As far as I know, there are a lot of uploads of the Orbitus levels uselessly converted to JJ2 levels, without even using a tileset remake, or adding any new enemy, or anything. Cloning JJ1 levels to JJ2 is NOT a progression! It’s a REGRESSION!!!

This is a cool level.
OLO’s fanolint level is made indeed with the Sonicnathan 1 tileset, a file curiously unreleased to J2O but of fairly nice quality. Music is JJ1 accurate, buggage is low.
I didn’t like the large amount of baddies in the level. This unfortunately seems to be a recurring trend among most jazz1 level aspirations, another of which is a depressingly small amount of singular eye candy. The level had a good style, but seemed to have a large amount of pickups.
In short I liked it, but there are [as always] some things to go back and fix up a bit. Dl rec, cause I’m feeling generous.

Well, well! Another level from OLOELO, and about time too.
Pretty good level design, eyecandy was okay. Music was right, and buggage was small. I do think there were a lot of baddies, but oh well.
THINGS I LIKED
I liked how you gave the bg a partial link tone. I know, it would have been nice of Lark to at least put the JJ1 bg in his set, but that has naught to do with this review. I liked how you used the eyecandy pretty well, with some “open”-feeling areas, and some tight-feeling ones.
THINGS I DIDN’T LIKE
I didn’t like how certain areas seemed too small in terms of level design. There were a multitude of tubes at the beginning, which can get to be a bit monotonous after a while. Not a hugely upsetting amount, but a pretty big one.
There were some spots where the tiles just seemed to repeat. But only a few. So to wrap up, and to go and eat my supper, good level, nice design but just a few things to fix. For a brief hiatus, this is pretty neat. DL, but don’t forget to fix it up a bit.
Cheers!

Okay, time to write a review! For this pack, anyway. Good job, Oloelo, Episode 2 is good. Not that it doesn’t have its problems, but that’s what the review is for.

QUALITY
Overall, it was nice. You put food items in [Yay!], plenty of ammo, throw in a couple jazz2 shields, plus loads of baddies. The secret level was average, but you need to hide it better. I found it by accident, before I found the main exit! Lolz. Anyways, there were some highlights [like the spike balls in TechNoir, the animations in Orbitus], and some downers [secret level too easy to find, float lizards in every level,]. But it was good.

TILES
Good job. You used the Letni tileset well, even though it lacks much variety. Same with TechNoir. Orbitus had good eyecandy, excellent anim’s, a somewhat large selection of different tiles, and more. Anyway, the sets were good, you used accurate music, so nice work. The Letni levels made good use of the set, which clearly needs to be redone. TechNoir’s set needs revision. Orbitus is fine.

BUGGYNESS
And here we are, and again, we have some minor buggage. In Letni, I noticed you foregrounded the magnets, which doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me. In the TechNoir secret level [Find the level yourself, :) :) :)], I caught a major bug at the end. During the narrow passageway runs, there is a box in the endwall. I ended up on top of the box and promptly found myself stuck in the wall. Aw, man! So I used jjfly and jjnowall, and the world was saved. But this is a mojor problemo, so definitely fix that. There was one other place I got stuck in the wall, but as I can’t remember where, and it might have been on my stupidity, I won’t count it. But some things to work on, there are.

EYE CANDY
This was pretty good overall. You made good use of the cityscape of TechNoir, like in Jazz1, In Letni, you put plenty of yellow foreground-thingys, plus tv screens. In Orbitus, plenty of water….falls, for lack of a better phrase, plenty of detail in the blue “cave” walls, so you were not lacking in that department. Now I said plenty overall, not tons overall. It wouldn’t hurt to just touch it up just a little bit here and there. It’s always a good thing to add some eye candy. Just be sure not to make too much of it. If there’s more than you need, then players are either gonna sit and stare at your designs, or else get totally sick of it and quit. So, regulation is the key, watch the amounts of detail you put in.

PROBLEMS
It worked just fine in TSF, I don’t know whether or not it’ll run in 1.23, but it works in TSF. That’s always good.

THINGS I DIDN“T LIKE
I didn’t really like the amount of float lizards you put in your levels. Sure, maybe one area, but all three?! A little creativity goes a long way. I also didn’t like the part at the beginning of Letni level 2 with the one-way floor, the red springs, and the magnet. I’m beginning to believe that it isn’t humanly possible to avoid cheating at that part, and eventually it got to that point for me. Jazz1 had this, but they gave you a little room to jump. I got very frustrated on that part because of this. The so-called “puzzle” in the secret level really wasn’t a puzzle at all: I beat it fairly quickly. Without special moves. Maybe make that a little bit harder? And just a small thing that doesn’t really bug me, but might irritate spelling freaks is that your grammar was a tiny bit off. I personally don’t care, since you are from another country, and so likely don’t use English as well as an American might, but some people might get a little tight under the collar. Maybe find someone who could check grammar before you release so that it’s all set to go? Like I said, it’s really not important, so I’ll let you decide if you want to fiddle with that or not.

SUMMARY
So, what advice can I give you to end this review? Goodbye, good job, and better luck next time? No way! That’s just talk, not advice. Just remember to focus on quality and not quantity, pay attention to your details, and after some brushing up I thing you’ll be sitting pretty. My final verdict is this: You did a good job on this pack. Levels were done well, structured, easy to play [but not to beat :P], and while there were some things to consider repairing, it’s pretty nice. It deserves a good label. Readers, if you want to download this, you certainly can. I would recommend you do download it, if not because of the work that Oloelo did on it, then just because it’s a fun pack that is certainly playable, even if it has a few trouble spots that could use a good tune-up. Good work, but make your revisions, put it back up again, and watch the people flock to download Oloelo’s Episode Two:—Ballistic Bunny!

_______________________________________
Olo, helicopter was NOT present in Jazz1, so diehard fans might not appreciate it. I beat the secret level puzzle on my first try. There was no mistake, I didn’t uppercut or helicopter. It was too easy. My point about the lizards was there were too many. You can sue me about the levels they were in.

(I made Orbitus. Honestly. :( ~Violet)

Well, OLO, you have some very good stuff here! The goods are viewable [several Jazz1 levels loosely based on the original game, using nice sets, good music], but there were some buggage issues…
Masking on Raneforus was ATROCIOUS, with your attempts at walls falling a bit short [it was a good try, but…..Raneforus doesn’t have in-wall-tiles :(]. Industrius had a great bg, Megaairbase was well structured, I think you’re enjoying this project! But like others have said, there really isn’t much gameplay involved.
To wrap it up, you did a good job. Your levels do need improvement, but not a serious overhaul. Just go back and fix it. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.

EDIT
Mmadguy, that is a glitch on JJ2’s part. It has nothing to do with OLOELO’s levels.

Ouuu this is quite not that you said,PT32…
Some thing to explain:

1.Float Lizards:Yes you say good! Too many of this, but I won’t change this now(I promise it won’t repeat in Episode Three)But not in whole episode in Technoir Float Lizards didn’t perform, but indeed variety of enemies was small.

2.Letni lvl 2 beginning stuff: It’s very simple thing to do. Only turn on helicopter and will be ok.

3.This is exactly that which I written in Technoir Secret Level:If you make any mistake in this puzzles press JJK to try again. You had to put Big Boxes in correct sequence but if you didn’t this it could be mistake ;).

It’s rather all, thanks for rate and goodbye again.

This is a nice selection of JJ2 levels.
However, the levels are too easy to get through and there aren’t any puzzles like Trigger Crates here.
Also, there were some masking problems in some levels especially the Raneforus one.

I’ll give this a 7.0 for effort and for good eyecandy. You are skilled with JCS, try to learn more of the events.

9.5? really.. this is obviously very high.. i can’t say this is as good as the levels from evilmike which get around these ratings.. i found some more bugs then you did.. sorry.

the levels are fairly good with some flaws.. there are some bugs which you can see during playing. like the vines in raneforus. they are masked well, but u didn’t put a vine event on it. which makes it pretty confusing and irritating. for the rest, i saw a huge bug in the orbitus level, actually 2, which wasn’t needed. u tried the let the vertical tubes get you up.., diagonal.. but u did this by combinating the hor-spring event + tubes, and this wasn’t needed. you can both edit x- and y- speed. If you do both above speed 20 u can blast yourself diagonal, so this is a better way, unbugged, to blast yourself up.. cause the springs and tubes may cause problems
which brings u down, instead off up.
the other bug wasn’t that big but just handy to know.. as i can see you know both the hurt and bee event. only to bad u used the bee event. because i saw a bug in this. even you can’t see any picture, you’re seekers still go to the bee events. you see something (actually nothing) splat. if there is a enemy close and you want to kill him with seekers, and ur seekers go to the “hurt” bee event. is something what you don’t want and that would be quite nasty.

forgot to mention, the vine events in orbitus weren’t used. and in overall, in all levels, the paths were to small to play in. of course it must be like the real jj1.. what u tried to make. but it’s still not very well done. the industrius level is okay, but quite short.

overall gameplay is okay, but could be better. this also comes cause off the bugs in levels. most time there is only 1 path to follow, what is quite boring. there is no story as far as i know, and there are no puzzles. i actually never saw things like trigger crates, platforms, scenery events. you only used some certain events over and over again in all those levels.

this was about gameplay.. now go on with eyecandy, which is a small part in my whole review. the eyecandy is nice done. just like the real jj1, its not the nicest. since we know make random walls and chambers etc in walls, but that’s not the real jj1 style, we both know that. u did ur job as converting the eyecandy well. but overall now in 2008 the eyecandy for a jj2 level is just “okay”. i don’t know if u made the layout urself or u just copied out off jj1. if u did, then it’s quite easy, to copy everything, and hardly needed inspiration, but i leave this for now. since i don’t know if u did or didn’t.

and now the placement.. which will take longer than the eyecandy part.. maybe even longer than the beginning. the placement is something what you can’t copy out off jj1 levels, since jj2 has a whole different set off placement in the event list. the levels are quite easy, u hardly die. u cared to much about carrots and ammo placement, there could be more events like coins for a bonus and food. i saw to much ammo piles, and carrots. as you know u have 5 hearts at the beginning of every level, and counting the carrots up i come out on like 5 +1 carrots in each level, which is quite to much for a gameplay like this. the monsters are easy to kill. and the placement is to easy to find. and 2 +1 carrots in the same room? i think that’s to much. the are also to much invisible carots. next time use more events, what i also said above in the gameplay column.

Overall rating:
good things are:

the real jj1 eyecandy.
the good chosen monsters.
finding out the layer 8 bg in industrius.
the amount of gems.

Bad Things are:

all the bugs i found
the low amount of difference in events
some irritating one way ground.
the amount of carrots and ammo placement.
no coins.
almost no food. (no way to get a sugar rush or sth)

overall, u still get download recommendation for you’re work. since nobody seems to be impressed by our fantastic jj1 game anymore.

but the bad things smashes ur rating to a fairly 6.7 which could be better.

We’ll see how things go next time.

~Faw

oh, and by the way, i also give this rating because i think PT32’s rating is rediciously high, like all ratings he give. of course it’s his opinion, but if u look at the fairly rating of the whole j2o downloads system. than i think his ratings are way to high. this may get irritating for people. since the ratings aren’t fairly based anymore. whine what you want :P, but these ratings did irritate me.

** pt32, no i am not trying to insult you.. the only thing i want to say u that ur ratings are way to high if u look to others. make a more based rating . let’s not make this a fight or something ;). that u get mad or something.. wasn’t my meaning. it was only about “different” ratings u give then normal guys. and i thought the vines weren’t used in jj1 because there wasn’t a event for this ;S

You have the feel of the origional JJ1 tileset use down, but you miss features that even JJ1 had.

Where are the secrets? Springs were not used until medivo. Where are the goodies?

Hiding enemies is a general levelmaking no-no.

Levels were Linear and did not provide much to explore. I’m willing to let that slide a little; they were quite long.
