A very nice little level that has the feel of the classic original Battle Levels. I like the music (“Mercury Rain” by Skaven), but I feel it doesn’t fit as well as other’s could. Oh well.
You did a really nice job with the layout, this could amount to lots of fun online. My only real complaint is that the bouncy powerup is sort of hard to see, but that doesn’t affect the rating too much.
Download now, battle fans, and Jazz fans in general!
Please, include the custom tileset if your level uses one. I can’t play this…
Very nice.
You used some excellent ideas here, I love that sub idea. Even though this level is immensly creative, it is also immensly buggy and annoying. You should have tested this more, if you would have this would get about a 9 or so.
Otherwise, you used some amazing ideas. I could go into JCS right now just to see how you did some of those great ideas…
Wow, VERY nice CTF levels you got here.
Levels like “Pit CTF” and “Maximum RAM CTF” were quite impressive. You used some good ideas (Crazy Island CTF could become pretty amusing with a lot of people). The music fit okay, but that doesn’t affect my rating much at all. Awesome’s “Hard to Believe” song added a weird feel to the MEZ03 level, but that’s acceptable.
Overall VERY nice levels you should be proud of, download now! (undecided between 7.5 and 8)
IMO this is a super simple level with some actually interesting ideas. Though plently of things brought this review down. It actually didn’t look like much work was put into this level (I can imagine battling in a simple level like this wouldn’t be too much fun). The use of events was interesting, but seems like it was done like 10000 times before (pools aren’t a new concept.)
Undecided between a 3 and a 3.5… I don’t like this much at all and can’t recommend a download.
Wow. We have a fairly simple level here, it has some hurt events (which DON’T work in MP, btw.), an ammo and chat room. I didn’t bother to actually check out the tileset used extrensively, but it seemed fairly okay. This level deserves an award for it’s smallness and simplicity, but I can hold on that.
The 70’s Grove music (which was included with TSF and therefore just wastes disk space), doesn’t fit at all.
I can’t recommend a download.
Nothing much to add to the above reviews, this is above average.
I beat it in 10 minutes (or was it less? Hmm), it has some creative puzzles, but most of it was fairly boring.
The deadly walls weren’t a great concept, it can get annoying, and besides, all you have to do is not touch the floors, they are the only part that really hurts. ;-)
In conclusion to this short review, I can recommend this for some quick fun.
A good pack I suppose, has some ups and downs. Despite the fact that it’s easy, it has some good points and plenty of originality. You made good use of the Colonius set, even though it isn’t one of my favorite tilesets. You did a nice job eye-candy wise. (gotta love the waterfall effect in the second level).
This is a good pack and should be downloaded for some fun.
(note to level creators If you’re going to have a pack that should be played in order, make it clear which level comes first, I ended up playing ASsurf first.)[This review has been edited by Genotoxin aka iCeD]
(I changed it to 1.24)
Hmm, not a bad level/tileset, but not really a good one either. It has plenty of colorful blocks, a hotel-like theme (don’t get me started on how much I hate hotels), and a dull name (that won’t affect the rating.)
Some of the tiles in the tileset were handy, but overall I would have difficulty using it.
This is above the average I guess, you might want to download it.
In truth, I really don’t like this much. It has very very little eye candy (if any at all?), and it was kinda small. To add to it, it has a pretty “slapped together” feel to the weapon placement which I don’t like at all. The whole design is circular, yes, but it’s circular is a very linear way which takes away from it.
Also, it’s TSF (bad idea when it has no TSF-only stuff!)
Overall I don’t recommend a download, this is a pretty short review, sorry.
Wow, very nice pack. Some of the levels were pretty fun (having played them online just a minute ago).. the music files fit well, even though only one was original. Some of the levels were better than others, one of the primary reasons this pack got it’s rating. Levels like StarLight Speedway were pretty cool, but other levels like Puzzle of the Weird (shudder) only succeeded in angering me. You could have improved the eye candy in some of the levels, but I suppose it was okay.
One of the high points of these levels: Originality. (I love the elevator effect in the final race. :-) Some of the originality was buggy though, take the Rising Air level for instance.
Oh well, this is definitely a good pack and worth a download. (I was undecided between 7 and 7.5)
Hmm, I didn’t hear any music, note that you should always include the music within your pack.
Anyways, this level is below the average, it has a linear design, several grammatical errors in the text strings (not to mention in the level name), doesn’t have many weapons, and the few in the level aren’t extremely well placed, the eye candy is also okay, about average I’d say.
Overall I can’t recommend a d/l, sorry.
Not a bad level, I suppose. I like the bg… even though it hurts my eyes (;-) and might look bad for non 16-bit-ers.
The layout is simple, and the eye candy is pretty dull (even though it uses the horribly overused Diamondus set), but overall I can say this level is pretty tolerable and a little above the average.
Go download I guess.
An average level I suppose, but what I really liked what was tileset. It has lots of usability, despite the Pokemon (Ahem.) stuff, it also has many little things that give this level the majority of it’s rating.
The base placement in the CTF level is kind of weird, but okay I suppose.
Go ahead, d/l. Don’t let the Pokemon stuff throw you off.
Vewwy nice.
Has a fair share of tiles, is a pretty good conversion and with a little work you could make a pretty nice level with it.
Btw NewSpaz, AWFUL EXAMPLE LEVEL! IT’S SO SMALL AND HAS A WRONG NEXT LEVEL SETTING!
Ehh, nah, I take that back. ;-P
Overall worth a d/l, especially if you like JJ1 (like I do).[This review has been edited by Genotoxin aka iCeD]
Very good levels with a nice size, good design and eye candy and many more good things. Allow me to say wow if these really are your first levels, I could barely slap up something like this in my current state.
I didn’t like every single aspect of it (example: the foreground wasn’t so great at times, not to mention the difficulty was simply too easy) but overall this is a great piece of work any beginning level-maker should be proud of.
The music: awesome! All tunes fit well. You did a great job selecting them, especially since most beginners don’t even use custom music in their levels.
All in all this is great and I recommend everyone here get this as soon as possible.[This review has been edited by Genotoxin aka iCeD]
This level is above average, I suppose. Has good eye candy and semi-playable design. Even though the hurt events weren’t a great idea, I think this is pretty much a good level that’s certainly worth a d/l. Nothing much more to say.
Um, how is this ANY different from the original version?
If you wish to update your levels, simply RE-UPLOAD your level and PM the reviewers to re-rate it.
No, re-uploading doesn’t make a new file, it overwrites the old one, so no additional disk space is consumed.[This review has been edited by Genotoxin aka iCeD]
Not a bad level. “The Secret Caves” uses the horribly overused Diamondus tileset with some standard music. Having played several versions of this on FoD’s server before, it’s quite a fun level. The event and powerup placement wasn’t bad, and you made good use of warps and such. It also has a pretty interesting layout, but the way it was designed lacks something.. hmm, fluency. But going beyond this, the base placement is simple, but awkward. There are also times when I could get myself stuck on a spring or pole. Hmm. Oh well. This level has a pretty good layout and many times can be fun to play, but more attention needed to payed on the CTF basics. But overall I think you should download this. I was pretty undecided between giving high five points of med 6 points, so I’ll go with a solid 6.
