I probably suck, but I just don’t like it.

The lead samples are extremely high-pitched, it kills my ears, really. Lead also doesn’t fit into the rest of the tune. Funky beat is really nice, I like it, background is okay. Bass is okay in most parts. Thing I love about this are transitions; beat ends, long lead, bass changes. I also like the break patterns with that cool funky sound :). Time by time, it sounds pretty off key, and when there are parts when the tune sounds like nothing more than loudness…

Anyway, it’s really above-average mix and I do recommend download.

I don’t like it so much. It’s too slow, time by time a bit offtuned, it sounds emptily as hell. The rhythm doesn’t fit here in these samples. All “original” ideas are from Eggman’s tunes. I just didn’t enjoy.

Mini review.

Your best work, without any discussion. The problem is that this looks really like Eggman’s work, you should profile. The song structure is weird, when it looks as it grades, all beats are cut off… The song sounds also a bit empty. It has something little more than two minutes, it’s not much.

But nice melody modification, cool beats, okay sample use. Keep practicing, you’ll be great, then.

Well, time for little review (that credit is for testing). which I promised.

The level is simple, semi-boardy, semi-symmetric, small – medium sized, really easy to learn (even to master, btw), with nice ‘main’ idea (the tubes). It’s especially good for duels, and time-by-time, some 2v2s.

The level contains one only full carrot, in the middle. Cool place for camping ;(. It also contains three classic power-ups, seeker, bouncer, flame. On pretty good positions, I have to admit.

Ammo placement… Well. I don’t like it. All ammo is as easily accessible as possible, it’s all on the ground. Which doesn’t add a lot of action. The second thing is that there’s lot of ammo and I think you’ll never suffer by NA syndrome ;)

The ground ammo placement also helps to whole level emptiness, the eyecandy is… Pretty simple ;). I can’t help but most of the level is really, really empty and it’s not good. Bad, I should say.

Flow, after some major upgrades is okay, I could say very good. No bigger problems.

(+) Simple, easy to learn level
(+) Flow
(+) Nice tube idea
(-) Ammo placement
(-) Emptiness
(-) THAT campy place

Final verdict? Download it, yeah. Don’t expect something ultra extra professional, don’t expect JJ2WC quality, expect just nice level which gives you fews hours of okay fun ;)

At beginning of the review I would ask… WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED WITH YOU, AEGIS???

It’s somewhat like resample, but but but… Poor resample. With one new, ungood pattern. The tune is 39 seconds long, but almost all patterns are used twice. Bass sample sucks my balls, it sounds like some uh-oh electric flute, but apparentely, it has to be bass-guitar. Lead sample could be okay, if it wasn’t used in way how it actually is (20 tones per second is way too much). Rhythm is too monotous for “metal” one.

Aegis Aegis. Don’t smoke weed when tracking. It doesn’t make tune better.

I’ll be critic today. At least it seems so.

As first point I should mention that the song is really (I mean really) good for a first try but… People mostly don’t listen to the song because it’s authors first one… I’ll review it as normal tune, don’t hate me for it ;(.

It begins with original voice from Orbitus, after one pattern and half there are added some hi-hats, then they stop (which I really don’t like) and new drumloop comes. Original lead sample, new drumloops, lead sample change, drumloops (there is drumloop change which sounds really ugly, from moreless dnb (in bad sound quality) it changes to dance, just suddenly without anything)… But… in all those three minutes no melody change (except from the pattern breaks also from original Orbitus)!

Then comes Orbitus’s second theme, it’s played till end, with same tactic, changing instruments and loops.

The song itself is mainly about the drumloops, nothing much is changed at all… Except that loop change I mentioned, it everything sounds nice

My biggest complaints go to the structure of the song, cymbals are almost randomly distributed into the patterns, sometimes it’s louder, sometimes it’s pretty quiet… It sounds very chaotically. The song also needs too big time to buildup, 2:56 (from 5:22) repeating of of six seconds long background melody is way TOO much.

Rating: 3 + 1 (first try bonus)

Keep practising, you are really talented. It’s really fantastic for first try, just train and I promise I’ll give you better rating next time. ;p

Really, couple times better than normally. Firstly, it’s pretty original, second thing is that you managed to minimize the offkeyness almost as much as possible.

Style of the song is very strange, it’s some slow electro, but it sounds good.
New industrial electro melodies, modified original ones, main melody of the original as nice background… I have some reservations to bassline, it itself (even without anything) sounds weird… Like… Offkey ;)
The tune uses nice rhythm combined with disorted, hard drumloop, it perfectly fits to the song, but actually there should be bigger work with drumloop, the tempo isn’t fully adjusted so it’s not right-on-beat (but it almost can’t be heard).
Main power of the song is that it uses number of awesome effects, which gives song the right grades and thanks to effects, song quickly and… effectively ;) transits between its parts.
Imho, tune sounds empty at some places, some string could probably help.

I like this song, although I have few reservations. Originality and cool effects combined with ungood bassline and empty sound, that’s… Great deal! :D

The quickest review ever.

It’s typically high quality level, what else can you expect from Blacky.

Again. First thing you notice is abstract, simple, hillarious eyecandy. That rocks and I just don’t know where Blacky gets the ideas.

It’s one of the faster races, there is not many of hard obstructions. Also, you can memorize whole level in like second, third round of the game. It’s short race. The level itself is not much original, for that we have good gameplay reliance. As always, Blacky built in like milion of details.

Music is absolutely great, normally I never listen to level music, but this one rocks. It extremely fits to the level and it makes everything even more abstract. Grandious.

That’s all. Next time, be more original, make it longer and… You could make the best race ever. Download recommendation, you’ll like it. For sure.

Well. From beginning, you should know this is not remake, concept of the level has nothing to do with concept of Battle1, no main idea, nothing. Just few copied details, which could contain really any level. It won a remake contest maybe unfairly, but the thruth is that this is one of the best CTF levels ever.

First Impression
Ladies and gentlemen, wow. The level uses BlurredD’s very night version of Castle tileset and I wonder what is, and always has been possible to do with it. But you need to Blacky. The abstract work with anything how Blacky does it, it’s awesome.
Eyecandy is in one word fantastic. The main part of the eyecandy is fruit, probably. The contrast between extremely dark, black level and those bright limes and lemons works greatly. The main color combination is awesome, I think all levels before just had to be as colorful as possible… Eyecandy is completed by ammo, by just two or three pieces of seekers or fastfires in the area, so it doesn’t have any bigger functional meaning. Just Blacky’s system of eyecandy. Cool.

The… Level itself
Two bases at two ends of the levels, weird, isn’t it? The level is, as we are habituated in Blacky’s levels, symmetric, but today it’s like 10 times more symmetric than anytime. Not the eyecandy (the occasional ammo is mainly the eyecandy, as I said), but all gameplay stuff. Warps to bouncer power-ups at both two bottom corners of the level, seeker power in the middle of whole level, RF above seeker in the wall.
There are three totally different ways how to get to the base (in one you are using vines, in second copter, in third warp), which makes the games a bit more interesting ;)… It’s much bigger fun etc. There are also shorcuts to the bases, but… Skill needed ;p
Flow… Well, it’s probably the main reason why I didn’t give 10 to this level. Although the level is symmetric, you will need to train here long time for knowing the terrain perfectly. There are things like six-tiles wide hole near the base. It looks like you can just run, but if you’ll do so, you will fall down and you may lose a point just because of this. You’ll often jump to the walls, which you will not like ;p. But if you’ll learn the level and you will use springs in way you have to and jump where you should, you’ll love the flow. It’s just made for experts in the level, that’s that.
Ammo placement. Sometime it’s placed in spring holes, as it was in battle1, there are also two gun barrels, which will not cause lag, in my honest opinion, because they will not be used much ;p. There are also gun crates, here it will be worse.
Balance of the level. Horizontal balance is total, absolute, etc. Vertical balance – well, the main powerup of this level, RF one is placed at the top, same with bases, +1 carrots and bouncer PUs, but the players are mostly in the bottom, more open and “airful” part of the level. I am a bit scared they will camp near to full energy carrot and seeker PU, which are placed really, really near to each other. And mainly, for going from one part to other, you need to go thru carrot or seeker. That’s not well, really.
It’s impossible to play this level with Jazz, Spaz biasing is way too big. Music choice rocks, unfortunately I use WinAmp. Few Battle1 places like +1 carrots or ammo tubes (which were near bouncer PU) looks nicely ;p

Let’s duel… Or do you want 4v4?
I tried duel couple times and the level and it works, although it’s really big. Duels are possible, but expect longer games than normally. It’s fun to play 2v2s here, 3v3 games are okay also. It’s the big plus of the level, you can play it in number of players that you want.
There is milion of other things, cool details in gameplay, which I haven’t mentioned just because I don’t have infinity of time.

Go download it. Now. But don’t call it a remake. Okay?

(it contains some bugs but I am going to tell Blacky about them as soon as he will be online, so I am not counting with them in the final rating and I, as you could notice, I haven’t mentioned them in the review ;p)

i’ll do some three-sentence review…

Same things as I wrote to your Battle1 remake (except for better placed blaster power-up and less tileset bugs).

Still, it’s only retilesed, they are just some little changes such as power-ups in Battle2, nothing special. But we have winter versions of our original battle levels… Not much more, nothing less. If you like original, you’ll probably like this ;p.

Mini tune – mini review.

The tune is about 1:15 long, mp3 format. The metal remix sounds really accoustic. 3 instruments used – drumset, lead, bass. I have no reservations to drums, lead guitar is okay, also. The bass is a bit louder than it should be, it’s also too simple.

Tune contains basic Chrysilis melodies, author didn’t care of song arrangement, as we can see. There are some mistakes in lead and even in bassline. I like the original ending.

(+) Ending
(+) Accoustic
(+) Drums
(-) Bassline
(-) Mistakes
(-) TOO short

If it was longer, and if it had better preparation, it could be nice tune. Also, make bigger band :D. Go download it, it’s interesting, anyway.

Well, some really short review.

Firstly, this level is unplayable without any editing, there is a crate with about thousand ammo. That causes lag.
EDIT: Thanks for removing it officialy a lot, it can be hosted now.

I like the main idea, the schema. Relatively small level, for 2-4 players, two towers with flags, relatively close to each other with ample underground. But in the result, the level is very unbalanced. Mainly because of empty underground. It’s nonsense to go to lot of (empty, really empty) places there (which should be, in normal level, the most important). Ammo and carrot placement is, with a bit of irony, great. Two carrots and only power-up in the level can be accessed only by warp needing uncolectable 20 coins.

Flow of the level is ungood also. You need to have undestroyable jump key and strong nerves. And I don’t like dead ends.

Quickly to eyecandy: It uses layer 3 sometimes, layers 6 and 7 are used for rain. It is really simple, no masterpiece ;p. The level has some eyecandy bugs sometimes.

(+) Nice schema of the level
(+) Simple eyecandy
(-) Flow
(-) Ammo placement
(-) Really unbalanced

Interesting level, which SHOULD be redone a bit. Add flow, remove bug, balance it, remove the dead end in the main room in the level and… Everything should be O.K. But not now. Fully.

And bye, Jelly, it was always great time with you… And thanks for all those reviews XD

EDIT: R3p, I thought vertical balance. Underground, that’s the place where we should collect everything. It’s… empty… And, JelZe has removed that bug. Nice eyecandy review, though.
