I just played Birdie in a duel today, using the level MULCH. The flow was nice, so was the tileset. The music made a fast pace game. Overall I like it. Even though it’s small, doesn’t necessarily mean it has to get a low score. Good for 1v1 & 2v2 duels. Score, 7.9..rounded to an 8.

He did not finish IC’s unfinished tilesets. The tilesets used by DarkSonic have been finished before they have been released.

PS. You would have also said “set the captures needed to 100”, as it makes it more annoying er… fun…

First, I’d like to know why someone would bother uploading something like this to J2O. I’ll review each mayor point and you’ll know what I mean (but maybe you already knew it because of the reviews before mine):

EYECANDY: Horrible. You used layers 3, 4 and 8 (or should I say “tried to use”). The tile placement is terrible. There aren’t 2 single tiles which fit together. Also, the background in layer 8 is very bad, it’s just a bunch of wall tiles.

GAMEPLAY: Ridiculous. How about this: you start the level, and fall through some wall blocks put on layer 3. Then you run to the right until you see some dissapearing blocks, you fall through them, then there are some more vanishing blocks, then you jump on a boll platform and right to the exit. Also, you can fall off the level in the exit zone. At least I beated Labratkid, I won it in 5:53 seconds using Jazz, with Spaz I made it in 4:75. Yeah, I was honored with the “Tutorial Level for Beginers Master” title.

ENEMY PLACEMENT: This is another good point of this level. The enemies, as well as the eyecandy and gameplay, are challenging and fun and… Oh, I think I have mistaken the review. Well, in this level there are no enemies. As simple as that.

WEAPONS PLACEMENT: Same as enemy placement. No weapon apart from the blaster. Well, in this level this shouldn’t mater, as there are no baddies to shot at…

ITEMS/PICKUPS: Nothing to review here. It seems the author forgot how to put a single carrot in JCS.

OTHERS: There isn’t anything on this level that should impress so much so as to send Leole a private message so that he can explain how he did it. Maybe the only good thing this level has is that it is very very small, little and short, and you don’t have to play this thing for a long time.

BONUSES: Yes, of course… :P

OVERALL: I think this level deserves a 1. Perhaps the author’s intention when creating this was good, I don’t know. Still, as anyone can see, this shouldn’t be on J2O.

DOWNLOAD RECOMMENDATION: Just to see how bad this level is.

What on earth is this level??? I loaded it into JJ2, played for 1 second and then it was over, followed by a missing next level error, of course! You could have used another layer apart from layer 4. No eyecandy, no weapons, no background, no fun. To make things worse, there’s a lizard between the gems. Why should you put baddies on a Treasure Hunt level? That makes no sense.
No really, if this level is a joke, it isn’t funny! But, I’ll listen to Voldard and rate it hi: a big and well-earned… “1”!!!
Please, do yourself a favour and do not download this.

Hey man, this level pack has a many lot of bugs (as you said)! For example, in every level it is possible to fall down and get trapped in the bottom, which makes you cheat or restart to go back. Also, there are some levels which you can’t win (Electopia Sector 2, Falling in the Time…) because you keep falling all the time, or because there ISN’T an end level zone!!! I think you should fix all the bugs (or at least these ones) before uploading your levels. I wouldn’t recommend people download this, because of all the annoying bugs. If you fix them, it can be a better level pack.

Time for my 60th full review! (cues celebrating music)

Story
As always, Mike delivers a great story. since this is the third pack, the pack revolves around the story a lot. I won’t spoil anything, but it is fun and has a cool twist at the end. The story is fun, cool, compelling and overall, it makes you want to keep playing.

Eyecandey
WOW. this is great. Since all the levels take place in space, eyecandey is limited. That didn’t stop mike. The backgrounds are basic but the foreground and layer 4 is great! the space ship levels look really cool and look very close to what I would think a space ship would look like. Layer 3 is also used mainly as chain link and fences. I like the ones where you go into the enemy space ships and you see space zoom by at light speed. the carrotus orbital base is more basic, but it still looks like a base an id still cool. The only level that isn’t space is the simulator. It uses a cool effect of removing the colors of the pallet to make it look like everything is an outline. It’s one of the coolest gimmicks I’ve ever seen! The cutsceens just add to the experience. Overall, great eyecandey!

Gameplay
Once again, top notch. The story levels as I call them, are very basic but a lot of the people in the base have something to say, adding more life. The first real level, the simulator, is really cool. It’s a fun, long level and the puzzles are interesting. It takes some skill. The enemy ship levels look cool, having some of the most innovating puzzles I’ve seen. It uses a complex series of triggers to make switches and interesting barrier puzzles. The first one is really hard as you need to find bouncer ammo and destroy the blasters of the ship. obstacles are great in it and it seems like a death trap at times. The final 2 levels are really cool as well. The pack is about medium difficulty on easy and I like that. the levels are between short and long but they all deliver. overall, great gameplay!

Enemy Placement
One again, great. The enemies are well choicen and there put in good locations, making it so you may die. Some are put in areas that make it hard to pass without getting hit. Enough enemies are present and the placement seems fair.

Pickups
Great. There are enough carrots to let you live and still making it so you may die. Food is good as well, making it so you won’t get constant sugar rushes. the gems add as well to the experience. The ammo is nice a varied and it is moderate which means you won’t have outrages amounts of ammo. Save points are put is good locations as well. overall, great pickup placement.

Not good at all.

Eyecandey:
Horrible. The tileset is carotus by the way. The level looks empty. A lot of the level has tilebugs and a lot of the level consists destruct blocks and end posts. The MCE look good but they make no sense and have no reason to be there. There is only a textured background and no other background objects or foreground objects.

Gameplay:
Bad. There is an airbord part that is almost impossible to do. There’s just to many twists and turns. Plus once you get the airbord, if you don’t break a certain block then your stuck and you have to kill yourself. Also the level is only half done. Don’t upload half finished things!

This is an poor show for it is unfinished.

Its a unfinished undoubtely untested in lees-than-a-day-made test. Its used the tileset carrotus. It has a few SCE`s to add eyecandy. That`s 1 point that i actually DID like… |= (

Now its unfinished and existing out of 1 level witch is very hard. Its got almost no, or has`nt got eyecandy.

Tip for the creator: COMPLETE YOUR LEVELS

Tip for the readers: DO`NT DOWNLOAD THIS, well, YET… download the version that IS complete, tested and eyecandied.

Sorry if this was offensive but,hey!

Learn a bit more about JCS first.

And if this was your 1st level made or something like that, here`s a tip:
Do`nt upload your first levels unless they rule.

Don’t give up one making levels! It takes more than 3 levels to get you name out there. Look at evilmike, his levels were average until he released his Invasion of Deserto pack and now hes one of the best levels makers on jazz2online! Now for the review. My first Race review!

Eyecandey:
The eyecandey is great. The black part made no sense but after that the eyecandey looked great. The trees in the background look amazing. It looks it took along time. There’s a moving textured background and the place really looks like it’s outdoors. Layer 3 was used a lot for tons of shrubage and the holes in the wall look professionally done. Great eyecandey!

Gameplay/obsticle placement
Good. The black area I got stuck on. There was no way to get past from what I saw. I found a trigger crate in the wall using JCS but there’s no way to get to it. Mabey I have to be in MP? Well anyway I used cheats to look around and this is what I saw: There were lots of little obstacles in the black area and during the outside area it was nice. it was a good long race and there were lots of h springs for you if you not careful. There were parts were you had to climb the wall and there were lots of jumps were if you missed it you’d fall behind fast! Still something with an airbord or the switch box. (If they work in MP) So gameplay would be better if there were more verity in obstical placement.

Pickup placement:
Great. There wasn’t that much ammo in the level which is good for a race level I think. There was a verity in ammo and it wasn’t all clumped together. It was nice and scattered. There were no powerups that I could see which is good I think and no carrots. (Are those even needed in a Race level?) Great pickup placement.

Sorry, but this is not a very good test.

EYECANDY

Hardly any eyecandy can be seen in this level. The only background is the Textured BG used in Layer 8. There are also Carrots and some of these have tilebugs. The ground is too flat.

GAMEPLAY

I don’t know if there is really any Gameplay here. All I was doing was jumping over some Carrots avoiding the Warps down below. I get to the end in like 20 seconds and NOTHING happens. Not even a text event to congratulate you. The whole thing is too easy if you use Jazz as he could just copter over everything.

Other than the Warps you have to avoid, there is absolutely no more obstacles in this level.

This is a nice race level. The tileset is very well used, and every tile fits together with the others. A very good point is that the level changes in every lap, so it isn’t about memorizing the layout, it’s about having reflexes and skill to jump over springs. In some parts it can be quite hard, not to say annoying, but overall it’s difficulty is fine. This level is very fun to play. Maybe one bad thing is that it can be confusing on some parts, as you don’t know where to go, and the lightning on the level, which can turn it almost/completely dark.

TILESET USAGE, ORIGINALITY, PLAYABITILY, LEVEL DESIGN, and everything else: +10

AMBIENT LIGHTNING: -0.5

I DON’T LIKE CHEESE: -4 (just kidding, I won’t take off points for this!)

I’d recommend you to download this level. If you like races, this is a MUST.

What the hell is this??? It seems like you were starting a new level, but for any reason you decided to upload it to J2O… I’d like to think it was a mistake. To start with, it is only a small room. The background is very bad placed, the tiles don’t fit together, and there is absolutely NOTHING on the level to do, to jump on, to shot at or to pick up. Next time you upload a level please try at least to finish it before doing so.

PD: You say you used the Beach tileset, but it is indeed Carrotus (very very bad used though)

I wouldn’t say that this hotel would entertain me… for longer than 5 minutes. Further more, the lighting sux (why is it so dark in the rooms, no one would like to live there, since they cant see their room!), but you managed to get some eyecandy in it. All around the place you can find pieces of grass and such. One question, why didnt you use the giant carrots? I think it will make the eyecandy better.
Oh.. Gameplay sux too, btw. Why is it so empty everywhere? Would have filled lots of empty space with more houses and such.. Entertaining stuff. There isn’t alot entertainment, except for the Luck Tube, which you have added with alot of irritating noise. Further more, I can’t get back up to the layer with the shop, once I’ve gone downstairs.
Way to many coins you placed. Had to put my sound bit lower, cause the only sound that came out was “pling”!

As Labratkid said, don’t upload these type of city/hotels (or put more entertainment in it so it’s more interesting). But I disagree with Lab about the hosting. Don’t host this at all.
