Haven’t been around for a while, thought I’d chip something in…

Now for the level. I hate to say this about anybody’s pack (especially since it’s usually true about me), but I agree with a lot of people here who say that it needs work. The layout is ghastly. Enemies are curiously placed. I won’t even go into the eye candy because it’s not even worth mentioning. I played thru the pack in about 5 minutes and noticed plenty to improve on. I think most of it is already been said, but things like detailing, eventage, specifically length need to be fixed. Decor goes a lonnnng way towards gaining appeal for a level. Clever targets make for a challenge. And layout ALWAYS helps. I’m not quite sure what to label as pros since not many are in the pack.

I said in the pack.

Frankly I have to point out that the greater part of the piece needs work. If your story is what I think it is it is intriguing, but poorly fleshed out. Try writing it in English, as most people here read that. 3 levels is always pretty short for a sp pack, even a demo. My advice to you: get some good buddies to playtest your levels before you put ‘em up. The folks here generally don’t take well to half-baked projects. Take your time on this pack. There’s no rush. I’ve been building mine for 3 years now and it’s still nowhere near done. Get some practice. I know you’ll do better with it.
I’ll give you 1.5, since I’m really nice, but I can’t give you a dl rec, for as the others said, it honestly is kinda bad. Just keep trying!

I have not time for a longer review, but I just wanted to say good job, most of the fixables were addressed in Crimi and Cooba’s respective reviews. But great concept, fairly nice execution and dl rec!

Sean Paul?!
Anyway, I listened to this song and my first thought was “Wow. Holy cow, wow.” And I mean it too—This is the best (and I believe the only) remix of Scraparap I have yet heard. It is basically an electronic/technological remix of Scraparap, with many of the old instruments and some new ones too.
Some nice rhythms going there, though I was quite sad to not hear the awesome string part for the orig song—That really defined Scrappy, although the drums do too. The basic lines are tweaked just enough to give you a good feel, and it came out pretty darn well. I’d have to say a 7.6 and a definite DL rec.

I’d like to do a collab song with you sometime. Send me a line when you are available to.

I played partway through this and wasn’t overly impressed with it. It has some good ideas and some good eyecandy, but it also has some bad ideas and bad eyecandy. Like the spike pit in the castle level. What’s with that?! The movie intro sequence thingies weren’t really up to par, and the flow was wierd.
Still, the concept was okay, if also eluscive, and it WAS playable. Unfortunately, I’m gonna have to give you a 5.9 and no dl rec. I hate doing that, after all your hard work on it, and I heartily suggest going back and fixing it up. It’s a great pack, albeit in need of work. Just fix ‘er up and wait…

Well, I promised a review, so here is a review!
At first glance, Sonicnathan1’s fixup of the Colonius tileset appears to be simply a rearrangment of the tiles, along with some clever masking speeches. And after examining it myself, I have come to the conclusion that…….that’s all it really is. Not to offend SN, who happens to be a chum of mine. I do have to admit, though, it IS a good fix. The tiles have been set in a much more accessible and more friendly way [the tileset was pure crud before in terms of organization], which is good. Colors are okay, not really any noticeable bugs, it looks pretty good.l However, there really aren’t any fluff tiles in this set, like custom eyecandy and the like, which saddens me, considering the enormous amount of possibilities for this there are. Still, it is a great fixuppage of the set, and I will give it a 5.3 and a DL rec, if just because it’s a promising reconstruction of a nice set. Gj!

Just a question here, but what could Barack Obama have really done to help you with your level? I didn’t know he even played JJ2…
Nice level though. Cool eyecandy, nice layout, good eventage, worth a DL at least.

Um, well it DOES look like a MSpaint tileset. Quite usable but unfortunately, that’s just about all I can praise in the set.
First of all the colors are waay off. Now I do not know if this was intended or not, but it doesn’t seem to jibe with the rest of the set. The colors are pretty basicas is the layout+style+number of feasable tiles. There is potential for it, I readily admit. But only the really great designers could really hope to make notable levels with this.
There isn’t too much in the way of variety in graphics. Come to think about it, there’s not too much here period. But don’t panic, you don’t have to give tileset making up altogether [unless you stink worse than me :P]! You have some good ideas, having got all the basic essential blocks [blast’ems, thorns, vines, a “cave” tilegroup, bg], and you made it quite easy to tell what each one was. The example level did,I’m afraid, strike out for the reason that you seemed to just throw stuff in to show people what to do with it. I would actively seek out the advice of veterans such as Agama, Disguise, Blade, CelL, BlurredD, to name just a few. They could greatly helpyou improve on what you already have. Add a little of what I call “fluff tiles”, which serve no purpose but to provide new eyecandy opportunities. Make a better example level, or get someone to do it for you. But don’t let a miniscule setback like this stop you. Just keep trying, and wow us all off with your next great work.
I’m afraid I’ll have to give a no-dl rec, because it really would be a tad bit crazy trying to use it well, but I will give you a 6.0, for trying so hard and for having the guts to let losers like me review your stuff. And to all those people who will doubtlessly say “why even put this crud up?”, I respond “because everybody starts somewhere.” Just because it’s not too hot doesn’t give you the right to say he’s a bad drawer. We were ALL this bad once, remember?

This is pathetic. Endless repetitive levels, some with the same name 5-6 times, the same tilesets again and again, a bad concept of eventage, the only good thing I found was that it was playable and it was better than none. Please try a bit harder [its going to be fine with a lot of work. I’ve been working on mine for 2 years. It’ll get there]

Well, how’s about the first official review of 2009?

To start off, the name of the one song kind of set me off [sex.xm—the song title is “underwater sexual intercourse”. !!!???!!!]. I didn’t like that, maybe rename it?
Now for the levels themselves.
Fight In Flight 1 is a very interesting level. You fly around on a CTF map with hoverboards. The layout was a bit annoying, as most/all the powerups and weapons were inside the walls, and there were WAAAY too many fastfires scattered around the level. The concept was very good though, I was originally making one of these myself but stopped in lieu of other projects. There is also an alternate version of this that has springs, which is nice for those who really don’t like hoverboard combat.
Fight in Flight 2 is also interesting. It utilizes one of the concepts I first introduced in my battles [the textured bg being used as fog], but one of them wasn’t made translucent. The mountain isn’t as far down as should be, and this level is just a symmetrical copy of….itself. Still the idea is great, the execution is mediocre, but the bird kind of confused me a little.
The next level is an exact copy of level 1, except that it is in the water. Very interesting, and points go for that concept.
So to sum up I’d like to say good job, and a neutral dl rec goeth to you, because I’m not quite sure which way to lean. Keep coming back with more, and importantly the most, get testers.

This is an edit of the last version [I don’t know if it is still up], so I will address the revisions:

Masking bugs: most of these have been fixed. There’s one tiny spot in Castle Escape, but it’s not very big and can slide.
Crate puzzles: These have [for the most part] been made a lot easier. The Carrotus Gate one is still tricky, but no longer hopelessly so. The Castle Escape one is equally tricky, but now at least you can SEE the crate…
GJ, Dl rec, and an improved rating of 7.2!

Well, very…. interesting level…
Not what I expected, Aurora Citadel is a Christmas level using the Holidaius ’98 fix tileset [which doesn’t really appear to BE fixed, but ow] and is very unusual. Why? no layer 8 bg. The level is devoted to seekers, having so many spots with them that I lost count. The amount of hidden shortcuts and side routes amazed me. The eyecandy was quite nice.
So to finish up, I will give a rating of 7.9, and a neutral dl rec, because the level was good but the high concentration of seekers unnerved even me.

I see no point in this upload.
It is no different than the latest JJ2+, infact it’s worse.
I wouldn’t normally do this, but the fact that you put an illegal link to JJ2 in your level IN MULTIPLE PLACES disgusts me.
For this reason, I will give you a negative dl rec, and a rating of 1.3, because it could be usable by some inconceivably long stretch of imagination, but is a terrible waste of disk space. I hope the admins will remove such content from J2O.

Just to make it clear that this is NOT an attack in any way on djazz. I simply see no good in this download.

Edit: to Sfaizst:
But the point is…There IS no difference between this and JJ2+, because JJ2+ ALREADY provides mp3 support! I don’t even use Youtube, and having more windows open simply makes the game even slower. I see no point, and cannot recommend a download! Thank you for your politeness though.

————————————-
I’m not even going to try to argue this point anymore, because it’s going nowhere fast. Thanks for your courtesy, but we shall have to agree to disagree.

Hmm….
Interesting level. It is a level with CTF bases, super red gems, a tricky and confusing race, and battle possibilities all rolled up into one. Unfortunately, this makes the level a bit cramped, as evident when played.
There’s one whole quarter of the map I haven’t even figured out how to GET TO yet
The pipes can be annoying, esp. if you are trying to pinpoint one to enter.
Eyecandy is classic, not very original.
I wish…..I wish…..I wish you would fix these things up.
I’m afraid I’ll have to hand out a no-dl citation, because it simply is too crazy to conceive playing on. Hope you can fix it, and look forward to seeing a better version!
