Snooze won’t let anyone (who is anyone) down with this compilation of quality levels.
He certainly ‘took a risk’ with the layout of DDRR and the level looks slightly bland in comparison, but none of these levels are any worse than ‘good’.
The CTFs still seem to be of slightly higher quality than the battles, but that’s how it should be.
Another solid, but not spectacular level by SJ.
SJ’s levels are always fun to play, and they manage to be ‘good’ or better in every single aspect almost always.
This symmetric one ain’t any different.
Just as SJ said, this plays well with at least 6 players. It isn’t a huge level, but the layout definitely makes it feel bigger.
Thumbs up.
This is the epitome of a well-done collaboration by skillful tileset builders.
The tileset is — as some people like to say — easy to use, but hard to master, which is a common attribute of really well constructed tilesets.
This is a tileset you definitely want to download if you’re looking for a tileset without limitations.
Great job guys.
I noticed that for some extremely peculiar reason I had not reviewed this, although I was going to review it.
I won’t be writing a humongous review, which this’d certainly deserve, so I’ll just summarize it in a few words.
This is the best or at the very least, the second-best single player release so far and everything about it kicks ass.
Snz continues to roll with another top-notch asymmetric CTF level.
The amount of eye-candy couldn’t possibly be any better.
The level looks great, but not confusing in the least. The theme is great, but that’s a question of taste.
Everything is also well placed (i.e. some ammo is placed in strategic locations).
Definitely try this one out.
FS has done it again.
Another spectacular CTF level with awesome gameplay, an enjoyable and well constructed layout and nice eye-candy that supports the theme.
The ice-shortcut adds a nice strategy-element to navigating the level and even further improves the gameplay.
I’d say this is a top-10 level since 2006, but that’s just me.
Try it out.
Great tileset all around. Great theme, good amount of tiles, good colouring, looks smooth, is versatile…
Need I say more… Make more tilesets!
(Don’t stick with crysilis till judgment day, ffs!) Let’s go with the good ol’ pros and cons.
+ Nice, complete usage of Crysilis
+ Eyecandy is good, yet isn’t confusing
+ Level features a healthy mix of different gameplay elements
- Eyecandy is a bit plain in places
— Extensive usage of float-ups for the “betterment” of flow
It’s a no-brainer that this level is right up there alongside Atom Heart and EARTH.
Everything about this level is good. The layout isn’t too complicated (like in most ‘modern’ levels), placement is balanced all over the level, the eye-candy is great and the theme of the level is well sustained and supported.
Definitely one of SJ’s best.
Save the few steep hills, this level should suit anyone’s tastes.
The present gameplay elements are nicely organized and form a well working, enjoyable system.
Eyecandy is above decent given the tileset, carrots and PUs are well placed and the flow is good where it needs to be.
I don’t see a reason why this wouldn’t be good for duels.
I didn’t exactly expect Snz to do so great making the leap from MP to SP all of a sudden.
I couldn’t have been more wrong. The atmosphere might not be there for everyone, but the levels are very interesting and it often feels like nothing in the levels is insignificant.
Awesome job, do make more SP, but don’t forget about CTF.
“The best just got better”.
Or maybe not, who knows…
And that, as they say, is that.
(Pretty much the highest quality tileset usage, eye-candy and themes to be seen throughout the years.)
FS summed it up quite nicely, although I think PJ deserves more of a fair slice…
First of all I gotta point out that if I was still doing the random “9.7!” stuff, I’d give this just that. Secondly, I hate doing things half-way, but I felt like I had to review this, while avoiding writing a shit novel.
The level is real hard to master, and the smoke ring pit can be quite annoying.
But it’s real enjoyable, so download it!
