Well, I’ll have to admit that the Evil Forest was much better, but this is still a good level.
Eyecandy: 4/10 Could’ve been much better, especially in the foreground layers, and some edges.
Enemy placement: 5/10 There were hardly any enemies! When people reviewed the Evil Forest and said there were too many, they didn’t mean to get rid of all most all enemies… The enemies that were there were placed well, though.
Ammo placement: 8/10 Couldn’t have been too much better (or worse) since this is such a small level.
Bugs: 6/10 Well, unless you downloaded Fanden’s level pack, your game will crash. Also, some of the warps are hard to find; some of them you have to guess that one will be there.
Fun: 6/10 Pretty fun to play, actually. The endboss was quite boring because it was a very small rectangular arena.
Total is 5.8, but I can’t do 5.8, so 5.7.
Everything in the above rating I was thinking as I played this level, myself. I thought it was very creative to use most (or maybe all) of the background layers in the castle tileset. I’ve never seen it be done much.
Download? Yes (or you could just wait for somebody to host it :-])
I added .2 points just for the cool background usage. :-p
Pretty good level… the eyecandy is good and all, but only layers 4 and 8 were used. It’s also sort of small, but I liked it.
Download? Yes, if you feel like playing a fun, quick level.
I was going to give it a 10, but something really bugged me. It is put on the screen as an episode to choose, right? Well…. now if I wanna go through all 4 episodes without starting over I can’t because after you beat the last level here it goes to the first…. That’s sort of unfair, but the levels and tilesets are good, the game is just like the real Hocus Pocus =) So I can’t take off too much, so I thought giving this an 8.5 would be fair.
This is really great. I was just making the first version of my Battleships level, and said, “Hey, shouldn’t there be a sprite for this?” Everything I said that about is fixed up. I didn’t see much of a difference in color though… The animations are also longer, and should be more smooth… I will definetely use this tileset in my next version of Battleships =)[This review has been edited by labratkid]
I give this a 5 because you did a good job getting TILES there, but hardly any. I hope to see Violet or Cell make a conversion of this in the future……
Very high quality tileset… It’s just that it’s… small!
Here goes…
GRAPHICS QUALITY: 8
The quality of the graphics is very nice; looks professional! :)
SIZE: 2
It’s too small! For the sprite layer, all you have to work with are a set of red platforms (which could look neat if done proffesionally), some spikes for the platforms, a rope, and four tiles for white platforms. There’s lots of cool background stuff, though.
EXAMPLE LEVEL: 7
A neat CTF level with good lighting made with about 4 different tiles on the sprite layer :)
Well, average those together, I get about 5.67777777777777777777777777. I’m in a good mood so make that 5.7, not 5.5 :)
Download? Yes, it looks very easy to make a good level with!
Good tileset… unlike the other tilesets, this one doesn’t have SUPER detail put into each tile, which makes it look very cool :)
Basically… what Piccolo said.
I say 9/10.
Download?
Yes!!!!!
This tileset IS very small, but it still has just about every tile from the originally level! It’s missing the BIG crashed rocket with fire coming out of it. That’s the only thing missing I can think of, so I give this a 9.2. (I also took off some since it didn’t have any added sign tiles, or block tiles, exit tiles, etc.
Download? Yep!
I played this level on a server yesterday and it was VERY good! Easy navigation and good eyecandy for a custom tileset!
Download? Yep!
(but WHY download CTF / Battle / etc. maps if you just DOWNLOAD them anyway when you play them on a server!??) Just a though =)
Anyway, nice level!
8.7 it is! (I’m not the biggest CTF fan)
Very, very cool! :)
THE PROFFENSIONAL REVIEW…
Eyecandy: 1/10
Monster placement: 2/10
Weapons: 1/10
Overall: 1/10
THE BETTER REVIEW THAT SUMMARIZES IT
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEW!!!!!
A 1/10 (but it says not to rate it).
I can see why; the guy who uploaded it wouldn’t want the bad rating to stay on HIS profile (when it says AVERAGE RATING FOR AUTHOR).
I agree, don’t upload stuff like that to J2O. J2O doesn’t have infinite space, you know :(
This is a very great level pack! It takes up a bundle, but it’s still fun, and I think it’s worth it! It includes a great tileset (with awesome dinosaur tiles! =]).
Download? If you have lots of space on your computer… YES!
If you don’t… YES!
=)
Very nice tileset! My only complaint is the lack of surfaces that can actually be “flexively” built with (in this case, the grass). If this tileset had more surfaces… a 10/10 =)
Download? YES!
9.7 / 10
Wow! This is really fun! All though there are only enemies that you fight at the end, it’s still very fun. It’s more of a ‘story’ than a pack, but you can tell a lot of effort was put into this.
Download? YES!
I’m only taking off 0.3 points because of the lack of monsters.
And the .gif that comes with it is kewl, too =)
Yay! Marbella! Finally!
I got this one from JazzJackrabbit.com… it very good, and obviously one of the best levels made (since JazzJackrabbit.com only took a few of the best levels).
I have a Super Mario tileset, and I think it’s this one… I got it from J2C. I’ve never made a level with it, so I don’t know the masking problemo…
Ya know, I was gonna do the same thing! I’ve been praying like ALL day for peace and all… hope we don’t break out into WORLD WAR III!!! Oh well, we can incinerate Afghanistan with BOTH hands tied behind our backs!
