Absolutely stunning, those are the first words that come in mind playing with this level. The eyecandy blast in your face. Blade proves once again that he knows what he is doing. Even after 10 years of absence he still has the tileset tricks. I’m so happy that this came out. We gonna see a new breed of amazing levels with stunning visuals.

What I also like is that Blade provides a small tutorial on how to use this set and how to work with it. This is not only great for the skilled and experienced level designer but also for the newbie this is good.

And ofcourse as an extra bonus from a good tile builder, he gives us a 2nd variation that I even like more :-)

The level it self is good and hard. You might give up on it a bit to quick, even on easy mode. I didn’t like the claustrophobic mazes, it felt a bit hard to navigate as Jazz Jackrabbit but eventually I got through it.

It doesn’t matter what FireSworD spits out, it’s always a magical moment for me. He makes everything I look for in a map and never dissapoints me, he always goes out for making a good and functional level. The scripting is also fab but that’s a shout out to the coders. Sorry for the shortness, Maybe a more indeep review later.

Deleted my previous review, by god this is one amazing tileset. After 14 years it still upholds everything you love in a pretty tileset. It is actually better then NickStadlers tilesets.

Old ShadowGPW to young ShadowGPW, who cares that you have to use layer 5 to improve eyecandy and gameplay. The tileset is just amazing.

There are some minor bugs and annoyances, but a smart editor can make something beautiful out of it.

In other words, a fantastic tileset. Well done.

Jelly Jam’s ODT entry!

First of all Jelly Jam, don’t be to harsh on yourself! I get what you are trying to do with this level. You need to climb towers by jumping on springs boosting yourself up. Trying to have a vertical gameplay instead of the 10.000 horizontal based levels.

Level has for duels/2on2’s enough power ups, enough carrots, plenty of ammo to go around. The gameplay feels fast and has some what of a nice flow to it. Seekers will be a complete pain in the bunny butt during some intensive battles.

But there are 2 major flaws in the design. It’s the 2 huge dead ends. You cannot escape it on any way, if you accidentally end up in 1 of the 2 deadends you will be completely rekt. If you look at the design you hoped that Jelly Jam would have made a small tunnel from the left side to the right side. This would have solved the issue and brings a little more dynamic to the level.

Eyecandy isn’t important since it’s made for ODT, however.. ugh, it barely has any. It is blunt and boring. Absolutely no use of layers.

Anyway, keep on JCSing, you have some original ideas in mind and if you put a bit more attention for detail in a level and try to experiment with eyecandy.. I think you can come pretty far. Please do not be dis-encouraged with building levels!

First glimpse of this tileset is, colorful and happy. You can clearly see that some parts are hand drawn. Some tiles been borrowed from Nick Stadler’s tilesets but most are original made. I really like the countless of bunnies and that some are even animated!

This tileset is screaming for a single player level.. perhaps for an episode that is story heavy. I mean, there are so many bunnies, you can use them for small dialogs, which is perfect for story telling. The tileset can be used for multiplayer things like.. hotel levels, remember them 90’s and early 00’s Jazz Jackrabbit players?

What this tileset lacks is a proper use of layer 1 and 2. zapS, went the easy way by using rain for the first layers, which is sad..it limits the possibility for some nifty eyecandy.

I do honestly believe that zapS does have some love and put some passion in the tileset. You can make some decent levels out of it, but don’t expect to much out of it.

I wouldn’t download this and build any level out of it. Pretty much impossible to build a level with this, it is way to simple.

As a JDC entry I’m going to judge it as a ODT. As since this level follows what JDC wants.

The level is short, fast and tricky, it keeps the flow inside. The carrots forces you to think about your actions and calculate what your enemy is going to do. Total map control is absolutely needed in order to win at this map. Well done.

Camping is minimalistic, there are a few tiny spots but you can easly counter that if you just think a bit.

The eyecandy is a bit blant and very dull, but as the tournament admins said. Don’t pay to much attention to it. So i’m not really looking at it, it is functional atleast.

Music choice is purely optional and personal. Won’t remove any points because of this. However I wouldn’t use this track for this tileset/level. It doesn’t feel right.

What I absolutely dislike is the chopper area, this will effect the flow to much. I feel cornered in a dead end as a Jazz player. It should be a help, not a necessary gimmic.

Anyway thumbs up, you are absolutely in the run of being the winner in my eyes.

Yikes, this map is unplayable. Don’t get me wrong, I encourage the use of JCF and people uploading maps but be honest here, would YOU enjoy playing this in a 2 on 2 CTF map?

I noticed you’ve used some single player events (so you can start it up in SP), but shouldn’t you focus on a balaced CTF map instead of trying to make it SP with some CTF elements.

Anyway, i’ve seen worse maps being uploaded in the years that have been past. But I cannot recommend this map to anyone that wants to play CTF.

This level is the first time in my life that i’ve encountered scripting. This is absolutely amazing, I love what you have done with the weapons and how it behaves. In my opinion this feels much more fair then the traditional hearths system as we know and love from vanilla Jazz.

The eyecandy is flatout simple and doesn’t realy stand out in any way, this however has more to do with the limited tileset then with the creator. The level design is fine for the script the level uses. It makes the level so much more fun.

I absolutely recommend downloading this level and give it a spin. It is so much fun.

Note to author, please make more levels with this script. I just adore it!

My favorite JJ2 tune is Labrat. As since mine is build via the labrat tileset, I actually used Used it for my level Pipe Down. So I would say keep it up with these remixes and make more of those. I love them really! :)

Idea is stolen but man it’s a good battle build. Heck it’s even fun to play it all that small. I just don’t know it just feels good. Eyecandy has been good adjusted to the smaller things and couldn’t really find some errors in it. WD WM

Jackass, bolt and ShadowXR
Just to be clear we still have rules (press view rules) but to make it easy i just copied and paste it

“The following things are forbidden at J2O, persistently breaking the rules may result in banishment from the site:
1. Rating one’s own levels.
2. Rating levels obviously unfair(give a level with an average rating of 2, a 10, or one with an average rating of 10, a 2, or something like that. (try not to rate your own friend’s levels in a biased way)
3. Using multiple accounts to influence the rating

When trying to review, try to be fair. Don’t rate too high. Don’t rate too low. Rate objectively. Rate the level on all aspects.”

I’m bringing everyone down or lower the rating if its unacceptable. no matther from who.
Also user B0lt (B0lt EL and BlackEnergy) isn’t even allowed to review sinds he has 6 warnings, 2 accounts mis-used but to be honest I didn’t wanna be a pain for them so i didn’t lower his status.
User ShadowXR (Originally ShadowJOL) Has also a low account so offically he cant review/rate/post a level, but agian didn’t want to spoil it but perhaps we should have done that.

User Jackass, he is your friend and has never reviewed anything else, Accept yours.

Perhaps the last one was Questionable and perhaps a mistake to delete his comments. But his rating would be how ever not be fair compared to the other more experianced reviewers and raters[This review has been edited by ShadowGPW]
