Well, the color and texture is good. I like this better than the day version, and the example level showed how to use the set well. Really good clouds and backround stuff. The rain looked like if it hit jazz, it could knock him unconsious :P but it was ok. The tileset was good, Disguise’s 51st tileset claps.
The main tiles were there (just like the first version) but there could of been more eyecandy things added(in the day and night version) because now it looks like a basic tileset that can be used to make a swell CTF level. Not my favorite set by disguise, but he did a great job on this.
Also, i am guessing Disguise used PSP 8 beta for this set, because he told me he will make a set with psp 8, and it might as well be this one.
Great work Disguise!
Thnx, i always seem to forget things. Anyways, the file is reuploaded with the tileset, and Ive fixed one mistake which I forgot to fix before.
An interesting tileset. It looks a bit cartoonish though, you will see a great difference if you compare this to a tileset made by Blade, Agama etc. SOme tiles are pretty much useless, and some dont fit in the theme to much. The tileset overall is ok, the color is a bit strange, but its OK. I wouldnt really use this to build a level, since its not really my theme, but some of you pppl might. It’s great to see CB drawing tilesets and soon I hope he will make some famous ones. For now, this tileset will get a rating of 7 from me, and the download reccomendation Im not very sure of. Good work Craccoboy and I hope you keep making tilesets.
Ok, i remember downloading this a while ago, butjust forgot to rate it.
The tilesets are 3D (duh), but like some people mentioned, they were meant only for the 3 levels made along with them, and other than that they’re almpst useless. The levels are good, some things the author should of avoided (some platforms were to close) but the levels really look 3D and awesome. Unfortunately, they are very small, and there isnt much to explore. They are really worth a download and are cool, so my final rating would be a 7.7. Download this if you want to see your little 2d bunnny traveling through the 3D world. :)The music is ok. Sometimes it sounds a bit “messy” and I didnt like some of the tunes. Im not sure what I’d rate this, because I dont have much experience rating music. There were points where there was to much sound at once, and some beats were very fiendish. It was a good remix, im just not sure what I would ratethis.
Im tired, its late, ill get this over with.
LAYOUT: I didnt like, to open and boring, not much special and to small for people to explore for over 1 minute. Nothing really interesting.
AMMO: Very poor, sparce and uncreatuve, I expected a lot more from a person who reviewed the most levels.
Gameplay: Not too good, but not terrible. Nothing really worth mentioning.
Eyecandy: Well, could of been better.
OVERALL: Just above average with a rating of 6. It looks like trafton spent an hour at most on this, probably way less. Try better next time. This will stay a 6, with no d/l recc. Sorry..
Since Shen wrote a long enough review, ill summarize my thoughts into a short one. The music is great, the backround eyecandy is an interesting idea. I didnt like the layout to much, it was to…plain and to roomy, not my type of level. The ammo was placed ok, the carrot were ok. There is only one powerup (I only found one) and its a seeker. It is easy to locate, and another powerup would be welcome, but the balance right now is ok. My final rating would be a 7.7, since the level is good, but i didnt like the layout much, and it got boring fast. I may upgrade the rating after further play. Great work CelL!
A conversion, great, i love conversions. Here goes the review.
Let me just mention what a good idea it is to have the example level for a jj1 tileset be an actual remake of the level, it was really interesting. Anyways, the tileset was well done. The colors are great, nice to look at and a great copy of the original. There are many tiles added which I missed in the first version, such as the yellow ground animations. There are also many tiles left out, such as destruct blocks and belts (I can really imagine them in the tubelectric set). With those added on (hopefully they will be if the author decides to make a v3) a really excellent level can be made with this set. To bad that the animation of the lazer that the turrets fire isnt included in this version, but the turrets themselves are. I didnt like the mask of the big lights, it was a bitbumpy and all. But the masking is ok, and I can manage a few minor cons. The userfriendly part is ok, not to bad, but not excellent. The animations are great, nothing wrong. Well, the tileset is suffering from some major cons, but other than that its a greatremake and would be used by someone hoping to find a good jj1 tubelectric work. I havent seen much uploads recently by you NewSpaz, and i hope you will make more conversions in the future. For the level ill give it an 8 and a download reccomendation, since it was a great remake.Ok, here goes.
The level is fairly small, and it uses agama’s awesome set. The music is ok, could of been better or could of been worse, but its on the positive side. The eyecandy can get confusing and its a bit overused, but its ok. Ammo placmeent is a bit boring, and the seeker is in a dead end. The carrot placement is a bit biased. There is one plus 1 carrot (at least thats all ive found)and one fullengergy accesed by warp, the carrot placement is a bit biased, since the +1 carrot is closer to one base than the other, while the fullenergy is closer to the other base, making them have a bigger advantage. Ninja tried to make the carrot placement even, but failed. Not all sides of the level are covered, so a flag bug is possible. Also, what blurredD said about the ground is true.
Ill give this level a 7, because its ok. but doesnt strike me as much as some other CTf levels.
Aquatic Dungeon 3: The eyecandy was overdone and confusing at times, but it looked ok and a bit strange. The water shouldnt have been there, but then the level would lose the point of it. Still, you shouldnt have made the player be able to touch the water, looks kinda screwy and hardto see.Layout could use more work but its ok. As far as I could tell the level had a mask around it (invisible tiles), but im not sure a one tile mask will prevent the flag bug. I also got stuck in the red shield tower (and in the same place in the blue shield tower) and found out ive stumbled onto a layer 3 hidden shield (or justan invisible one) and used TNT to escape being trapped and grabbed the shield. Having 2 shields freely lying in a level isnt good, especially when they are poorly placed. I’ve barely found the shield and found it by luck, and what if I hadnt any TNT with me, would I have been stuck forever? Not too good..
Navigation: O.K
Eyecandy: Good
Layout: O.K.
Pickup placement: O.K.
Rating: 7
Stronghold showdown arena:
Firstly, why does this level have a width of around 738 tiles, when it doesnt use around half of them? Some interestingly creativly used tiles, and there is a mask around the level (some parts consisting of invisible tiles), and there are to many one tiled high hard to get through passages. therr were also a few dead ends. I dont know why the author has included an airboard, but oh well.
Navigation: Poor
Eyecandy:Good
Layout:O.K.
Pickup placement: O.K.
Rating: 7
My final rating is a 7. I might have given this a 7.7, but the 9 is overated.
The levels do probably require teamwork, and its like soccer or football(having forwards a.k.a ones who go for the opponents flag, defences who defend their base and midfeilders who wander about in the center of the level. Because of this, i will give the levels 7.2 instead. Teamwork CTf levels are good and strategic, they get you thinking more than normal CTf levels do. I would of rated this higher, but there are some cons which force me to lower my mark. Like ChickenKiller said, this is definately not crap, and worth a download reccomendation.
Hmmm…..Its hard to rate this.
The set itself looks cartoonish, not much texture. I dont really like the snow, but its ok. Different settings and all that, but some tiles are left out. Some cool animations, but like i said before, the main tiles are missing, which takes a big chunk away from the mark. The color is pretty good, and its ok.
Bah, it seems that I cannot compise a long review on this. Ill just end after the sentence im about to say. The tileset is ok, but its nothing really special, download it if you want, we dont have many ice age sets (But we have tons of snowy sets). Well, my review ends here…..right here…..at the end of this sentence…period…(everyone gasps (simpson ripoff))Ok, since EvilMike said most of the stuff in his review, i will keep mine short.
Firstly, good choice of music, it’s very atmospheric. The level is creative, and frequently reminds me of a jungle or a rainforest, which is good, because thats what its suppose to be. One of my complaints about this level is that sometimes the passages are to small and narrow. I also didnt like the top left and right corners. There is a hole, which I thought was a suckertube or a warp, but it was actually a spring bouncing you back up(hidden FullNRG as well, at first i didnt notice since i had full life. This is considered a small dead end, and could of been fixed by having a suckertube or a warp leading elsewhere. Also, Jazz tends to have a bigger advantage because of the free open areas available for flying across. Thankfully, there are some tiles coming out of the ceiling which prevents jazz from hovering across the hole level left to right or vice versa. There are somne interestingly hidden sucker tubes above the window ledges that shoot you up like a cannon.. I have found a few minor tile errors, but ill ignore those. One thing was on the top right where the toaster ammo+15 on the one wayed ledge, i sometimes found it quite difficult getting out of there, a oneway on top could of done thetrick. Bases were placed ok.
Also, why was this level passworded. I do have the special anti pass program, but you should of included the password in a readme or just not icluded it at all so people can look more closely at your level. Anyways, there was some useless, hidden text, but it was fun to find and read. Also, i was searching for the warp evilmike mentioned, and it was in position 163,86 :P The warp is almost impossible to find unless you know where it is, and the chance of you turning is highly unlikely, but possible if you know where the warp leads you and are trying this on purpose. My overall statement about this is that its a fun level which reminds me of the jungle, and its good to play if youre bored. Not in my top 10 list, but still fun to play. Ill give it a download reccomendation.
So much for the short review :P
~Blackraptor a.k.a Blacky
Edit: Forgot rating :P. Ill give it a 7.5, seeing its good in most parts, and only has a few bugs. Not as low as EvilMike, not as high as everyone else (which in my opinion overated this)
Ok, lets start.
The first leve is awesome, just in the beginning there were dozens of secrets and mind tingling puzzles. The puzzles rocked, they were simple yet complex, awesome. The tileset use is also cool, and i basically like the level, its interesting and fun to play, great work. Good place to put a save point, good use of eyecandy and stuff. I felt at one point there was a spaz biased(The part where you had to jump and reach the sucker tube) but it was just a secret with coins. Great music, and lots of secrets and puzzles in this level. Ony i think it was a bit to hard, which in a way was good since it made it more challenging. There was one part near the end i think that forced you to wallclimb with RF’s (i coudlnt find any alternative solution and It was in a room with hooks in a room around the top. Thankfully, after dozens of tries I got to the top, but this may lead to problems to people with few RF’s (I had 99, but was left with 42 after my attempts to RF climb) and few experience, but it was still ingenious and truly evil. Oh, and since im to lazy to edit my reivew, ill just mention this here. The part that i mistook for being spaz baised wasnt spaz biased, but actually a secret, sorry for the inconvenience. Boy this level is taking me a long time to beat. God its taking me like 20 lives or something :P Anyways, nice tricks with the falling save point and all that, great level, could even replace the original labrat ones. I think the coin warp should of been a 100 not 50..Nice boss scenario btw.
Bonus level: Has an obvious music choice, and it was great. The funnest bonus level ive ever played actually, greatjob here mike!
Deserted Diamondus: Cool eyecandy and tileset use, was a bit crowded at times though. Good music choice, nice spring and pole combinations. Great idea with the water slowly dropping forcing you to hurry up to avoid being killed. Funny text ^^ saying Now this is annoying, good idea and ememy placement and all that, another great level. Great collapsing bridge and trigger crate falling out of the sky idea and all that. The next level setting shouldnt be that though, it should just be an end.
Anyways my review is nearly finished. I just want to congratulate EvilMike and his Alien Chemistry pack for taking up an hour of my time. The 3 levels are all great, and im giving this a big fat 8.7! Nearly a 9, if there were more levels and a story line, it would have been a 9.5. But for now, it stays an 8.7 and one of my absolute favorites.
Ok, since i heard lots of good comments about this, I decided to check it out.
ill start by reviewing the levels in the order they are in WinZip.
Happy Hell CTF: Strange, but interesting music. I liked the backround, dont know why, but it looks cool. Layout sometimes bugged me, but it was good, easy to navigate and roomy. I thought the blue base was more easier to reach, because the red base has all these things around it which distract you, while the blue base is in an open space. This was a normal level overall, deserves an above average mark.
Happy Castle CTF: Feindish level, seen it hosted to death. This was also the level where box(the person) has claimed he has been defeated by Salamander in…Anyways, good music choice, nice eyecandy and layout, except for some pointless dead ends. I like the use of the medivo2 tileset here, looks interesting. I’ve said enough on this, though its a fun level.
Happy Canyon CTF: Despite the eyecandy being confusing here, I loved it. Stripe has used labrat in a whole new way. I just love this level. Some major downfalls that lowered the mark of this was that the crate idea, although strange, made the level look a bit screwy, and there was tons of places waiting for you to get stuck in. The layout somehow offended me(just dont ask), and it had some unfortunate dead ends. The bottom part of the level I despised, didnt look as good and easy to get stuck in. The ammo was sparce as well, and the bases are a tad bit to close. Music was awesome. Ingenious idea, but a so-so level.
Happy Jungle CTF: Good music. The eyecandy and layout was too confusing at times, and the level was a bit small. Not much more to say, but i didnt like this one as much as the rest.
HappySemiconductor CTF: This is also a fiendish level overhosted to death. I couldnt hear the music here for some unknown reason i dont have time to investigate, but it makes the level more fiendish. Layout was ok, some parts i had trouble getting out of (liek the place where the RF powerup is)The tileset use is…..amusing….I dont have much more to say about this level, since a level without music is hard to get “hooked” to. Note: After some extensive research, i found out the sound of my jj2 was somehow automatically turned off…wierd. The music was interesting. I also liked the backround here, and the tileset use.
Happy Desert CTF: Strange music choice,
i also remember this level being hosted a number of times (not as much as castle and semi-conductor though), at the top of the level it feels “empty” since the backround eyecandy appears in the bottom where it may get a little confusing for some people. Im pretty sure you can get a flag bug here ,but im not entirely sure, and im unable to play online and check. I liked the bottom eyecandy, though confusing, it attracted my attention. The layout was confusing at times, but ok. Im not to fond of base placement, but i dont know why.
COMCLUSION STuFF: This isnt the best CTF levels i’ve seen, but i can tell that the people ave made these statements since this is only the 11th upload on j2o. The levels are fine and get hosted frequently (most of them), but they arent as good as I hoped them to be. Still, these are old levels worth a download by you ppl. Well, ill give these an 8.5 (may seem low compared to other ratings, but be glad it wasnt an 8)
Happy CTF!
I dont have much to say about this, since there are so many levels using this set. The music is good, although it is overused, someone should find some new music for this.
The eyecandy is good, but then again it usually is for a level made bythis set. The tileset use is…..new. I havent seen it like this in other levels, great work. Pickup placmeent is creative as well. There are coins, food and ammo all placed in different ways. The splash in one certain place is a bit off (the splash appears higher than the actual green watery liquid) Interesting spikes and all that foreground stuff.
Well, it is creative and I will give this a download reccomendation, but i wont rate it as high as the Marshland of Evil or Zaitox Station 67, this just doesnt strike me as much as it does to most of you. Its still a great effort worth checking out though.
Hmmm…some battle levels by BlurredD. Here goes my long reivew:
SC60feet:
The level name is 60 000 feet under, and im sure once you play it you can tell why.
Gameplay: A bit bumpy, and some springs in certain areas would be nice. Apart from that its tolerable.
Eyecandy: WOOT, i love it. SO creative, it certainly looks like its 60 000 feet under, great work BlurredD.
Placement: Tolerable, dont have much more to say.
Layout: A bit hard to navigate but tolerable.
Tile use: Great work here, very creative and imaginative.
Pickups: A bit sparce for some people, but they are done well.
OVERALL: Great and fun level, with some downfalls, but still fun.
SCdruins:
A.K.A dungeon ruins, uses BlurredD’s own tileset, Castle2. My first comment is on the lightning, even though I despise it, it was made well here and isnt very annoying.
Gameplay: Quite good, not very special or unique, but it lies above average.
Eyecandy: Its basic and good
Tile Placement: Well duh, its his own set, the placement is good.
Pickups: They’re good.
Layout: Yeah, no problems here.
Overall: A fun level to play and adds to the score im giving this pack.
SCecircuit(or something like that):
E-line circuit is its name, and I liked the music choice here, as I did in all of them so far.
Gameplay: Could of added some float ups for easier gameplay, but most people will think of it as average or above.
Eyecandy: The creativity strikes again, the backround looks cool, and good use of the tiles.
Tile placement: Great
Layout: Its ok.
Pickups: Fine…
Overall: A fun level to play, with great music and cool eyecandy.
SCForsaken: Forsaken is its name, and it takes place in an ancient egypt tomb.It also takes place outside a bit, where blurredD added a trig crate to open a wall (great animatiob+trigger use btw)
Gameplay: Except for that dead end withthe toaster powerup (it is a dead end depending on which way you come from) its fine.
Eyecandy: This shocked me, the eyecandy was near perfect. Great eyecandy, i didnt find any bugs, and great tile use.
Tile Use: Amazing what a person can make out of a top quality but hard to use set.
Layout: What I said in gameplay. Its good.
Pickups: A bit to much squares, but its ok.
OVERALL: Another fun level in the pack.
SCgfeed:
Galactic feed, it makes interesting use of the tileset.
Gameplay: A bit confusing at first, but when you get used to it its cool.
Eyecandy: Ingenious, those flashing yellow bricks, and all that eyecandy, another well eyecandied level.
Pickups: Could use a touch of creativity. Other than that its suitable.
Tileuse:Very well done.
Layout: The warps may confuse you, and the size may make it hard to navigate, but its ok.
OVERALL ABOUT PACK: A great and creative pack, some very cool idea’s here, and interesting levels worth that space on your hardrive, it definately deserves a download reccomendation. THe levels are fun and detailed and these levels are definately more than just “alright”.
Pros: Lots of detail, great eyecandy, very creative, great levels.
Cons: Ammo could be better, layout sometimes needs work, but these are minor.
These levels rock and should certainly be downloaded by everyone.
Since Trafton is apparently running a bit late on his review, ill review this.
First, before I start my review let me just mention that the lightning was completely unexpected and scared the hell out of me.
Lets begin:
GAMEPLAY: Its ok. There were some flaws such as the dead end in the bottom right/left corner which could easily have been fixed, I couldnt find any other gameplay bugs that take away from the rating. The level isnt really smooth, but thats mostly because of the many masking bugs medivo2 has. There were lots of springs, but I think the author overdid the hooks and vines a bit. Other than that, I rarely crashed into walls.
EYECANDY: Its basic, except like I said the lightning freaked me out at first, but then I got used to it. Im not a major fan of lightning, so I may be biased on rating lighting. The rain was ok, maybe it should of been in the backround though…Otherthan that, the eyecadny is basic. Nice lighting by the way, it helped prevent the level from being to dark.
LAYOUT: Some parts I think were to open, and some to crowded and hard to navigate. I think that there should of been some layer 3 hidden secrets (I couldnt find any, and I dont think there is any) so the level wont get boring as fast. The warps were good, helped avoid dead ends, but why werent they used in the bottom right or the bottom left? I found a few passages that were a bit to small, and the level wasnt really “smooth”.
TILE PLACEMENT: Yeah, nothing wrong here, just a basic medivo level.
PICKUP PLACEMENT: Twas either average, or a bit above. It was sparce in some areas, and a bit overused in others. I think the carrot could of been placed better, and there should of been more than 2 plus one carrots(The other is found in another big room filled with ammo). The powerups were also to close to each other, and to close to the carrot. On the left there is a passage with the blaster powerup leading to a big room with vines and many ways out where a carrot and seeker powerup is placed. Then, leading from that room there is a passage to the right where the bouncer powerup is located. They are all basically in the same place leading many people to go to that specific area when they are playing. The ammo is placed creatively enough though, and sometimes I think it was a bit overused in places.
OVERALL STATEMENT: The level is fine, but its not that good compared to some other levels of today. A year ago, it would of been thought as good, but now it doesnt seem like that anymore. Also, since i forgot to mention this in my reivew: The level can be spaz biased, some vines are to high. and require a double jump, or an accurate running jump, since some vines are placed to far from each other ranging in height. My final rating is 6.5, and I might give this a download reccomendation, depends on if you like these types of levels or not.
I wonder what this level will be…
Well, it seems that this is the level I landed on. Time for a review.
Well, a coral tileset. I knew someone was going to make one sooner or later. Anyways, the set isnt what I expected, but its cool.
It has tons of eyecandy, fish for foreground, coral for backround etc. The color of the tiles isnt the best, but only sprite colors are used..It has lots of different settings, and violet included black tiles, which are important for underwater tilesets if you want to make some parts of your level look“deep” because ambient lighting doesnt work underwater. There are many features worth seeing here (Corals, the ship, the dopefish etc), and the main thing which forces me to downgrade my mark by some (either than the colors) is that the tileset is as userfriendly as a 5000peice jigsaw puzzle. If you see the tileset in JCS, you’ll see what i mean. IT is very possible to make a good level with this tileset, sadly the level will have to be underwater, unless it’s some kind of strange level or something. Also, the basic tiles are here (suckerz, blocks, hooks, signs, poles, hurt events) There arent many animations, but there are some here, like those green sealiles or whatever they are. My conclusion to the set is that it is fun to use, difficult, but has the elements needed to create a good level, with many different settings. It may take you some time getting used to it though, but if you can get used to sets like Metal Mania, you can get used to this one as well. My final rating is 8.2, and a download reccomended.
Wow, cool music Acid and JSZ Jazz.
The beggining was cool and unexpected, but then i couldeasily tell this was from orbitus. Some parts like the screech i didnt like as much, but the music had a good flow to it, some parts like the one right after the screech was cool. This one is definately one of those good remixes, had tons of good beats, like all those backround effect noises, prevented the music from being one of those silent dull ones etc. A well job indeed, Good job both of you!
