Ok hears 1 review to go. This pack is basically about Jazz and spaz taking a walk and getting lanched in marble gardens.

LIMG Story. This just introduces the plot.

Lost in Marble gardens: I\‘ve play this level from sonic the hedgehog 3 (ahh the memorys) This level rocks. It can be a little short but it\‘s all there. Theres just the right amount enemys in the level. There are tons of puzzles (about 6) and a couple of them are hard. The last one is a real neck breaker. It\‘s possible but it is supper hard. Then at the end Spaz18 put a bolly boss which is a good thing becuase it looks most like a boss that would be used in sonic. Over all great level. The only thing that needs a little work is the eyecandey. There is only background eyecandey. Why not try forground eyecandy?
Level rating: 7/10.

LIMG end: This is basicly just a boss battle between devan and jazz. I like how Spaz got the players attention with 1ups. Good idea.

LIMG real end: This is a battle bettween Blisy and jazz now. There\‘s a cool idea in this level though. In order to get to the boss you have to destroy the crate but in order to destroy it you need the elctro blaster weapon.

Conclution. this pack is a bit short but while it lasts it\‘s really good. To me I felt like I was playing sonic. Good show. I still wish that the pack was longer but that\‘s ok. I still think it\‘s good. If have 15 or 30 minutes to kill (depending on you skill level)download this pack.

Total score I give this pack a 7/10.

i cant rate this particularly high, and it’s nothing personal but here goes:

I havn’t been able to play the whole thing through because it is rather glitchy, in the first level, i got stuck in the wall at the bit with the dissapearing platforms at the top with the invisible sucker sucker tubes, after playing again, jazz got stuck doing the helecopter ear thing and couldnt jump after coming out of one of the puzzles, i know my maps arn’t nearly as long or intricate but i make an effort not to make such things occur. and if the first level is anything to go by, then this will need to be scrapped and get a complete re-do.

the puzzle are rather ingenious, but you should have made the bouncers and purple thing respawn because other people dont know what you are trying to achieve and there was no way to suicide without having to return to the title screen and start all over again, even worse if you use a gamepad and sit back from the screen. in the puzzle where you go underwater, the water is far too dense and i can just barely see the spikes if i screw my eyes up tight (btw im in 16 bit mode) the rain doesn’t help either

it does have its good points though, the tileset is a nice conversion of sonic 3,(but wasn’t made by you) the level (what i was able to play of before the glitches took over) is rather ingenious but the water is too dense and suprise spikings are no fun

conclusion: i havn’t played all of it because the glitches made it impossible, the rain is nice but far too thick and damn near un-finishable

reccomendation: i should think the review was enough

The tile set was great but the levels weren’t, I personaly hate level that make you die if you lose the flip of the coin. Which each of your levels (besides the first and 3rd one) did. The music was well done. And the idea is great, but the carry out was just all wrong, and that’s what matters most.

So keep working on it, and hopefully world 2 will be improved.

This is a good level.

Eyecandy
It was ok, but when you used layer 3 to make paths I could see Jazz from the top and bottom.

Gameplay
The gameplay was very good, as there are two paths so that increases replay value.

General
The level is good generally, but it was a bit short, lacked eyecandy, and the bird flew away often, but I expect that “Froggy or Birdy 2” will be much better.

Well I was feeling a real mario game.

But you made only one world.
And Let’s Going go:

Eyecandy:

Not bad or good I would giv it anice rating. you got your 3 rating for this.

Gameplay:

The three won’t be okay alone there must be improves and reduces.

I didn’t like the gameplay. Mario sends us to the death place while luigi does his job correct. So keep your 1 rating in the right place so there are more gameplay to rate.

I’ll write the Important now:

However I was not happy with the pipes and roads warp thing and the switchenzguard was not good looking in the level I prefer devan robot here.
So this will reward a half rating to give you the gameplay rating 1.5

Triggers Pickups:

Frenzy! U
You used a lot! And you get 5 for this
———————————————————
Comments:

None Just do not use more than three go to correct thing. Like I did with the deleted Devan’s tricks by warps.

Final rating:3.6(but I put it to the nearest 3.5.

Well, hmm. I can’t rate that easily because that is no fun or that:)

gameplay:

you asked to use cheats in that:)

Frog:

The frog doesn’t jump high and if I don’t jump to the other ledge i’ll fall to a pond of fish and restart and this is not fair beacause I am not used to frogs and this can be too hard!

Bird:

U put a cage and a transform into a bird thing.+ I am not the thing!

The bird flies and it was the real time
to need. you needed to put another bird cage with the one with the tnt and I used jjbird to complete that.

rating: 2.5

Eyecandy:

No sense only layers 8, 4, 3 and (5,6 or 7) but i am not sure that those are used. but liked it.

rating:3

triggers and pickups:

U inserted fake crates and fake TNT and that was not good but I adore tricks so a five is yours with that.
But the worse is u put the original in hidden places which is slightly tricky.

but I dont like.

Rating:5 you are lucky because the fakes which I like.

Comments:

Improve your level by making more things

I think the switchenguards You putted were enough with devan so this will cause reducing because of your put to bilsy in hard which I hate bilsy.

Rating: 3.5
Download:I can’t decide beacuse that was medium and so I’ll give yes.

How do you make J2b? THanks.

Super Jazz Bros.3 World 1 is very well designed with plenty of eycandy and gameplay. The tileset used gives a real “Mario” feel to the levels. I like the “No cheating” idea. My brother was so frustrated when he found out this(he loves to cheat)!-P

The music is my favourite thing about SJB3-W1. I have Modplug Tracker so I can listen to it frm there whenever I want to.

I’m really looking forward to World 2!

6.5 huh? To be honest, at first the pack doesn’t seem like its quality is high enough to give it a 6.5, but it was quite fun still. And if it’s fun, why give it a lower rating?

Gameplay:

You start in Mario World. Mario (or was it Luigi) ask you to find Yoshi’s coins which have been stolen by Devan. So you start collecting coins. When you have 10, go to Luigi (or was that Mario) and he will reward your efforts. That is the concept, and it was fun, though simple and done before. I honestly don’t know what made this fun after all. It’s not all that challenging, nor original or something. Maybe it’s the awesome music. But still, I enjoyed playing. There were some bugs though, like getting stuck in appearing walls (through the use of trigger zones) and similiar things. Also, in one level you had to choose the right warp or sucker tube to get the coins, but if you chose wrong, you died. I didn’t like that. I was lucky though, and there was a safepoint right before that part, so it was ok. I didn’t manage to find all coins in every level, which makes for some replay value.

Rating: 6.5

Difficulty:

Wasn’t very hard. No challenging enemies, easy puzzles and the like. But it didn’t get boring. There was a good balance between the collecting aspect, finding triggers and shooting stuff. The boss at the end was very easy though. A different arena would have suited him well.

Rating: 5.7

Creativity:

I’ve seen Mario world levels before, and never really liked the idea. The cartoonish Mario world doesn’t really suit Jazz. The puzzles weren’t highly creative here, but they did their job. And that’s better than no puzzles at all, or lame ones. There were some nice gameplay ideas, though sometimes they weren’t executed very well.

(I wanted to insert a screenshot here, but freenet doesn’t open)

The “big maze” is really not difficult nor mazelike at all, some more twists would have helped.

Rating: 6.0

Eyecandy:

The Mario graphics may look good on a gameboy, but on a computer screen they’re not a pleasure to look at. This is the first problem, the second being that the tileset use isn’t very well. In some parts the scenery looks very unrealistic (the maze for example), there are many tilebugs and, it just isn’t very beautiful. Then again, the Mario tileset is probably quite limited.

Rating: 5.0

Design/Story:

The story isn’t highly original, but it gets the job done. It also gives the whole thing some meaning, something to do (other than randomly walking around shooting all those baddies). It’s all designed reasonably well, apart for the unrealistic look.

Rating: 6.7

Overall:

Maybe it’s the jolly music. Maybe it’s just me in a good mood. Or maybe it’s just quite a good levelpack after all. Troublespots are eyecandy and difficulty, but it’s still fun. If you’re a Mario fan, look for some easy enjoyment, or have some other reason, feel free to download and get carried away by the awesome music.

Final Rating: 6.5
Download Recommendation: Yes

Have fun.

Rating Froggy or Birdie

To start:
This level are absolutely not particular and fairly small and with that no recommendation.

Eyecandy: (20 pts)
There is no forefront. There is a context, but that is absolute not well, only layer 8 was used to my idea. The paths are also not real particular.
Result: 6 pts

Gameplay: (20 pts)
Firstly you must choose or you play the level as a frog or as bird. Afterwards you must fly or jump a zone, between lasers and over pools. To end descend there are lots of Tuf Turtles. In that area you must find TNT to start the fight with Devan. Original considered, however there are already levels with a rabbit as frog or bird.
Result: 13 pts

Story: (10 pts)
There is no story. So this factor does not count your rating.
Result: N/A

Obstacle placement: (20 pts)
The level is short, but here and there very difficult, for example at the Tuf Turtles, where you must search TNT.
Result: 14 pts

Bonus placement: (10 pts)
The bonusses are placed badly. For example if you play on Easy. there are much too much carrots and 1UPs then.
Result: 3 pts

Total points: 36
Maximum number of points: 80-10(story)= 70
Calculating: 36/70*9+1

Bad. Just bad. I first played as froggie, which seemed to do fine. I died, and then I played birdie. I lost my bird, and since I don’t like it when it is neccesary to cheat, I commited suicide by the bat. Then, I respawned as birdie, and I wanted to play froggie again. But when I entered the way to the frog, I became stuck. Bad!

How do I mask the Foreground Tiles?
Also, why hasn’t anyone rated my Super Jazz Brothers 3 pack?

EDIT: Oh, ok thanks. So don’t just mask the passage but also the tiles AROUND the passage.

@Donda97: Here’s how to make j2b files.
1. Download Mod2j2b from here: http://www.dutchfurs.com/~haze/blog/files.php?cat=files&dir=files/pc/utils
2. Put it in the folder where you installed Jazz 2 (Probably C:/Games/Jazz2.) TSF or 1.23 will work.
3. In the Start Menu click “Run,” browse to where mod2j2b is and open it.
4. Type in the filename of the music you want to convert. Type like this: “C:/Games/Jazz2/modj2b.exe” insertfilenamehere.it
5. It will work on XM, S3M, IT and 669 formats. Won’t work on MP3, WAV, WMA or anything else.
6. The file should be converted to j2b now. It will be the same filename but with a .j2b extension.

Not that great.

Eyecandy 2/5: It was okay for the tileset used, but it could have been better. You need to properly mask the foreground tiles when you make a secret passage. There were parts where I could see my sprite through the wall.

Gameplay 1/5: It was mostly hurt events and areas crowded with baddies. You didn’t really make anything challenging or creative. The level was far too short.

Item placement: Since this was a custom level, it didn’t really need a whole lot of ammo or powerups. However, if the level had been longer, you could have added more food.

Fun factor: Yeah, it was a good concept, but it could have been done better.

EDIT: Go into layer 3 and put extra tiles around the other passage tiles to hide the character’s sprite.

Hey well I haven’t completed it yet but I like the cencept of it, very fun.

Although there is a simple bug in that special area in Toads House, once you exit it you get teleported back to the warp that you used to come into it, which warps you back into Toads house.

So I like it, people may think I might be going soft but it’s my first review.

Eh? 1.23 does have usable trigger zones.

246=Trigger Zone |+|Trigger |Trigger|Zone|TriggerID:5|onoff:1|switch:1

Just add that into the JCS.ini in place of the default event 246 and it works fine..
