This is nice, yes, but I can’t see how such a slow song could fit in with JJ2’s action filled gameplay, you know?

I will now try to find everything wrong with this level.

GAMEPLAY:

This part of the level is not very good. At all. I don’t think there’s anything in this that would make it different than a battle level. And not a great one at that. In either case, it’s too big (at least IMO). Resizing from the default size would be nice. The bases were placed at the top corners of the level. This makes them both just a few tiles away from the top which could cause a lot of problems. It has horrible flow, too many platforms, deadends, no borders around the level to prevent the flag bug (I advise using at least 2 tiles, although 3 is better), and it is too open in various places. To make things worse, this level uses an annoying amount of poles (there were some poles about 10 tiles wide). And to top things off, there are hurt events. Yes, hurt events. The same things that kill the server but not anyone else. Don’t use hurt events in multiplayer. Ever.

I also forgot to comment on the chatroom. Never, ever, ever put a chatroom in a multiplayer level. There are chat clients for this. If you want players to be chatting instead of playing in your levels, then maybe you should get more experience in JJ2 before making any more levels.

EYE CANDY:

The eye candy actually wasn’t too bad at first glance. It’s nothing spectacular (it’s somewhat average) but it does try to be slightly different in some areas. But then there’s the background. Only one layer was used (no mountains, just the sky). It didn’t look that bad, but it was lazy, and laziness is never a good sign. And there was one place where solid 4th layer tiles were used in a BG layer which may be a little confusing. Not the worse thing, but still annoying.

CARROT AND AMMO PLACEMENT:

Several +1 carrots near poles. Atrocious. Try using a full energy carrot or two (not too close together) somewhere near the middle of the level instead next time. Ammo was unevenly distributed, mainly because of the giant open spaces with almost nothing in them. Powerup placement wasn’t much better, and some powerups were too close to each other.

HOST THIS OFTEN?

Not a chance. I advise working on battle levels a little more before tackling CTF levels. And it’s “Reign” not “Regin” just to let you know. I’m rating this a 5.

Well, now. This isn’t as good as Mirrow’s Kingdom, but it’s a nice tileset… it’s about time Mirrow makes another tileset, too. I love his sets ;)

There is only one animating tile, a nice fire sprite. Mirrow was never big on animation.

The colors are quite nice, too.

The background is good looking, nice and green! Hehe. It can be made a textured background, which looks down right AWESOME.

The famous Mirrow woman is here, too.

The trees have a nice, 3D and shiny look to them. I don’t really think the trees look nice, but it’s original, and nice in it’s own nice kind of way.

There is a picture of Disguise in here, too, but it’s kind of low quality, but Mirrow couldn’t help that.

The best thing of all about this set is that there are no ripped tiles. Mirrow doesn’t like ripping tiles. Pat yourself on the back, Mirrow. Ripped tiles get annoying. ;)

Another great thing is the size. Most of Mirrow’s sets are inky-dinky, but this is a decent sized set. It also has a strange resemblance to Raging Inferno, one of Disguise’s tilesets. Why I say this, I’m not sure, but… it just does ;)

The mask is more or less “evil.” No, not as evil as the Medivo and Colonius masks, but it’s evil. You can easilly get stuck in some jagged edges… go to the left wall in the example level and try “jumping” into the little places in the wall where they go in… you’ll get stuck.

This is an overall nice download, especially if you are a Mirrow-fan.[This review has been edited by labratkid]

+.5 because I’ve grown attached to it.[This review has been edited by labratkid]

Nice tileset :P and just for disguise lol (it is like an early Christmas gift =D) Keep up the good work (tileset/level making) but it seems kind of low detail.
Next tileset idea:
Take pictures of places (like ur house) and turn them into a tileset :P (i have seen something somewhat like that but i cant put my finger on it)
and then use it to create a JJ2 version of your house :)
(it is my idea but
1: i dont have a digital camera.
2: i dont have a scanner.
3: i do not know how to make tilesets.
4: i lack the time for it anyways.
those are my reasons for not doing this so i wanted to pass it on)

Above average, below above average… somewhere in there ;)

Eyecandy is acceptable, all though not good.

Weapons placement is very bad.

Gameplay is good, though.

The level is pretty big, too.[This review has been edited by labratkid][This review has been edited by labratkid]

Eh, it’s a bit above average. 30 colors isn’t much, but it is good for 30 colors, definetely.

Pros…
Shows effort – plenty of tiles.
Easy to build with.

Cons…
Barely any animations.
Not much detail in terms of color shades.

Good for a paint tileset.
Download if you were a fan of Snooz’s newest set.

These levels are really funny, with a good story and everything. Good idea with the carrot signs… the 7:th level, where you had to stop the baddies had a good idea but was booooring! Anyway, download recommendation for all those rabbits who like SP levels (and for all those who don’t like them too).

that last part is supposed to be something of a large battle. Maybe I should make the gunshots quieter?

so that they sound more like a war is happening in the background.

Hmmm. I don’t really know how to rate this. It just adds in some gun shot sounds. They are not in any particular order, they aren’t on beat or anything. This might be good to use in levels, but I wouldn’t use it. This should be very effective when used with Toxic Bunny’s famous WarTorn tileset.

And whoooooooa! All of a sudden, there are way too many gun shots. Ouch.

You know what is the best thing about these fabolous 1.23 level? They aren’t 1.23! That’s right, they’re TSF! Doesn’t that make all you 1.23 players just dying to download this?

Labrat, why such a low rating?

These wonderful levels redifine the basis of level design. The levels are too good to be normal, 1.23 levels, so they are actually one hundredth BETTER! The author was nice enough not to make us look at a background, or any layer besides layer 4 for that matter. These levels are huge; 8 tiles (yes, tiles!) high and 8 tiles (yes, also tiles!) wide. One level even had an EVENT, and not just any event, a seeker powerup! The levels use TONS of the tilesets’ tiles, most used SIX (yes, you heard right – 6!) and one wonderful level even used 2! Overall, I give this a 9 and reccomend download.[This review has been edited by Radium]

As I played through this, I thought, “Not bad.” Well, as I finished, my rating went from a 7.0 to a 6.0, because it’s very short. The eyecandy is decent, but needs to be made better, and the enemy placement is perfect, making a good challenge, and there is food and weapons. But, it’s short. Short, short, short. And JJ2 crashes afterwards.
