Fun level
I have to agree with what Cooba said. this is the laziest attempt you can do. Just by looking at the screenshots you can tell that the hues aren’t correct. I tired using them and they look horrible. Not only that but why is everything in one picture? I would have preferred each one to be in a different file. I give this a 1 because it simply doesn’t work.
I love bloxonius!!!
Thank you very much!
Well a good tileset I must say. I used this once and It was easy to use.
What this is
This is basically a conversion of Bloxonius. this is great as there’s lots of eyecandey and everything is here. Lets go through the list.
Tiles
Wow great! there’s hills, polls, hooks, blocks, toys, signs and even a little lego man! I looked thought his tileset and I have to say, I couldn’t find anything missing. everything from jazz 1 is here, including arrows, signs, animations and a jazz 1 style background and textured background. everything you could ever need to make a good level is here. The only thing that could be added is some flipped tiles. Great job! this is the definition of total conversion!
10/10
Colors
Look great! Love it! Colors are the same from jazz 1 and everything that was added is properly colored. Good job!
10/10
Animations
All the animations are here and they look great! Good job!
10/10
Pallet Events
Only textured background and water works. It’s a shame that the rest don’t work. Oh well.
4/10
Reusability
Well it’s only a conversion and you still are limited to what you can do. Still, this is great and you still have quite a couple of options.
7/10
Masking
Masking is perfect. Everything is simple lines and objects. Great job!
10/10
Final score:51/60
Score: 9.2
Rank: A
DR? Yes. This is a great conversion and I look forward to more of your work!
Nice idea. I haven’t checked the tabs themselves yet, because I don’t feel like playing any JJ2 music right now :p….but in any way, do you think you could tab the next ones with Guitar Pro? That’d make it a lot easier to handle (and more fun to play along), especially with songs that have several distinct layers (as, iirc, I think it is with Tubelec, which was mentioned in your thread).
But anyway, nice idea! Way to go. Therefore, even though I haven’t looked at it myself, I’ll give this a d/l recommendation (y)
…which i can’t, because i didn’t rate :[
Looks interesting, but after all, I don’t play the guitar. I may show these to someone I know who’s playing guitar for a living, I just got to hear how these sound.
Thank you plunk, I’ll look into that when I get around to volume 2… And yeah, that’s why I didn’t tab out the intro to Damned. =P Plus, I think only synth lead plays that intro, not lead guitar, but I’m not positive. In any case I’ll look at it.
Very good work. I was thinking of doing these up myself soon so its great that they are done. I’ve played through them and they seem well done, and they are indeed completely playable and are great to use for learning guitar.
My only comment is on “infero(Dark Groove)”. In the Bridge, there are the 4 mini arpeggio’s. The 4th one goes is shown as 5-7-5-4, but when i play it, it does not sound right. I believe it should be 7-9-7-6.
Besides that it is a great download very much worth getting if your into guitar. i can’t wait for volume 2!
and for Crimiclown: i used the MOD sourse files to try to tab out the intro to Jazz be damned. It turns out its actually 34 notes in under 2 seconds, and the notes go about 10 half steps above the average guitars range.
edit: Yeah the intro to that is a synth lead.
Clever, original and helpful for those learning how to play guitar. I am note sure whether or not to rate this and how to, so I’ll leave it a blank. nice job, though. I didn’t play them from tabs yet (mostly since I always have trouble keeping up with them), but by the looks of it, they’re pretty accurate as well. I can’t give a full check, though, since I can’t read a single note and play everything by ear.
Anyways, props to you, Lark.
Edit to add: I’d like to see the intro riff for Jazz Be Damned added. It’s hard to get it on paper, but it’d be quite helpful.
I liked this. It contains a lot of useful information about things that can be done with JCS. And yes, it includes things that I never knew were possible. Like the weapons launchers [generator on hook spawns seeker turret, etc.]. And the shield bullet spawners. And there’s another glitch my brother discovered: If you freeze a superbot, it will stay frozen for I believe a long period of time!
Anyway, good job, dl rec, and goodnight.
Okay, here is a nice conversion, got most of the tiles, got the signs [yay!], got lots of stuff, let me start a list.
MOST/ALL JJ1 TILES: +
CORRECT COLORS: +
EXTRA TILES: -
USEFULNESS: errrm, + & -
Not much extra stuff in it, which saddens me. But colors are good, the usability is tolerable, hence the undecided vote. It has pretty much all the JJ1 tiles, which can be important. So, I’ll give it an 7.9, but t could use a tad touch up.
Oh, and some of the tiles at the bottom are flipped. The wrong way. :P
Okay, here’s a pretty good conversion! Labratkid [or, should I say Lark?]‘s conversion of Jungrock is pretty muchly completed, with most of the tiles there [I believe Violet pointed a few out], colors are pretty good. There’s not much to find fault with here! I guess I need to find something [well I don’t, but whatev] to talk on about, so here’s something: Snow doesn’t work. this ruins the concept of a battle I once had. But, this doesn’t detract from the overall feel of the battle, and I can feel comfortable giving you a high rating!
EDIT
Oh, and can you do a decent TechNoir next? The current one is in dire need of help.
This was an okay idea. Concept was all right, but excecution was not. You basically just recolored everything, into about 20 [or 30, or 40, or however many you used] different hues, pasted em all together, and sent them in to us. At first glance they look just fine. But, they are truly just ripoffs. I mean, like a bunch of other people said, it’s really not that good quality. So, I will give you a 4.0, with a dubious dl recommendation.
[WARNING IN ADVANCE TO TRAFTON: dubious means “unsure”. Just so you don’t go and remove the rating prematurely. :)]
Good things are:
-Excelent JJ1 animations
-Good pallette
-Nothing missed JJ1 stuffs.
-Moving platforms!
-Lot of JJ2 thibgs:vines,h nad v-poles,JJ2 blocks,3D background,very good.
Bad thing are:
-Not orginal JJ1 Industrius background and this is only that ;)
The final rating of this tileset is:
9.2
I thought this was a really good conversion.
But you have to include the lift tiles for it to move up/down and left and right with animation in all the tile sets, plz.
Also I’ve been level converting and the worm statue acid pools and goblet of fire need to be in the grasslands tileset.
Hope u change the tilesets slightly so they have the extra stuff in them, Plz and thank-you.
And if you have spare time do you reckon you could make the shadowlands tile set (outdoor map).
Those are THE laziest attempts at textured backgrounds I’ve ever witnessed. These, as noticeable on the first sight at the screenshots, are not much more than a hue change of the background texture used in most of JJ2 official tilesets. Lark is justified, though, because this thing is almost exactly 5 years old as I’m writing this. However, this getting a rating of 9 is something I wouldn’t make up on the most hardcore acid trip.
