be coming in sixes these days…)
Right, let’s get started. thinks
Argh! I’m out of introductions!! thinks more
Ok, ok, here we go: Every single one of these tilesets hold many things in common, but has also many differences. They’re all good (duh!) and has got funny (HAHAHAAH…!) texts in them. But the tilesets also vary in size, theme and eyecandy. Below are a couple brief descriptions of each tileset:
UNREAL IMAGINATION
Very cool tileset indeed! It consists of mostly invinsible masked tilesets and has got some really, great animations. I love that grinning guy with grey-white teeth and the foreground layer tubes are fantastic. Best of all, this is one of the most original tileset I’ve ever seen. If you do it right, the invinsibe tiles can make it look like they’re mirrors and are reflecting everything in the foreground layer!! As I said… a really cool tilesets which you can make really cool lvls of.
TARZAN’S TREETOP
Hmmm… Not as good as the other tileset’s because of its limited usage of tiles but it’s still pretty good and it looks great too. One bad thing about Tarzan’s Treetop is that there are absolutely no eyecandy at all. Well, there’s those little green thingys at the bottom…
SPACE WARBASE
My faavourite!! Woohoo! This tileset is huge and has got the best eyecandy of all the tilesets. Space Warbase has a wide range of asteroids, gun turrets, bunkers and mountains. I especially like the bunkers, they’re just like those things in Overlord’s Top Secret tileset, but offers more protection. The animations, mountains and textures in the tileset are also…er…quite neat. A truly magnificent piece of work. I couldn’t find ANYTHING wrong with it.
RAGING INFERNO
Also one of the best tilest’s in this pack. The tileset holds greatly textured rocks and they look really photo-realistic and yet so cartoony. The background, lava rain, that red trident, the spikes and those beautiful suckertubes are also… oh, you know what I mean…
To simplify things; Raging Inferno is a superb tileset. I’ve already made a single player level out of it!
TOWNSVILLE II
I didn’t like Townsville and I don’t like Townsville too either. Well, I do like it, but not that much. One mayor improvement is that the tileset has gone from a hand drawn cartoon tileset to a 3D-looking one. The eyecandy of Townsville II is much better than the first one. Green, hilly mountains, soft clouds, little trees, smooth, white roads and nice country houses.
Townsville II has got all of these things plus a little more…
WINTERLAND WONDER
To be honest, I think this should be called Winter Wonderland. Oh well…
Winterland Wonder has got snow in it. Yay! +1 point!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Snow rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ahem. It’s also got snowmen, snowy spikes, snowy trees, snowy ground, snowy mountains and snowy snow. A real winter place! Do you wish you were there?? If you do, you’ll probably get dissapointed. Make a level out of this tileset instead, to cheer yerself up.
Huh? That’s all? I haven’t even got my fingers warmed up! Blah. Never mind, it was worth writing a really long review, hehe.
Since I simply cannot find a reason why I should take away any points, I’ll just have to give Wisety’s Wonders a 10. This is the best tilesetpack yet.
EVERYONE MUST DOWNLOAD.
Cheers,
White Rabbit.
EDIT: Size and length doesn’t matter!!!!!!!! ;-P[This review has been edited by White Rabbit]
Wowness!! I never thought I’d live to see Piccolo’s tileset! (Alright, maybe I over exaggerated it a bit…) Desperate Cry is a undescribable good tileset. (It’s only undescribable cause I’ve used up all the goody goody words in my vocabulary ;-P) The tiles are beautifully (haha! I came up with a word!) textured but some tiles, e.g those red cliff things, could do with some better colouring.
The animations and eyecandy also hold a high standard. There are loads of stuff in this tileset like spikes, vines, mud, or is it grass? (Hard to tell cause I’m writing this review without my glasses on) And there are also those eyes that look up and down at you. Very cool, but also very disgusting.
Ok, I’ve mention all the good things about Desperate Cry. Time for some criticism…MUWHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!
First of all:
THE GRASS IS SOOOOOOOO DISGUSTING!! The grass/mud looks like someone’s vomited over them. They’re drawn with one of those artificial light green colours and it looks really ugly. If you want to make dead grass, look at some real-life pictures.
Second of all:
As Disguise said, there are no diagonal tiles. I wonder if Piccolo forgot them or if he’s very stupid? The diagonal tiles are too important to be missed out. That forces me to take away about 1.5 points from my original rating.
Third of all:
There are two things badly masked in Desperate Cry. The spikes and the poles (both the H poles and the V poles).
The masked spikes aren’t high enough so when you hit them, you can get hurt but it looks unrealistic cause you only get hurt when you hit the ground, not the spikes. This little problem could be
fixed by making two kinds of spikes.
The poles are masked. They shouldn’t be. You don’t to mask poles, Piccolo. They work absolutely fine in un-masked tiles. Because they’re masked, you can (if yer very careful) stand on the poles without getting er…swinging on it.
Fix these problems, Piccolo and Desperate Cry will be a first-class tileset. But for now, it’s just a very, very good first try.
I’ll give Desperate Cry an 7 and a download recommendation.
EDIT: HAHA! I got the longest review! (again)[This review has been edited by White Rabbit]
Look Saiyan, if the lvl is crappy, then you shouldn’t have given it an 7.7. :-P Oh, well, maybe it I should be happy about it considering my first CTF lvl got an 5.
EDIT: Alright, I’ve listened to you all. There are too much ammo in some places and the powups are too close together. They’re all fixed. I’ve also put the flag bases further away. Oh, and I’ve put the seeker powerup in a MUCH, MUCH more harder to reach place too. ;-) I hope all of you will raise yer ratings cause a 7?! Blah. :-P[This review has been edited by White Rabbit]
