Woo, another good level by Cmdr Dats. The way you used the tileset was great, it has lotsa eye candy. The design is also fluent and pretty easily playable. Platform placement was very nice and can amount to a very fun battle. I love the music, it fits so well. :-) Good choice.
Overall I must say you should download this NOW.
Woo, a good level using a good custom tileset. Has that good old “platform” feel that Aiko mentioned and is a pretty fun, “solid” level. I’m tempted to host this right now for some online fun. The fluent design makes for an enjoyable battle and this is definitely worth a host. I agree with Aiko though, the Castle music doesn’t fit the level too well. Oh well, it’s a tiny downfall.

Wow, nice. You used the awesome Blue World tileset by Disguise quite well, and I must say the music selection is just fine. The size is just right, amounts for not a very fast-paced uncontrollable battle but still doesn’t get boring. (I would recommend 3-6 people for a nice fun game). The layout is fun and fluent and is probably a lot of FUN in a multiplayer game.
A few minor improvements and you would get a 7.5. But good job. I highly recommend this.
This level doesn’t come close to average, but I guess I liked it more than Aiko did. This level has is very short, has basic eye candy, strangely placed enemies and events, is very short, and it’s short too. Did I mention it’s short? It has some OK things, but most of it wasn’t so great. I have to add .5 points for some OK effects and standable eye candy.
Overall I can’t recommend a d/l. Sorry.
Despite okay eye candy, I really don’t like this too much. It had a linear layout with a basic design. “Puzzle” related levels usually don’t make for good battle levels. Especially since puzzles are usually linear. Take this for example.. the bg and use of different tiles wasn’t bad, but overall I can’t see much of a reason to download this. Sorry.
Btw, don’t include official music files like fastrack.j2b in your ZIP. It just adds to the download time and wastes J2O server space.
“War Maze” is a simple, maze oriented (bad idea) level with lots of animating tiles and weirdly placed events. The way this was put together has a very confusing feel, I don’t see much of a point to chat rooms, etc. etc.. the bg was weird and I didn’t like it too much…
Another annoyance: the bg music doesn’t play.
Sorry, I can’t recommend a d/l for this.
Nothing much to add to Aiko’s review, has some nice tiles (a little choppy), also includes a nice little example level with music (that doesn’t play)
Overall I’m sure someone would want to d/l this.
Wow, a VERY nice battle level. The design was super fluent and the eye candy was good too. Uses the cool “Metal Mania” tileset and uses nice music from Crusader/QoB that fits the tileset well. Some of my only real complaints were that powerup placement was kind of weird and there were a few dead ends and missing springs, but other than this, this is a MUST D/L. So start downloadin’.
Ah, it’s about time someone converted the classic JJ1 Tubelectic set. The tileset itself is done quite nicely, however the animations are improper and I think this tileset misses some tilesets that really set apart JJ1’s Tubelectric from JJ2’s. Includes a decent example CTF level (with a bad next level setting btw. Pretty bad idea in an MP level.)
all in all a pretty good tileset I definitely recommend you d/l now.
Wow, a very nice idea combined with a very nice level.
“Coin Race” combines the idea of treasure hunt and race. The level does have it’s problems though. The long delays of the coins leads to problems. For instance, a person who knows the level is racing someone who doesn’t. The person who knows the level gets all of the coins first, then the person who doesn’t has to wait for all of the coins to come back. The race becomes imbalanced over time.
However, despite the little problems in this level, this is overall a very good level worth your d/l. :-)
Wow.. ANOTHER level using the (evil) Diamondus tileset. Well regardless, this level is pretty decent. You did a nice job perfecting the eye candy (the bg needs to move vertically a little faster though), but the layout if kinda awkward which I didn’t like too much. You need to work on making the layout a little more fluent and playable before you release a level. Also, the weapon placement was… strange, to say the least. (placing a mass of weapons near hills and such is usually a bad idea). Another fluency problem… the dead ends can steal away from a battle at times. Watch your use of them.
Overall: Sure, d/l this. You get some extra points for the eye candy.
Not a bad level at all.
The very first complaint I have for this has nothing to do with the level at all, it’s the ZIP. You made it extract to a new dir which I think is VERY annoying. but getting beyond that, the level is good. It has a nice layout and okay event placement, some tile errors were present and eye candy could have been easily improved. Also the weapons were weirdly placed. All of the other events were fine though. Everything else wasn’t so great.
Overall you can sure d/l this. (I was pretty undecided between 6.5 and 7 here..)
OK, despite the fact it uses some nice ideas, I really don’t like this level that much. You could have REALLY improved the eye candy and the layout was pretty simple. Things get tedious with the animated blocks (used in the elevator concept, an otherwise great idea, but ruined by the fact it will almost never work.) Also doesn’t use to many “fun” race obstacles. Can also get confusing at times.
One NASTY Bug: You get stuck at the end. Apperently you didn’t test this much.
Overall this is below average and I can’t recommend a d/l. Sorry.
WoW, another IMPRESSIVE tileset. Keen r00lz. It was one of the first games I’ve ever played and I still love it, and this tileset is also very cool. This tileset has a lot of stuff to work with and a lot of good ideas. Gotta love the amusing poles you can “climb down” (sort of) I myself don’t like the dull bg though… but I won’t take too much away from that.
Also includes an an example level along with an example battle level (with wrong next level settings, as Aiko mentioned, btw.) which aren’t bad.
Overall this is surely a MUST D/L! I can’t really decide between 7.5 or 8.0 on the rating.
Wow, a nice tileset that has some good ideas and is nicely sized. Looks good, you have some GOOD looking textures and the like. Despite the fact it lacks bg eye candy (as the author noted above.) it’s still a great tileset. Includes a lot of variety and is a good tileset all around. Includes a cool example level.
Overall this is DEFINITELY worth a d/l. Get to it. :-)
“Keen on Tubelectric” is a good level using the nice Tubelectric set. It has a nice layout and eye candy, as well as enemy placement. It has some nice puzzles and such. Though they were kind of annoying since I had to use cheats, I was too lazy to solve the puzzles myself. Plus I had been going around in circles for like 25 minutes. :-) I also found it possible to get trapped in certain places. Btw, I didn’t like the music choice too much.
Overall this is DEFINITELY worth a d/l. :-)
(btw, dragging the level to your JJ2/TSF icon rules all when it comes to playing levels. ;-)
A pretty average level pack containing two levels using the tubelectric set. Has some uninteresting eye candy, badly placed enemies. The layout was okay, and what I like was you actually used the tileset well… compared to other levels, at least. What annoyed me was that some of the text strings were written in another language (Dutch? German?) but that’s PARTLY excusable since your English could be limited.
I can’t say you shouldn’t d/l this, but I’m not saying you should. It’s your choice.
My opinion? Well, here goes..
It’s always a good idea to introduce a new idea to JJ2. But you have to be careful that the idea was presented well. You made a flaw that can bring down the whole level, the choose thing. As SPLASH said, hunters have an advantage which makes being one a usual choice, you could have made this CTF team style and made team-start posses, and the hosting one might get boring and kind of chaotic.
Overall it slips from getting a d/l recommendation. sorry.
A pretty simple battle level by SPLASH. It has a good layout and the like, as well as good eye candy and weapon placement, but it just seemed too… Simple. The idea of using a bg as water was pretty cool. I can’t think of much to say for this review actually, so I’ll leave it at that.
I can’t decide between a 6 or a 7 for this level so I’ll be nice and give it a 7. I recommend a d/l.
In my opinion a pretty cool level. I’ve always personally liked it. You did a good job of balancing the powerups/other stuff. Even though I don’t see a huge point to food and other food-like pickups. The warps were nicely placed, but despite the good balance, powerup placement could have been improved. The fluent design leads to fast paced (and fun. :-) gameplay.
