Also, try checking out JCS Ref
This is an OK tileset.
EYECANDY: This tileset uses the graphics from the excellent Jill of the Jungle DOS game. It looks like the proper game but there isn’t a very good background to use in Layer 8. 7/10
LAYOUT: There are quite a lot of empty spaces in this set. Even though that is all of the Tiles from JOTJ, you could have used the spaces for a background. 6/10
MASKING: The tiles have been masked correctly. Automask was not used. Background tiles have not been masked which is good. 9/10
EASE OF USE: The tiles can be animated just like in the game. The set is easy to use. 8/10
TOTAL: 30/40 (7.5)

Right, I will be as positive as I can in this review as negativity is NOT allowed.
This level needs A LOT of work.
EYECANDY: Not good. Backgrounds look really bad. Most of the tiles are just randomly thrown together. This looks like it was made in less than 5 minutes. 1/10
GAMEPLAY: You start off by going in the water and then you turn into a Frog for about 10 seconds (what’s the point?). The only thing to do then in this level is get to an exit that is underwater in what looks like a badly drawn nose. 1/10
TILESET USE: Very badly used. You used about 7 tiles out of the WHOLE set. The background was badly made, you can see lines on it. 1/10
ENEMIES: There was a lot but most of them were in that “Prize Walkway” as n00b puts it. Badly placed. A Caterpillar under water?! What the…? 1/10
OBSTACLES: There was warps blocking off the so called “Prize Walkway.” There are about 4 or 5 warps that will warp you back to the beginning but that’s not enough. 1/10
PICKUPS: Hundreds of useless weapons can be found in this level. There are LOTS of 1UPs in the level which are NOT needed. The placement of the items is bad. 1/10
LAYER USE: Only Layers 3, 4 & 8 were used. Layer 3 was barely used to put in the stairs and one hidden passage to some useless Seeker ammo. Layer 4 contains lots of unecessary events including Sucker Tubes. Layer 8 is NOT good, the background was very badly put in. 1/10
DIFFICULTY: It was too easy, not enough enemies or obstacles. 1/10
TOTAL: 8/80 (1.0)
How do you do ratings under 1.0? I thought that was impossible. I typed it in the textbox and it said invalid. Looks like ratings under 1 have been removed.
Moving on.
DOWNLOAD RECOMMENDATION?
No.
ADVICE: You cannot make a good level this quickly. You need to use more tiles. Try to vary what you use out of the Tileset. Using the same tiles will make the level repetitive. Also, try to make the level longer, you don’t need to use the default 256×64 size. Change this by going into “Layer Properties.”
Can’t download it :(
RapidShare sucks. I type in the CORRECT code, yet it still says I typed it in wrong. May I suggest a different site?
How about www.megaupload.com or www.savefile.com?
Anything BUT RapidShare.
@Danyjel: No Problem. :)
I like the music. But, I dunno how to review music. It can’t be used in JCS as it’s MP3 format.
Why has this tileset not had any ratings? I really like this tileset!
EYECANDY: 3 Tilesets are included in this pack and each one is the same but they come in 3 different colours, so these 3 tilesets could be used for a certain time of day: Morning, afternoon & night. I like the animated Robot tiles, they are really cool. It looks like a Factory. 9/10
LAYOUT: The set appears small but there are lots of tiles that can be used. There are very few blank spaces, so most of the Tileset space has been used. 10/10
MASKING: Automask has been used but that’s not much of a problem. Tiles have been masked correctly. Actually, I don’t find background masking as much of a problem because the buidings in the background could also be used in Layer 4 for the character to walk on. 10/10
EXAMPLE LEVEL: When you start the level you see lots of moving Robots in the background. I really liked this level. I am amazed at how much can be done in a level with a tileset this small. This will not be counted in the Rating.
EASE OF USE: This tileset is easy to use. Lots of the tiles can be animated. Some of the tiles can be used as conveyor belts with Belt Left/Right events. 9/10

GRADE: A
Not bad.
EYECANDY: There’s not much in the way of eyecandy in this level. Not that many tiles are used. The background is the same most of the time. 6/10
GAMEPLAY: The level was a bit short. You had to get to the end of the level before the timer ran out. Could have been made a bit harder but it was OK. 6/10
OBSTACLES: Some Buttstomp scenery and lots of fire. Could have been more obstacles. 6/10
PICKUPS: 2 gem rings at the beginning but there wasn’t anything else. 6/10
TOTAL: 24/40 (6.0)
BONUSSES:
The timer is really cool. +0.2
FINAL TOTAL = 6.2
GRADE: D
DR: N/A (7 needed for Yes)
This is not bad for your first level but I think some more obstacles and enemies would be needed.
Not good.
EYECANDY: There are lots of NES tilesets on J2O. However all 3 of these are bad. When you use any of these Tilesets in a level the character will look ugly and the score counter and text events become unreadable. The graphics are OK but these errors ruin it. 3/10
LAYOUT: The Mario tilesets have lots of blank spaces. The Zelda tileset has a lot of the Sprites from Zelda 1 & 2 but not all of them. The Zelda 1 Dungeon graphics are not there. 3/10
MASK: The masking is OK but the Mario 3D design looks bad. Zelda design is OK but the character turns out ugly. 4/10
EASE OF USE: The Zelda tileset would be way too hard to use. The 3D Mario Tileset would also be difficult to use. Some of the tiles can be animated but not all of them like in Zelda & Mario. 4/10
TOTAL: 14/40 = 3.5
I thought I’d try a grading system.
GRADE: U
GRADING SYSTEM:
S = 10.0
A = 9.0 – 9.9
B = 8.0 – 8.9
C = 7.0 – 7.9
D = 6.0 – 6.9
E = 5.0 – 5.9
F = 4.0 – 4.9
U = 3.9 or lower
If no one likes the grading system, then tell me.
OK, I’ll give it a shot.
NOTE: This is the first time I have EVER reviewed a Tileset so my review may suck. I dunno much about reviewing Tilesets so I may need help.
EYECANDY: This tileset uses the NES Metroid style graphics. Unfortunately it makes the Character look rather ugly. The text and score counter becomes unreadable when used in a level. Most of the Tiles look really bad and jagged. 1/10
LAYOUT: There are lots of blank spaces which could have been filled in. 3/10
TOTAL: 4/20 (2.0)
DR: No
I have JUST finished this and I got one word to say about this: FRUSTRATING!
STORY: N/A
EYECANDY: The pouring lava effects in the background are really cool but it’s hard to enjoy the Eyecandy when you’re focused on 4 VERY FAST moving springs. 7/10
GAMEPLAY: Interesting concept but it was very frustrating. The springs move VERY fast and you can’t stop for anything. I had to load about 10 times before I finished. 7/10
EVENTS: I loved the way the Belt Right/Left events are used to move the springs and the spikeballs. 9/10
DIFFICULTY: Probably the HARDEST level I have ever played, though it was frustrating. 9/10
PICKUPS: There’s some gems and Weapons along the way but you can’t stop to pick them ALL up. Very well placed. 9/10
ENEMIES: The enemies were a bit annoying especially when some of them were on the end of platforms and there was some annoying floating Dragons. 7/10
OBSTACLES: There was some destruct scenery which made it that much harder! 8/10

4 CASTLES OF DARKNESS REVIEW:
EYECANDY: Bad. This is just a bunch of Tiles randomly thrown together. 1/10
GAMEPLAY: Hardly any. 4 very short levels. All the levels were EXACTLY the same, just different enemies and Bosses in each of them. Just kill enemies and beat a Boss in each of the levels. 1/10
PICKUPS: No food. Too many gems, there was about 50 Purple gems in each level. 20 Coins at the very beginning which can be used to access a very poorly placed Bonus Area containing LOTS of ammo. 1/10
STORY: N/A
ENEMIES: Very few. Just a Boss. Nothing more to say about this. 1/10
OBSTACLES: Not many. There was some destruct scenery but that’s just about it. No Trigger Crates or anything like that. 1/10
DIFFICULTY: Far too easy. 1/10
TOTAL: 6/60 (1.0)
Sorry, I know the rating is low but the level pack is just not good. I’m afraid I can’t recommend this. So no DR. Check out HowToJCS or JCSRef for help on using JCS. Find these in the Links section. I used to suck at JCS. But thanks to these sites I got better at using it.
OK, I finished it. So here’s the review.
A GENERIC SINGLE PLAYER LEVEL REVIEW:
EYECANDY: Tileset is from a fantastic game called Xargon. Backgrounds and foregrounds look like they would in Xargon. The lighting effects are cool. I love the use of the “Flicker Light” events. 10/10
GAMEPLAY: There are just 2 levels but these levels are HUGE and LONG. First one took me about an hour to finish. 10/10
PICKUPS: There’s not that much food but it was used for decoration to look like the food from the Xargon game. There was lots of coins in the levels. Finding them all would take you to a Bonus Area and they were hard to find. Not too many 1UPs and they are very well placed. 10/10
ENEMIES: There was a bit too many placed everywhere. Especially, in annoying places such as on end of cliffs. 8/10
OBSTACLES: There was 4 Trigger Crates to find in the first level and they were very well hidden. The doors opened EXACTLY like they did in Xargon. But there was a bug with 3 of the doors in the first level. When I was in that area with the trees and went into the warp, the first 3 doors didn’t seem to open. There was a problem with the Trigger Zone. But all the others opened correctly. 9/10
DIFFICULTY: I was playing this on easy and I still found it REALLY HARD. So that’s good. 9/10
MUSIC: Even though there wasn’t Xargon music, the music used here went very well with the levels. 9/10
TOTAL: 65/70 (9.2857142857142857142857142857143)
Rounded to 9.2 since scores like that are impossible. I would have done a 9.3 if I could.

It’s a bit better, but I thought the prize in the pinball was kinda rubbish.
I also noticed that Homemade is now called “Custom/Concept.”
@Eva: Oh OK. Sorry, I didn’t know you did that. A nice try at making a level though. :)
OK, I’ll rate it then.
NEED FOR BOWSER 3 REVIEW:
STORY: Bowser is hiding and Jazz/Spaz/Lori has been sent to destroy Bilsy. A good story. 8/10
EYECANDY: It looks like the classic Mario on the NES. I like the Mario Tileset. Background may not be much but is like the sky you see in classic Mario. I liked the falling fireballs in 1-6. I liked the idea of the blocks with a countdown on them. They disappear when the number reaches 0. 8/10
GAMEPLAY: You can collect coins to access Bonus Areas by paying the Koopa a certain amount. It plays just like Mario. 8/10
MUSIC: I really liked the Mario music remixes but the music on 1-2 was kinda annoying as it looped every 30-40 seconds. 8/10
PICKUPS: There was extra weapons that could be picked up by going in the Bonus Areas. I’m not sure about the re-generating ammo though. There was TNT that could be collected in the first bonus area. It was kinda pointless though as I didn’t use the TNT at all. 7.5/10
OBSTACLES/ENEMIES: I did think that there was WAY too many Bees in 1-2. They did get very annoying. Also, in the Airboard level, I thought there was way too many enemies. I kept on having 1 Heart health most of the time, but after shooting those enemies I kept getting Carrots. I didn’t really see that many obstacles in this pack. Only obstacle I saw was the Trigger Crates in 1-5. 7/10
TOTAL: 46.5/60 (7.75)
Rounded to 7.7
DOWNLOAD RECOMMENDATION: YES!
Mario fans will like this pack.
This was good for your first level.
EASTER FEASTA REVIEW:
EYECANDY: The Eyecandy was OK but there wasn’t much in the background or foreground. 6/10
GAMEPLAY: It was quite short. Finished it in about 5 minutes. It was quite confusing trying to find where I needed to go. 6/10
PICKUPS: There was lots of 1UPs in the Bonus Warp. The number of 1UPs have been reduced now, so I will increase the pickups score by 1. There’s not too many Gems which is good. There was some food. The pickups were placed quite well. 8/10
OBSTACLES/ENEMIES: Not too many or too less enemies. They were placed well. There was a Trigger Zone (TZ) used where the Trigger Crate was. I saw a message saying to use the crate if you don’t have TSF. You can do TZs in 1.23 as well. Just download the JCS.ini update from here: http://www.jazz2online.com/J2Ov2/downloads/info.php?levelID=105

This review probably isn’t good enough but I don’t feel like writing a huge review at the moment.
Well, it’s looking good so far. I can’t review the level yet as I haven’t finished it. JJ2 crashed on me for no reason.
How many levels are there gonna be in the pack? Is it just gonna use JJ2 Tilesets?
About the re-spawning Lizards, surely it should work. I’ve seen it happen before. Have you tried putting a generator on the Floating Lizard?
There is a really annoying bug somewhere in the level. When the character shoots, I see no bullets come out. Why is this?
EDIT: I have just tested the Floating Lizard with generator on in JCS. IT WORKS! The Lizard respawns along with the Copter too.
How do I mask the Foreground Tiles?
Also, why hasn’t anyone rated my Super Jazz Brothers 3 pack?
EDIT: Oh, ok thanks. So don’t just mask the passage but also the tiles AROUND the passage.
@Donda97: Here’s how to make j2b files.
1. Download Mod2j2b from here: http://www.dutchfurs.com/~haze/blog/files.php?cat=files&dir=files/pc/utils
2. Put it in the folder where you installed Jazz 2 (Probably C:/Games/Jazz2.) TSF or 1.23 will work.
3. In the Start Menu click “Run,” browse to where mod2j2b is and open it.
4. Type in the filename of the music you want to convert. Type like this: “C:/Games/Jazz2/modj2b.exe” insertfilenamehere.it
5. It will work on XM, S3M, IT and 669 formats. Won’t work on MP3, WAV, WMA or anything else.
6. The file should be converted to j2b now. It will be the same filename but with a .j2b extension.
Any news on TR2 yet? I went on the site and it said last updated 2004.
I have decided to have a go at reviewing this level. I’m not gonna review all the levels one by one because that’s gonna take HOURS. So here goes.
TOMB RABBIT REVIEW:
This has got to one of the BEST, no… THE BEST level pack I have ever played on JJ2!
STORY: Jazz/Spaz/Lori have entered a Tomb to search for an Artifact called the Croaking Gem (I think it’s called that.) A VERY ORIGINAL story. This is just like what would happen in Tomb Raider. This is not one of those ‘stop Devan from doing evil stuff’ packs. 10/10
EYECANDY: What can I say? The eyecandy is just MAGNIFICENT! The backgrounds and foregrounds look FANTASTIC! The tileset is used really well. I could find NO BUGS in the Tileset or in any of the foregrounds and backgrounds. 10/10
GAMEPLAY: 18 REALLY LONG AND HARD levels can be found in this pack. It plays just like the Tomb Raider games. First level took me 40 MINUTES to finish. There are LOTS of HARD puzzles to do in this pack. Listing them all here would take ages. My favourite one was the Maze in one of the levels. It took me about 1-2 HOURS to finally complete the Maze. The whole pack took me nearly a WHOLE DAY to finish! This is difficult even on Easy! 10/10
PICKUPS: Pickups are placed really well in this pack. 1UPs and Carrots are very well hidden. It’s just like finding Secrets in Tomb Raider. 10/10
ENEMIES/OBSTACLES: The enemies are placed very well. There are not too many or too less. There are lots of obstacles to get through in this pack. It took AGES for me to get through ALL of them. 10/10
MUSIC: The music used in this pack goes well with ALL the levels. I love it. 10/10
TOTAL = 60/60 (10.0)
DOWNLOAD RECOMMENDATION?
Darn right I recommend this! Download this IMMEDIATELY! Whether you’re a fan of Tomb Raider or not, you MUST download this now!
SUMMARY: An excellent level pack which plays just like the Tomb Raider games. Also uses excellent Tilesets.
BTW, this is my first ever 10 rating for a level pack.
Can’t wait for TR2!!
WOW! OMG, 9000 downloads now!! Could this be the first pack to reach the 10,000 mark?
Not good. Needs a LOT more work.
JOL SCHOOL REVIEW:
EYECANDY: Poor. Black background and a very few beds and other things you would find in a Hotel. Very few tiles were also used. 3/10
FUN FACTOR: There’s not much to do here. There’s 2 Tests but they don’t do anything special after you pass them. 2/10
PICKUPS: There’s some Power-Ups and some ammo in the level. There’s also some food in the Restaurant. They were placed quite well. 5/10
TOTAL: 10/30 (3.33#) # = RECURRING
BONUSSES/SUBTRACTIONS:
No bonusses.
Battleships music does not go very well in a Hotel level. -0.10
FINAL TOTAL = 3.23

No.
HOST?
Yes, in Battle but there are better Hotels available on J2O.
I really enjoyed this Episode, but I wasn’t able to tell which was the starting level.
WINTER CELEBRATION REVIEW:
STORY: Jazz/Spaz/Lori journey to each of the Planets that were in HH 94 & 95.
EYECANDY: Backgrounds look great, eyecandy has now improved in the first 2 levels. I love the snow effects used in the Christmas levels. The moving Chocolate Bars in the background was superb. How can I do something like that? Tilesets are also used very well. 10/10
GAMEPLAY: There are special warps that take the player to different puzzles where they can find the last 5 or so coins. Superb idea! The levels are long, about 20 minutes each. Dunno what else to say for Gameplay. A secret level can now be found in the first Holidaius level. 10/10
PICKUPS: Very well placed. Not too many or too less. Not too many 1UPs or Shields are placed in these levels which is good as too many 1UPs or Shields would make it easy. Power-Ups are found in Bonus Areas rather than out in the open. There is a shield in the 2nd Bloxonius level but it’s only used to get pass the Dragons. 10/10
ENEMIES/OBSTACLES: Enemies are very well placed. Not too many or too less. There are some obstacles in each of the levels. Trigger Crates need to be found in order to progress through the rest of the level. There is a Schwartzenguard Boss in the last level which can only be accessed by blowing up the TNT Blocks. 10/10
TOTAL = 40/40 (10.0)
DOWNLOAD RECOMMENDATION = YES!
SUMMARY: An excellent Christmas level pack which uses the Bloxonius and HH94 & 95 tilesets.
EDIT: For those who don’t know, the starting level is “Holidaius1.j2l” without the quotes.
EDIT2: I replayed the pack again today and I enjoyed it so much, so I decided to increase the score.
This was a good idea but your level could have used LOTS more Eyecandy and music. I have decided to do a level like this but it will be harder. There will be Puzzles in it. There will also be more Eyecandy. Tileset I am using is “Top Secret ]|[.”
The level will be called “Froggy or Birdie.” If anyone can come up with a better name then PM me.
