Im sorry, but this was not as great as i first anticipated that it would be.
The music is the logical choice for these types of levels which I reccomend you younger kids out there to play before 6:00 :P. Anywayz, the level itself was very small and got boring quickly, there wasnt that much things in it that stick out. I think a 9 is WAY overrated, and there are much better levels out there (like Marshland of Evil) which have gotten around a 9 and are much more advanced than this. Still, this level is more than average, it has some good eyecandy, not to intense though, and the backround was ok. The ammo placement was ok, i really think you shouldnt underestimate fast fires as if they are just like any ordinary ammo. I think fast fires are the “missing link” beetween guncrates and powerups. Anywayz, gameplay is ok, easy to get top to bottom. Still, nothing too spectacular about this, sorry.
A battle level using agama’s swamp day tileset. Lets do a biased review shall we?
The music was good, although it sounded to melodious for me :P. Although it did fit in with the set. The eyecandy was extremely well done, though it was confusing and strange at times. The ammo placement was lopsided. In other words, it was to bare in some areas, and a bit overused in others. The square shapes were dull and i dont like squares and rectangles (sharp edges) so i will mercilessly lower the rating of this level by 2.0 because of the squares. j/k. But some more pieces of creativity could of been used in the weapon placement. Gameplay is ok, nice layout (although the level felt a bit to small). The choice of powerups was ok, but seekerz are hard to avoid and do two heart damage so i would reccomend more gull nerdgy crrots here instead of +1 carrots. Layers uzed well here etc. etc. Anywayz, my conclusion is that this is a well made battle level fun to play for the hole family. d/l recc.First, the music is from blade’s glacier, not forest tileset, and its one of my favorite musics anyways so i dont mind as much.
First thing that I noticed was that i hated the backround, it could of been better in black. Also, the ammo is clustered in some places, but its mostly placed adequate. Also, some tiles were poorly used. The layout/gameplay was fun.. Eyecandy was ok in my opinion, and it was occasionally hard to navigate the level, which was similar to a maze, though it was fun running around everywhere looking for new passages.
OVERALL: This is a good level, ive seen much better, but its worth the download. Fun to play and fun to navigate, it is better than I thought.
Edit: Taz, you might want to check blade’s site and download blades battle pack SE. Then we will see who is right. Oh, and im a major fan of blade, so i have all his sets =P
Edit: Forest1 isnt passworded Taz, so open it and see the music for yourself. If its passworded then haxor ask blade for the pass.
Stupid non working strikethrough txt[This review has been edited by Blackraptor]
Hmmm….lets start out with the bad points.
The tileset looks to cartoonish and hand drawn, doesnt look very “real” like ET’s, Agama’s or Disguise’s sets. (There are others who make “real looking” sets, but im not going to list you all). Also, the color is a bit screwed when you play. (Jazz is red and the ammo color has turned strange) Some tiles also dont look to good. The good points: The tileset has some very nice christmas and hannukah like tiles. Some of it is drawn very well and gives you a warm welcoming feeling :). It has the needed tiles to make a good level. It also has presents and snowmen and all those holiday things. There are many things im leaving out, but my overall point is that it has good and nice looking tiles which make it above average. It has the needed blocks which boost up the rating. The color is kinda weird which lowers the rating. Its also too cartoonish looking to get higher than a 9, and some tiles are unimportant. But other than that, its still a great tileset and a good addition to any tileset collector’s folder. The level is ok, to short and easy. There couldof been a bigger variety of enemies. The eyecandy, its fine but to confusing at times. I couldnt tell what was solid and what was backround eyecandy which made me get hurt by a skeleton by charging at what i thought was a wall. Anywayz, not enough ammo and food, cut back on the gemz ok plz thnx. Also, level sometimes to bare and had no real point to it. (What where all the coins for, may I ask?)
Other than that, its better than some, worse than others though. Download reccomendation?Maybe, depends on what type of jj2 person you are….
Hmmmmm…..I like most SP levels, as long as they are beatable. This one is, ill rate it using my new SP rating method.
STORY: There is no story, but then again, this is just one level. Still, it would ove been nice to have a story…
FLOW: The layout is basic, the level has a logical path. Not the best it could of been, but above average.
PICKUPS: A little on the underused side, it would of been nice to have more food and ammo. Gems, they were ok, but more ammo.
ENEMIES: Sometimes abit overused, but the level is beatable without cheats, so thats good.
BAD POINTS: Well, other than having to few ammo, the bonus warp which i so blindly entered, has no exit, just a vine above a pit of spikes. Therefore, if you go in the warp, you cant get out :/. That wasnt such a good idea, you should of made one way out, it would of been better for the way out to be secret instead of not there at all…Some lack of placement in SOME areas, also some parts which i BELEIVE to be Spaz biased, im not entirely sure though. No wait, they were perfectly unbiased, sorry for the misunderstanding.
GOOD POINTS: Excellent tileset use, not the best but still good. Good enemy flow, having you start out fighting about 3 basic enemies, and then move on by adding another enemy, then another etc. Some well placed secrets there as well. The level also loops back to itself. Nice and difficult puzzles. Im sure there are more good points, but im to lazy to list them all.
MUSIC: Fits the level, nice melody, good choice.
OVERALL: Sure, its a good and long (and annoyingg at times) Single player level which is a good addition to anyones jj2 folder. Anywayz, i cant really rate this, because my rating would be a 7.5 and that would damage the levels overall rating to much, and the level IS a good one, sadly to say it isnt a levelpack, thats why if I would of rated, it wouldnt have been as high….
On second thought…….Ill give this an 8 because of all the puzzles etc.
Hmm….Well done
The eyecandy can sometimes be strange but is well done and deserves an 8.5 or so. Good job for that.
The gameplay is smooth, but to small and too much dead ends. About an 8. i also LOVE that ramp idea, it rocks!
The ammo placement is not so good. Just feels like its missing out on a lot of things. 7.5
Music: Was ok, not to good. 7.5
OVERALL: Very spiffy and smooth indeed. Some backfires, but they were small. Deserves a welcoming download reccomendation.
Night Sky 5.5
To many ripped tiles etc. also i didnt like some tiles much, they looked kind of ugly. But there were tiles which looked good and upped the mark a bit.
Blue mania 6.5
Twas some good tiles like the buildings, but sometiles which were ripped (I think) and soem which didnt fit in the level at all.
OVERALL: Some ok tilesets, i dont think ill be using them much, but they’re ok. Im not sure if they are worth a download reccomendation though….
Castle level: 4
To much enemies which i had to cheat to get rid off. I also found eyecnady and tile bugs by the dozens. The layout wasnt that good either. Nuff said
Diamondus: 5
The eyecandy was WAY confusing at times, took all the fun out of it when the bees where attacking me, but i was behind some loathesome eyecandy and couldnt see where the bees were therefore almost got killed. To much enemies here as well, and to little ammo and food etc, not really fun to play as well. There were WAYto much bees, took the fun out of playing this level.
Inferno: 6
Had basic eyecandy, i didnt like where i starte this from. There were to mant enemies again, the food might of been a tad bit overused this time.
Tubelectric: 5
OMG WHAT KIND OF A BAKCROUND!?!?!?!!?#! I didnt liek the eyecnady much.
OVERALL: Sorry, but i dont think this gets a 7. The eyecandy is nothing special, the gameplay (on my opinion) is poor because you get hit by enemies every second and the eyecandy just makes it worse. But, there arent many tile bugs (xept in the castle one) and its basically an average pack, nothing special.
Lets start out with Medivo. The tileset, although its an original that epic made, is not as overused as some others like carrotus and castle etc. The level shows one of the more finer ways to use the medivo tileset, although i still think it could of been used a bit better, but still great. When i first started this (I test all levels in SP mode), i got stuck in the celing. Next time, i reccomend you to put some warps up there so when you quickly test this by dragging the icon and putting it on top of jazz2 therefore making jazz2 run the level inSP mode, you wont have to cheat to get out all the time. Next time, can you please do that, put some warps up there in case if you play the level the way i did, and make the warps lead to somewhere in the level. It wont affect internet play or anything, so dont worry. But thats just a reccomendation, and ill get on with my review. The level is a bit small, and i found very few tile bugs. The oneways were used good, i especially liked those clashing columns, they were cool. The bases were ok placed, a bit to close to each other (it takes like 6 sec to get from one base to the other.) 6 sec is my record btw –. Anywayz, there are powerups, each base has one near it, and a good choice of powerups. There is only one carrot in this level (I found only one) and its a full energy which is placed in the middle of the level. I have really no complaint about only one carrot, for the level is so small. Though i do feel the red base is a bit more guarded because of the clashing columns (what i call them, they may be named differently by the author). The weapon placement is still a bit boring, but its an improvment. It could of been more creativly placed, but its good enough for me. Springs are well placed as well. Eyecandy is good, i only managed to find one bug, and the eyecandy is basic and good. I have no idea why the author put the exit sign up there, maybe to signify that it is not a dead end and a way out covered by layer 3? Well, if that is the reason i cannot take any marks off for that, because the author might have feared people will lower their rating thinking its a dead end. There are some very nice eyecandy tricks here and some mini secrets, though there arent any coin warps. My major complaint about this is the size needs to be bigger, but its great for 1vs1 or 2vs2.
OVERALL: A great, but small, Medivo 2 CTF level which is great for 2 vs 2 or 1 vs 1, but i dont think it can handle more than 10 or 12 people. Other than that, i dont see much wrong. Although not an 8, a 7.7 will do. Keep at it, download recc. This will get hosted a few times, in my opinion.
This level uses the overused Carrotus tileset, but i dont mind that, since i have no hatred for Carrotus, and will continue on with the review. The level name, Rockingham II, is creative but doesnt relate to anything i can think of right now. The eyecandy here is basically good, and basic. There are some secrets here, which add to the fun of this level. Im not to fond of the music though, for it sounds like the level is race or somethin’. Although the eyecandy may confuse some people, it is used to hide springs, coins, and much more. The tileset use is good, and creative, like those carrot ladders etc. I found some bugs in the walls, but they didnt affect the rating im giving it much. There have been good vine placememnts etc here so thetileset use was good. The ammo, however, lacked creativity and was placed in boring square-like shapes. I also felt the blaster powerup was to much in the open and could of been placed better. The toaster powerup has been placed great though. There HAS been some creativly placed ammo here, but not enough to give a really high rating for this column. The coins were very well placed though, and i have no disagreement about coin placement. I think that there should of been more Full energy carrots, considering the blaster powerup is in the open and reachable, and that it does 2 heart damage. I felt as the electro-blaster was to close to the carrot, but other than that it was placed well. I have no idea why those poles and exit sign where there to signify that the warp was there, the poles, ok, the exit sign, i have no clue why it was placed there….. I feel that you should of made that gold coin and toaster poweup accesible ONLY by finding the hidden spring, but ill let that one go. I found a few eyecandy errors in the place where the bonus warp leads, and the powerup which you get after collecting 20 coins and going to the warp makes a better reason to include more full energy carrots in this. I thought that those “sparkles” used in the cave walls were VERY creative and added more fun and interest to the level. Although i must say that they were originally used for the thorns to make them look sharp, but this is another creative way of using the so called “sparkles” (at least thats what i call them). The gameplay was good here, a circular level which is good, and well placed springs, although i felt some places needed more springs. A well done Battle level by Merlyn this is.
OVERALL: This is one of the more finer carrotus battle level you’ll see out there. It has strenghts at every point, and weaknesses which are barely noticable. It has fun and interactive gameplay and it makes you look at carrotus for the better. I hope you weill continue making levels like this, Merlyn, for they are creative and fun to play making them show you how well an original tileset made level can turn out to be. I’ll give this a big fat 8 and a download reccomedation!
In my point of view, this tileset is average. Firstly, there is no example level. This doesnt bring down the mark at any point but it would of been nice to have an example level to show how the tileset is used. Next, most of the important stuff needed in a tileset are not here. No destruct blocks, no poles or vines etc, but there are belts, or what LOOKS liek belts, but im not sure. There arent much eyecandy tiles here and the tiles arent very textured. Overall:Not to bad, but not very good. Missing a lot of tiles, but it has some good tiles, although i wouldnt truly reccomend this, sorry.
I will now give a useless, but detailed review on EVERY CTF level in THIS pack.
Cell CTF 1 aka paragoniax beachline or something?
DESIGN/LAYOUT: 4/5
Very nifty, some errors, but had springs placed well and platforms placed well. NOt the best ive seen though
EYECANDY: 3.9/5
I saw some errors along the way, and some poorly placed tiles, but the good eyecandy and detail in the pack made up for that.
AMMO/CARROT PLACEMENT:4/5 Generally ok, some carrots and powerup’s to close to each other, but some powerups placed well, like the bouncy one, and ammo placement had a creative touch to it.
Music: 3.5/5 Was ok, but was sometimes annoying and boring.
OVERALL: Around a 7/10, well done
CelL CTF 2 aka DreamScape
DESIGN/LAYOUT: 4/5
Was very detailed and fun. Some greatly placed platforms and springs, but sometimes i had no clue where i was or where i was going. The warps were very fun though.
EYECANDY:4.2/5 To much of the same color, but was detailed and good. I cant remember any errors, but there might have been some. Im thankful that you used another backround other than the one i loathed.
PLACEMENT OF STUFF: 4.5/5 Some powerups placed well, ammo placed creativly. I found very few carrots, 3, and they were all +1 carrots
MUSIC: 4.8/5 I loved this music, and it went good with the level.
OVERALL: 4.375/5, about a 9.
Cell CTF 3 aka Technical Dreampipes
DESIGN/LAYOUT:3.8/5 Very fun, although i got stuck in some places, interesting.
EYECANDY: 4.2/5 Twas ok, some bugs but very creative. Backround eyecandy was nice as well.
PLACEMENT:4/5 Creative
Music:4.3/5 SOmetimes annoying but calm and suitable for these dreampipe type levels.
OVERALL: 4.075/5
About a 9 as well.
CelL CTF 4 aka 22 hour biscuit
QUICK COMMENT: Using the mezmerize tileset (again) which is now probably overused
DESIGN/LAYOUT: 3.5/5 To confusing at times, but VERY creative. The confusion takes some of the mark away though
EYECANDY: 3.5/5 This is what basically lowered the layout mark, the backround was the one i completely loathe, and it kinda ruined my view so i couldnt see where i was going. The eyecandy, otherwise the backround, was ok.
PLACEMENT: 3.9/5 Was basic, to much useless ammo though.
Music: 4.5/5 Didnt fit as much as it did to the previous mezmerize level, because of the different eyecnady etc. But still ok
ADDITONAL COMMENT: I would rate this level a 6.5, but the secrets and layout make up for it.
OVERALL: 3.85/5 about an 8.5 or an 8
Cell CTF 5 aka Superior Technologys
Firstly its technologies, not technologys :P
DESIGN LAYOUT: 4.5/5 Was very nice and fun, especially the suckerz.
EYECANDY: Was basic and good 3.5/5
PLACEMENT:4/5 I loved the placement, very well done
MUSIC: 4.5/5 Suits the level nicely
OVERALL: 4.125/5, about a 9 or an 8.7
NOTE: Although it seems im rating these levels to high, I would really rate them 1.5 or 2 marks lower if they were uploaded singularly :P
CeLL CTF 6 AKA The plastic pipelines
DESIGN/LAYOUT: Basic, a bit above average 3.5/5
EYECNADY: Above average, no errors i think. 3.4/5
AMMO PLACEMENT:3.5/5 Well done
MUSIC: I didnt hear any???????0/5
OVERALL: 2.6/5, about a 5.6 which is rounded to 5.7 (because of the music, if i would of heared the music, i would of rated much higher
EDIT: Oh, i think there is a seperate music pack why i havent downloaded, that explains it. Plastic Dreams rating will change to a n/a, since i canthear the music
CELL SOMETING AKA ASPHALT WARZONE
Desing: 4/5
Eyecandy: 3.6/5
PLACEMENT: 3.7/5
MUSIC: DOnt have it yet, cant say
Hmm…It seems the music for this was never uploaded???Im going to have to review without thw music column then, unless i coincidentally have the music already.
CeilCTF8 aka claustrophobia(common name)
DESIGN: 3.3/5 Very small, and those electric things confused me somwtime, but there are good parts here
EYECANDY:3/5 Basically average, but no bugs
MUSIC:2.5/5 I have it, yay, wasok and calm suited the level ok
OVERALL: To lazy to check, but around a 6.7 if this was a single upload.
Realm OF darkness
DESIGN: 3.2/5 Basic, but leas to the same area’s to much times. Kinda dull
EYECANDY:4/5 Was good, some nice and not overused foreeground and good backround, nice
PLACEMENT: 3.5/5 I didnt like this as much, but was passable.
MUSIC: 3.4/5 The beginning didnt suit at all, but was ok.
OVERALL: About a 7 or so it it was a single upload.
Mechanism 35
OVERUSED TILESET ALERT OVERUSED TILESET ALERT
Design: Except that one dead end, it was good. 3.5/5
EYECNADY: A bit overused, but its what you would expect from this type of tileset. 3.3/5
PLACMENT: Was good and ok, 3.2/5
MUSIC: 2.5/5 To strange to get a high rating
OVERALL: About a 7.2 if it was a single upload
INSIDE THE GLUEFACTORY: Oh this is an old one, ive had it for a year or so, maybe less. But sadly i dont have the music for it.
DESIGN:4/5 Was good, i liked it
EYECNADY: 4/5 A bit overused, but went good with thelevel
PLACEMENT: 3.5/5 Was ok and good in some parts
If it were a single upload, it rate it 7.2
Factorial Fiasco
Overused tileset again, it is similar to the other Cyberspaz used tileset, and i wont bother rating it, excpet for an overall rating. Id rate this around a 7 if it were a single upload
Island Paradise: Glad to see a level here which DOESNT use a mechanical tileset or a futuristic one
Design: 3.4/5 Basic, but had good points, i couldnt tell whether some Tiki dolls were masked or not.
EYECNADY: Calm and basic, just how i like it. 4/5
MUSIC: Couldnt hear any, didnt have it

Ok, im quite tired now and will continue this review at another time.

A nice and well done tileset by mooblaze
The ground is blue and nice, reminds me of Diamondus though. The slime falls look weird and could of been done better, but they are ok and make the tileset more strange. The backround is grey and dull, doesnt really fit in with the rest of the colorful tiles here. Mountains are good, same with all the basic stuff. Has an exit sign. This is definately one of the stranger tilesets on j20, but that does not take away from the uniqueness and quality this tileset has. Its good for a 2 day tileset and deserves a reccomendation.
Clausto Mania: Nice music, the gameplay was about average, eyecandy was simple, but good and detailed. Placement was to simple. Ok base placment
Blasting Tron Project: Good music, nice layout, some hidden secrets there as well, good eyecandy and tileset use, average placement. Ok base placement
Waste house: So-so music, layout was ok, not the best. Eyecandy good, sometimes a bi overused, but good. Base placement was ok i guess.
Shockwave: Nice music. The layout was fine, excpet i had no idea that one of the “missing tile” area’s were warps. I was near a bouncy powerup when i just “accidentally” jumped in one of them for curiousity. Eyecandy deserves about a 6.7
Finally, Force Draw: Eyecandy to confusing here, so is the layout. Placement was ok, not to good, not to bad. Base placement was good.
OVERALL: Some nice ok CTF levels, some irritations in them, but good eyecandy and secrets. Id rate this a 7, but I do not want to harm the rating of this, so ill leave it N/A. Mez and Dethman tilesets are WAY overused btw.
Yes, well new year is tomorrow for me, today is the 30th in Canada ;P
This level told me something. To make some CTF levels for new year. I got to keep them careful though, anyways
Nice tileset use, it was great. Although i feel the baackround could of been a bit better (i dont know how though) the use was great. The ammo placement was ok, i especially liked some of the powerup placement, ingenius RF powerup placement. The bases placed well. Anyways, this has what a good CTF level is suppose to have, but it is fun to play, which boosted the 6 i was GOING to give it to a 7. I know i might be rating to low, but………….
OVERALL: A fun CTF level to play, i have half a mind to rate this a bit lower, but i didnt because
a)ITS NEW YEAR BE NICE EVERYONE
b) YOu included those parrots, i love parrots! ;P
c)its fun to play
Download reccomendation? Sure, why not, this is a good new year level
Ok, looking at other levels I think i rated to harshly. Happy 7.5 :)[This review has been edited by Blackraptor]
Backround is nice, and so is the layout, except soemtimes it was hard for me to get around, and there is not enough to explore. The ambient lighting used to make the gold grounds sparkle was pure genius, and boosted my rating of this level by a lot. The CTF bases were ok placed, i couldnt have placed them any better here, so they add on to the mark. Ammo choice was annoying, to much of a variety in one place, the game kept changing the ammo for me when i got new ammo so it was annoying and by the time i got the right ammo i was killed. I guess i should use the weapon keys (1-9) more often. Other than that, the ammo placement was good. Eyecandy and gameplay good too, no comment. The only things blocking me from rating this a 9 were the small things like springs placed poorly in some places, and the fastfires were all bunched up in places etc. I have half a mind to rate this 7.7, but i rated an 8 because i play CTF levels in SP when i am rating them, and i usually get stuck t\in the ceiling when i start, and i have to use jjfly and jjnowall all the time and etc, but CelL generously placed the warp there so when i start instead of being stuck i warp to some place in the level. Thanks CelL :)
OVERALL: A good detailed level with tons of good points and only a few barely noticable bad points, and worth a reccomendation to all you out there :)
So this is the infamous one thousandth’s upload (counting deleted ones)
Well, it uses disguise’s fun Darkened Landscape tileset, and a music named _alamages.it or something. The music choice could of been better, but it had some beats in it which made me figure why CelL would choose it to come with the level. The ammo placement is above average. MY complaint is that the fast fires were all bunched up, and you would expect everyone to go to that area to get all of them. They should ofbeen scattered around like the ammo, but thats just my opinion. The text -Did you ever feel you were being watched?-(I spelled it in correct grammar here), made me notice the evil eyes in thebackround, and made me stupidly try to hide behind a wall from them;P The layout is ok, the level is semi-large. The springs are used in a good combination with the one ways. The bases were placed ok, the powerup could of been placed better, but oh well. I really cant decide what to rate this, maybe a 7, 7.2 or 7.5. Ill just leave it N/A, but ill change it once im ready to make my decision.
It was ok.
The ammo placement was spaced out. Two icecubes here, 3 pepperspray there etc. A large variety was used and it had an interesting and strange design. Although i did feel the fastfires were overused. The eyecandy was good, nothing wrong. Vines in the foreground, but only a few, and a nice backround + backround eyecandy. The ground confused me at first, but i got used to it. The layout was good, a bit to small and a lot of jumping, but springs made up for that. I just thought the layout could have more “feel” to it. The spring placement was ok, the blue spring at the bottom left was sometimes not high enough, but it was ok, not to big of a mistake, and it did sometimes bounce me up to the platform, but not always. Well, i dont have much to say about this. Its a fun level with a good music choice, but i feel more effort could of been put into it. Still good though. Oh yeah, the bases looked kinda weird, partly “floating” in midair, which wasnt so good.
IS surprised he hadnt rated this yet
The tileset is cool, i love the backround, even if it isnt textured, those eyes are awesome, especially if you play a level with this set late at night. The tileset has the basic things, and a nice……bloody….ground with tombstones and dripping blood and brown dirt like walls. It has backround layer branches or pipes, whatever they are, and has a lot of stuff. Not the easisest to use, but fairly simple and fun. I reccomend this to all evil people out there, and to Batty Buddy (Halloween), but not to little kids who enjoying being home alone at night while playing computer games. The music was quite breathtaking, and I have one comment about it-Thank god i wasnt listening to this at night :O:O:O.
Thats all,and a download recc.
