This is a useless upload. All it is, is every single JJ2 boss shoved into one level. Anyone can do this. Also, you only need to defeat one boss to win. Do not bother downloading this.

8.5?!!? Talk about OVERRATED! This level looks like it was made in about a minute. This has got to be the worst use of the JJ1 Diamondus tileset I have ever seen. There are tilebugs and empty spaces absolutely EVERYWHERE! There was nothing in this level that I would’ve considered calling gameplay. All I was doing was running right most of the time until I finally hit the exit sign.

I can’t believe this was rated so highly. I cannot “award” this any higher than a 1.0 and I cannot recommend this for download either.

Ummm… LOL @ featured review!

It’s been a while since I last played a single player level in JJ2, so I decided to give this one a go and I’m impressed.

EYECANDY

The tileset is a perfect fit for the intended theme the author is aiming for. The yellow toxic snowflakes is a nice touch and all the rooms look very nice. The music also fits nicely.

GAMEPLAY

The level is split up into several rectangular rooms connected to one another via small tunnels or sucker tubes. The player will have to explore several of these rooms more than once in order to progress. The objective here is to navigate the different rooms and the tunnels that branch off some of the areas to find Trigger Crates to open the next section and to also raise or lower the water level in order to access the crates that were inaccessible the first time. The level also makes excellent use of the Morph Box. There will be some scenery that you cannot destroy with the current character. Jazz will be used for breaking the blocks that are above the player and Spaz or Lori are used to side kick the blocks that Jazz cannot break himself.
Goodies are nicely placed and are not excessive. There is enough food to provide the player with one Sugar Rush. There are also Coins to be found in order to access a Bonus Warp.
Power-ups can be found in secret areas but these are not required.

OVERALL OPINION

This level is very fun to play and will probably take about 10-15 minutes on a first playthrough. There are some very creative uses of Morph Boxes and controlling the water level in order to complete the many puzzles in the level. I really enjoyed this level and my overall rating is 8.5.
If the author releases the other levels that make up this pack I’ll be sure to play them and update the review.

I agree with TreyLina. All this is, is just one LONG BORING race through SEVERAL one tile high, 993 tile wide gaps over 100 times! It’s not infinite but it takes FOREVER to complete. No, I did not run through the whole level. I JJFLY’d through the whole thing. Why anyone would ever want to race in a level like this is beyond me.

If you have played in a JDC event then you will surely recognise this classic. Even though it was made 4 years ago it is still very popular today. The really cool feature in the level is scoring for the other team if you fall into the lava pit with the flag. This level is always fun to play on CTF and Death CTF.

This has got to be the best tileset of 2009 and possibly of all time. The theme is very original. Tileset is easy to use and there’s lots of tiles to be creative with. Three different palettes are included; Inferno, Toxic & Winter.

To even call this JJ4 is just an insult. Eyecandy is very bad. No background in Layer 8 causes that distortion effect making the level look ugly.
Tilebugs are everywhere and there are only a few enemies. I finished the whole pack in less than a minute since levels are too short.

What?

EYECANDY

There is absolutely nothing in this level that can even be classified as eyecandy. The background looks disgusting and the entire level looks very rushed. On looking at the tileset it appears to have been edited and given the most disgusting palette I have ever seen.
You have used the same brick tile multiple times and not put any thought into how the ground looks. The only other tiles I see that have been used are the text signs, arrows and the lettered tiles. In all you have only used about 20 tiles out of the 1020+ tiles (thanks minmay) that are available in this, albeit disgusting, tileset.

0/10 That’s right I give zeros.

GAMEPLAY

Gameplay (if you can call it that) consists of bouncing of a Spring, capturing the flag, run back and do the same thing and then return to your base. That’s it.

0/10

PICKUPS & WEAPON PLACEMENT

Pickups, weapons, power-ups and Carrots are non-existent so another category that gets a zero. :(

TOTAL SCORE = 0/30
OVERALL SCORE = 0
But since scores under 1 are impossible to give it’ll have to be a 1.0

Err… no. Please spend far more time on your levels. You need to vary the tiles that you use and you MUST put weapons and items in the level.

This a decent level using a Windows XP tileset. I like the way it’s presented in a window though it can be hard to see where you are going. The virus error was funny, the first time I saw it I REALLY thought there was a virus on my PC.
The level was short but it was nice to play. I like the scenery tiles.

WOW! I just love this level so much! The eyecandy has got to be the most creative I’ve ever seen. The layout is fantastic and is easy to navigate. There are a good variety of weapons to use and there are 3 PUs which aren’t too hard to get. This was made in just over 3 hours which is impressive!
The music choice is good too.

Just… don’t.

REVIEW

Only 2 of the levels were actually made by the author. The first being the level where you can select to either face the original bosses or the “bonus” bosses.
The second level is just a poorly done Bilsy battle where you start off by shooting some destruct scenery producing tilebugs after being shot. Next you walk into a warp and have to face Bilsy and you don’t even get ANY weapons to help. Killing him with just the Blaster is very hard even on the Easy difficulty.
As for all the other levels most of them are just the EPIC originals and the other level is the boss arena from Dx’s Cave. The player is placed just before the Boss arena and a very badly designed wall has been inserted to block the player from going back through the level. The Labrat one was done badly. I got stuck in the wall on starting this.

OVERALL THOUGHTS

This is basically a sort of Boss Rush level pack except NOTHING has been changed at all. There are already some perfectly good Boss Rush packs available.

I’m gonna give this 2.0 since the only effort that was put into this pack was in the Bilsy level and the level selection part.

DOWNLOAD RECOMMENDATION

No, you must design your own levels and not just edit orignals.

REVIEW

Oh, this is just such a brilliant utility. This was very useful in getting rid of the many TSF files that I have had sitting in my 1.23 folder.
This utility is extremely easy to use. To use it, all you need to do is place the exe in your 1.23 Jazz2 folder and then run it.
It will start searching for any TSF levels and tilesets that are sitting in your 1.23 folder and then move them to a seperate folder called “TSF-Files” which you can then delete if you don’t want to keep them.
The only thing I also think would be a good idea is to include the ability to search subfolders as well.

This is certainly a MUST HAVE utility if you have downloaded any files that you didn’t know were TSF into your 1.23 folder.

Overall, I’m extremely impressed with this utility and I think this deserves no less than a 10!

There is absolutely no point in downloading this level at all. It only took me ONE minute to complete. The warps were too hidden and did not have any obvious signs of where they are.
Eyecandy needs major improvement!
You need to put more effort into your levels.

Cave. A generic sounding name of a level you first think before downloading this file but on loading up the level you will be faced with more than you might expect.

EYECANDY

Dx has made an extremely great use of the Carrotus Fix tileset. Instead of being an outside type of level, this takes place in a Cave as suggested by the name.
The eyecandy here is really good. The most creative use of the tileset is where Dx has made hanging bridges using the horizontal logs and making it look like they are hanging from the ceiling using the vines.
All eight Layers have been put to good use.
Layers 2 and 6 have been used creatively to make an excellent looking pool of water.
One of the blue tiles below the trees has been used in Layer 6 and the BG water tiles have been used in Layer 2 and made transparent to achieve this effect.
The eyecandy could be improved by making use of the Lighting events. Flicker light events would look great on the flames.

8/10

GAMEPLAY

You start off in an area with three flames and you can see two paths. One of these is blocked off and you need to search for the crate to open up the second area.
The main goal of this level is to collect Coins so that you can be transported to a Boss arena where you will come across a Bubba and two Schwartzenguards. You have to defeat Bubba while hanging from a horizontal vine. A healthy selection of +1 Carrots is provided should you be low on Hearts.
Some secrets can also be found in this level, I won’t say where they are but you should be able to find them if you look hard enough.
The level is quite short but is fun to play and will probably last you about 10-15 minutes on your first playthrough.

8/10

PICKUP PLACEMENT

20 coins are scattered throughout the level for you to find and you’ll need these to access the Boss. One of these Coins can be collected by shooting it with an Electro Blaster and the Belt events will then carry it through the wall where you can then collect it. There is a good selection of ammo to pick up including RFs, Bouncers, Pepper Spray and Electro Blasters.
Two 1UPs can be found. One of these can be found by the first Crate and the other can be found in a Secret.
There is a good amount of +1 Carrots that can be found so you should not remain on 1 Heart for the entire level.
Three Power-Ups can also be found but I won’t mention what these are or where they can be located.
Seeker ammo is provided in the Boss arena so you can hit Bubba more easily. This ammo respawns every 12 seconds.
Two Electro Blaster Power-Ups are also provided so that you can shoot the Schwartzenguards.
Placement of all the pickups is good.

9/10

ENEMY AND OBSTACLE PLACEMENT

The enemies you will face in this level are Normal Turtles, Bats, Tuf Turtles, a few Tube Turtles, small Dragons and some Crabs.
The amount of enemies is good, not too many or too less and the placement of them is good. There are enough to kill you.
Obstacles in this level are several spinning Spike Balls and Trigger Scenery. Three Crates are to be found in order to progress through the level.
There are three Bosses in the arena but you only have to defeat one.
The Dragons can be a little annoying but the placement of all the other enemies is great. I like the way a Tube Turtle is dropped on you when you stomp the second Crate.

8/10

TOTAL SCORE: 33/40
OVERALL MARK = 33 / 40 = 82.5% = 8.3

DOWNLOAD?

While the level is quite short, you will still have fun here since the gameplay is great. Also, you will see some of the most creative eyecandy ever in a Carrotus level.
So, my answer to this is YES!

This is my 100th FULL review! :D

Just don’t download this. 4 extremely linear levels and one boring Boss battle.
All you do is run right, drop down, run left and get to the exit.
In the 3rd level you had a Coin warp but there are no Coins. In the textstring you say to cheat to enter the warp. I know it’s not English but I can clearly see the cheat code.

All I see is one platform with NO EVENTS used at all.
This looks like it was made in about 2 minutes.
Only Layer 4 has been used. There is nothing in Layers 1-3 & 5-8.
I see this marked as Battle but how would 16 players play in this “level?”
I can not award any more than a 1.0

This is a good fix of the Colon tilesets.
Everything is re-arranged so that you can find the tiles more easily.
However, it could probably do with a Keyhole block and the V & H-Poles.
One noticable thing about this set is that the flames can now be used in the Day version.
If you find Colon hard to use, I recommend getting this tileset.
I did help out with this though, so it’s probably best that I don’t rate this.
Still, this is a good fix of the original Colon sets which were messy in terms of how the tiles were arranged.
