I won’t rate this either, but the idea amuses me. I almost thought of doing the same to battle1.

Something more for fun. Perhaps its not really worth a rating. Its just DW but then a bit more smaller.

I really can’t rate this level. It’s pretty much a replica, except for a few minor changes and the size. I personally don’t like it as much as the original, the gameplay seems a little off. I suppose it would be good for a 1vs1 match or something, but nothing else. I didn’t really put too much care into looking at this level, I saw pretty much all I needed to see.

Anyways, there’s one of my shortest reviews in a while. It means pretty much nothing, so I’ll give it a N/A mostly because the whole concept doesn’t fit into Diamondus Warzone.

Wow. A 9.3 for just a smaller version of Diamondus Warzone? I can not say that I like this level that much, but I suppose I will have to do a rating. Meh, it will not be easy.

EYECANDY
Tileset Use: Tileset use was, well, shrunken. This level is completely the same as the original Diamondus Warzone except much smaller. I have to give points here for retaining the original Diamondus Warzone eyecandy as opposed to messing it up grandly. I can imagine this was hard to do, and props go where props are due. Still, this level does not offer anything extra special in the realm of eyecandy.
Creativity in Tileset Use: Well, the level was pretty much as creative in tileset use as the original Diamondus Warzone. I mean, this is an exact carbon copy of the original except smaller. Still, again, points are due for not totally messing up the level by shrinking it to a minute size. There are many different ways of doing this (all of which involve more effort than you would think), but the final product seemed to turn out fairly well. Epic did do most of the tileset use, but the shrunken version did not ruin their work.
Tile Errors: This area was actually surprisingly good. Sure, the level had a few things that looked a bit off, but in general they did not mess up the eyecandy of the original, which, when shrinking a level, is pretty easy to do. Some things just did not look normal and other visuals took some getting use to, but all in all I was impressed by the accuracy of this recreation and how little it sacraficed for becoming such a small size.
Creativity: This is an interesting idea to say the least, and I am not quite sure whether this level is just a novelty or actually a really playable level. Creativity in eyecandy is in the eye of the beholder in this case. As mentioned in nearly every paragraph of this review so far, it does take quite a bit of effort to make such an accurate conversion. Then again, since they did not make the level, I can not reward them for all the eyecandy points. This is what is making this level so darn tricky to rate.

PLACEMENT OF STUFF
Carrots: The same as in the Diamondus Warzone original, this level contains one full heal carrot in the box with RF’s. However, the box may not contain as much strategy because of its diminutive size. Yes, it is hard to lurk in the box waiting for an opponent and battles in it are nearly impossible because it is so easy to accidentally fall into the warp. This may or may not be a bad thing depending on where you are coming from strategicly, but many people would probably prefer a normal-sized carrot box. This is probably where scaling caused the most change in the level, for good or bad.
Powerups: As always, this level contains only one powerup, the seeker powerup. This has always been one of the more important parts of the level, and getting it is now even harder since the area is miniturized. It is now about double the size of a character, so there will be a lot of colliding between players while trying to get this powerup.
Basic Weapons: There are many many basic weapons in this level. All of them are placed relatively close to the way they were in the original Diamondus Warzone, though some of them seem a little off. During normal gameplay, this never seemed to be a problem, but when making side-to-side comparisons of the two versions of this level, the difference was somewhat noticable. Thankfully, before this level was released, the shield was removed and the flag bug was patched, so there is nothing to crow about there.

GAMEPLAY AND FLOW
Flow/Navigation: Flow is where this level could be considered inferior to the original. Because of the diminutive size of it, it is not hard to bump into objects while going through small areas of the level. This feeling is akin to that of playing Super Smash Brothers Melee in giant mode. While it does feel “off” from the original, it is still fun, but mostly as a novelty. Flow generally was fairly good, but still not up to the original’s standards. Regardless, it did not severely detract from gameplay, and it still was not very hard to get from place to place after you get use to the smaller proportions.
Layout: Layout was extremely good, though a little bit small. Obviously, this level is going to be smaller than the original in overall size, but it still does not quite fall into the “small level” category since Diamondus Warzone was actually a fairly large CTF level relatively. Layout, as it went, was very nice. Still, I prefer the layout of the original to the miniture version, but that is a given. There was enough room to move around but not too much that it did not seem small.

CTF SPECIFICS
Balance: As usual in Diamdonus Warzone, balance was well-done. The smaller version did slightly benefit the blue team, but not significantly enough to complain about. Balance was overall quite nice, though it was slightly distorted by the seeker powerup’s easiness to get in this particular version. Regardless, it is balanced enough for fun play.

SUMMARY
Wow, this is going to be really, really hard to rate. After all, this level was not originally made by the author, but then again it took a lot of effort to do this. It is a great novelty level, but little more than that, and I can not say that it will probably find much popularity in the long run beyond a few oohs and ahhs on first sight. Still, it is a fun “party gag” if you will and maybe even a good level for some late-night sleep baked play. Anyway, this level does not deserve a rating, but I pledged to give it one, so an eight will suffice. There are plenty of other novelty levels out there and (eww) level edits, but this one probably takes the proverbial cake. It is fun to play and there was effort put into it. It may not deserve an eight, but that is what it is getting. Do not ask me why.

+ PROS: Great conversion. Proportions well done. As good as novelty levels get these days.

- CONS: Not really a new work to speak of. The seeker and carrot box areas have changed majorly. Some players will be forced to adopt a new strategy if they want to play in this level seriously, though I doubt that this level will be used for competition.

VERDICT: An excellent novelty but little more than that. It is fun to play in moderation but probably will not find itself being hosted very often after a short period of time. Yes, it is unique. Yes, it took effort. Yes, it has never been done before, but there is only a small niche of people who have probably said “boy, I wish I had a miniture version of Diamondus Warzone.” But for those who have said that, an eight and download recommendation will seem quite low. For all the rest, go ahead and flame the socks off me. But it is about as good and effort-created as novelty levels get, and there is not more to ask for. After all, it is Christmas, and on Christmas I give high ratings that I just end up editing later. Oh well.

EDIT: Removed rating.

Evil Canyon CTF: The level itself is quirw big, and uses the drkness tileset by mirrow. OR at least i think mirrow made itm but im only 80% sure on that. The ammo placement is very good, so is the spring placement. Its a bit biased that the red team gets a pu and the blue doenst. The eyecandy is slightly above average here, but at least there isnt any mistakes. The tile placement just plain rocks.

CelL’s LAb: The first two downfalls are that the music is gone, but that isnt actually a downfall because i didnt download the music, and that it uses a custom tileset ;P But those are mostly the only downfalls. The eyecandy is good and steady, and not overused. Same goes with the placement. The layout is good and open, withot dead ends, and the tileset use is very creative and good. The base placement is also well-made.
Crystal Caverns CTF: The backroud here hurt my eyes and didnt fit with the tileset at all. The eycandy was a bit to overused, but it was also good, im not exaclty sure if there is any bugs yet. The layout isnt the best it could be, but its well done as well. The name decieved me into thinking this was made with a crysilis tileset ;P, but i was wrong. Nothing much wrong with the ammo and food placement. Like i said before, i HATED the backround.
ToXaNi-StArWaVe CTF: The name was difficult and i had to copy it as well ;P The base placement is cool, the red base which LOOKS like it is standing on solid ground, but is actually floating in mid-air ;P
The tileset use is how do i say this, very detailed, and creative as well. Nice and easy eyecandy which isnt the least bit disturbing, except those asteroids in the foregroudn layers seemed to startle me. The placement is above average and the layout is too.
Glowing Wasteland: Fianlly, a level with coins. Althoughthe coins are very sparce, CelL did the right move by making the bonus warp only need 10 coins. The eyecandy is very good, those backround fences and all those stuff, and the layout is very open. The music fits, and my only suggestion on this level is that the eyecandy can be less annoying. The bases are placed ok, and so are the platfroms, each having lots of eyecandy.
Zaitox CTF: Probably the best, the eycandy is the best it can be here. All those cool tricks with the brown blocks and allthat eyecandy, iit just rocks. The placement is also good, the powerups are placed well, one on one side, the other on another. The base placement rocks, the bases look so close together, yet they are so far away. The platform placement is awesome. A bit crowded below and spacey above. The carrot placement is also good, not the best it can be but still very good. Like i said before, i love the eycandy. The suckerz are used well and so are the warps. The turrets and all those are also placed amazingly.

Conclusion: THIS RUXORS GET IT NOW PLZ

Pipe Dreams: The music fit the level well. The eyecandy was some of the best, nearly all good points. In fact, some of the best sirius eyecandy can be seen here. Ammo placement was well, nice chocieo of pu’s, nice placement of them as well. LAyout was good as well. This was definately a good one in the pack.
Evil Chemisty: Different music could of boosted the mark, im getting quite tired of hearing the same tubelecr\tick music over and over again. Eyecandy was not the best, but was passable. Layout was ok as well. Placement was good. Not the best level in the pack, but one of the average ones. This was probably becauswe im biased towards rating levels with custom tilesets.
Radioactive Warfare: Music was strange but suited the level fine. Eyecandy wasreally food here. The layout was fine and the placemen was good too. The tileset use kinda inspired me, with all those cool tricks and all. I might as well mention that even though the eyecnady was good, it was confuisng and annoying at times and could of been a bit better. Powerup placement was ok as well.
Toxic Metal: Music fits, spring placement was good, so was the eyecandy. LAyout was great as well and some cool tricks used in this one as well. The ammo chocie wasnt that good though.
Tubular vortex: Like i said, im biased at reviewing levels with custom tileset, but some quick notes on this one. Music was different than the original tubelectic, thank god. The eyecandy was amazing, but confusing at the same time. Placement and layout wasgood. Music rocked btw
Scrap metal: The eyecandy was really good and unique here, the green backround used for slime and all those metal pipes for backround eyecandy. THe placement could of been better. There was no need for all those bomb crates and trigger crates, i have no clue why CelL inckluded them. music fits and all those stuff like that.

Worth a download reccomedation.

Since noone made a long review on this, id rather make one than just write a short one.

Claustrophobia:(spelled with a ph, not an f i think) The music here was not included, shame, i wanted to see how the music was like. The level itself is very small, based in a spaceship where the blue electric poles warp you somewhere and stuff. The tileset is used well with some cool tricks and cool eyecandy.
Factorial Fiasco: The tileset use was EXCELLENT. Looked exaclty like a factoy, good eyecandy, strange warps which dont take you far. The vines were hard to see, and the bases needed effort to reach. The ammo placement was ok, had a variety, the carrot placement was ok as well. The music fits.
The CelLavator:
The backround eyecandy was rather good, and the ammo placement was well. The music was missing again, and the layout was sometimes crowded. The eyecady rocked, but the level was small. Interestin tileset use.

The destroyer: The eyecnady here was WAY to confusing, as well as the layout. But it did have some cool effecrs here, like the pack of spaceships flying through in the foreground. The tileset use was excellent once again. The ammo placement was good, had a variety and wanst only placed in dull squares or rectangles.
The dimensionator: MUSIC ROCKED AND WAS A GOOD CHOICE FOR THE LEVEL. Isounded a bit to hyperactive there, but the music choice was great, and i liked it. The tileset use was strange, the brick backround is common for a warp backround, dunno why. The layout was ok, im not to fond of it but it was ok. So was the ammo palcement and the food placement. The foreground eyecnady was strange, those black dots popping out, but it made the level look as if it was a strange dimension in space or something, which was both interesting and fun. The springs were placed well.
The reconstructor: I probably liekd this the least. The eyecnady was way to confusing at times, so was the layout, to much bricks in the way etc. The spring placement was average, with some good points and some downfalls. The placement was sometimes to sparce, other times it was a bit overused.

Conclusion: A good levelpack by CelL, with some missing music, 2 missing files if i am correct. The ones that werent missing was regret.mod and mech8.s3m. The other 2 were gone =(
These levels are good for CTF and have tons of good points in them.

I actually kind of liked this.
The music choice wasexcellent, really good music. The ammo placement was good, not to bad, but not great as well. The tileset use was good, the backround didnt drive me nuts, the eyecandy sometimes did ;P. Interesting “water” idea. The rain does look like small rocks, and would hurt if they hit jazz on the head ;P, but im thankful CelL put it in the backround layeres instead if foreground, if he’d put the rain in foreground, i would of rated this a 4, but he didnt. The layout is not to bad, its ok as well. The level itself is slightly above average, but not as good as some of CelL’s other levels. Worth a d/l though.

Ammo placement was ok, not to good, not to bad. Carrot placement wasnt as well, but ok. Not much more to say.

At first glance, CelL’s conversion of Medivo is a complete dream come true. However, like many things, the longer you use it the less interesting and more annoying it becomes. It is not that this is a completely flawed tileset, but many flawed quirks make using this tileset range from inconveniencing to downright annoying at points. But first I’ll start out with the good. This is probably one of the better Medivo conversions out there. Jazz Jackrabbit 1 conversions are a dime a dozen these days, so it takes something to put tilesets apart from similar conversions. The general idea with conversions is that the author is supposed to stay out of the way of the tileset, and make the best and most true to the original conversion as possible. This conversion is certainally true to the original, but only at first glance. After in-depth use, you’ll notice some of the real annoyances of the tileset. However, this tileset commits one sin that ranks among the 10 Unexcusable Sins of Tileset Making – it overwrites another tileset. In this case, Ice Wolf’s older Jazz 1: Medivo conversion. This tileset is somewhat of a rarity, and it may take me a while to find it again. Until then, I have to take a bit away from the score for CelL thinking about this possibility first. The rain is another problem area. When animated, the rain changes colors ever so slightly. However, if you are in a level full of rain, this quickly becomes a small but exceedingly annoying quirk, and will tempt nearly every level maker to just drop the rain from his or her level completely. I expect conversions these days to have about ninety percent minimum of the tiles of the original, and while this tileset does make that criterea, it does not go all the way and include every single tile from the original. Another increadibly annoying problem was a white speck on the lamp. While it does not jump out and scream “CONVERSION BUG”, careful eyes will notice this and point it out. Parts of the original tileset that were transparent are now just black. A small oversight, but one that could turn off Jazz 1 fans that demand exact conversion of their beloved favorites. In short, this is an excellent conversion with small quirks that severely effect it’s use ability. If you don’t demand a completely perfect conversion of Medivo and you are just anxious to make a level with JJ1: Medivo, you can not go wrong with this tileset. Sure, some of the tileset are converted in such a way that they are almost rendered useless if you want to use them heavily, but a simple reupload could easily fix these problems. However, anyone who demands exact accuracy in their tilesets might want to wait for another, more improved, conversion to come along. If this tileset was to be reuploaded with the previously mentioned bugs fixed, I would be able to praise it. Until then, I give it a 7.7 and a somewhat reluctant download recommendation. Not bad, but it’s obvious that a closer look and more heavy betatesting could make this work feel a little less beta.

At first glance, this conversion looks great. But it has quite a few bugs.
The colors are off. Yes, I looked in the original Medivo, and yes, the background bricks are Really pink. But the black isn’t black anymore. The rain changes color while animating. The lamp animation is messed up. The thing where yellow and red go by to the left and right is wrong, as you’re supposed to be able to see Jazz through it. CelL made the transparent parts black, it seems.
It’s also missing tiles. Yes, it has tons of tiles the previous Medivo conversions didn’t, mostly variants of the same few tiles (though admittedly a decent amount of them were in the original Medivo), but CelL should have looked at the rain more closely. Yes, he noticed it is in layer 4. However, it has more then one animation. It actually lands on the walls.
Also, it overwrites Ice Wolf’s conversion of Medivo. Now I have to remake all my levels (just one, fortunately, I think) that used it. Blah.

On the good side, this has tons of tiles, is far superior to the old versions, has a working (You can tell CelL is improving just from that) textured background, good tubes, H/V poles, blocks, MOST of the original tiles, and a large variety they are!

This is a very good conversion, but its more-then-fair-share of bugs prevents it from getting a higher rating.

The betatesters seens like they did not notice:
-The 500 bumb aren’t fixed
-There is small white spots at one of the animations of the flashing lamp.
-The tileset aren’t userfriendly in JCS.

So CelL won’t get a 10 from me thought, but I like it very well this time.
