lalalalala. I betatested this, played it online a dozen times, yet didnt review it! Here goes a small but probably meaningfull review (or probably not):

Firstly, I loved the eyecandy here. Very original, very pleasant, very fun. Looks like some factory place (as the level’s previous name: Machine Conversion Factory). One thing, though, the bg looks absolutely horrid in 8bit ;o (not that I play in 8bit anyways, though). I also love the layout. Simple and fun. RF=ownage. Placement of stuff was alright, maybe a bit more ammo could be placed. I like how both powerups in the wall are toaster to avoid complicating things. Carrot + Powerup placement is good, except I think I prefered it when the +1 carrots where team based (3 carrots might be a bit too much in this). Flow, Gameplay, Tile placement etc, was all good. The coin idea was also original, except most of the time I felt like Im playing a normal level since the coins are almost always there and all I have to do is run and WarP. Still, ++originality ;o. Base placement is rux, and the turrets on the sides prevent camping so yay =D. I also like the one wayed tiles above the turrets, since all you have to do to get away is jump and run. There is only one exit from the bases, which could lead to people camping above it, but who cares. Your fault for camping in there anyways ;o ;o ;o. I’ll just get to the ratings:
Layout/Gameplay: 8.5
Eyecandy: 8.4 (textured BG in 8bit! >O)
Placement of Stuff: 8
Originality: 8.5
Overall (not an average): 8.2
Final Rating: 8.32 = 8.2. Almost made it to an 8.5 there ;o. Anyways, very spiffy level, one of my favorites by you. Definite download reccomendation and rux work.

Hahahaha, I am so pathetic. I’ve been playing this level for like 2 years almost and I havent even reviewed it. Anyways, here goes:

Layout/Gameplay: I love the layout here, the base placement and stuff is fairly original and the bottom has great flow and strategy to it. I dont like some passages because they are a bit narrow and I crash into the ceiling slopes, but whatever. Warps are also strategic and a lot of multiple routes. OWNAGE.

Eyecandy: Pretty good, a bit plain in some areas but in places like the bottom its really awesome. Nothing too original about it, but Im satisfied with it either way.

Placement of stuff: Decent, powerups are placed alright except the Toaster is way closer to the red base then the seeker is to the blue base. Also, no idea why you put pepper spray here, since it wasnt needed that much, but you could’ve placed more of it here then 3 +3 ammos on each side. Carrot placement is good except the red side has the +1 carrot while the blue side doesnt >|||. Although, strangely, this never bothered me in duels…

Originality: Yeah. Back when it was released, it was pretty original, and hey, people still play it today!

Overall (Not an average): One of my favorite CTF levels, heck, one of my favorite levels. I’ve played this for years and I still love it. Lots of strategy (and camping ;D) involved, I almost love this as much as SBv2. The music is also a good fit, and is hilarious when it speeds up to like 5x the speed when you die at times because of a jj2 glitch. ;D.

RATING TIME >|||:
Layout/Gameplay: 8.7
Eyecandy: 8.2
Placement of Stuff: 8.7
Originality: 8.2
Overall (not an average): 9.4
Final Rating: 8.64 rounded up to an 8.7. This is among the top best CTF levels imo (and the top overhosted ones) so if you don’t have it, you should definately get this. I feel so stupid for not reviewing it beforehand.

GREAT LEVEL! I’m not really a fan of CTF, but i’ve dueled here like a million times. :P HERE IS MY REVIEW: Eyecandy: The eyecandy isn’t magnificent, nor is it bad. The front layers and the sprite got used nicely, no bugs. It isn’t easy to get stuck but you can. The level is half symetrical, in a way, and the middle is really platformy. Gameplay: The gameplay is really good. The bases are next to eachother, but with a wall in between them. There are 3 power-ups, i think. The springs are placed professionally. There are turrets which are pleasing. And there is suckertubes, which i really like. I would rate the gameplay a 9.7 here. Placement: THE PLACEMENT IS EXCELLENT! It is placed very professionally, seeing as when you hit a spring you will get all the pieces of ammo, Which is extremely good. Placement would get a 10 from me

Sorry, but i have to admit, this was quite poorly done compared to some other conversions, but it isnt terrible:

1) Layer usage: the layers cant be used too well, nothing for layers 7,6,5,2,1. And there isnt really a background that you can use! 1/2

2) No example lvl: Well, i really would have liked an example lvl, but there isnt one. that is especially bad because the tileset is quite hard to use, nobody has used it before in a lvl that i have seen! 0/2

3) tiles: well there are very little bugs, and the tiles must be flipped to use the tileset, like for walls. also there arent very many tiles but there are nice animations. and a few added tiles which is good. 1/2

4) Conversion itself: well, it has all the tiles JJ1 uses in the JJ1 lvls, and it has the animations.the added tiles are quite useful (destruct scenery, trigger scenery .ect) but the conversion is how it should be. 2/2

5) Others: i dont really like the way the tileset is made but it is good, and i dont kno how to make tilesets but this isnt much of a great tileset, becoz it is a conversion that is from JJ1 (i luv JJ1) i have to give this rating. 2/2

1+0+1+2+2= 6/10
0.5 for generosity!

I’m not the ASSULT type, so correct me if I am wrong. Anyway, how did you get on.

EYECANDY: Top secret tileset used here. You worked on the eyecandy witch is good, but even better because you worked on it so hard. The eyecandy is exquisite here, and someone actually found a way to use Layar 1.

SIZE: I don’t know if you have the right size, but this is becouse I don’t know a thing about assalts. Anyway there are 6 sectors if you count the DEFENCE SECTOR and the other one. I find Sector 1 harder and bigger than Sector 2, 3 and 4.I’m just going to say that the size for 6 sectors and a ‘Shoot the core area’ is good.

FINAL RATING: 6.5

FINAL COMMENT: I’m just going to give you 6.5, because I don’t really know assalts.

Wow, I didn’t rate this?

Anyways, I’ve played this frequently and it’s about time I rate this. Don’t expect a long, usual review from me, I’ll just make this quick.

Layout is interesting, one base on the top right and the other bottom left. I got around the same times (more or less) going from base to base, so it seems alright. Flow is smooth and good. Eyecandy is just amazingly done. CelL has taken the time to make the blocks in the wall form interesting patterns and look nice and detailed. The backround is also more or less well done. Eyecandy is definately a pro. Bouncer powerup at pos 56,56, RF powerup at 3,6 (next to the full nrg), and a seeker powerup at around 45,30. The seeker can be accessed by EB’s or by an evily hidden warp which took forever to find. RF takes about the same time to reach from each base (so does the full energy), Bouncer is closer to red, seeker is closer to blue, but harder to find. If you’re new at this level, the powerup placement may seem a bit biased. But once you learn it its fine. I found no problems with the ammo, and it was nicely scattered. A small nuisance, 3,49 could’ve had a floatup or higher ramp so I wouldn’t bump into the wall and instead go into the sucker. Speaking of sucker tubes, the ones in this level (although they added a nice effect) weren’t really too useful, and chances are you would only go into them if you knew they were there, since most of them have springs in the way. The suckers could’ve been placed a bit better, but they’re alright. Music is chosen decentely, fits the theme and has a good tune.

Final Rating: Probably 8.5 or around there. Decent level, and keep up the rux work =)))).

Another random level review. Btw, I will use a new review system.
First impressions: This is a level created by CelL of OLC and FoR, and it is one of his many levels.
GAMEPLAY
Layout: This level’s layout is nice. The level has enough space.
Flow: The level’s flow is good. It’s easy to get around, although there is one dead end, and that’s the place of the carrot. Also, no biasing and a good spring placement.
Other gameplay: The other things in the gameplay here are good. The level uses triggers in a good way, has alot of warps, and has more routes to the base. There are also some tubes, and a few one way and float ups. The level is not too big, though, but it doesn’t matter, it’s just the level itself.
EYE CANDY/TILESET USE
Tileset use: The tileset was used nice, I liked it alot.
Backgrounds: The backgrounds in the level were how they need to be. Just good.
Other eye candy: There was alot of other eye candy here. There were alot of dark tiles or something, colourful things in red, blue, black and yellow. There were also some moving chains, and some more.
PICKUP PLACEMENT
Ammo: The ammo placement was very nice. Not too many and good choices.
Power-ups: 3 power-ups here, there was a seeker, bouncy and rf. The seeker pu placed in a warp, but you can also get it with gun9. The bouncy pu was placed near the bottom of the level. The rf pu placed left from the carrot.
Carrots: 1 full energy in this level, placed in a small dead end, you can go to that place 2 ways. One way is using the red spring. There is one way there and are there if you take it. Second way is using a warp at the left side of that area.
Other pickup placement: No, no other pickups here.
ORIGINALITY
Music: I liked the level’s music, I didn’t know it, and it also fits the level.
Tileset used: The tileset used isn’t overused, so that’s a good point.
Other original: The level has many warps, there aren’t many levels with that many warps like this level.
Others: This was my new review system. I don’t rate fun factor anymore, I don’t like to do that.
Host this: Yes, an underhosted level.
Download: Yes.
My final rating is a nice 8.5.

Hello! I decided to start reviewing!
This battle pack is really good. There were some things I didn’t like, but they weren’t too important.

PIPE DREAMS:
A good level using Agama’s Sirius tileset. The level uses the tileset really well, and the level has a tunnel-like appearance which makes it hard to use RF-missiles too well. Some people would consider that a bad point, but I don’t. Rating: 9

EVIL CHEMISTRY:
A level using the official labrat tileset. Is it just me, or is this tileset boring? Well, anyway, this was a quite good level but not as good as the others. It had a bit confusing eye-candy. Rating: 8.5

RADIOACTIVE WARFARE:
This level wasn’t my favourite, I thought it was cind of weird, but gameplay was good and that’s the thing that matters. Rating: 8.7

SCRAP METAL:
The level was good and the idea with the waterfalls was good too. The mountains in the foreground made a good add-on to the eyecandy. I didn’t understand the triggers, though. Rating:9

TUBULAR VORTEX:
I didn’t play this level really, I just stood there and stared on the eyecandy. Must be the best tubelectric level I’ve seen. Rating: 9.2

TOXIC METAL:
Somehow, this level felt very dark and weird. I don’t know what gave me that feeling. But there was enough space to move around and no disturbing places, so the level is still very good.

OVERALL:
This is not an average rating.
One of the best battle packs ever if not the best. Even those who never battle shoud download this, even if only to stare on the eyecandy. RATING:9

Level rating: 8.2

8.2

Ok, here comes another fun review.
First impressions: One Silver Penny, one of CelL’s many great levels.

Gameplay: Good/Very Good. Well, I can say this is a nice gameplay, but could be better, though. I will explain. First, there is a nice spring placement. Second, there are one ways in some places. Third, there is a copter in the level which makes the level Lori-unfriendly. But who cares, it’s mostly a 1.23 level and not hosted alot too. Fourth, there are some warps in some places. Fifth, the layout and flow are nice. Sixth, there are some tubes in some places. Seventh, there are some float ups too. And eighth, the level is not too big, but that doesnt matter much.
Conclusion: Nice gameplay, but not perfect.

Eye Candy/Tileset use: Very Good. Yes, this is again a very nice eye candy in a level by CelL. There is very nice eye candy in layer 4(sprite layer). There is a nice background. The tileset use is very good, too. There is a foreground, and that are trees. There is also something in layer 3, and it looks nice too. Even layer 5 had something, I saw too.
Conclusion eye candy: Very nice.

Pickup placement: Good/Very Good And here it is, the evil part of the level. I will explain why. First off, there is a very good ammo placement. Second is, there is one silver coin(penny) that’s why the name is One Silver Penny. There are 2 Power-Ups. One Seeker PU in the middle, with a Toaster PU at the right side. The Toaster PU is probably closer to the Red Base, but I dunno if it’s really true. Why is there a Silver Coin here? Well, there is a bonus of one coin and when you inserted the coin, you will be at the Full Energy. That’s quite evil, but it’s original. The other evil is, there is not another carrot in the level.
Conclusion: Nice placement.

Originality: Good/Very Good. Like I said, the idea to put a full energy in a warp where you need a coin for is very original. The music used is bonus2.j2b, and that music isn’t used alot for diamondus. Most times people that use a diamondus tileset always put Diamond.j2b as music. But I am glad to see that this time it isn’t the default music.
Conclusion: An original level.
Others:
Host this: Occasionally.
Download: Sure.
My final rating is an 8.2.

Level rating: 8.4

Ok, I will start this review.
First Impressions: One of CelL’s many levels. This one is one of my favourite CTF levels.
Gameplay: Good/Very Good. The gameplay here is very nice, but not perfect or very good. There is a nice spring placement, and there are one ways on some places. The layout is very good, and flow is also nice. There are some vines too, which make the gameplay even better. Some one way at the left side would be better, and that’s probably why it’s not very good. Also, some springs could be placed one tile more left or right. But, after all, very nice gameplay.

Eye Candy: Very Good. This definitely r0x. I haven’t seen this good eye candy with this tileset yet, and I have no complaints about it. There is exactly the right amount of eye candy in this level.

Pickup placement: Good/Very Good. This is also nice, but I think some bigger groups of ammo would be nice. But, the PU placement is how it must be. At the right side, there is some fast fire, but instead of that there is RF ammo and a PU more to the left. The ammo at the top is placed from left to right in this order: RF PU with Gun8 ammo- 6×3 Seeker ammo- Full energy- 6 bouncer×3 ammo- 4×3 gun8 ammo- Gun8 PU-4 Fast Fire. Also, there is a Seeker PU at the bottom-centre.

Originality: Good/Very Good. This is very original, the music is nice and I never heard it before. The layout is original, The level size is also original I think.

Others: Host this: Yes.
Download: Yes.
Overall an 8.4-8.5.

This CTF level is, in my opinion, a gem. While it is rather small, and would suit no more than 10 players, I have found it incredibly fun to play, even on just splitscreen.
There is a fun little twist; coins are needed to get to the bases. Just two coins, but if there are a lot of players, this could be a challenge.
The eye candy in this level is not breathtaking, but it uses the tileset in ways I would never have imagined.
The weapon placement is good, and it’s a well-done level in general. I give it a thumbs up, although I can’t stand the music.

Non-Late CTF Level Review Number 01: Another Kind Of CTF

(Don’t worry. I’m not actually going to keep this format, so quit complaining.)

GAMEPLAY:

This level pretty much has a good layout. Basically everything on the left side is the same on the right side, which means balance isn’t an issue. And there’s good flow, as usual. However, there is a twist. Like how One Silver Penny required a coin to access the carrot, this level requires two coins to access each base. This level can be extremely evil, and in a good way, if players use the right tactics. I likey. The only thing I dislike about this level is it’s small size, but it’s at least big enough for some 2on2s and whatnot.

EYE CANDY:

Think Astroid City (5th level in my SP pack) except just a little more innovative. Aside from the fact that the BG looks horrible in 8-bit and I’m forced to play without the Textured Background option (as CelL said himself I had to do), it’s pretty good eye candy. I have nothing else to mention here.

CARROT AND AMMO PLACEMENT:

In the middle there’s a full energy carrot and a +1 carrot on the bottom left and bottom right; I can’t say I dislike this. While I could complain about the two toaster powerups, it’s not really a problem here. For one thing, a little extra effort is needed to get each of them since a few EBs are needed. Also, players can only get 20 max additional ammo from each powerup. So I have to say, powerup placement is good. Ammo throughout the level is also well placed.

HOST THIS OFTEN?

Somewhat often. It’s good, but a little small. This is an 8.

PS: A few bigger levels (4on4 sized, maybe) would be nice every now and then.

Eyecandy – Okay / good
Not much here. Not the normal CelL quality you’d expect. The ground looks nice. While Blade wanted us to us simple ground blocks, CelL used complex combinations of different blocks, much like you would use in Death Metal, etc. The background is a nice, scrolling, starry background, telling us it’s on a spaceship, which is why it’s not all that good. There are some little generator like things that move up and down which looks cool. There are also some other little bits and peices around, like pipes.
Gameplay – Good / very good
While the gameplay is fun and interesting, the flow isn’t all that good. But, levels with good flow only make them easier, after all. “Floating Town,” has so much focused into the flow, you rarely need to jump. Other levels, like, “BloodBunny’s Lair,” require you to jump more, thus making them more Spaz biased then others. The flow here is okay. Not much is focused on flow, in other words. It’s done in a way where you still don’t have to jump enough to make it Spaz biased. After all, CelL uses Jazz.
Ammo placement – Very good
The sexiest and best ammo placement since Distopia. Unique, nicely placed, and balanced. It’d be nice if there were bouncers, though. The ammo placement reminds me of in, “Security Breach,” by BlurredD. There are also coins that you need to get into the bases. CelL says they are for, “Another level of annoyence.” He spelled annoyance wrong, OMB!
Overall: Good / very good
Good overall level. A bit small… about the size of, “Bleached Diamondus.” It can be too small in some cases, and just right in others. Not the type of thing you’d host in JDC because it can’t handle too many people. More than 8 people in the server would probably be way too much. Ideal for duels and 2v2’s. The coin system may make duels a little frusturating, but it gives you all the more reason to base camp not die when you have the flag.
Download: Yes.
Host this often: Sometimes, but it’s not something I would host every day.

PS: The background reminds me of, “You Can’t Scream in Outer Space.”[This review has been edited by labratkid]
