It’s much better than the 1st version, but it still needs some work. The sand and fire still need work, but most of the other tiles look fine now. I would say it’s worth a download.
The level here isn’t bad or anything. It has decent everything, but it does have poorly made lava in the foreground. This is really more of a 7.5, but I’m being nice and giving it a 7.7 :P
This here is an OK tileset. It has some good tiles in it, but personally I’m not too crazy about it. A lot of the tiles were poorly made like the fire and some of the sand. This tileset needs a lot of work for a higher rating, but it could be worth a download.
I liked a lot o stuff in this level. Like the eye-candy, the layout, and the ammo placement, and the tileset that was used. What I didn’t like were those sucker tube things in layer 3 at the bottom-right of the level; they kinda seemed to have no point. Everything else was good. So just download this whenever you get the chance.
I’m not too fond of this level. The layout isn’t great, the eye-candy isn’t above average, and it has some features that probably shouldn’t be used in battle mode like that trao in between the spikes. I did like the music choice and the background and it does have some nice ideas in it (extra points), but that’s about it.
This is just a basic good level, nothing too special about it. Eye-candy wasn’t too original, and everything else was just average (in an average good level sense). The BG only really looks good in 16-bit, of course. Not the greatest jungle level but good enough to play online (maybe in Battle Server?).
Not a bad level. I liked the layout and design, though I’m not too crazy about some of the eye-candy. It’s just not as good as Rainy Rain Forest. The level uses a sold color for a textured BG, which doesn’t look as good in 8-bit as it does in 16-bit. But I got used to the gray background after a while. I think this is a nice level and is worth your download.
Ok, so I got it to work, and I saw how it works. It’s nice, but annoying, especially when you see that “Test joined/left the game” thing. I see it every 3 seconds at battle server! It’s not that bad though. I would rather not see Test joining the server every once in a while, so I suggest using “ยงยง” so nothing shows up (instead, just a mysterious space pops up in between conversations). Is that a good idea?
Not a bad tileset. I think it falls short of really cool, though. The ground tileset look are the best thing in this tileset. I didn’t like the sucker tubes at all, nor the few tiles that make up this tileset. There is an incredible lack of creativity put into this tileset. It has potential, and I may actually use it one day, but seriously think it needs work. If you ever revise this tileset, make sure you add stuff for the foregound and background and maybe better animation tiles.
On second thought, you did steal images from somewhere else. That’s gonna cost some points, sorry. Next time, try to make more stuff from without copying so much.[This review has been edited by BlurredD]
Cell’s first Treasure level and the 5th Treasure uploaded on J2O. Not bad for a first Treasure level (ever). Good eye-candy and layout. It uses the shooting ammo thing (as Bjarni Cool pointed out) and has nice placement for gems.
I’m not sure if there are enough gems in the level, I didn’t really get to test that yet. About 220 gems would be good for a Treasure level (at least for online play with about 6-8 people). I’m not gonna take off points for that, though.
If you like Treasure levels (which you probably don’t)—on second thought, if you like Cell’s levels, go download this.
*wonders if the 7 review curse will be lifted with this level[This review has been edited by BlurredD]
As far as I know, I like it :P
It uses nice eye-candy (in traditional Shadow style), a good layout, and is kept down to a smaller size which can be good for faster gameplay or could require less people to play in it. I wouldn’t agree that all CTF levels should be big; a little variety in size never hurt anyone. Anyway, download this now!
p.s. Ugh, now I have to wait even longer for Future Evolution. It better be worth the wait :P
Not too shabby. But you still should make all of your levels in packs so it saves everyone time. It seems like you make too many levels too quickly and no one wants to download them individually. Make more packs for more reviews (at least 5-6 levels).
P.S. This seems to be like another level you made. Maybe you should take the time to make the levels more complex and original.
Not close to my favorite level by Cell, but it’s not bad. Eye-candy is good (enough), the layout is playable, and the tileset was well used. You should go download this, maybe.
This kinda reminds me of Diamond Doom, minus the eye-candy. Is that all that can be done with the tileset?
checks to make sure Low Detail is off
Needs work. There is too much ammo that’s too close to the ground. Has potential, though…
It’s a decent level with nice eye-candy, but it’s not that great. I think it’s missing something (but I don’t know what), it maybe needs less open space and more ammo with better placement. It might be fun to play once in a while online, though :P
Still can’t d/l this…
It says: “The requested URL was not found on this server”
Dear Mirrow,
The background in 8-bit sux but the tileset is nice. Ditto what everyone else said above.
Sincerely,
BlurredD
P.S. It’s easy to fix that 8-bit thing. Since you didn’t properly make the background colors with a palette editor (or whatever), it came up all messed up. Just download Palette Suite (which is available at my website) and fix up the palette so the BG.
It also mite be the fact that the BG colors were supposed to fade to black and yet they didn’t. This happens since the final colors in the BG color section aren’t used anywhere else in the tileset. Just make one of those one-tile palette things (as seen in Blade’s tilesets) and that should fix your problem. And I hope what I say here makes sense.
O wait, was the BG problem fixed already??
The Edit: I’m saddened by the way my old reviews were formatted. My opinion has somewhat changed since then. Basically, I think the tileset has a good variety of types of tiles and all, but I’m not too fond of the way all of the tiles look. Most of the tiles only consist of a few colors, so they look flat and a bit dull. And I hate the look of those sand tiles entirely; they’re too squared off and don’t really fit in at all. Also, the 8-bit background, after all this time, still needs to be fixed—or refixed since it apparently was fixed at one point. On the contrary, there are some possibly useful features in this set that almost make up for this, such as the invisible vine and a few of the animations. Overall, it’s a tileset that may take some getting used to, but it has a lot of useful tiles in it. It’s worth using at least once. 8.2 is my new rating.[This review has been edited by BlurredD]
These are some nice levels that Blade made. There’s only one problem though: the Heaven’s Treasury level needs to be updated so that it can be more compatible with the updated version of the heaven tileset that Agama made.
Other than that, it’s a d/l recommendation from me :P
I think this is a good level. Everything thing in it is nice, though the eye-candy seems to be a little random and unorganized. It’s like a 7.7, but I’m making the rating a tad bit higher since no one really uses this tileset.[This review has been edited by BlurredD]
To be honest, it’s a lot better than I thought it would be. It has decent eye-candy and it’s easy to play in, but I did see some problems.
The level may be a little too small, it uses swinging vines which won’t work in multi-player, the exit isn’t marked, and I’m not too sure about using food in Treasure levels. Other than that, it’s a good level and you should download it anyway.
