I really enjoyed this Episode, but I wasn’t able to tell which was the starting level.

WINTER CELEBRATION REVIEW:

STORY: Jazz/Spaz/Lori journey to each of the Planets that were in HH 94 & 95.

EYECANDY: Backgrounds look great, eyecandy has now improved in the first 2 levels. I love the snow effects used in the Christmas levels. The moving Chocolate Bars in the background was superb. How can I do something like that? Tilesets are also used very well. 10/10

GAMEPLAY: There are special warps that take the player to different puzzles where they can find the last 5 or so coins. Superb idea! The levels are long, about 20 minutes each. Dunno what else to say for Gameplay. A secret level can now be found in the first Holidaius level. 10/10

PICKUPS: Very well placed. Not too many or too less. Not too many 1UPs or Shields are placed in these levels which is good as too many 1UPs or Shields would make it easy. Power-Ups are found in Bonus Areas rather than out in the open. There is a shield in the 2nd Bloxonius level but it’s only used to get pass the Dragons. 10/10

ENEMIES/OBSTACLES: Enemies are very well placed. Not too many or too less. There are some obstacles in each of the levels. Trigger Crates need to be found in order to progress through the rest of the level. There is a Schwartzenguard Boss in the last level which can only be accessed by blowing up the TNT Blocks. 10/10

TOTAL = 40/40 (10.0)

DOWNLOAD RECOMMENDATION = YES!

SUMMARY: An excellent Christmas level pack which uses the Bloxonius and HH94 & 95 tilesets.

EDIT: For those who don’t know, the starting level is “Holidaius1.j2l” without the quotes.

EDIT2: I replayed the pack again today and I enjoyed it so much, so I decided to increase the score.

Rating Winter Celebration

To start
Excellent Xmas-episode where Jazz, Spaz and Lori visit the three planets of the Holiday Hare episode ’94 and ’95 again to cover the Tuf Turtle eventually.

Six levels
In six levels, two on each planet Jazz, Spaz and Lori must finish the courses. What really does not fit, is that there only one end boss on the last planet (Bloxonius) is. The rabbits could also right to Bloxonius go, because on the other planets only obstakels and no end bosses.

Compliment and moan first planet
The music from the first planet is good chosen. But I give no bonus for this, because that is not permitted.
This is a pity: the eyecandy of the first planet is bad, while it is very good at the other two planets.

Conclusion
But this is all in all a good Jazz Jackrabbit XMAS-episode. In spite of these shortcomings this is further a recommendation.

Mark: 7,6

[Rating (7.6) clearance. Aside from pointing out the eyecandy this review said NOTHING about the level quality. WHY is the first level’s eyecandy bad? WHY is the other levels’ eyecandy good? Things like “In six levels, two on each planet Jazz, Spaz and Lori must finish the courses. What really does not fit, is that there only one end boss on the last planet (Bloxonius) is. The rabbits could also right to Bloxonius go, because on the other planets only obstakels and no end bosses.” are IRRELEVANT of the level quality and should NEVER be rated. What should be rated is the EYECANDY and GAMEPLAY of the level, and you didn’t review NEITHER. ~Very annoyed Cooba]

Ischa, maybe it’s your opinnion, but i don’t think this is a good reason to break points just because the queen is friendly!? This is just a story, does this really matters that the queen must be evil everytime? This is my idea, maybe that’s yours!
By the way, the music of the second level is one of the official musics of that tileset from Tomb Rabbit. I just wanted to be loyal to that episode, so didn’t change the music. You should not make me responsible for that. I’d be very happy if you’d re-review the level pack according to these.
Thank you
Chandie

Hello, Chandie!
This is your rating for the Morph Machine version 4:

Tileset
It are good tilesets. Very good tilesets. Egyptic tilesets for an Egyptic episode.
Rating: 9.1

Music
Good music, but not good placed. Only level one is good. Level two’s music is more future-style and level three and the escape more jungle-style and the credits is classic JJ2-music.
Rating: 4.7

Obstacles
The obstacles are good. The levels are hard, but possible… but more possible with cheats. Very difficult.
Rating: 10+

Story
Good chosen, but the Queen was too friendly. It is a boss and no good guy.

Sounds like a great campine, but after I downloaded the levels my game never picked them up, so I can’t play any level. I recommned looking this over.

Update: After chandie kindly guided me how to fix my problem I played the campain and it was very good. The levels are long but entertaining, it\‘s diffacult but not unbeatable, and I thought it was alot of fun with the frog. I wish the campain had more levels, but there could alwas be a part two. Highly recommend this campain.

Firstly, great levels before I start the review.

CHRISTMAS LEVELS:

Poor eyecandy in both levels. The levels are a bit easy but that doesn’t matter. The item placement is great and gameplay is great!! Rating: 7.0

CANDY LEVELS:

Better…. Again the levels are easy and eyecandy isn’t great but there isn’t as many errors in these levels as in ‘Christmas’ so that brings your score up. RATING: 7.5

BLOCK LEVELS:

The best out of all of them. There is huge amounts of gameplay in places and these levels are harder. RATING: 7.7

BONUSES/SUBTRACTIONS:

Save point placement in level 1 of ‘Christmas’ -0.2

Platform use in Blocks2 +0.2

Snow use in Candy levels +0.1

Challenges in levels +0.4

Seperate Ammo for levels +0.1

TOTAL: +0.6

AVERAGE RATING: 8.0

FINAL COMMENT: Download this.

This is an overall solid pack. While the levels are very linear and aren’t extremely original, they are well constructed and pretty fun. The lack of a story does lead to some problems though, since this means the pack is just a series of levels with no real point. This can lead to boredom in some areas.

I noticed a couple of fairly large bugs in this pack. Electro blaster can be abused to get powerups, and hit save points (you can skip pretty much the entire last level this way). Also, when you come back from the bonus level, there is no water which means you can touch the bottom of the level.

Event placement is well done for the most part. Annoying enemies like ravens and dragonflies were a bit too common in my opinion though. I also thought that powerups were placed in far too easy areas, and that made the coin warps pretty pointless.

Overall the quality of this pack is roughly on par with the standard jj2 singleplayer. The tileset even has a different pallete for the second level using it, like standard jj2.

I give this an 8.5. Most of these levels are around 7.0 quality, but this pack overall deserves more than that.

Why are you guys messing up this download page with talks like that? And Dx, it looks like you always ask that question when a level is TSF. There are many people that only have or use TSF. And now, be happy that we finally see something different on the Jazz2 community again. The last year we didn’t got much good single player works, it looks like almost everybody only cares about the multiplayer modes last time. This level don’t deserves stupid ‘fake’ review posts, it needs fresh, long reviews and that is axactly what I’m going to do now!

THE CONTENT:
This is a single player pack that contains 6 levels ordered in the standard Jazz2 episode way, or whatever you would call that. Those levels where made in Jazz1 conversion tilesets. It also has music files from Jazz1, of course the ones that fit with the correct tileset.

THE PLACEMENT:
These levels have anything a single player level needs. It hasn’t overused food items, much gems, enemies that fit into the level where you are, good ammo placement, and of course coins and a coin warp! And don’t forgot about the trigger puzzles, it has some non original puzzles but also much very original ones! The eyecandy placement could be better, but it still looks good.

THE USE:
This pack just never bores you. Even if you are tired of single player. It’s just that the gameplay is original, how original? find that out yourself! The levels are even as long as the original Jazz2 levels. That means this is as long as one of the normal Jazz2 episodes. The placement of poles, vines, and tubes are well used though.

THE SCORE:
Not much to say in here, I’m glad that chandie made a new level pack and I hope everyone would download this masterpiece. This review was worth for it!

(Please stop posting one line reviews complaining about uploads being 1.24. This adds nothing to the download page and is a waste of (admittedly little) space. If you will persist on clicking on uploads which require TSF, I suggest buying TSF. ~Violet)

Hellow, here to give out some points again… =D

Gameplay
The story was very nice. Nothing like a bad guy and frogs. Apart from that, the levels were a bit crowded. The paths were narrow and loads of baddies, sometimes unpredictable, which can be annoying.

Eyecandy
Loads of pillars, curtains and other stuff. No holding back on the eyecandy for you!

Creativity
I never thought the frog can be so powerfull. The idea of pushing a trigger crate over a TNT wasn’t such a bad idea at all! You got extra credit for this one!

Originality
Not the most original, I must say. I still have an old frog episode somewhere, and I’ve seen a few on the net too. Apart from that, this wasn’t bad at all.

Overall
It seems like I will give you an 8. It was not bad at all, but it could have a little improvement. Work on ‘space’ and enemies you ‘can’ beat.

Good Thing
Frog can destroy crates afterall!

Bad Thing
Why does Jazz has to crawl his way through these levels?

Score
8.0

Download recommendation
Certainly worth the play!

Great episode, good leveldesign, even with the “bug” in ending the eyecandy is fine. I like the idea of using darker tileset instead of darkening the whole castle. I really hope this is not your “last word” ;)
