Well I like it. Good job. Not perfect but I like the idea.
If this is you’re first time making levels let me say good job! This is above average by far. I also played this in medium.
Eyecandey:
Great. You used a background similar to the official levels so it has tilebugs in them. But other then that no tilebugs! Everything fits together. The background looks good and you even used the foreground. (Which looks very good)The bricks look good and I like the tileset usage. The eyecandey can look repetitive in some areas but considering you don’t have much to chose in castle, it looks good. I liked it, good tileset usage, low tilebugs. Great eyecandey. I’d give it a higher rating if you used windows in the floor. (The bar ones)
7/10
Gameplay:
I don’t know why but I got hooked. I had fun with the level. I have no clue why but I got hooked. There were some nice puzzles but they were to easy to solve. Enough enemies to make me die, and interesting concepts like invisible poles. (I like the idea as it looks good.)I’d give the gameplay a 8 if there wasn’t for one thing. The warp. If you haven’t collected 100 coins by the time you get to the warp your have to restart the entire level and with the re-generating enemies,, the lack of carrots becuase you used 70% of them alreaty and because it takes another 4 minutes to reach the warp again makes it very annoying. You should have placed it closer. The level is about 7-8 minutes long. So I’ll give you an 8 for puzzle usage, the fact I got hooked and because I love the text strings.
7/10
Enemy placement:
Great. Enough to kill me even with all the carrots. Half of them re-generate with can get annoying but it adds a challenge if you don’t get all the coins. A wide variety was used and they all fit in. (Except the bees) So I’ll give you a 8 just because there are to many re-generating enemies which can get annoying.
8/10
pickup placement:
Good. The coins were well hidden, good ammo placement, extra lives were to easy to get. Also there is this one area that has 3 power ups and you have to go though there. Don’t do that! There’s also way to much food. I got 2 sugar rushes! Nice us bombs though. Considering all the enemies I think the carrot placement was great.
7/10

D/R? Yes. The gameplay is just fun and addicting. even if this pack is short lived while it does, it’s fun! Download this one right away
Jazz Jackrabbit 2 the Movie is a interesting concept that fails to get 2 stars.
Eyecandey:
I’m sorry but this is just bad. There are some interesting eyecandey parts like the disco room and traffic lights but other then that there’s nothing new. There’s tilebugs in almost every level and in the city levels you tried to put all the background tiles in one layer. It comes out in a sloppy, looking weird way that makes no sense. Plus in some cases you used 1 tile for a maze or for a pit or something like that. Other times there’s just no enough eyecandey. Like the base level. Top Secret has over 500 tiles and you used about 50 of them. The level looks boring to look at and just plain rushed. There’s also little foreground. Sorry but 2 months may sound like a lot but for a pack this big you may need a year before you really get it good. I’ve been working on a pack for about a year and I’m still only about half done. Finally most levels are empty. So overall the tilebugs and back background just suck and by todays standards that’s just not acceptable.
2/10
Gameplay:
Bad. Most of the levels involve going from point a-b with weak puzzles and couple of enemies along the way. Half levels don’t take you to the next and one of them doesn’t have a tileset for it. Some levels have no puzzles and just involve running from point a-b. Also one of the levels involve re-doing the level which was annoying. There were no coins warps and almost no secrets. Overall the levels are just boring to play.
1/10
Enemy placement:
Very few. There wasn’t a level I could dye on. There are so few enemies that it’s almost impossible to die. Not enough to come even close to killing me.
1/10
Pickup placement:
No carrots, extra lives and very few carrots. (Which aren’t needed) I mean come on! A full energy carrot in a level with no enemies? Almost no food and empty levels are included!

D/R? No but keep trying. I hope the second movie will be better.
I don’t mean to be mean but this is one of the worst levels I’ve ever played.
Eyecandey:
Nothing to talk about. There’s a textured background, snow, and that’s
it. No foreground and no mountains, carrots or anything. All there is is 3 tiles used for the ground and some of them have tilebugs on them. The Snow makes no sense and the level’s boring to look at.
1/10
Gameplay:
No gameplay. Go left, killing lizards, go right killing lizards then fight Deven. No challenge and no puzzles. There’s text but it’s blocked by the hud and it goes off the screen, making it impossible to read. The level is about 2 minutes long and is boring to play. If I wanted to play something like this I’d just make something like this on my own.
Did I mention that there’s no music?
1/10
Enemy placement:
About a 100 lizards and a Deven boss. snoring

Pickup placement:
At the end about 25 boxes of toaster ammo and a power up. Again horrible.

What this is
This is basically a conversion of the pallet Candion. For the most part, the conversion is complete with little problems, but there are somethings to talk about.
Tiles
For the most part, everything is here. The basic candy is here. Caves, gingerbread man, lolly, jazz 1 style signs, different types on candy, candy polls, tubes and jazz 1 style background. The mountains are here as well. I’m not a huge fan of the destruct blocks. We got arrows, textured background, hooks and vines as well. As far as I can see, mostly everything is here. Good job!
8/10
Animations
The weird flashing poles are here. So are the arrows. However, the lollipop had an animation to it and it isn’t present. Good job, but you missing one.
8/10
color
For the most part color is good. the color’s look kinda deducted from the some of the tiles but it’s not your fault. I’m giving a 10 because the color blending isn’t your fault. (Dang pallets)
10/10
Masking
Masking is near perfect. Straight lines for the most part and everything is masked properly. Good job there!
10/10
Pallet Events
Well lets see. Water, textured background work perfectly. the jungle poll is usable as well. That’s about it.
5/10
Reusabilty
Not bad. Even though it is only a conversion, you can still quite a bit with this tileset. From caves, to a candy garden, to outdoors or a mixture of everything. Good job!

DR? Yes. this is great tileset from Violet. I look forward to more of his work.
Ok first thing how can it be yours when…
1: The colors look correct?
2: There are jazz 1 end signs?
3: There’s non of the green tiles?
I didn’t steal yours the top section is what’s included in jazz 1 and I added onto that. Also you never reply to my emails so I gave up and did my own. I didn’t steal anything from you so thank you and good bye.
Edit: I did respond to your letters and I did compile the tileset and I had the same problem. I’ll bet you anything this problem happened because the mask had no pallet loaded into it. (Since I used remap pallet) I was only making suggestions so please drop this! I’m trying to get my name out and become a respected level maker and tileset maker. I didn’t steal anything from you and I didn’t know how to fix the problem so I gave you subjections on how to improve the tileset as the one you made looked like crap. Once we fixed up the tileset then I was going to help you with the problem. I was only trying to get you a higher rating. So you see you have nothing against me and I didn’t do anything to you. I did what you told me, I had the same problems and I tried to help you improve it. If you didn’t want my help in that area all you needed to do was tell me that you didn’t want my help. So if this continues on and on for some reason I’ll get an admin on this and see what he thinks.
PS: And again I DIDN“T steal anything from you tileset! This tileset is 100% my work.
Edit2: Response to PT: Everything’s been settled. I made the tileset and RedJazz agrees. Ok? I’m the author.
Time for my 60th full review! (cues celebrating music)
Story
As always, Mike delivers a great story. since this is the third pack, the pack revolves around the story a lot. I won’t spoil anything, but it is fun and has a cool twist at the end. The story is fun, cool, compelling and overall, it makes you want to keep playing.
10/10
Eyecandey
WOW. this is great. Since all the levels take place in space, eyecandey is limited. That didn’t stop mike. The backgrounds are basic but the foreground and layer 4 is great! the space ship levels look really cool and look very close to what I would think a space ship would look like. Layer 3 is also used mainly as chain link and fences. I like the ones where you go into the enemy space ships and you see space zoom by at light speed. the carrotus orbital base is more basic, but it still looks like a base an id still cool. The only level that isn’t space is the simulator. It uses a cool effect of removing the colors of the pallet to make it look like everything is an outline. It’s one of the coolest gimmicks I’ve ever seen! The cutsceens just add to the experience. Overall, great eyecandey!
10/10
Gameplay
Once again, top notch. The story levels as I call them, are very basic but a lot of the people in the base have something to say, adding more life. The first real level, the simulator, is really cool. It’s a fun, long level and the puzzles are interesting. It takes some skill. The enemy ship levels look cool, having some of the most innovating puzzles I’ve seen. It uses a complex series of triggers to make switches and interesting barrier puzzles. The first one is really hard as you need to find bouncer ammo and destroy the blasters of the ship. obstacles are great in it and it seems like a death trap at times. The final 2 levels are really cool as well. The pack is about medium difficulty on easy and I like that. the levels are between short and long but they all deliver. overall, great gameplay!
10/10
Enemy Placement
One again, great. The enemies are well choicen and there put in good locations, making it so you may die. Some are put in areas that make it hard to pass without getting hit. Enough enemies are present and the placement seems fair.
10/10
Pickups
Great. There are enough carrots to let you live and still making it so you may die. Food is good as well, making it so you won’t get constant sugar rushes. the gems add as well to the experience. The ammo is nice a varied and it is moderate which means you won’t have outrages amounts of ammo. Save points are put is good locations as well. overall, great pickup placement.

DR? This is my favorite pack made by Mike so far. do yourself a favor and download right now. It’s just as enjoyable as all the other episodes.
Not good at all.
Eyecandey:
Horrible. The tileset is carotus by the way. The level looks empty. A lot of the level has tilebugs and a lot of the level consists destruct blocks and end posts. The MCE look good but they make no sense and have no reason to be there. There is only a textured background and no other background objects or foreground objects.
1/10
Gameplay:
Bad. There is an airbord part that is almost impossible to do. There’s just to many twists and turns. Plus once you get the airbord, if you don’t break a certain block then your stuck and you have to kill yourself. Also the level is only half done. Don’t upload half finished things!

DR? No. Spend more time on your levels and don’t upload them when there half complete. Keep trying though. You’ll get good soon enough.
Don’t give up one making levels! It takes more than 3 levels to get you name out there. Look at evilmike, his levels were average until he released his Invasion of Deserto pack and now hes one of the best levels makers on jazz2online! Now for the review. My first Race review!
Eyecandey:
The eyecandey is great. The black part made no sense but after that the eyecandey looked great. The trees in the background look amazing. It looks it took along time. There’s a moving textured background and the place really looks like it’s outdoors. Layer 3 was used a lot for tons of shrubage and the holes in the wall look professionally done. Great eyecandey!
8/10
Gameplay/obsticle placement
Good. The black area I got stuck on. There was no way to get past from what I saw. I found a trigger crate in the wall using JCS but there’s no way to get to it. Mabey I have to be in MP? Well anyway I used cheats to look around and this is what I saw: There were lots of little obstacles in the black area and during the outside area it was nice. it was a good long race and there were lots of h springs for you if you not careful. There were parts were you had to climb the wall and there were lots of jumps were if you missed it you’d fall behind fast! Still something with an airbord or the switch box. (If they work in MP) So gameplay would be better if there were more verity in obstical placement.
7/10
Pickup placement:
Great. There wasn’t that much ammo in the level which is good for a race level I think. There was a verity in ammo and it wasn’t all clumped together. It was nice and scattered. There were no powerups that I could see which is good I think and no carrots. (Are those even needed in a Race level?) Great pickup placement.
8/10
Final score:23/30
Score: 8.5
Rank: B
DR: What do you think. Yes of course.
This is great. Eyecandey is great, no tilebugs whatsoever. Ammo is better placed and powerups are harder to get at. Also you have to pay to get a shield and you can pay more money for extra time which is great. Music is nice and I don’t care what you say this is a great remake. I much prefure this one than battle 1 original.
DR: Yes
Again bored outa my mine. Full review.
This is supposed to be an intro level. An intro level explains the story, not the name! I mean come on! Why did you think this would be a good idea to upload! Did you think people seeing the name of the Episode will get them hyped for it? NO! You include this in a Episode pack, not by itself. Heck, the intro is so fast I can barley read the text. Also why did you include a Episode file? don’t include any of this unless the pack is done or uploaded! I can’t give it more then a one because this is a useless attempt at an intro and doesn’t belong my itself.
Sorry but a bad start.
Eyecandey:
Nothing new. The background looks nice and it’s done properly. I like the giant carrots but that’s more of a foreground thing. The sky isn’t textured and you used 1 tile for the ground! Use a verity of tiles for the ground and use some srubag. There was no use of foreground whatsoever. All the things like shrubs, plants that could have been put into the foreground to boost the score was put in the main sprite layer. The cave place look decent but the tile’s for the ground are to repetitive. Overall the background looks good but the lack of textured backgrounds and the repetitive sprite layer really bring the score down. This is NOT true. “DarkHell offers a high level design.” Also use some different tilesets other than the ones that come with jazz 2. This one is overused to death. If you insist one using carrotus use something like carrotus fix.
3/10
Gameplay:
Little to no gameplay. Run around killing enemies, go over a bridge to a switch box, change into spaz, jump the wall, fight a couple more enemies and battle a queen who is way to far from the end of the ledge, fight the tuf boss. The fighting enemy part is about 2-3 minutes long and the queen part is about 4-5 minutes long. This level is to short I got bored out of my mind fighting the queen. Also at the wall part it says to save because of a puzzle but you can jump the wall as spaz rather than moving the rock. that’s about it.
2/10
Enemy placement:
Bad. There little enemies and there’s not enough to kill you. Al this level had was bees on hard mode, turtle tuf turtles, helmets and bats. The bat is placed in a way were it’s impossible to no get hit. There’s also a respawning tuf turtle at the tuf boss but that adds very little. so to little enemies.
2/10
Pickup placement:
Bad. There little food, I’d say about 15 pieces of food. Some tnt at the begining, a box of 15 bouncer bullets, 6 frostbit ammo, a frostbit powerup that’s in the open and no carrots. This doesn’t cut it.
1/10
Final score:8/40
Rank: F
Score: 1.5
Dr/No. Look at some successful episodes like the invasion of Deserto or the frogey quest.
Kubububa you level are getting a lot better.
Eyecandey:
The eyecandey is some of the best I’ve seen you do but that still doesn’t cut it. The background looks great and it’s nice that you used layer 3 for some of the plugs. But you used one tile for the ground in most of the level and it looks pretty repetitive. And sometimes you used a tile that just didn’t fit together. You also used a metal tile tile over again and it looks weird and repetitive. Also the level looks empty. Don’t make you levels huge. For something like this you only needed the standard 256 by 64. When you make you levels that are 700 by 700 not only do the levels look empty but you can’t save in them. plus some of the animations didn’t animate properly. So the background is great but the repetitive tiles and emptiness really bring down the score.
5/10
Gameplay:
The gameplay is good. There is a switch box at the beginning because you need Spaz or Lori to complete the level. There are some puzzle elements to the level and the level is open ended. But the level is confusing. I didn’t have the patience to complete the level but I got the basics of the level. There a couple of traps and she made it so you can’t fall off the level. There are also cases were if you miss a jump you fall down to a past part of the level which can get anowing. There are some nice secrets which add to the gameplay but a coin warp could have been placed. You really know what the meaning of Maze is. But I got so lost that I got board with the level after about 5 minutes. One thing. Please take the time to translate the text. I’ve seen you do it before so please do it again.
6/10
Enemy placement:
Great. The enemys were not clumped together. They were nice and spread out and in some cases you’ll go flying into one if your not careful. They were used as guards in some cases which is a good idea. There were enough to kill me but some of the enemy choses were weird.
8/10
Pickup placement:
bad…. THERE“S A TOASTER AND SEEKER POWERUP RIGHT AT THE BEGINNING!!!!! Same thing later in the level with a RF and Seeker powerup placed in the open. Sorry but they were to easy to get to. Don’t put powerups is the open make them hard to get to. Ok. Food placement was good. It was nice and scattered and there’s enough to get a sugar rush (I think) Gems were nicely placed as there’s not to many. Same for extra lives. But the carrots.. THERE“S ! CARROT! I ONLY FOUND 1 CARROT! Plus with the great enemy placement this level is very hard to get by without dyeing. Plus there little ammo in the level. keep working one it. You’ll get it right.

DR: I’m sorry but the bad ammo placement and frustrating gameplay means it’s just not worth a download. Keep trying though. Your improving!
This is a good tileset.
This tileset has everything a tileset need s to make a good level. (Belt’s poles ect)The tileset looks interesting and is drawn well. All the tiles fit together properly and I can’t thing of anything else to add to this. Even though it has littles animations the ones that are included look good. With this you can make really good looking casino. The letters look good and so do the elevators. It’s very colorful and I’ll deafently think about making a level with this.
DR: Yes
First of all this isn’t your work. You took cream clone from the level that comes with jazz 2 TSF (which isn’t a great level to start with) and just switch tilesets and enemy’s. Since this is only 5% you work I“m not going to rate it. Thank you and goodbye.
One note. DON“T include tilesets that come with Jazz 2. That’s poison to people like me.
Note: There is little to no story so I’m not even going to talk about it.
Eyecandey:
Sorry but this just doesn’t cut it. All the levels look very identical. (minus the pallet changes and level layout) The levels look empty and the background is noting I’ve not seen before. There were these weird pieces of floor in the background and foreground that move faster than Jazz. It was confusing and had no reason to be there. (other than covering some useless things like an arrow that serves no reason for exictance and hiding baddie’s with is unfair and anowing.) Plus most of the levels were made up of about 20 tiles out of the whole tileset. (That is sarcastic but if looks that way. There’s no veryity.) It’s also worth noting that the level has a lot of useless animations in it. Lots that make no sense. Also the speakers have tile bugs in them and have a weird animations that looks bad.
3/10
Gameplay:
Level 1:
Gameplay:
Boring. There’s some puzzle elements but there all to simple to solve. (20 seconds at the most.) The level was only about 2 minutes and theres this survival thing with a fast regenerating Full Energy carrot making it to easy. (As if it’s not easy enough as it is.) Also at the end you have 2 choices to make to get to the end. ! is to take on tons of turtles but there so close together hitting one of them kills them all because of there shells. The other one is a showdown with a robot but the robot doesn’t even activate and you can go underneath him to the exit. Also you can fall of the end of the level. Meaning you have to restart the level to continue playing.
Enemy placement:
Couple on enemies. Almost impossible to die because of to little enemy’s. At the survival area theres 3 rats the respawn. You can stand at 1 corner and just keep shooting to win. Next question.
Pickup placement:
Carrots: There’s a couple of carrots but there’s so little enemys that they have almost no use. Also regenerating carrot in the survival area re-spawns to quickly.
Ammo: # sticks of TNT. That’s it.
Total:2/10
Level 2:
Gameplay:
Go to the left, fall down into a pit of enemies covered up by the foreground, got though some opening and closing gates, end of level. About 2 minutes. At the gates if you hold right you’ll take damage but you’ll get to the end.
Enemy placement:
Some enemies at the bottom of the level that makes is so you always get hurt. Also makes is hard to get past the gates without getting hit.

Ok I promised a full review almost a year ago and I’m going to write it now that I have nothing better to do.
It’s been a while, but i still remember. Now I did help test this pack, but I’m going to be completely unbiased.
Story
I have to say, the story is very basic. You are exploring Chrysalis cave to find a gem called the Gem of live and then everything goes to hell. Not much meat, but at least it’s better then being told what to do by a frog. (ALA: Jazz x)
5/10
Eyecandey
Level 1:
Great job here! this conversion isn’t that great. but the eyecandey is great. The background can look weird at first, but It still looks good. Everything’s here. Lots of flashy lights, waterfalls, gold pillars, and lots of money. I really think the level looks like Chrysalis. The lighting is pretty cool and there are some nice touches that are put in link the word JJ2 spelled in those flashy things. The only think that could improve this is more layer 3 stuff. Overall, great stuff!
Level 2:
I LOVED the eyecandey here. The buildings and fog look great. A lot of tiles are used to give a really cool industrial look. it even includes toxic barrels! This is about the closest your going to get to a Robotnik level look without using a sonic level. I love the use of the fans as it adds life to the level. If more layer 3 was used, this would get a 10 in eyecandey.
Bonus Stage:
I’m not going to rate this as it’s just designed as a test level, not as an eyecandey level. Even so, I still think it looks cool!
I’m not rating the last levels because there just boss levels and as such, don’t really deserve to be rated. I will tell you though that the final boss background is pretty cool.
7/10
Gameplay
Level 1:
Great! The gameplay is heavily puzzle based making the gameplay feel different then most levels. there is a variety of different obstacles from layer 3 mazes, to basic break the crate puzzles, to dodging hordes of spike bolls. There’s also some cools things like fining the correct ammo to shoot a crate through the wall. The layer 3 puzzles annoyed the heck out of me but there bearable. there was also a puzzle where you had to remember a sequence of numbers. (I wrote them down) The length is good and the secrets are well hidden. On easy, the difficulty is medium and I had fun. Good job!
Level 2:
This level is a lot shorter then the last but the innovation was a lot greater. You start off of course with some layer 3 puzzles. Once you get through those, you go down a shaft and OH SNAP! You hit toxic barrels. this is where it gets innovating. You turn into a frog and you have to go through some mazes and hordes of flying lizards to find a crate that opens the way to the antidote. To break to crate, you have to push it over some TNT which is cool. the lizards are annoying, but you can use the TNT to get rid of them. overall, fun gameplay, I just wish it was as long as level 1.
Bonus stage:
This is fun. It’s test with a cool counter. you get as far as you can and you get prizes biased on how well you did. Not going to include in rating because it’s just a bonus stage, but it’s still fun.
Boss stages won’t get rated but it’s cool to see the rocket turtle getting used!
7/10
Enemie Placement
The enemies in all the levels are pretty good. Variety and they all fit with the tileset. However, there are some areas where they were put in unfair locations that I had no way to fight back.
7/10
Pickups
Good again. the ammo was pretty good. There was just the right amount of ammo in the level to making it so it was still a challenge. Food is good and I only got 1 sugar rush. Gems aren’t used that much. Save points are in good locations and carrots are good. I did die a couple of times.

Score: 7.5
DR? Go ahead. this is a fun pack to play for a little and Spaz put a lot of effort into it. I look forward to more of his work!
I think n00b has pretty much got everything covered but I might as well review.
Story
I’m not going the lie, this story makes no sense. Devan is making a bunch of mini games so he can buy a new house? Why doesn’t he just steal something or steal a house? I mean come on, he’s a villain. Plot makes about as much sense as Hotel Mario.
1/10
Eyecandey
this can be described as back to basics. While the levels look find with no tilebugs, everything looks boring. Not much is used with layer 3 and the layer 7-5 backgrounds don’t a heck of a lot interesting. Still not much can be done with mountains. layer 4 looks empty at times and it’s boring to look at. Not much else can be said.
3/10
The Games
Break a Barrel:
My god this is boring. all you do is dodge some enemies and shooting barrels until you find a sign. That’s it. As you go one more barrels come into play and more enemies are in, but it’s still boring as heck.
One vs Million:
Don’t let the name lie. Instead of fighting hordes of enemies, dooking it out in an epic STRUGGLE FOR SURVIVAL WHILE THE ENEMIES NIP AT YOU! Uh sorry back to reality. All you do is fight 3 respawning enemies while waiting for a coin to drop. Once you get enough, you win. the problem is that flying enemies are usually stuck to high so this can boil down to sitting in the corner, pressing the fire button, grabbing the can and repeating. It’s as much fun as watching a video blindfolded.
Suck Through:
Noe this one had the potential for a great mini game. You have to swim through hordes of fish as you swim to the end. The idea is to not get hit. The only problem is that you don’t really need to even try. There’s only the fish. Why not some spikes? You can shoot the fish. the main problem is that it’s to short. You can just swim straight threw thanks to the fact you blink for a short period. As it goes on, more fish are added but it gets to the point where there’s so many you can’t go through without getting hit. even so, you can just swim head first and that temporary invincibility will get you through.
Pinball:
This one is kinda interesting. most of them involve getting to the top of the table while dodging enemies. Like always, it’s boring. The Nippius is just stupid. You have to find one of 5 warps to exit but they don’t give you any hints. you just sit there until you find it. BORING.
Overall: ALL the games are boring and are not worth playing.
1/10
Bosses
All the boses are tile bosses and non of them look like the characters they represent.
Backman:
Boring really. a pinball table where you’re supposed to butstomp his eyes and them go to the exit. It’s not challenging and you can hit the trigger by going under the bumpers really. There’s some dragon flys but they don’t pose a problem that much.
Super Rario
This is a one vs million. Again boring as heck and no challenge. All you do is get 3 coins and then buttstomp the nose.
Ponic
This is a swimming race with Ponic. This is a cool concept, but is ruined because he stops when you stop at the blocks. He also blames you at the end for some reason.
Devan
This is break a barrel. All you do is dodge flys and find the correct ammo to clear the path. that’s it.
The bosses are boring. end of story.
