I didn’t like these levels too much, to be blunt and honest.
This pack includes 6 levels, each had their ups and downs. I liked the forest one the most probably… the space station one gets an award for being CONFUSING which is a major downfall. The Medivo and Space ones where OK but a little too simple for my tastes. The pyramid level… well, I’ve already reviewed that so you can look there, I’ll edit this with what I had to say about that later. You USUALLY can’t go wrong with a nice set of custom music files, but at times I felt the ones you chose didn’t fit too well.
Like I said each level had their ups and downs, but overall this is above average I guess. barely a download recommendation from me. You should spend more time on JCS before you release.
A quite nice tileset. It fixed some JJ1 sets and puts them together (in my opinion GREAT when used right… you could come up with some CREATIVE levels.) It also includes a nice example which I like. Even though it doesn’t show everything you can do with the tileset, it gives you a nice look at Deckstar and little bit of the other sets.
In my opinion not worth rating, but definitely worth a d/l.
Btw, I remember downloading the “No More Mr. Nice Rabbit…” level from J2C ages ago, and I loved the custom music. You replaced it with labrat.j2b which doesn’t fit at all. This calls for a fix. ;-)
WoW, a very nice single player episode. I like the use of the custom tilesets, and you also have some GREAT ideas. (Mmm, car chase.) I don’t like the idea of respawning enemies too much but it added some difficulty to the last level. Though this episode DID have some stuff to complain about. There were minor eye candy/navigational bugs, not to mention some of the ANNOYING puzzles. (hey, I like puzzles, but try to make them easier) However, aside of this, I REALLY can’t think of much to complain about.
The music was cool but didn’t play on certain levels..
Overall I HIGHLY recommend this pack. Get downloading.
A pretty good Multiplayer pack from Bartman (I didn’t like it as much as Aiko), has some interesting ideas, which I like. The blackout level is especially cool. :) This pack does have it’s flaws though, the event placement wasn’t so hot (30 toaster pickups right next to each other has never been something I was tempted to do. :) The layout is something I like, it’s done well, and has eye candy to back it up. The music fit well and the tilesets were used well. Though you could have spent more time on certain levels as I don’t like them/they look sloppy.
Overall I can’t say much but that you should DOWNLOAD NOW.
(note as Aiko said, bartctf3.j2l doesn’t work, fix and re-upload now. ;-)
In my opininion an above average level. Has a good layout and nice eye candy, however it did have it’s problems. One of them being that there were badly placed (masking-wise) tiles that got annoying. Like the radish somewhere along the left side of the level. That could/should have been placed in the foreground. Springs are good, though I felt they were overdone here.
I should personally note that you didn’t stash away the bonus stuff very well, I was able to get to every one without coins. :-)
Overall a decent battle level that’s BARELY worth your d/l.
Btw, PLEASE don’t include the tileset/music with in the ZIP, as Aiko said. It just wastes space.
I think that’s referred to as a "mistake" Claw.
anyway, these battle levels are ok I guess. They are about average, but the tilesets bring them up to a 6. The way the levels were done I don’t like very much. The maze concept in the sand level is pretty unoriginal too. The layout/eye candy in the snow level was okay. Btw, you really need to know when to use @‘s in your text strings. :-) One major downfall of the tilesets: they have an awful masking. Make sure the masking is workable before calling a tileset "complete"
Overall barely worth your d/l, but only because of the tilesets.
(Btw, reset "Battle" as the playtype with the groovy edit info/re-upload function.. ;-)
Whoa. An EXCELLENT episode. One of the lucky ones to get a 9 from me. MEZ01 (along with other tilesets) was streched to it’s limits, the music fit VERY well. It also uses a lot of creative stuff. This includes the NIFTY wide-screen view which gives it a cinematic feel. As Aiko noted, though, you should have included a readme. Even though I may know who made them, not everyone else does. :-)
My only true complaints are some levels are short and there are minor eye candy bugs. This won’t stop me from saying it’s one of the most awesome SP episodes ever created.

An actually pretty good level by SPLASH.
Uses a JJ1 set (fixed JJ1 sets are kind of userused IMO.), it had a few problems (ie lack of one ways where they were needed.) but most of it was fine.
The bg music is EXCELLENT but makes the file a little too big to d/l as Aiko said. The layout is good but kind of small and simple. Powerup placement is good.
The eye candy was okay (creative though!) but the 2001 in the foreground is kind of annoying. Good thing you didn’t tile it. :-)
I recommend this. Go download.
Another NICE level using the Psych tileset.
The tileset itself I have never liked, but I (just with any tileset) see remarkable possibilties. This shows a lot of the possibilities. The style of design I like, the layout was cool. It just needed a few additional weapons. The caterpiller could have also been placed better. I like the eye candy, it looks good, could have been improved on Layer 4 though.
Overall DEFINITELY worth your d/l, get to it! :-)
Mmm, a nice open CTF. This may be “stupid” but I actually like it, the layout/most of the event placement was good. Eye candy was okay but could have been improved. There was also lack of one whens when they were needed (common mistake in the tileset)
The base placement was evil though. :-)
OVERALL: An above average level, barely worth your d/l.
Wow, a VERY good CTF level using the actually underused Labratory set.
The variation in this level is good, and the tileset was used well. Base placement was good, but simple. It was also a little too much of a challenge to get to the red base, not to mention it’s hard getting a good base route going. Also there is lack of one ways when needed in one spot…
I like the eye candy and event placement here, the design is quite good.
CONCLUSION: Download now, any CTF fan will like this (including me. :-)
W00, another good tileset. I like all the variation this set has, very good tiles and an AWESOME bg…
The example levels are quite good too. Not to mention the tileset has most anything you could imagine (as Aiko said) I like the texture all the tiles have, and overall this is QUITE good.
Download, or be banned! :-)
Ahh, finally someone uses the cool Medivo tileset.
I like the layout of the level, the event/powerup placement was OK and the base placement was good. Nothing that I consider really bad.
Get downloadin’! :-)
Very very nice.
I love these levels, even though the eye candy was confusing and a little overdone at times. The layout of these levels were good (but basic at times…) The weapons placement was VERY good. I like the style of design, the tilesets were used well. It would be hard for me to give critique for all of the levels here, so I’ll just say it all in 2 words: VERY AWESOME.
Get this now.
heh, small levels are fun, even though not much effort goes into them. Despite the fact the level is very very small, it’s not bad. Along with being small, it also feels quite crowded. I don’t like that. The eye candy looks weird but actually pretty good. Confusing at times. This could be quite fun for duels…
Not really worth downloading, unless you download EVERYTHING, like me. :-)
In my opinion a GREAT CTF level by Disguise. I like the unique metal placement/eye candy. The base placement was good, the layout is decent and pretty fluent. Stuff was arranged nicely. My only real complaint was the base placement could have been improved.
Definitely worth your download. Click the “Download” link above please.
Two very good single player levels. I liked the way the set was used and the layout was cool. Enemy placement was good. I sort of felt the Citadel level became confusing. The Citadel level could also use some music… hmmm… ;-)
Overall a very good Single Player worth your download. :-)
A slightly above average single player level using the easter set. I liked the layout and enemy placement (I wasn’t too bothered by the christmas enemies) you could have improved the eye candy though. I felt some tiles were misused and repetitive at times.
Hmm, this level sure could use some music. ;-)
Overall BARELY a download recommendation.
An above average level using the MEZ02 tileset. The layout was good (though I don’t like tight design very much) event placement was good, but the eye candy would have been improved. It also needs to be bigger. IMO the BG music would have been cool if it played. Listen to Aiko, fix and re-upload. ;-)
Overall a good battle level worth your download.
WoW, very good single player pack. The design, eye candy and many other stuffs were good. I liked the difficulty balance, and it was a lot of fun.
Blade and Wille have whipped up a VERY nice level back. DOWNLOAD NOW! :-)
