A pretty good level, using the AWESOME Town House tileset, even though it fails in other categories, eye candy-wise it’s quite good. I like the layer organisation/Layer 4 eye candy. Design/layout wise it’s not so great. You could have improved event placement and the like and there just a few too many weapons IMO. With work in these areas, this level could become a favorite of mine. Okay music btw, but you could have selected better.

Overall this surely gets a download recommendation from me, so click the DOWNLOAD link above.

(I agree with Aiko here, re-upload this level WITHOUT the metal.mod music, it wastes J2O disk space.)

This is a pretty good tileset/battle level (I didn’t like this as much as Aiko did..) with some useful stuff such as vines, ceiling blocks and a bunch of different JJ2 screenshots slapped together in the set. The little level that comes with it is decent, has a weird and kind of confusing BG which I didn’t like very much, but is at least semi-good I suppose. The music included is cool but the choice could have been better. Also the level is kind of linear.

Overall I can’t think of a reason not to d/l this.

“Battle Out 4” is a nice level (btw, next time simply RE-UPLOAD your level when you want to fix it..) using the Carrotus tileset. It has a nice layout and great eye candy, and really makes good use of the (overused. ;-) Carrotus tileset. The weapon selection/rest of event placement was OK, but could have been easily improved. There are a few flaws in the design which can bring it down, such as powerups near each other and dead ends which hurt the fluency of gameplay. I also felt the need for just a few more powerups, but overall nice job.

Any Jazzer should direct his cursor to the DOWNLOAD link above. I recommend this.

This level pack includes two simple levels, a kind of annoying hotel-like (evil. ;-) one, which I don’t really like. (if I had to grade each of the levels seperately I would give the hotel one a 4 and the Tube one a 6…) I could go on ranting about how much I don’t like hotels but I think that can be spared for this review.

One of my various complaints for this pack was the levels used too many of the same tiles, giving it a quite boring feel overall I guess. you should add some more variety to keep the player exploring… might I say you did a nice job with the bg in the Tube level. It looks good (a little crowded though.)

Overall my thoughts on this are average… you choose if you want to d/l.

Yet again a below average level. Uses the MEZ03 tileset, has okay eye candy, a strange (kind of hotel like) layout, along with some sort of puzzle like thing needed to get into the main battle place. Not very interesting. The puzzle idea isn’t original, and is quite tedious. (I mean, c’mon, I had to use jjcoins to get out of it), also the eye candy is kind of confusing at times.

Overall I was undecided about a rating.. so I settled on 3.5. Not worth a d/l IMO.

Well allow me to be the first to say I don’t really like this much. It was pretty simple, some bad level settings (NEVER EVER use subdirectories! Leads to lots of problems!), and it was.. well, boring. It has a few good sides (such as… well, I’ll think about it.) but aside of that there is no real reason to download this. Sorry.

Hey NewSpaz, AWFUL LEVEL! ABSOLUTE CRUD! I’M GONNA GIVE THIS A 1!

heh, but in truth, this isn’t bad. It’s below average, yes. But that won’t stop me from saying “Good Job for a first” mine was a lot worse…

This review is pretty short and dull but I can’t recommend a d/l.

Yup, I too am a hotel disliker. but I can admit that this level was at least tolerable. It has below average use of the otherwise good tileset. Has a warp-oriented style of navigation and strange stuff. The eye candy/layout overall could be improved. And I have to agree with Buster here, what’s the point of hotels in JJ2 really? they’re quite boring and IMO not really worth much…

barely 4 points and no real d/l recommendation from me.

This is pretty much an average level using a pretty interesting idea (though it wasn’t portrayed well.) has a typical hotel-style design (warp oriented design leads to trouble, you should know.) I don’t see the point of putting a hotel in an otherwise good idea like this.

Overall it’s BARELY average (was undecided between 4.5 and 5 points here.)

Now I’ve never been a big fan of Nintendo (never will be), but this isn’t a bad tileset (AGAIN I make a foremost complaint: Um, if you don’t have 1.23, why is the JJ2 version 1.23 on the level info? Fill in your version CORRECTLY please), includes lots of tiles from the Zelda games. Has a nice theme and a sort of weird example level. Might I also comment there are enough tiles for you to make a good level with some effort.

Download away. I was pretty undecided between 6.5 and 7 points.

My first and most stood out opening words: fill in the info correctly. This level is for 1.24, not 1.23. and it doesn’t use the Beach tileset. Thank you.

Getting onto the level itself, it’s.. well, not great. Has a very hotel-like design and weirdly placed events. I found my time in this level to be a very confusing experience. Try to give the people a hint about where they’re going and don’t try to rely on warps as a way to get around your level. You can also try to improve the eye candy, this whole level had a very boring look.

All in all I can’t recommend a d/l.
(BTW: annoying bug, wrong next level setting. And no music.)

First and foremost of all, you should NEVER include standard music files. Everyone already as them (as ST mentioned.) and they just tend to waste disk space.

Second of all, I like this level’s background. And it has a nice backgound. Did I mention the background was good? At any rate, there isn’t much extremely pretty besides the background… the events in this level were pretty weirdly placed together. This also has a tacky layout and below the average eye candy. The readme has a request for information about how to make “hollow places” (if you have questions like this, direct them to the JCS forum of the JMMB, please.). Also, this level has some strange ideas…

Wooteedoo, not much of a reason to download this, unless you obsess over good backgrounds.

Hmm, well, I didn’t review this the first time so I’ll do so now..

all in all this pack is pretty awesome. Has some great battle levels, superb tilesets with amazing music choices. It was a good idea to use WORKING textured bgs in all of your tilesets, as they add a super-cool effect. The levels are pretty good too. In of themselves their only downfall is that they get really boring after you’ve played them considering they all have the same style of layout and design.

Overall this is GREAT and I recommend EVERYONE get this now.

An above average level I guess.
Has some decent eye candy along with a good layout. Doesn’t have half bad event placement and is overall well… above average. Has a few eye candy flaws that could easily be fixed, but that won’t drop the rating too low.

Overall a 5.5 from me.
(btw, as Aiko noted, please don’t include standard music and tilesets in your levels. It only waste’s diskspace)

Nothing much to add to Aiko’s review. Has a good layout and okay eye candy (could stand a few workovers.) Weapon placement could have been easily improved. The platformish design could make for a fun battle though.

I agree, the music isn’t a great choice.

Overall, sure, download this.

I’m sorry, but I don’t like this much at all. This is a pretty small tileset with some basic blue blocks and a non-working textured bg (well, it looks fine on 16-bit, but doesn’t look so hot on 8-bit), some of the tiles are pretty useless and overall I can’t say there’s much of a reason to download this below average tileset. Sowwy.

Yet again I am impressed with one of Dats’s levels. The (overused. ;-) MEZ01 tileset was used quite well and the design is great, super fluent and very playable. I really can’t think of anything really wrong with this and therefore no reason not to download it. The only real small downfall was that the “He Has No Face” background music (I can tell what tune it is by filename) doesn’t play, but that won’t take away from the level rating.

Overall you should download now please.

Whoa, this is your first level? Seems like you’d been making levels for a while if this was you first. ;) Uses the cool “Mountain” tileset by Disguise and has a nice layout, uses the tileset well, not to mention has a SUBERB music selection. I love the open (READ: fun. :) design and overall layout. The music choice is awesome, it sounds very familiar also.. hmm.

Wow… I’ve been reviewing (almost) nothing but good levels today. This level is a great level by Cmdr Dats using his own tileset, the design is quite good and is pretty fluently playable. the eye candy was also good and you used the tileset well (seems sorta obvious since the tileset is your own. ;-), the only flaw was the weapon placement but that’s not going to take away from the overall rating much.

Nice music choice, it’s one of those “hard to stop listening to” ones. Fits the level quite well.

Overall I can’t think of a reason not to download this. :-) (I was undecided between 7.5 or 8, but I’m feeling generous today)
